Channel Master Cm 7778 Medium Gain Preamplifier (Antenna) 2926

Review for titan mediumgain mast mounted

Price was $56.00. I live in an area where all my signal strength is normal to good on a clear day. I also live close to the airport where interference can be an issue. I did previously install a clearstream antenna in my attic because rabbit ears were not an acceptable reception. This l ran straight down to my cable splitter. I was able to attain 57 channels. A few non major stations were in the bad range. I ordered the channel master cm-7778 because i figured my reception just needed a little boost. Refer to your television manual on how to check your signal strength. If your signals are bad and missing you may need to spend the two dollars more for the high gain amplifier. However, do not buy a high gain amplifier if you signal strength is slightly below normal to good. I didn't want to wait until packer football day, under extreme whether conditions to find out that my normal clear whether signal was not good enough. I received my channel master from online store before the whether got bad. I installed it the same day, rescanned my t. V. And still got 57 channels. However, the bad channels went to good and the rest of the signals max'ed out. This is when all four t. V. S are on at the same time. It looks like it's going to be a clear road to the superbowl. Go pack go!

Preamble

Very satisfied with this booster, works good for long range. If your location is a hard to get a signal, or your in long range from tv towers, then this is the booster for you. Beware though, at 30 db gain if you don't really require 30 db's for gain, you might be making your signal too strong, and its likely you should go with a lower db gain booster for your area. However, if your in a bad location like i am, then combine this with the right antenna of your choice, and you'll not regret it. I wouldn't suggest guessing at it though, if you do your research online, and use practical logic you can easily set up a good system for your channels for your specific needs. My location is really hard to get channels and without a booster i wouldn't get one channel. I kid you not i really did need this booster to replace my old one that wasn't worth 2 cents. Only bad thing about my order was the fact it took two weeks to get it, this booster at the time wasn't offered on prime, so for the long wait, even though i'm glad i waited, i knocked off one star but not because of the product. The booster is freaking fantastic for signals. In fact my location and the 100 ft cable i'm using , i'll more likely have to add a distribution amp to my system due to the normal db gain loss which has nothing to do with this booster itself. Like i mentioned my location is tough and yet i get all the available channels in my area. Channel Master Cm-7778 Titan 2 Medium-gain Mast Mounted Preamplifier For Tv Antennas Review (cm 7778)

09/02/16:. Update since my last review immediately after purchase. The hot temperature in the attic is affecting the reception. Some channels like nbc and cbs will appear to be tiled and at times, totally without signal. Only after 8pm when the temperature in the attic becomes cooler will the picture be back and stable. . . After installing a yagi style antenna in the attic, i did not get decent reception, picture was tiled and unstable, no signal from nbc nor abc. After some online research, i decided to get a tv signal amplifier. I considered a number of products, made of different materials : plastic and metal housing. Since i intended to install the amplifier in the attic (which can reach more than 120f), i chose the channel master brand (metal housing). Then i went to youtube and viewed their short intro about their products. . . Then i went to the cm site to enter my address using their antenna selection-guide. . . The web site then listed all available channels that my neighborhood could receive plus the signal strength for each channel. The published results were not pretty. None of the tv stations were green. All were pink (weak). The cm site suggested that a high gain amplifier (cm-7777) is necessary and should be installed outdoor. However i only wanted to install it in the attic. If it does not work, i can always return it. But i still had reservation about longevity of this device in the hot environment. I asked cm for their suggestion. They came back to confirm to me that their products were designed to withstand up to 140f, re-iterating that installing in the attic was fine. Temperature in my attic reached 118f around 4pm, well within the designed maximum. Still, i vacillated, concerned about the high heat in the attic. Then i saw the asurion protection plan on online store site, which gave 3 year protection for less than $9 total. That's it. I immediately ordered the cm7777 and the asurion. Today, i spent about an hour tweaking the installation. Initially, no significant improvement in picture quality. . Then a light bulb came on and that's what i did:. 1) raised the height of the antenna by about 4-5 inches (from about 20ft); . 2) made sure the tube that held the antenna in place was vertical; . 3) pointed the antenna to south; &. 4) leveled the antenna (to make sure it was not pointing down, but level, even slightly up); . . Result:. I now could get pbs, cbs and abc on all the tvs in 3 rooms; nbc in 2 rooms; plus a number of other channels; picture was stable, no tiles. I think there is room for improvement, by raising the antenna higher, and to move the antenna to left or right. But so far i'm happy with this setup. When the weather is cooler, i shall tweak the setup again. . I am happy to have cut the cord. Goodbye cable tvs. Tired of having to renew my contract every year, paying for the extravagant hd fee and set-top box fees. I estimate i will recover my capital outlay in 1. 5 months! i just hope the tv amp will last for a few years! -V. Barbara

PROS
  • Paired it with a channel master extremetenna. Due to previous failed attempts to get things right, i had a channel master amplify on hand as well. The amplify on its 17db setting produced slightly better results, but not enough to gain me any channels. I will run the amplify because i own it, but this is a fine alternative. . In my situation, by the way, the higher gain setting on the amplify simply made a wreck of things. Makes me wonder if 30db ever works out. If a signal is that far gone. . Neither amp, btw, produced more channels than the naked antenna. Both seemed to offer a tiny bit more headroom (2-3% more strength, greater stability) on the channels that i can actually get, so i think these things are worth having for roof mount or tall mast installations.
  • I rejected this amp over a year ago as being too potent. Went with a lower gain weingard unit with more overload resistance instead. That was a mistake. Even though every textbook over the last hundred years would have suggested otherwise. . We have a decent "70 mile" yagi - but it's mounted within our attic. All calculations showed it should be fine for our easy single direction install. Unfortunately, two of our channels had sporadic problems where the digital decoders within our solid state hdhomerun tuners would glitch - yielding . Ts files which were often unrecoverable. We had fallen of the digital cliff with those tuners. They needed a healthy signal to work reliably. . I don't own a spectrum analyzer for these frequencies, but a good quality setop box containing both a signal strength meter and a bit error rate meter showed that these problems happened with anything below a 65% indicator. Those weak channels were always at 61% or lower - even though the station was only 30 miles away. After this amp was added - weak channels jumped to 69%. And the glitches stopped. Clearly, our roof and shingles severely attenuate these signals, and the amplifier was making up for much of that. . We only progressed after throwing away the textbook rules and just experimenting with this box. You'r mileage may vary - but this may be worth a try. I'm certain a high gain amp can get overloaded with strong input signals - but that's the chance you take. . Tonight i'm simultaneously recording 4 separate movies with no glitching. Thanks to this amp.
CONS
  • I use this right up on the roof next to my antenna. It replaces a rca unit that wasn't sensitive enough. This was easy to set up, works flawlessly after 2 months and i'm glad that i paid extra for it. The only thing that i'd like to change is the way power is injected into the coax. I'd rather have an inline connection that can be plugged into the tv directly. However, i'm sure that there are instances where my proposed method is problematic. . One should note that this equipment is used to amplify existing signals. So if there is no signal at the antenna this will not do you any good. I'd suggest that if your antenna has a 15' or less coax run to your tv, this will not help. Modern, hdtvs have very good digital tuners. The cm-7778 should only be used if you have a weak signal and have a long coax run to the tv. . 2-10-2015. This unit died after 10 days after its warranty expired. Like many of the other reviews. It's no good if it doesn't work.
  • Defective - when i installed this preamp, it appeared to work, because i could receive a tv signal, but i didn't know if it was working better than my maximum gain (typical): 18db preamp, winegard lna-200. I purchased this channel master titan 2 30db tv antenna signal preamplifier, because it had a higher advertised gain than the winegard lna-200 and i wanted to see if it would do a better job on a few hard to receive hdtv stations. I didn't really notice any difference, but that assessment is nullified if the unit was defective out of the box. With in the first week, i noticed a complete loss of tv signal. After unplugging the unit and reinstalling, it appeared to clear up the fault. But, after two weeks, the unit was completely dead; no tv signal could be received. I replaced this channel master cm7777 with my winegard lna-200 and the no tv signal issue was resolved. So, i concluded that the unit i received is defective. Per the included documentation, channel master prefers you contact their customer service rather than return the item. I've contacted channel master customer service, but haven't heard back yet. The channel master webstite sucks for customer support. I didn't see a way to contact channel master customer service other than by telephone and their office is only open m-f. I didn't see any email listed to contact channel master on their website. There was a tech support email address on the included documentation, but any company that makes it difficult to contact their support/customer service is a company you really don't want to do business with. Also, it appears that this preamp is under warranty for only 90-days. That's a very short warranty period and another indication that channel master really doesn't stand behind their products. Of course this unit is made in china. That should be no surprise and totally consistent with defective out of the box. So, channel master is just another company selling chinese crap with very poor customer support. Buyer beware! . . Update: i received a replacement from online store. Com and the replacement failed in the exact same way as the original. It worked for a couple of weeks and then it failed. The first indication of failure was no signal received at the tuner. I was able to resolve this failure by unplugging the power and then reconnecting. The second failure didn't respond to this fix. It was complete no signal at the tuner. So, the good news is that it fails soon enough to return to online store. Com for a full refund. These units were installed in my attic so they weren't in a harsh environment. In a telephone conversation with channel master support, they try to claim that the tv stations are too close to the antenna. Channel master should try to get some support reps with technical competence and integrity. Yet they cling to the business model of feeding propaganda to the customers while they pedal chinese crap that fails within weeks.
  • Using a clearstream 4v antenna. If anything my signals actually degraded just a little bit. Very disappointed. Closest tower in 24 miles and they came in good before. They still come in good but the signal is no stronger than it was before. And the distant towers are not any worse or better. My receiver is a tivo ota. Will probably disconnect the pre-amplifier and put it back the way it was.

