Channel Master Cm3414 4-port Distribution Amplifier Cable Antenna Signal (cm 3414) 2923

Review for distribution amplifier cable antenna

Price was $37.99. I purchased this based on the reputation and reviews. This cured all of my intermittent problems with multiple tv's on an ota antenna system. I would get pixellating on a few distant channels and that is no longer the case, in fact, after doing a re-scan on all tv's, i now get 28 stations vs. 15 prior to installing this distribution amplifier. All channels come in in glorious high definition picture that isn't compressed like it was before i cut the cord on directv.

I purchased this amplified switch to connect all of my tv's to my new ota antenna. I must admit that i wish i had purchased the larger 8 port model but that's the reason for the 4th star. While this switch integrates perfectly where my old satellite tv switch was installed, it does require a separate line to power it. That means you're either going to need to sacrifice a tv port somewhere in your house to power this switch or run a coaxial line (it's powered by the same line that you would plug into your tv for signal) out to the switch from another outlet. I wish there was a way that the powered line could also carry signal so the setup would be a little easier. . It's a channel master switch so it's a quality item that will last for ages. So far, 8 months later, i'm very pleased. Channel Master Cm3414 4-port Distribution Amplifier For Cable And Antenna Signal Review (cm 3414)

I added a tv antenna in my attic and was able to get a signal just a short distance away from the antenna on a temporary tv i had set up. So, i disconnect the temporary tv and hooked up the antenna to a long cable run that went all the way to my basement and then went though a spliter. After the spliter i could not get a signal at any of my tvs. I then started looking for a solution the is problem and i came across this product. There are other products out there that look similar, but i chose this one because channel master has a good name in the industry. Remember this product will be plugged in somewhere in your house 24/7 and i do not want something for an unknown company that could cause a problem. It arrived and looked exactly as pictured above. It was easy to install (there are two holes for mounting) and came with the required power supply. The power supply connects to the booster using a coax cable. After installation, my problems were solved. I am now able to get tv in all rooms of my house with no dropouts. I have been using it for several months with no issues so far. I would recommend this product and purchase again. . Pros:. -boost singal and just works. -small and compact. -good brand name. -easy to mount. . Cons. -none -L. Susana

cm3414 4-port distribution amplifier cable antenna Speakers, Channel master distribution amplifiers, manufactured by channel master's former parent company, pct international, one of the leading manufacturers in the cable telecommunications industry, will boost your digital tv and hdtv signals, increasing their overall signal strength. they have a miniature design which will give you more space to relieve congested installs when space is at a premium. channel master distribution amplifiers are professional grade and meet stringent us and international standards, including those developed by the society of cable telecommunications engineers (scte), who creates international standards for many tv signal distribution products. channel master distribution amplifiers can be used in hdtv, catv, off air, analog and digital rf distribution applications where high performance and reliability are required. the cm 3410 is a high quality ultra mini single output digital tv amplifier with passive return, which means the distribution amplifier does not have any amplification for signals in the return path frequency range (5 42 mhz). this frequency range is used in cable telecommunications networks to allow cable modems and set top boxes to communicate back through the cable network. passive return amplifiers are the most commonly used in house distribution amplifiers by cable operators. channel master distribution amplifiers have precision machined f ports (conforms to scte standards) that are gold plated with beryllium copper construction to provide optimal distribution and amplification of your rf signals. Channel Master Distribution Amplifier Antenna Speakers