titan mediumgain mast mounted Channel Master CM-7778 Titan 2" Medium-Gain Mast Mounted Preamplifier for TV Antennas (Switch to Mobile/Desktop Version)

Installed this on my cm-4228hd antenna mounted in my attic. Towers are all 40-45 miles away. Antenna signals on all channels (about 50 of them) climbed significantly 20-30db. All channels with the amplifier are rock solid. When i did another channel scan with the cm-7777 amplifier installed, i was pleasantly surprised to see that i gained 12 more channels that ranged in distance from 100-125 miles away! these new channels have occasional pixelation issues but i'm not complaining considering the distance from an indoor antenna. The cm-7777 titan 2 imho is an excellent amplifier.

Click to see NoticeChannel Master Cm 7778 Medium Gain Preamplifier (Antenna)"Hi, i am someone who had been paying for tv for about the last 20 years. Only now after going from basic tv for only $20 a month to now of $60 a month for basic. Plus the cabel and satalite companies constantly switching up taking away what is viewed as basic and then 2nd level. Always splitting up the most popular tv stations in order to force people to pay more for what they were already recieving. I had finally had enough. Just like there will come a day when america decides to stop oil companies from running the world. . With that said, i like many of you, have read feed back from different sources in order to purchase something i knew nothing about. I had a old cheap antinna that worked every now and then , but never got a picture without snow. So instead of doing more resurch years ago why. I like many of my nieghbors who prefer to live in the country simply paid for tv. Throwing away money. . I purchase what seemed to be a high end preamplifier cause i was now determined to make this work. Went to radio shack and bought a high end big antennia. First like everyone else tried to go without a pre amplifier only to get channels for a few minutes then nothing but squares of colors. Installed the channel master the same day i recieved it. Wham hd tv without paying. Beautiful picture and clearity without cable. I would have never belief this possible. . My recomandation is, spend the money on a channel master and don't play around. However, if you just are to strapped then read about all the other preamps and decide whats best for you. Just remmember chances are this is going to be a one time exspense for a couple of years."

Been a few months and i am still happy. We were basic cable users and it seemed that every couple years they dropped another channel from our "basic" service. I am only about 25 miles the towers and get great reception and several channels (including some i did not get with "basic"). I was able to tap into existing lines which made installation easy. I only run one tv off the antenna. I have only had freeze/cut-out screen rarely.

I installed a clearstream 2max attenna in my my attic and it was able to pickup 58 channels after a 25' rg-6 coax run. When i added this winegard pre-amp, my tv was able to acquire 80 channels. I'm powering the pre-amp at the end of the 25' coax run. Not all channels are reliable, but most of them are. Previously thought i needed to buy a directional vhf and another uhf antenna, but decided to add the booster with just my hdb91x directional antenna. Now i'm getting every channel at 80+ percent signal strength plus a lot more channels than before. Without the booster i was only getting 30% or so on some of the channels i want. Now everything is working great and i don't need to worry about spending another 80 buck on an uhf antenna.

- Q. ValdezSurprised everyone isnt listing their locations. Anyways, my location is downtow san jose, 41 miles from the closest towers(north west towards sf). So i purchased the winegard hd7694p along with the winegard amp and combine this with my xbox one and the xbox tv turner($50) and now i have comcast or direct tv type viewing of all the local channels i wanted. I have to tell u that it has far exceeded my expectations. Im now receiving fox, nbc, abc, cbs, cw, ion, a music video channel, all pbs's. Just in time for super bowl too. I installed it to an abandoned direct tv satellite base above my apartment building 30ft from ground level using a 50ft coaxial cable. Highly recommend u combine this with the xbox one because of the extra guide features and the fact you can pause live tv for up to 30mins. I also purchased the xtreme signal hdb91x xtreme long range yagi style vhf/uhf hdtv antenna here on online store for my father because he is 80miles from the sf towers so i'll be putting up a review of that one next week once installed.

I have been through a lot of products on my antenna journey including amps/preamps and antennas themselves. I tried the winegard lna-200 with an antennas direct db8e, target stations 70+ miles away. It worked well. I got some dropouts on a weaker channel during the day. Occasional dropouts on the others. After research, i thought more gain was the ticket. I purchased a channel master cm-7777 which provided 30db gain which would be 10-12db than the winegard however i didn't gain anything. It could have been overloaded, not sure but i don't have any scientific proof. I've ultimately wound up with an rca preamp with slightly more gain. Overall though this is a great preamp so don't hesitate to buy it if it's right for your application. 70+ miles is probably too far but a range of 50-60 miles might be good all else equal. A different antenna might yield different results.

Channel Master CM 3412 2-Port Ultra Mini Distribution Amplifier cable antenna signals CM3412

Channel master distribution amplifiers, manufactured by channel master's former parent company, pct international, one of the leading manufacturers in the cable telecommunications industry, will boost your digital tv and hdtv signals, increasing their overall signal strength. They have a miniature design which will give you more space to relieve congested installs when space is at a premium. Channel master distribution amplifiers are professional grade and meet stringent us and international standards, including those developed by the society of cable telecommunications engineers (scte), who creates international standards for many tv signal distribution products. Channel master distribution amplifiers can be used in hdtv, catv, off air, analog and digital rf distribution applications where high performance and reliability are required. The cm 3410 is a high quality ultra mini single output digital tv amplifier with passive return, which means the distribution amplifier does not have any amplification for signals in the return path frequency range (5 42 mhz). This frequency range is used in cable telecommunications networks to allow cable modems and set top boxes to communicate back through the cable network. Passive return amplifiers are the most commonly used in house distribution amplifiers by cable operators. Channel master distribution amplifiers have precision machined f ports (conforms to scte standards) that are gold plated with beryllium copper construction to provide optimal distribution and amplification of your rf signals.

Channel Master CM3414 4-Port Distribution Amplifier Cable Antenna Signal

Works beautifully. Without this plugged in, i was able to pull in 18 channels but the only main network channel i could get consistently was fox. Cbs would randomly come in but with frequent signal loss, nbc never came in. With it plugged in, i get 25 channels including cbs, fox, and nbc. I still dont get abc but this is due to my location - the abc tower within range is in a different direction. Based on what i've read, only a 2nd antenna would allow me to get abc. . I live 32 miles from the nearest towers and in a very rural area. I was told by a antenna company that based on my location i would need to attach a pole 60 feet above my house to get reception. I tried this as a last ditch effort and am thrilled that it worked.

Channel Master Cm3414 4-port Distribution Amplifier Cable Antenna Signal (cm 3414) FAQ.

I was a bit skeptical as to whether this device would be an effective way to distribute coax connections from a hdtv antenna that i have mounted in my attic. The previous unit i had came from comcast and i decided a few years ago to cancel my cable tv service, which included several x1 boxes and 3 other standard cable boxes. I used the old comcast 8-port distribution amplifier in conjunction with the 8 element bowtie indoor/outdoor hdtv antenna - 70 mile range ($127) and the winegard ds-2000 universal 22-inch tower mount for off-air tv antennas (1. 5in diameter mount pipe) - includes 2 u-bolts, fit 1in to 2in pipe/towers ($12. 50). Using this setup with the old comcast 8-port distribution amplifier only allow me to pull in 24-29 channels 50 miles from atlanta with many being crystal clear, however, many were not so great and dropped in an out frequently. When using the old comcast device and when it got cold outside, say 40 degree, or it rained, my channel reception would drop to around 10 channels. So a few months ago, the old comcast device failed and i decided to give this channel master cm3418 8-port distribution amplifier a shot, since it was only $38 bucks. I thought to myself, well it can't be any worst than what i had in place originally. Since i was in the process of making this change, i also decided to include the channel master cm-7777hd tv antenna amplifier with adjustable gain ($69 direct from channel master) while i'm at. To say that i am extremely pleased with the outcome, well that would be an understatement! the combination of these two devices totally exceeded my expectations! i have been able to pull in 90+ channels on all my hdtvs. All clear as they can be. The days of regretting dropping my expensive cable tv service and hearing the family complain are gone. We are all very pleased with the results for the price of one month's cable bill. -Notice from T. Jessica, Massachusetts

Don't mess around. This works and the picture quality is beyond excellent. I feed from attic down to the basement, then plug into antennae input. Plug power source into channel master and then start distributing signal to all rooms in the house. Kill your cable or dish and go back to the good old days of free tv. I think i paid $8 mo in the late '80's for cable. That wasn't so bad. I don't know anyone getting by for less than $100 mo nowadays and for tons of crap programming. - P. LewisWe live about 45 miles away from the broadcast towers with an attic antenna. It worked for most channels, most of the time. Abc and a couple others would skip occasionally which was really annoying. It is a pretty large antenna that could likely be realigned to improve signal but it probably wouldn't be enough to completely correct the issue. It's a two story house with an attic and basement so the cable runs are long. The antenna comes from the attic down to the basement, is split, and then distributed throughout the house. . Before this, i tried a new 4 way splitter. It seemed to help a bit but definitely not enough. I unhooked the cables from the old splitter, installed them on the new amplified splitter, and mounted it to the 2x4 studs with screws from the old splitter. . I'm not sure how big of difference it makes, but i did ground this one where the old one was not grounded. This is an error on my part as the ground cable was already there and connected to the copper plumbing. . I also get a lot more channels now. Some of these are from different markets that we probably shouldn't even get. Don't be surprised if you pick up some more channels due to the increased signal strength. . Only con is this should come with two screws to make installation faster and easier. Otherwise, great product. If you have long coax runs and have a low signal strength due to distance or obstructions, try this.

I have to admit that i started the return for this item. I had hooked it all up and nothing worked. No better that without it. Then i looked at the video of the products and found out that this will not increase the signal only boost the split of signal so i got a unit to pre amp the signal & now everything works great. Four stars because this information should be inside the installation guide.

Because our cable company got greedy i decided to go "old school" and put an antenna back up and also stream from the computer. The picture quality from the antenna is superb, mostly h. D. I live in a rural area and still pull in 20 channels. I did some homework before purchasing the channel master and made the right choice. We probably use it more than the streaming.

Channel Master Cm-4228hd High Vhf, Uhf Hdtv Antenna FAQ.

This is my 1st venture into the world of ota antennas (since dumping cable), so have nothing to compare this to except the antennas that we had growing up as a kid. After quite a bit of research, i had narrowed my choices down to this cm antenna or the antennas direct 91xg. I opted for this one as the smaller antenna seemed that it would be easier to keep up in bad weather and i wanted to avoid guy wires if possible. I've read the bad reviews for the new hd4228 model here and at hdtvprimer but i'm not into antenna theory and i don't have a lab to run computer simulations. I just wanted to watch some tv without paying an arm and a leg to the cable company. . It seems that reasonably priced antenna masts are not easy to come by these days, at least not in my area, so i fashioned a 20' mast out of 2-10' sections of chain link fence top rail, a connector sleeve and some 14 (1/4") sheetmetal screws. Along with the channel master 3079 antenna mount kit, i was able to establish a very secure mount. . My goal was to pull in all of the stations circled in red on my tv fool report attached to this post. I have an 80' run of rg6 interrupted only by a single barrel connector and a grounding block leading to one tv set. The results were all that i had hoped for with every channel being watchable. In the 2 weeks since installing this, i have noticed a couple of the weaker stations dropping in and out a few times during bad weather. I've installed a winegard lna-200 to hopefully overcome these instances. My signals are typically running from normal to good on my tv sets meter. . As of now, i am very pleased with this purchase. We already have netflix on our xbox and are looking into some other streaming services. I asked my wife a couple of nights ago if she missed our cable tv. She smiled and said "what cable? ". I had to agree. Except for the extra $80 left in our bank account at the end of the month, losing cable has literally gone unnoticed. . Edit 06/24/16: it has been a little over 1 year now since installing this antenna and dropping cable. This antenna/amp combo has been nothing less than impressive. It has been through severe thunderstorms with the tornado warning sirens blaring and maintained a crystal clear picture, allowing us to keep up with the local weather updates from a tower 55 miles away. The antenna has not moved from it's original position and has never needed to be adjusted. We have retired our old xbox 360, replacing it with a roku 2 and have added online store prime to our netflix line-up. Except for missing 1 or 2 dallas cowboy football games, the quality of our tv viewing has gone up substantially since "cutting the cord". We have not missed having cable tv at all and the money saved (just over $1000) paid for our homeowners insurance this year. . I have added a photo showing how i have it mounted -Notice from . I'm still working on doing a permanent install (attic) but have this hooked up and have tested the signal after experimenting with placement. I live in an area where i have limited access to ota signals. (for example the so called local cbs affiliate broadcasts 25 miles south of the city) using a 10 or 20 mile antenna wasn't going to cut it and i needed something omni-directional that could help me pick up the majority of the stations in my area but also something i could point (at the damn cbs affiliate) i further wanted something i could mount in an attic fearing a roof mounted antenna might not survive the winter. . This antenna is going to do the trick. After testing everything, i'm going to roll with a pre-amp and mount the antenna on a post in the attic hooking it into where the cable used to be. The picture i am getting is crystal clear with a strong signal - i couldn't be happier!

- O. RitaGet channels from everywhere. Much better than old antenna. Seems flimsy, but held up to 60mph winds the other day and didn't move. Worth it so far, 3 months in.

We are on the fringe area from seattle's queen anne where most transmitters are located. Previously received one broadcast channel occasionally. Still spotty reception everyday for all channels, but consistently receive komo and kiro. When we have clear days we get king/kong, and fox as well.

Channel Master CM3418 8-Port Distribution Amplifier Cable Antenna Signals

I had a few long runs of coaxial cable through the house from my dual antenna array, and was experiencing the insertion loss due to a couple of splitters used along the cable. This cured it. Not only do i get rid of the insertion loss, this distribution amp provides a little extra juice to help the signal along its way. It will work even better once i can get outdoors to reduce the length of the coax by bringing it into the house at a point closer to the tuners. (in addition to a connected tv, i use this with the hdhomerun connect duo. ) this does not feel cheap either-the unit has a lot of heft to it. It is very well made. The only odd thing is that the power supply uses a coaxial cable to provide power, although i do understand why it's done. Channel master is a long-established and trusted brand, and this product does not disappoint. It's worth paying extra.