  • I have a roof-mount hd antenna pointed at our nearest tower 33 miles away. I just used the house cabling and splitter that directv had left. The antenna was great for a while, but we started getting pixelated channels and others that were too weak to display. We're hosting a super bowl party sunday and i couldn't chance the channel not coming in with 15 impatient viewers. . I installed the channel master amplifier outside our house where the old splitter was. The housing is nice and weatherproofed. I purchased a longer 25' coax cable to power the unit so that it would reach an outlet on the outside of our house; i plan to permanently power it via an outlet in the crawlspace though. . Immediately after connecting everything up, all of our weak and pixelated channels came in clearly! i'm amazed at how such a simple fix resolved all of our issues with weak signal and poor-quality splitters. I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking to overcome degraded signal due to splitters or too many tvs hooked up to the splitter.
  • Channel master cm 3412. . This splitter/amplifier has made a huge difference in our ota reception. The box contained the signal amp/splitter, an ac converter for power, a 6' rf cable to go from the ac converter to the unit and instructions. . We got a new tv and were having some trouble with weak signals and pixellation, which was variable. The signal seemed to be affected by the many trees we have around the house and there is an approximately 60 foot run of coax cable from the roof antenna to the tv location. . As soon as this was plugged in (a 3-4 minute process) the improvement was apparent immediately. Although we are not 100% problem-free, i d say there was a 90% improvement in signal strength, and clarity of the picture. . Occasionally, especially at night or in bad weather, there are intermittent problems when large vehicles go by on the road; and we are about 10 miles from an airport so i think we may be getting some interference from planes taking off and approaching. I don't think there is much i can do about that. (never had a problem with analog tv though! ) but most of the time watching is a pleasure. . I would definitely recommend this item, it s a real bargain problem solver at the price. See picture for what's in the box.
  • I borrowed a booster from my trailer and got 25 channels but i had to use a 12v battery for the test. I purchased the channel master thinking it at least would be the same. I went from 25 to 8 and lost most local channels. Returned the unit. See my review of the wineguard booster.
  • I purchased this the boost the signal of the tv at our lake house, about 50 miles away from the nearest broadcast. The improvement was marginal and i'm not sure it made much of a difference except perhaps in bad weather conditions.
  • I attached 4 tv's, two at 50 ft away one at 65 feet away and one 10 ft away. The outdoor antenna is not amplified and i live within 20 miles of most tv stations, but i live in an area with large trees. Only one of the 50ft tv's got an acceptable picture with occasional signal lost and some pixelation. All other tv's including the 10 ft run were unwatchable except for a handful (3-4) of stations. . I bought small footprint plastic stick-on antenna's from local home store for $4 each that much provide better reception up to 20+ channels depending on the location. . So this unit has turned into a single amplifier for one tv, not efficient but it is working. . Everyone's experience and circumstances are different - best to go in with trial and error thinking.

distribution amplifier cable antenna Channel Master CM3414 4-Port Distribution Amplifier for Cable and Antenna Signal (Switch to Mobile/Desktop Version)

Recently decided to cut the cable cord. Installed an hd antenna on the roof and ran a line into my house. Some stations would lose reception at times and some other stations would not come in very strong so i knew i needed a booster. I have 7 tv's and had a few different splitters down in my basement. There was no question i needed a booster to increase the signal strength. I originally planned on just getting a booster that would connect one or two cable connections and then use splitters from there but when i saw this, i had to purchase it. Made life so much easier having one cable splitter. . This product worked perfectly! i suddenly received more stations on my tv's and the signal strength of each one is great. No more freeze. Great to have just one cable connection for all my tv's. Very happy with it so far.

Click to see NoticeChannel Master Cm3414 4-port Distribution Amplifier Cable Antenna Signal (cm 3414)"Well made, high-quality construction combined with good amplification does the job for feeding my attic antenna signal to 8 rooms in my house. This 8-output unit has the least amplification, 4db, of the channel master cm-34 series, because it has the most outputs. But compared to a passive splitter that reduced the signal, this unit made a big difference. I now receive dozens more tv channels than before. Why not five stars? the labels for the power, signal input and outputs are very poorly marked, almost impossible to read. I suspect that the reviewers who claimed that their amplifiers did not work probably just hooked them up incorrectly due to the faded, dim and tiny labels. The instruction sheet has an illustration of the hookups, but it is only for the 4-port unit. Also, the mounting slots are so small that no wood screws would fit. The wall-wart power adapter blocks several outlets on a power strip. The unit also has a connection presumably for ground, but it is not labelled nor is it mentioned in the instructions."