Excellent product, very easy to use. I had installed an ota antenna some time back and was able to pick up most stations in my living room just fine, however, in my office i was missing several stations completely. Since they all run off the same antenna and i could get some stations in my office, i found this to be odd. So, i went ahead and purchased this unit along with a "pct series pctmpi1g power inserter for distribution amplifiers" and had it up and running within a few minutes. Not only was the signal much stronger in my living room, but it was good and strong for all stations in my office also. Still need to run more cables elsewhere, but i'm positive this will handle them just fine. . You might ask why i got the "power inserter" mentioned above? this box is very well made and weatherproof, so i located it outside under my eaves where i split off antenna signal to my different rooms. However, the power supply that comes with it is made to hook directly in to the box and be plugged in right next to it, but i didn't have a power outlet there. The power inserter allows me to insert the power right before my tv where i do have power and use the same cable to go back to this box. Normally the power alone would go into the top left input shown in the picture, which is clearly marked. When using the power inserter, the bottom left plug is clearly marked as being available for both power and antenna combined. The two work great together. . That might be my only complaint is that i was a bit cautious trying to figure out what to use. It's not clearly documented in the descriptions. I was cautious in getting a different brand power inserter for this, had a "channel master" version been available on online store i would have gone with that. With some research i felt fairly comfortable going this way though. I would have gladly spent a bit more money to get a channel master distribution amp that included the power inserter with it though!

- I. CourtneyChannel master cm 3412. . This splitter/amplifier has made a huge difference in our ota reception. The box contained the signal amp/splitter, an ac converter for power, a 6' rf cable to go from the ac converter to the unit and instructions. . We got a new tv and were having some trouble with weak signals and pixellation, which was variable. The signal seemed to be affected by the many trees we have around the house and there is an approximately 60 foot run of coax cable from the roof antenna to the tv location. . As soon as this was plugged in (a 3-4 minute process) the improvement was apparent immediately. Although we are not 100% problem-free, i d say there was a 90% improvement in signal strength, and clarity of the picture. . Occasionally, especially at night or in bad weather, there are intermittent problems when large vehicles go by on the road; and we are about 10 miles from an airport so i think we may be getting some interference from planes taking off and approaching. I don't think there is much i can do about that. (never had a problem with analog tv though! ) but most of the time watching is a pleasure. . I would definitely recommend this item, it s a real bargain problem solver at the price. See picture for what's in the box.

Channelmaster is the "cadillac" of the over-air tv world from decades ago. This amplifier works perfectly and is "professional quality". I used this on a system where i mounted two cm-4228hd's antennae perpendicular to each other on a 20 ft. Pole (they need to be 5 feet apart vertically) and joined them with a channelmaster jointenna (cm-0500), then fed that into this 4-channel distribution amplifier (cm-3414) to feed the whole house. We ran rg-59 cable from this amp to 4 tv's with runs of 40, 50, 60, and 65 feet. The signal at each tv is strong. This setup gives us 360 degree reception without needing to adjust a rotor when we change the channel on the tv. Awesome picture - better than we had on cable. Couldn't be happier!

Channel Master LTE Filter Improves TV Antenna Signals

Just another boost for air tv clarity

The channel master lte filter is designed to clear your ota tv signal path from the common interference created by mobile lte signals. The proliferation of lte signal towers and connected lte devices are a common cause of intermittent television signal disruption because mobile carriers operate on frequencies that can be very close to your broadcast tv frequencies. These disruptions can result in weak signals, pixilation or even channel loss, and can be especially disruptive when using an amplifier with your tv antenna.

Buying this item was a total gamble since i had no solid proof that lte was impacting my signal. Over the past two years i have tried 4 indoor antennas, 2 outdoor antennas, 5 different amps, two different dvrs, and swapped out my coax even though it was already rg6. Every step of the way i saw improvement but also every step of the way the same problems came back like lower signal quality during the day/summer or i move the antenna one way and i either lose/get spotty cw and cbs or i move the other way and fox and abc take the hit. Up till a week ago my final results was a mohu sky antenna, 40 foot run to the house, channel master 2 port distibution amp, 2x 6 ft coax runs, 2x hdhomerun extends, 2x 40ft cat6 runs to my switch and pc. It was nearly perfect but i would have half second blips at times when the signal temporarily dropped under 65% quality. Also, cw at times was nearly unwatchable with frequent blips which is a no go since i am a superhero fan and cw is a must. I didn t think i had a lte issue since my mohu sky came with a amp and lte filter combo and made my signal worse. I read a bit more and discovered that 20 months ago they had put up two lte towers and one was . 8 miles away and the second was on our water tower . 2 miles away. No wonder everything was all over the map. I put in this lte filter and boom much better. Was it night and day, no. Did my signal strength go up, maybe 1-3%. Did my shows stabilize, you betcha. I can use an app called signal gh which links up to my hdhomerun app. The signal strength stability went from looking like the side of a mountain range to mostly flat with 3% changes in signal quality but all of it well into the 70% range meaning a 99% or better signal with virtually no blips. I will totally buy a 2nd once the lte frequencies drop under 700 in the next year or two so i can keep the lte away from my tv. Should have bought this months ago. Hard to believe lte was the problem when i barely get a bar of verizon at the house. One thing i recommend is switching to hdhomerun over the tablo. The tablo was nice and simple but even when i tested my lte filter and setup on it the signal was bad. Just goes to show that tablo has a super small range where you get good signal on the box. It could be because i have the 4 tuner and splits it 4 ways but i easily get a 2-3 dot improvement signal equivalent wise on the hdhomerun than the tablo. Plus now i can use mcebuddy and comskip ($40 worth of software) to shrink my recordings by 90% and remove all commercials.

- W. TerryWe had good signal strength via an attic mounted antenna, but at times the drops and pixelization still made many of the channels unusable. After 5 weeks of use, i would estimate this filter has given us a 95% improvement. I only wish i had tried it sooner.

The F.A.Q. for channel master cm-7778 titan 2 medium-gain mast mounted preamplifier for tv antennas

Tried everything to get it to work and was ready to return. Ended up moving closer to the outside of the house which made a huge difference and now works very well. Also replaced a few wires no doubt made a difference also. Good to go for now!

A number of questions have been asked here.

In setting up my over-the-air or ota tv and streaming services, i have bought and used several preamps. The most recent one was the winegard lna-200 boost xt digital hdtv preamplifier from online store. This preamp has a specified 1 db noise figure, separately amplifies both vhf and uhf signals, and advertises a typical 18db gain in the vhf/uhf band. This was a very good preamp; however, i am in a difficult location - about 30 miles from the main broadcast transmitters like abc and cbs - and in a valley looking through trees with an indoor antenna sitting on top of my high boy in my bedroom. Finally, the main path to my antenna from the broadcast antennas is a multipath bounce (or several) since i must point the antenna 20 degrees away from the true north positions as specified by tvfool. Com. . Because of these difficult situations, one of my dvrs (the viewtv at-163 - also purchased at online store) measures signal strength and reported fluctuations of +/- 10 to 15% on many of my favorite stations. This was enough for those channels to fade in and out. Therefore, i read the reviews once again and purchased this product. Viewtv now shows signal fluctuations of at most +/- 4% and most of the time no fluctuations at all. I guess that old saying is still true - "you get what you pay for" - and i completely agree.

This review is to help others who might be considering using free over the air waves television instead of paying for cable tv (time warner, comcast, dish, direct tv or fios tv) in the nyc tri-state area. . We researched into what setup would best fit our local and what signals that we wanted to be able to access. The antenna that we ended up deciding to purchase through online store was. . Antenna:. 8 element bowtie indoor/outdoor hdtv antenna - 70 mile range. After our home roof and siding renovations were completed we had this installed on the south side of our home. . Next we also decided to purchase the channel master cm-7777 (over the cm-7778). This was in part due to the high signal gain of +/- 30db going by the specs. . Booster. Channel master cm-7777 titan 2 antenna preamplifier. . We are located in eastern queens ny near the border of western long island. We're not too far from nyc and can see the empire state building where many of the broadcast antennas are located. Having read through many write ups and sites that discussed best antenna, booster, direction and placement of the setup these were the main parts we decided to purchase. . The antenna was installed right after out roof and siding renovations were completed but not connected up yo the tv till much later. Due to lack of time (i doing the actual wiring and labor myself) i opted to use a smaller square shaped hd antenna we purchased previously till i found the time. What i did though was use the cm-7777 in conjunction with the smaller antenna as a stop gap. - to my surprise this configuration was decent. Most major local channels came through at the 45-72% signal strength, (some were a bit weak and were erratic at times. ) with it wired up this weekend i had the tv auto-program any channels it could find. I checked manually in diagnostic mode for signal strength. To my surprise i got a pretty steady 98% signal strength for most major local channels. I was getting around 45-72%+/- before. Now sit detects about 80+ channels vs. The 50+ channels with the smaller indoor antenna. . Also keep in mind that now the antenna setup is as follows. . (1) 8 element bowtie attached to the side of the house with a j-bar mount mount to a (2) 25ft coax cable coming into the house. Then the (3) cm-7777 setup which includes a (3) junction box which is where the (3a) power injector in plugged in. A power adapter is connected with a coax short cable which plugs into the very small junction box, (*keep in mind that you need an outlet near by and it's suggested the booster be as close to the antenna as possible. . *note: on day two in the morning we lost signal for any tv reception unexpectedly. I troubleshooted the issue and to resolve this (a) unplugged the power adapter for the power injector and (b) replugged the power adapter in to the wall outlet which restored the tv signal. I'm not sure why this happened, but since then i've had no issues. We will update if things change. . The (3b) antenna cable plug in the in port on the junction box. Then (3c) short coax cable from the out port connected to a (4) 1 to 3 splitter then to a (5) 100ft coax which is connected and plumb down from the second floor to the basement. It is connected to a (6) 1 to 2 splitter in the basement. Then attached to a (7) 100ft coax cable which is plumbed into the first floor living room where it is connected directly into the back of our (8) tv. With all this length, splitter and all the signal strength is at 98%. I have not used the deoxit to improve connections yet which i purchased thinking i would need to make sure to prevent signal degradation from with all the connections and cables i have in the setup. . The only question i have now is how does my setup fair when heavy rain sets in. I know that with the older small antenna (which is indoor antenna by the window was used if we had rain it would at times loose signal completely depend on how strong it was before the rain. We will update when i get a chance to check the signal strength under those conditions. . I do hope that this review helps you because i wish i had some reference points to go by other than hearing opinions from others where their setups did not address my local, conditions or concerns. I'll add some photos after i complete the permanent installation and mount the booster prior to sealing up the wall. . The cm-7777 is designed for outdoor or indoor installation. It comes with the needed hardware for both methods of installation.

My attic antenna was working just fine until broadcast stations in our area cut power on their main towers and went to a series of lower power transmitters. Good digital reception suddenly turned into intermittent pixellated reception. This channel master device fixed that reception of broadcast channels great again! . Box comes with everything you need, and instructions are very clear.

My dad lives in a heavily wooded area on a lake about 50 miles from the network stations. He got fed up with the dish network and directv games of jacking prices all over the place, loading up the channels with commercials, and nickel and diming customers on equipment, so he gave them the boot. He was worried, because he had two channels of entertainment, at best, before satellite tv. He used his old antenna, this cm 7777, and a smart led tv, and he received 28 channels with excellent reception. It took about an hour to install, including the mast, but he was watching the evening news that day. If only it were as easy to cancel satellite tv as it was to install the titan. :-(

Ordered this amplifier thinking i would need the high gain model. Turns out i have several close by tv stations that were being over amplified by this amplifier causing saturation of my tv tuner and i could receive no channels with this amplifier connected to my tv. I was able to return this amplifier and ordered the median gain amplifier model cm7778 which i am using now and it works perfectly. Received an excellent email from tech support describing the over amplification of this amplifier if you are in a situation where the closer tv stations get overpowered. John b

I live in a very difficult reception area. The towers are 35 miles away with four major hills in the way and i'm down in a gully behind an 800' tall ridge between me and the towers. We still have two networks on vhf, just to complicate matters first. . After trying a variety of flat, small, compact and "100 miles! 1! " directional and non directional antennas with lousy results, i even tried a db8 and of course got zero vhf reception and only half the uhf channels. Badly. . So i put a 10' old style yagi antenna (hbu44) up in the attic and got all the major channels more or less well enough. A couple of lower power uhf stations (ion and cw) were flaky during bad weather. I'd get 8-10+ seconds of green scramble during heavy rains. . I tried a different preamp (winegard) and it boosted the signals nicely but abc on vhf would occasionally glitch the picture and sound for 1-2 seconds every 4-5 minutes. Just enough to be annoying. It wasn't over amplifying, the signal strength was around 65% and would just drop out completely for that 1-2 seconds and then come back. . So i gave this amp a while. I wasn't sure i wanted the uber amplification of the 7777. It nicely boosted my signals from +2% up to +17% and brought ion and cw into solid upper 60% low 70% range from 45-50%. So far no drops on abc but i'll have to watch all of the channels for a few days and see how rainy days work out. I'll report back if there are any negatives. . So far so good!

Recently , i installed a basic 2 bay antenna in our attic with it facing s/se towards chicago towers. The antenna i use is the eagle aspeneasdtv2buhf in conjunction with this wonderful channel master 7777 titan 2 pre-amp. We are in muskego, wi , almost 75 miles from the towers. I'd say 95% of the time , wls 7 , wfld 32 and wpwr 50 come in. As i type this right now (always best to get more stations in early morning), am also getting wmaq 5 , wgn 9 and wciu 26. . Even though this is a uhf antenna , periodically i can also get wbbm 2 which is a vhf 12 station , hard to believe. The main reason i tried for chicago stations was to try and get wpwr 50. 4 buzzr channel, which isn't carried as a sub on any milwaukee stations. All the rest are bonuses! i'm anxious to see how reception is all times of the day once late fall arrives and the leaves are off our maple tree to the south as well as 3 neighbor's trees to the s/se. All in all , i'm very satisfied!

Our tower was blown down in a storm the beginning of january. You've heard the term "the natives are restless. " you should see my family with no working tv. They said they would be strong and survive, but the tears told a different story. I needed to scramble to get some tv signal into the house and settle everyone back down. I was able to set up a new antenna in the attic and snake a coax cable from there to the basement. With the antenna lower than it was on the tower and inside, signal strength is reduced, so the station faded in and out. I tried a few other preamps before this one, but one by one they could not improve the signal to the tv sets. I checked and wrote down how many bars of signal strength were on each channel, then installed this preamp. The signal went up at least one full strength bar on every channel. On some, it went up two bars. With this cm 7777 preamp, peace has been restored and i can relax for a while on this front.