(0) Question: Can the db gain ever be too much for a tv? is there any danger of over amplifying an already very strong signal into the tv decoder.

(1) Question: Will this boost the signal through all four ports enough for a mini cable box, a cable telephone modem and a high speed internet modem?

(2) Question: Is the gain adjustable?

Winegard LNA-200 Boost XT HDTV Preamplifier, TV Antenna Amplifier Signal Booster, HD Digital VHF UHF Amplifier 10x Power, Low Noise, 20 dB Max Gain - USA

I live 58 miles from the tv stations i was trying to pick up. I bought this antenna, assembled it, and literally just threw it up on the floor of my attic pointed roughly in the direction of the tv stations. I did a scan on my tv, not expecting much, but it came back better than expected. I picked up everything and then some extras i didn't even know of. I was planning on mounting outside the attic when the weather gets better but based on performance so far i don't think i'll need to.

We are in foot hills country at the end of the appalachian range with quite a few mountains and hills between us and the tv transmitting towers. Best long range antenna there is. I have put up 4 of them on different properties in the last few years. Combine them with the channel master cm777 and we went from 0 channels to 12. Technically we went to 18 channels but 6 of the channels are duplicates.

- . WaytI normally don't write much on reviews but when a product exceeds expectations i have to. I live 95 mile from closest tower and bought an 8 element bow tie antenna and this wine guard amp. The first amp was faulty and did not work. I sent a message to seller and they were more than nice on response and promptly sent a replacement . When i put new wine guard amp on antenna i was blown away with reception. I got 34 channels! the highest signal strength i got is 56% bye bye $ 106. 00 a month dish tv. Hello free tv! the way it is supposed to be. Thank you wine guard for an excellent product .

Surprised everyone isnt listing their locations. Anyways, my location is downtow san jose, 41 miles from the closest towers(north west towards sf). So i purchased the winegard hd7694p along with the winegard amp and combine this with my xbox one and the xbox tv turner($50) and now i have comcast or direct tv type viewing of all the local channels i wanted. I have to tell u that it has far exceeded my expectations. Im now receiving fox, nbc, abc, cbs, cw, ion, a music video channel, all pbs's. Just in time for super bowl too. I installed it to an abandoned direct tv satellite base above my apartment building 30ft from ground level using a 50ft coaxial cable. Highly recommend u combine this with the xbox one because of the extra guide features and the fact you can pause live tv for up to 30mins. I also purchased the xtreme signal hdb91x xtreme long range yagi style vhf/uhf hdtv antenna here on online store for my father because he is 80miles from the sf towers so i'll be putting up a review of that one next week once installed.

Channel Master CM-4228HD High VHF, UHF HDTV Antenna

I bought this antenna to replace cable for my network channels (cbs, nbc) although the towers are only 40ish miles away i bought the 80 mile antenna so i could mount it in my attic. I was able to easily put it up in a morning and the reception is fantastic.

This antenna has a signal range of 60 miles and will pick up available local digital and hd signals. With an hd television you will pick up any crystal clear hd signals being broadcast in your area.

Channel Master Cm-4228hd High Vhf, Uhf Hdtv Antenna FAQ.

Works very well at 35 miles away, it says its 180 degrees with getting a signal, i would say that is only 60 degrees, but every other antenna i tested was about the same, but this one gets vhf and uhf at 35 miles which is very good so this one wins! -Notice from J. Peggy, Texas

Works better than the old one i had that claimed to be a 60 miles radius but was only about 40. I am about 45 miles away from most stations in my area with a good amount of trees. On a windy day or bad weather it cuts out a lot but on a calm day most channels come in perfectly. I could cut down more trees but it's not worth it when we don't watch regular tv that often.

Channel-master-cm-4228hd-high-vhf,-uhf-hdtv-antenna set picture

- E. JulieTried several other antennas. This one is receiving broadcast from 12 stations about 55 miles away. You must be able to adjust height and placement of any antenna. Had cheaper rotating antennas which do not last long until they deteriorate. Channel master has had great product for many years. If you are in a deep, wooded valley, no antenna will perform well unless antenna is placed a few feet above tree line.