I read them all, and they fall into two categories: premature hardware failure, and rtfm/mis-application issues. I just bought and installed one of these amps, and i'm focused on the second issue here. . This thing is great for getting more range / more channels in fringe / deep fringe areas. . This thing will not work in (sub-)urban areas or as a distribution amp. . Pros cons:. - red hot gain            - no gain control to make it more forgiving of overloads. - sturdy casing           - mine wouldn't open so i couldn't change the fm trap setting. - value                  - crummy warranty (seriously? 90 days? ). . This thing's greatest strength - gain - is its weakness. If you live within 30 miles of a powerful fm or tv transmitter, airport, or military base, it will get hopelessly overloaded (even decreasing the signal). That means nearly all metro areas and many suburbanites should buy something else (look at the kitz tech amps, which have a nice gain control). I tested the channel master against 3 other high gain amps, and this one came out best of the bunch. Unfortunately, there aren't any analog signals in my area so i can't give you any qualitative review about its noise figure, but on digital channels the picture was free of pixelation from 300 kw transmitters 100 miles away. When the wind is blowing the right direction, i get a 21 kw station that's 150 miles away (but. Don't expect that! ). . In my area, there are no transmitters within 30 miles and nothing more than 100 kw within 70 miles. So interference and overloading are just not an issue, and this amp sings. I've got stacked yagis, but frankly there's little point to that strategy as you lose much of the 3db gain from the second antenna to the insertion loss of the balun that combines them. In contrast, this amp gives nearly 30 db of gain - that's 1000x the signal from a single antenna. . How reliable is the hardware? it's worked great for 24 hours ; -). If you're concerned about premature failure, run it inside your house (at the other end of the antenna cable's loss) rather than on the mast for the first 90 days. That way, you'll get a pleasant surprise of another 5 db of gain when you move the amp to the mast where it should have been installed in the first place.

Channel master cm-4228hd high vhf, uhf and hdtv antenna with cm-7778 and it just did not got the job done (almost) (went from 3 to 30 channels). Went with cm-7777 and it got the job done! went to 42 channel and are now receiving the channels i wanted (go eagles go). Most tower are 56+ miles away, toms river to philadelphia. Only about 5 channels of 42 are spanish. Great so far!

I must say that this is a good piece of equipment. I have another preamp from antennas direct, but this seems to be more effective. I use preamps at 2 different houses and they can make a significant difference in reception depending on geography and distance from towers. With a good attic antenna without the preamp i got 10 channels, some with poor reception. With the preamp i got 19 channels with much better reception. You will need several short jumpers of 75ohm coax to install this.

We are in foot hills country at the end of the appalachian range with quite a few mountains and hills between us and the tv transmitting towers. Strongest booster there is. Combine them with the hd8200u winegard antenna and we went from 0 channels to 12. I have put up 4 of them on different properties. Technically we went to 18 channels but 6 of the channels are duplicates.

I needed to amplify the signal to avoid pixelation during storms and poor weather. When the weather is fine, so is the picture but sometimes in a rain storm and poor weather, it is harder to lock on to a hd signal. Hd ota now days are harder to deal with, in the old days, bad signal usually means just a bit of snow on the tv, now, it's unviewable, pixelation, hiccups, black screens. That's the trade off i guess for the clarity on the screen and better sound in the programs. This is held in high regard in that it amplifies without causing further issues. Doesn't run hot, no noise, other than the extra price to pay, if it helps lock down your signal during all weather, i don't see a reason not to install it. . Please click yes if my review have been helpful to you, it will encourage me to continue writing and updating my reviews, and leave a comment if you have any questions, i will be more than happy to answer if i can be of help.

Works very well in conjunction with my channel master cm-4228hd antenna. My house is about 60 miles from the closest broadcast towers; i have about 300 feet of wire between the antenna and the televisions (splitter goes to 5 televisions). After i added this, all of the tv's get a very, very strong signal, and i've even gained a few i didn't receive before. Easy to install as well (took about 10 minutes).

I'm an electrical engineer. I designed cable tv amplifiers and other components and very complex commercial receiving systems. I live far out in the country 65 miles from atlanta and 35 miles from macon, and just over 150 miles from savannah. The closest fm station is several miles away, and there are very few commercial transmitters around. . Most people would think my location needs a high gain amplifier, but that is not true. I bought two of these lower gain version amplifiers to install at the antennas to just overcome feedline losses and firmly establish system noise figures at the antennas. I wanted no more gain than that, because excessive gain over a minimum never helps signal to noise and will often cause problems. . My systems are eight bay bow tie arrays with eight bays at 60 feet toward atlanta and eight bays at 200 feet toward savannah. They both have distribution amplifiers at the house entrance. . These amplifiers did exactly as planned. They have enough gain to establish system noise temperature by these mast head amplifiers, and not by coax or distribution amplifier noise temperature. A higher gain amp would not improve s/n even though i am way out in a rural location. . I get all of the atlanta stations well, with only the weaker of all stations wsb 2. 1-2. 3 ever having loss of signal. For some reason wsb has never been good here since going digital, so they have some fading with moist atmosphere, ducts, or fog. Wsav at almost 200 miles is rock solid, as are all the macon stations.

Part of a larger system, but works great. Bought for a neighbor and made calls to support and assisted in installation. Channel master was very helpful and the set up they recommended and is massively over performing. Channel master support said it would pick up 105 channels but after a tweaking the antenna it's picking up 141! very happy neighbor is buying me dinner.

L. Kathlene, City of Kingston upon Hull

Purchased this unit to replace a lower cost rca amplifier when i put up a new antenna tower with antenna rotater. All the broadcast towers are within 75 miles (most within 30 miles) of our home, so according to channel master's recommendations their more powerful amp was not necessary. It was easy to install and i can say it seems to work good. Signal reception is improved but not perfect. Local uhf channels were our biggest problem previously, and still have some issues occasionally. The dealer i bought the antenna from assures me our antenna is more than adequate for our needs. I was hoping that the additional height provided by a new tower and the ability to rotate the antenna with this new amplifier would solve all our reception problems. It's much better but not perfect. Thus the 4 star rating.

I have had cable for over 20 years. Past few years their prices have been skyrocketing. I would call them every year and get on a new plan to save money. This year, however, the best cable would give me would only save me $10. 00 a month. I did not want to keep paying $200 a month for their services so i canceled. My home is in the middle of a state forest with lots and lots of trees. The nearest tv stations are 40-50 miles away. I first bought this little 3 x 3 antenna from walmart, installed it on a 15 ft pole mounted on my roof and got a few stations. I figured bigger was better so i bought this huge rca 3038 antenna. It took two people and a lot of trouble to get it on my roof. I received absolutely no stations with it. So i went back to my little antenna and added this pre-amp to it. I now get all my local stations, plus their sub-stations and some stations from cities even farther away. A few of the stations get pixelated when it rains, but mostly they come in crystal clear. When i had cable most of my local stations pixelated or i would lose them for no reason. So i m actually better off than cable. I am using the wiring that cable installed which made hooking up 3 tv s super easy. You can watch a video on youtube that show you how to open the cable box, to hook up the antenna right to their cables. With my tv antenna and playstation vue i pay $30 a month for more stations then i received with cable. I get all the on-demand channels too. I would recommend this pre-amp to everyone who is trying to cut cable.

D. Susan, Nevada

This is a great preamplifier, i now receive 25 channels (some repeat stations from distant locations). I did have to run a dedicated power line from my breaker box to the amplifier because the outlet i had it connected to cause a few stations to not work when a light was turned on in the house but that was not a big deal. I purchased the same one for my dad and he has had no problems, i installed it in the attic in less than five minutes; he had an outlet in his attic so that helped.

P. Franklin, Louisiana says

This amplifier is paired with a channel master cm2016 antenna mounted outside on our roof. It is connected to a tivo dvr. I had apparently undersized the antenna that i really needed and could not maintain a solid signal with the local abc network. Once added, this amplifier boosted the abc channel to a strong signal and i can not tune in all ota channels that i care about. . Given the choice between an oversized antenna and what i have with an amplifier i would try the larger antenna first. Only because the amplifier is simply another point of failure that could go out any day, including mid-winter with an icy roof.

A. Anonymous, Alabama

I wish i would have gotten the more powerful model (this one was the intermediate) but it's working well. Not too much digitizing. I'm using it with a tivo receiver, and for whatever reason (tivo says the receiver is real sensitive) it doesn't pull the channels in like i want it to. The other master bed tv doesn't have the digitizing problem like the tivo does. If you are using this for just the tv, it's great. If you have a tivo, get the more powerful one.