I am subscribing to limited basic cable with my internet service - meaning i'm paying $25 a month for channels i can get for free over the air. I live in the indianapolis, in suburbs, so not far from the towers. I installed this antenna in my attic ( 15 feet in the air as i live in a ranch), and my reception is crystal clear for all indy channels (and even some from other cities further away). Installation was super easy and i'm excited that i now can put that $25 a month to faster internet speeds, which is what we need since we stream most tv.

Channel Master LTE Filter Improves TV Antenna Signals

I got 5 cell towers within a 5 mile radius. Something was broadcasting a non-tv signal on uhf 61 really strong. Put this in to filter it. Be careful with the cheap ones they filter 800mhz and up this one does 700mhz and up. British have a different filter requirement than the us. 700mhz and up in the us have been sold to lte folks.

The channel master lte filter is designed to clear your ota tv signal path from the common interference created by mobile lte signals. The proliferation of lte signal towers and connected lte devices are a common cause of intermittent television signal disruption because mobile carriers operate on frequencies that can be very close to your broadcast tv frequencies. These disruptions can result in weak signals, pixilation or even channel loss, and can be especially disruptive when using an amplifier with your tv antenna.

Channel Master Lte Filter Improves Tv Antenna Signals (cm3201) FAQ.

The channel master lte filter has ended the tv broadcast disruption caused by cell phone signals. The lte filter has to be screwed directly into the tv, then the antenna cable needs to be plugged into the lte filter. On my older tv and antenna, i have screwed in an amplifier into the lte filter and the antenna cable into the amplifier. I receive about 50 stations that are quite clear and consistently on. -Notice from E. Isabel, Montana

I was having issue with chan 2 los angeles. Signal strength going back and forth from fine to pixelization. Put this filter before my distribution amp and the issue resolved. I dont see any signal loss either.

- P. ElanorAll i can say is wow! . But i'll say more anyway. I'm in houston about 12 miles north of the antenna farm where most of the tv signals originate. Most of the channels come in fine with no assistance but channel 49. 1, ion tv, has gotten worse lately with a lot of pixelation. With a properly aimed antenna in the attic feeding a drop amp, my tv showed a signal strength/quality of 34 when watchable (for channel 49. 1) dropping to below 30 where it was pixelated or gone altogether. While the tv's signal numbers are meaningless by themselves, it does show the relative differences between other channels - most being in the high 70's to mid 90's. Since we do watch ion tv, i bought a winegard lna 100 antenna amplifier which boosted the signal to the 46-51 range and was almost perfect with just some occasional pixelation. I also noticed that at certain times the signal would drop sharply and become highly pixelated and unwatchable. . In researching the problem i learned about how former station frequencies above channel 50 had been reallocated to 4g lte services and about filters. It sounded like i might need one since there's a cell tower just a block away. There are two readily available filters; an inexpensive one from the uk and the channel master. They are similar but not the same! originally, the frequency reallocation was for channels 57 - 69 and that is what the mercury unit from the uk filters. However the reallocation was expanded to include everything over channel 50 which is what the channel master filter covers (see their website). . So now on to the results (drum roll). When the filter arrived i turned on channel 49. 1 to see how it looked. Fortunately - at least for testing purposes - the signal reading was 33 and the picture was highly pixelated and unwatchable. I installed the filter inline between the antenna feed and before the lna 100 amplifier. Boom bada bing! the signal reading jumped to 46, the picture had no pixelation whatsoever and my wife thinks i'm a genius! . . Keep in mind that if your tv signal woes are not caused by 4g lte interference this isn't the product you're looking for. Unfortunately the only way you'll know is to try it.

I had my doubts but kept hearing about this little filter on cord cutting groups. It works for us, more channels no more signal issues here.