Disadvantage and Critical reviews

This is not the same amplifier that channel master used to sell. Don't ask me why channel master changed the product and decided not to call it cm7777b or something. Supposedly the new version is better than the old but it doesn't work for me at all, while the old one does. . I tried to contact channel master support for help and what a joke. It's basically an argument to try and convince them it really isn't working and get them to replace it. After i finally got them to agree to fix it i sent it to them at my own cost and they sent me one back with a sticker on the box saying "tested" that i swear is the exact same one i sent them with nothing actually done to it to fix it. Maybe i'm just being paranoid but point is it doesn't work and the old exact same model but different product does. Won't be buying from cm after customer service debacle.

When compared to the rca tvpramp1r, it does not work as well. I have 4 tv's connected to a uhf/vhf digital antenna in my house. This and the rca model received pretty good reviews. So, i purchased both. Admittedly, i was skeptical with the rca model and thought for sure that the channel master would work better. I even received confirmation from a tv "dx-er" that the channel master would perform better. The folks from channel master gave me the same assurances. Everything about my antenna set up was the exact same to the same tv's using the same coax. I hooked up the rca first and reeled in 66 channels. I thought, "wow, can't wait to see what this channel master can do. " imagine my disappointment when the channel master could only bring in 55 to 60 given the conditions. (i did multiple scans on all of my tv's thinking this was a fluke. ) needless to say, i am back with the rca model. The rca performed better for my application.

V. Rochelle, Niedersachsen

I purchased this because i live out on the fringe of tv reception. When i put up the new antenna i installed this, i had no reception. I took down the antenna and replaced the coxal cable put the antenna up, still no reception. I took the antenna down again, this time i removed this unit put the antenna back and now i have good reception. Mind you putting the antenna up and down was no easy task. It requires four men and lots of rope because of the tower and the mast. So by the time i did all of this work the time on returning this product has expired and i am stuck with a $63. 00 piece of crap. If you by one check it out quickly so you do not get stuck with a piece of junk.

Worked from october through december. Then when the temperatures dropped below 20 degrees last week (januray 2017), the stations started to fall off one by one, until all reception was gone. To verify that it was the pre-amp failing and not some other reason, i brought the unit inside to warm it up. While it was warming up, i reinstalled an old radio shack pre-amp that was cold soaked to the same frigid temperatures and all the channels worked fine. Then back up to the attic and reinstalled the cm-7777. Worked fine at first, then as it cooled down to the ambient temperature of 25 degrees or so, all the channels started dropping off one by one, until there was no usable reception left. The customer service guy actually wanted me to download a pdf document that explains how to do a diagnostic test on the unit to see if it was actually at fault. Yeah, i'm the end user, and the seller expects me to get go get electrical test equipment, and start running a bunch of bench tests on the bloody thing. No, i said. Just tell me how to replace the thing. Amazed.

D. Angela, Kingston upon Thames

Have a very weak signal, off and on reception. I live in the black hills of sd in a valley. Initially when i hooked it up i noticed a stronger signal at both tvs. After about a weeks time and a slight cold snap the signal became worse, now i am back to off and on reception-none most of the time. I checked all the variables, antenna, coax power. Went to the channel master help website and tested all the components, looks like a bad preamp and varying voltage power supply, its a really pain to remove the antenna and booster but i guess i am returning it. Lost of people have received doa pre-ams but mine died after a week or so.

Second doa unit (no fault of the sellers). Had an older version 7777 that lasted 20+ years. Obviously not the same qc today at channel master (have a pile of channel master cm-7000 digital converter boxes - very good design / poor quality parts). First 7777 amp completely doa (amp and power supply), second unit would pass signal when used w/ a know good power supply, but no amplification of signal. Second unit power supply doa. No more channel master products for us (which is unfortunate). Purchased the rca tvpramp1z amp locally so we could get back to the channels we like sooner and i could return it faster if needed. Would have saved a few $ purchasing it through online store, but wasn't worth the wait after the second disappointment with the 7777. The rca works at least as well as the original cm 7777 we purchased a long time ago. I'm going to put a coat or two of paint on the top part of the plastic housing as uv protection. Hopefully the unit will last us for many years, but if it doesn't it's much cheaper to replace than most other units. Obviously not recommended and zero stars would be more appropriate if possible.

Another doa unit here. I was excited to reveal the beauty of uncompressed digital hdtv to my wife after years of compromise with cable and iptv stealing money out of our wallets, but instead had to pretend that this piece of junk screwing up and not working was all part of my master plan. Boo hiss. Tried the recommended diagnostics - tested the power supply and added multiple splitters and extra coax to reduce the gain just in case i was over driving the tuners. No dice. Sent back and am going to try the similar winegard hda-200 distribution amplifier adjustable gain 5-1000 mhz 24db which offers less overall power, but a nice option in the adjustable gain and lower price point. There is no way charter is going to take another $120 out of my pocket each month for dancing with the stars and the bachelor(ette), something which we can receive free ota in glorious high definition from our local affiliate. And also some manly stuff. I like to watch manly stuff. Did i mention my hot wife?

I live about 60ish miles to nearest antenna. Thought this would help get a stronger signal and possibly more stations. Well, i actually started out getting more stations and a better signal, but after a couple of days lost about 60% of the channels. No clue why. So, i removed the cm-7778 and was able to my original stations back.

L. Ruff, Alaska

I've been happy with my rca ant751r yagi and my winegard xt 200 lna pre-amp here in havana fl. Recently i decided to try this channel master 7777 antenna amp. First, i give the cm7777, 5 plus stars for construction, very durable. Now the 3 star rating. My signals with the 18db winegard are 68 to 80%. With the 30db channel master 7777 they are exactly the same on every channel. No difference, no more channels, no less channels. I was not impressed at all with the performance vs price. The channel master 7777 cost 62 dollars while the winegard xt 200 lna cost only 45 dollars here on online store. I'm sticking with my winegard lna. Sorry channel master. Bottom line is you don't always get more for the money. This amp my help you and situations when dealing with ota signals are never the same in all regions, so, take this review with a grain of salt and research and experiment on your own to see what's best for you and by all means let us know what works for you and where you are. -v-

I live in a difficult signal area and recently lost some channels with my old antenna and pre-amp setup, i tried a new antenna first and when that didn't get me reliable reception on one of the channels i wanted i figured i would try upgrading my old channel master spartan 3 pre-amp to the cm7777. I was able to improve signal strength on most of the channels but the one channel i was really having problems with would not come in at all now, i figured i might be having a signal overload problem so i ordered a 3db and a 6db attenuator today and decided to check all my signal strength readings so i would have something to compare them to when i get the attenuators, while checking this morning i lost all my channels. I read some of the bad reviews here about the cm7777 and saw where someone mentioned the power inserters could fail, i check the transformer without the power inserter and got a reading of 21 volts, i then checked the power inserter voltage and got 0 volts, so my 3 day old cm7777 was no longer working at all. . I still had my old pre-amp power inserter and after checking to see if the voltages were the same i tried using it with the cm7777, it worked but i will wait and see if it lasts before modifying my rating. . *update november 8th*. Lost all channels again, old power inserter still putting out 21 volts so i guess the mast mounted cm7777 pre-amp must be dead now. Maybe i killed with the old channel master power inserter or maybe it was going to die anyways, i only know that i will not be buying anything from channel master again.

Terrible, when hooked to my existing antenna i lost all my channels instead of adding. Bought a channel master long range antenna and had zero channels, reinstalled my old antenna and will live with the few i receive. Better than none.

Only buy this amp if you do not get any channels without an amp. I tried several different antenna setups till i came up with the antennas direct db8e for uhf and the clearstream 5 for vhf. Both of these antennas have a lot of gain without the amp and would not need an amp if you had a roof mount in urban/flatter areas. I live in the rural mountains of western and still had a few channels that the tuner in my tv would find but would not pick up. I got 10 different channels with the antennas mounted on the roof before adding the pre-amp. I could get 1 channel with the antennas lying on the living room floor before the amp. After installing this pre-amp i got 10 channels and they were all the same. That one strong channel overrode everything. I changed to an antennas direct juice pre-amp that they had recommended but i turned down because i didn't think it would be strong enough. The key to this amp is overload protection which is exactly what happened to me. Now i have 16 different channels. The channel master is just what they claim it to be. The amp of last resort! heed their advice and only buy this if you do not have any strong stations. They do offer a lower power amp that i have not tried but that they themselves recommend for most all applications. I would say that this amp would be perfect for those who can get no channels without pre-amp.