The F.A.Q. for channel master cm3414 4-port distribution amplifier for cable and antenna signal

My project was to setup two antennas in my attic that would then be connected to four tv's. According to tvfool. Com i am located approximately 50 miles from all the green bay and milwaukee stations. Since the antennas are in the attic and the building materials could decrease the signal strength by up to 30%, it was decided to purchase two antennas with a 60+ mile range (winegard hd-9032 uhf prostar 1000 tv antennas). The antennas are sitting two feet apart at the same height, the west antenna is targeted 342 degrees and the east antenna is targeted 192 degrees. The cables (rca rg6 quad shield coax cable, 3ghz) from the baluns are the same length 2 feet each which are connected to a combiner (rca dh24spf, 3ghz bi-directional splitter/combiner), the rg6 cable from the combiner is 1 foot long that is connected to a preamplifier (channel master cm-7778 titan 2) which is mounted in the attic. From there we ran a 25 foot rg6 cable to the basement which is connected to a 4-port distribution amplifier (channel master cm3414). With this setup we receive all the channels listed by tvfool. Com and then some. So we are very pleased with all the products listed above. Total cost of project was less than $240. 00, total savings from discounting cable will be approximately $1050. 00 per year. . Good bye cable!

I was using the terk antenna with amplifier. I tried the winegard antenna booster with it. It worked ok, but i would have to adjust the coaxil cable connected to the antenna which affected the signal. I got most stations clear, with a few stations being a royal pain in the butt to try and get clear reception. I did this for at least 2 years or so , after getting rid of that monthly cable bill. I opted for ota stations. Saved alot of money. I am extremely happy that i decided to get the channel master cm-3410 1 port amplifier. I also ordered the lte filter. 99 % improvement of channel reception and loss of pixelation of pictures. Now every channel is crystal clear. I live in new york city, so there are many obstructions to receiving a clear picture. I would highly recommend the channel master signal amplifier. I had 55 channels before, but some had weak signal strength. Now i have 63 channels, and every channel is nice and clear. What a relief. And no monthly cable bill.

I tried to cut the cable a few years ago and was very frustrated. I went for it again and the channel master amplifier/distribution unit really did the trick. It helped boost the gain on my hd signal and now i am enjoying the free tv and not paying out ridiculous sums to the cable providers. Does require ac power, but it was easy to hook and and combined with the compact antennage 33692 attic mount hd antenna - long range - compact design with mount for vhf / uhf channels - 60 mile range they have worked wonderfully. Other than running the coax cable, the set up on both took no time at all. If you are tired of wasting money on 75 channels of nothing, this is a good bet to solve the question.

This distribution amplifier was a big improvement over a channel plus da 506 6 output unit. This channel master 4 port system drastically improved the signal on all 4 tv's and brought in several more stations. I used it together with a previously installed roof mounted channel master 4228 antenna and a winegard lna-200 boost xt digital hdtv preamplifier. I might not have needed the preamp if i tried this distribution amp first, but the pre-amp is installed, so it will stay. I'm in coastal de, no no real hills. I've used this same distribution amp in a townhouse where cable was cut and a pair of different direction attic antennas are used. Note that the distribution amp gain drops when you buy models with more outputs, so get the smallest number of outputs amp you need. I am re-purposing the channel plus unit with an attic mounted fm antenna serving several receivers.

Well built and feels fairly heavy duty. I "cut the cord" about a month ago with a ota antenna and split the signal to 3 tvs. It worked ok but the guide data was very slow to fill in and some channels were choppy or had audio blips sometimes. . I got rid of all the splitters and used this. Very simple. Attache the antenna and power lead (included) to the top two posts, i connected the cables for the 3 tvs to the bottom posts and put a 75 ohm terminator on the unused post (don't know if that is necessary but i did it anyhow). . The tvs all get great signals on each station that my antenna is able to receive (even the ones that were somewhat weak before) and the guide data files in quick and smoothly. Very happy with this product so far.