W. Sandra, Connecticut

Can't get my antenna to pull in any signal. I live 50 miles from downtown chicago, il. And this should help pulling in channels from that distance. But the led on the power adapter does turn on. Turns out made my signal worse than before i bought it.

This product made in china lasted about 5 months. I first lost vhf and then uhf started to go. Here is the response i received from channel master:. . This junk lasted about 5 months. First vhf went and then uhf started going out. Here is the response i received from channel master:. . "i apologize for the inconvenience - channel master can only refund products that are bought direct. We can't replace the unit under our warranty policy, as it's out of that time frame as well. . Kind regards, . Jordan cullimore. Channel master support". . Look at the antenna craft 30db high gain amp. 10g212. Also made in china so we shall see!

C. Shirley, Baden-Wuerttemberg

This amplifier did a great job. I was able to get channels even further away than i anticipated. Why the two stars? sadly, the unit failed just two weeks shy of one year; with only a 90 day warranty. The symptom was no stations until late in the evening when it cooled off. Even then i could only obtain one uhf digital station. I checked the power supply and found 20volts. I then jumped around the amplifier box and i got more stations. Finally, i connected another amplifier and obtained even more. I bought this unit because of channel masters known quality, but i cannot see myself risking a purchase of this item on an annual basis.

. Kathlene, Poole says

I purchased this with the intent of increasing the signal strength from my outdoor tv antenna to replace a pct 1-port amplifier. Based on the specs (and higher price), i believed that the cm-7777 would offer more amplification than the other unit. I was wrong. The channel master did not provide any measurable upgrade to the pct unit and, worst than that , completely stopped working after about 3 months of use. I still had the pct unit so swapped them out and, viola, i was back up and running. I've had the pct unit for about 3 years with no degradation in performance. I did end up buying a better outdoor antenna which helped my signal strength. I am very disappointed with the cm-7777. Nothing against channel master as i've used their antennas in the past with good results but this particular product did not work for me.

I. Watson, Sutton

This is the third channel master cm-7777 one i bought . The first one lasted a few years. The second channel master lasted a year. The current one only lasted 10 months and now it has when up in price. It is not worth the money. They are china made and no quality control. I hate putting in negative reviews but in this case i hate to see people wasting their money like i did.

P. Jarvis, North Carolina says

As dirty harry famously said. " do you feel lucky? " i remember when channel master antennas & pre-amps used to be better than wineguard. Not anymore since they moved production to china and apparently have slack qc. I went into this purchase knowing that these pre-amps do have their issues. You either get a good one -or- a bad one. I got a bad one. My old pre-amp which i kept when i replaced the antenna consistently would pull in 26 channels, so so on another 15, but it has been slipping lately and it was time to replace. I decided to take the 50/50 gamble and this would only pull in the same 6 channels an indoor set of rabbit ears would get. After several re-positionings of the antenna, i gave up, put the old one back on and got the same 26 channels it got before.

S. Taylor, Virginia

Very disappointed in this channel master cm 7777 titan2 uhf/vhf preamplifier cm7777. I should have believed the bad reviews. This unit was shipped very fast but it arrived dead on arrival. That is why channel master has instructional videos on how to test the power inserter! well i do not have time to qa their poorly made china made product. The power inserter was bad. I returned it. Probably will never buy another preamplifier from channel master.

O. Mays, Cornwall says

I have to admit i was very disappointed with this purchase. I had a cheaper radio shack mast pre-amplifier, but this was recommended as a much better, stronger pre-amp that should result in stronger reception and perhaps additional channels even. The results were the exact opposite. I lost almost every channel i was receiving with the radio shack pre-amp and did not receive any additional channels. Even the closest towers would pixilate at times. Needless to say, i took the cm-7777 back off and replaced with my old radio shack pre-amp; restoring all my previous channels. Perhaps i shouldn't have expected more, but i was just disappointed that performance was worse with the cm-7777.

U. Tracey, Rhone-Alpes

There is nothing quite as depressing as ordering a piece of electronic gear and it arriving dead. However many days you get your hopes up while waiting, and then your delusions of grandeur are quickly deflated as the sobering cesspool that is modern reality comes crashing back all too fast. The first unit would do nothing. This thing would kill the signal the moment i placed it in the signal chain, even before plugging it in. I went from getting a few channels, to no channels at all. But of course i didn't suspect the unit itself to be at fault, but me. So i rechecked all my cables and still nothing. After proving my wiring to be good i had to conclude it was this unit. So i easily had online store replace the unit, not a big deal. This next unit arrived a few days later and same thing. Zero signal. Then the process ensued again of mentally tormenting myself and finding fault in me. I even went so far to replace two pieces of coax in my signal chain "just in case". I had to conclude once again sadly it was doa. But hey this is twice in a row! fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me! this is not online store's problem, online store is faithful, and would no doubt replace this item 100 times if i wanted. My personal theory based on my experience and that of other reviews here saying they received doa, is that cm received a bad batch of these from the manufacturer. I had high hopes for this amp. Based on the 30db of gain spec and the positive reviews, this thing is supposedly a hoss when it works. I called cm and asked them what the heck is wrong here. They claimed it was the "30 db of gain too much" causing it to completely not work in my area and i instead should try the 7778. I personally don't believe that's really whats going on here. Because even if that were true, shouldn't a re scan reveal some strange extremely faint channels i would normally never get while removing others i commonly get? which is not what happened. I went from some channels ota to no channels ota. I was running over 100 foot of rg-6 from the antenna for goodness sake! pretty sure i'm getting some db loss on that but i'm not a cable man. I bought this because of the reviews here that suggested pairing this with the channel master 4228 antenna (which is a phenomenal antenna btw). At this point i would re buy the cm-4228 antenna, but i have no faith in cm amplifiers, and will never buy their amplifiers again.

I got this because we're below street level, and were having a problem bringing in a couple of stations which for some reason were weak, even though using the same transmitter as everything else around here. According to the tv, the overall signal strength for most channels was 75% but for these two channels, it was anywhere from 0-25%. The antenna amp helped a bit, raising the peak signal on the weak stations up to 50%, but they still drop out from time to time. There was no effect at all on any of the stations that were already coming in at 75%, they still are. . Without the amp, the antenna was bringing in anywhere from 96-103 channels, depending on how often the tv was re-tuned. The amp has improved that slightly, as it stays at the top figure and those are all the stations available here.

H. Benton, Illinois

Disapointed. I purchased a radio shack unit and took it back because it wasn't pulling in channels and bought this one. The reason i bought the unit is because customers stated that they were receiving channels that they didn't get before and were increasing channels by 3 to 7 or more channels. Well that isint the case for me. . The channel i wanted to see the most is still intermittant. I have read that if you don't have the signal in the first place that you cannot draw the signal in you can only make what you receive better. Well, i either have a perfect picture that jumps in and out or no picture at all. There is no pixelation and no audio drop outs. It's either there or it's not. Strange that the signal is not always there with or without this unit. If you want to make your pictures clearer this is a very good unit if you have a somewhat decient signal. If you want it to increase distance and pull in the picture from a longer distance, this unit didn't do it for me.

E. Wimbish, Hammersmith and Fulham says

Only lasted about a month then slowly got weaker and weaker. Only worked on sunny days and then not at all.

F. Morgan, Berlin

I got a cm 7777 and 7778 and neither worked at all. I am almost 20 miles from transmission tv towers and with a very cheap preamp get 20 channels. My city has 70 channels locally and this 7778 did absolutely nothing! , . Am sending back to and putting my cheap preamp back on my tv.