H. Nielsen, Lewisham says

Don't mess around. This works and the picture quality is beyond excellent. I feed from attic down to the basement, then plug into antennae input. Plug power source into channel master and then start distributing signal to all rooms in the house. Kill your cable or dish and go back to the good old days of free tv. I think i paid $8 mo in the late '80's for cable. That wasn't so bad. I don't know anyone getting by for less than $100 mo nowadays and for tons of crap programming. Add online store firestick and you'll be cooking with gas. Join the revolution and return to free tv again, or at least put your self in control of programming and costs

V. Margaret, South Gloucestershire

I purchased an outdoor antenna and installed it in a utility room just behind the av system in a first floor ground level living room in a house with aluminum siding. The antenna points out a double wooden patio door in the direction of all the stations i want but also toward lots of blockage by other houses. Before going through the hassle of mounting the antenna outside, i tried this amplifier attached very near the antenna. It helped and raised the signal strength of all the channels as determined by the tv's internal power meter. However, it was not enough to do the trick and walking between the antenna and the patio doors breaks up the signal, however, some of those stations i was not able to even get before the amplifier. The house is basically a metal can with holes for doors and windows and apparently quite a challenge for any indoor antenna. I guess i'll have to get out that ladder . . .

T. Jessica, Massachusetts says

I was a bit skeptical as to whether this device would be an effective way to distribute coax connections from a hdtv antenna that i have mounted in my attic. The previous unit i had came from comcast and i decided a few years ago to cancel my cable tv service, which included several x1 boxes and 3 other standard cable boxes. I used the old comcast 8-port distribution amplifier in conjunction with the 8 element bowtie indoor/outdoor hdtv antenna - 70 mile range ($127) and the winegard ds-2000 universal 22-inch tower mount for off-air tv antennas (1. 5in diameter mount pipe) - includes 2 u-bolts, fit 1in to 2in pipe/towers ($12. 50). Using this setup with the old comcast 8-port distribution amplifier only allow me to pull in 24-29 channels 50 miles from atlanta with many being crystal clear, however, many were not so great and dropped in an out frequently. When using the old comcast device and when it got cold outside, say 40 degree, or it rained, my channel reception would drop to around 10 channels. So a few months ago, the old comcast device failed and i decided to give this channel master cm3418 8-port distribution amplifier a shot, since it was only $38 bucks. I thought to myself, well it can't be any worst than what i had in place originally. Since i was in the process of making this change, i also decided to include the channel master cm-7777hd tv antenna amplifier with adjustable gain ($69 direct from channel master) while i'm at. To say that i am extremely pleased with the outcome, well that would be an understatement! the combination of these two devices totally exceeded my expectations! i have been able to pull in 90+ channels on all my hdtvs. All clear as they can be. The days of regretting dropping my expensive cable tv service and hearing the family complain are gone. We are all very pleased with the results for the price of one month's cable bill.

Q. Pamela, Buckinghamshire

I have to admit that i started the return for this item. I had hooked it all up and nothing worked. No better that without it. Then i looked at the video of the products and found out that this will not increase the signal only boost the split of signal so i got a unit to pre amp the signal & now everything works great. Four stars because this information should be inside the installation guide.

F. Medina, Alaska says

This thing is amazing. My channels come in much stronger now. I wonder how much electricity it uses, since it's on all the time, but i would guess not a lot. Regardless, it's the difference between being happy i cut the cable cord. It has a green light that shines all the time, i guess to let you know it's working. Ironically, i felt that i got better reception without it when it was unplugged. . They also make models with more splitters if you need more than two. If you live 30 miles from the antennas or more, i would recommend all antenna users to get this. You'll probably get more channels as a result. Raising the antenna helped, too, and implementing both gives the best results.

. Clara, Alsace

I had a few long runs of coaxial cable through the house from my dual antenna array, and was experiencing the insertion loss due to a couple of splitters used along the cable. This cured it. Not only do i get rid of the insertion loss, this distribution amp provides a little extra juice to help the signal along its way. It will work even better once i can get outdoors to reduce the length of the coax by bringing it into the house at a point closer to the tuners. (in addition to a connected tv, i use this with the hdhomerun connect duo. ) this does not feel cheap either-the unit has a lot of heft to it. It is very well made. The only odd thing is that the power supply uses a coaxial cable to provide power, although i do understand why it's done. Channel master is a long-established and trusted brand, and this product does not disappoint. It's worth paying extra.

P. Lewis, Swindon says

We live about 45 miles away from the broadcast towers with an attic antenna. It worked for most channels, most of the time. Abc and a couple others would skip occasionally which was really annoying. It is a pretty large antenna that could likely be realigned to improve signal but it probably wouldn't be enough to completely correct the issue. It's a two story house with an attic and basement so the cable runs are long. The antenna comes from the attic down to the basement, is split, and then distributed throughout the house. . Before this, i tried a new 4 way splitter. It seemed to help a bit but definitely not enough. I unhooked the cables from the old splitter, installed them on the new amplified splitter, and mounted it to the 2x4 studs with screws from the old splitter. . I'm not sure how big of difference it makes, but i did ground this one where the old one was not grounded. This is an error on my part as the ground cable was already there and connected to the copper plumbing. . I also get a lot more channels now. Some of these are from different markets that we probably shouldn't even get. Don't be surprised if you pick up some more channels due to the increased signal strength. . Only con is this should come with two screws to make installation faster and easier. Otherwise, great product. If you have long coax runs and have a low signal strength due to distance or obstructions, try this.

. Gladys, Cumbria

I have nothing bad to say about this thing. It runs cool, silent, and performs as claimed. Perhaps an adjustable gain would be nice. Oh yeah, the labeling to the ports were faded and difficult to read, as if they sat in the sun for some time. . I used a sadoun 4-way amp - splitter for at least 15 years with no problems, and it is still working. It was running rather warm compared to this cm. While making a switch to cable modem, i fretted rewiring my house to make use of the last port to run to the modem when i realised that i didn't need the 3rd tv and could just split one of the 2 ports on this amp to get a stronger signal than originally planned with the 4-way splitter. Now everything is great.

R. Carol, Wyoming says

Bought this to go with my cheapo outdoor antenna as i was experiencing signal loss splitting to 2 tv's. This little baby fit the bill and then some! i gained 8 additional channels on one tv that had a very poor tuner and now all channels come in great on both sets with very little drop off. The only thing i experience sometimes seems to be a signal sync issue and it will drop for 1-2 seconds and come right back up. It's so minimal that it doesn't really bother me at all. Once it warms up outside, i will tweak the antenna to increase reception. All in all, i completely cut the cord with my cable company and my savings have easily paid for 2 antennas, 2 splitters and 2 dragon boxes (don't know what these are? message me and i'll get you fixed up! ).

O. Delgado, Oregon says

I just installed this antenna in the attic and it works very well. It would have rec 5 stars if the attic instructions would have been included along with more information like grounding. Some say it still needs ground and surge protection some say not. I live in southern texas where we get alot of storms full of lightening. Now im trying to find out about how to protect it. I spent 70 on 3 of those little plastic digital antennas and they work ok but nothing like this reception and this cost less. Ive got 109 channels compared to 56 with those others. I recommend this product for the attic. Ive got 4 tvs hooked up all with great pictures.

D. Wayt, Doncaster

Channelmaster is the "cadillac" of the over-air tv world from decades ago. This amplifier works perfectly and is "professional quality". I used this on a system where i mounted two cm-4228hd's antennae perpendicular to each other on a 20 ft. Pole (they need to be 5 feet apart vertically) and joined them with a channelmaster jointenna (cm-0500), then fed that into this 4-channel distribution amplifier (cm-3414) to feed the whole house. We ran rg-59 cable from this amp to 4 tv's with runs of 40, 50, 60, and 65 feet. The signal at each tv is strong. This setup gives us 360 degree reception without needing to adjust a rotor when we change the channel on the tv. Awesome picture - better than we had on cable. Couldn't be happier!

U. Shirley, Shropshire says

Works beautifully. Without this plugged in, i was able to pull in 18 channels but the only main network channel i could get consistently was fox. Cbs would randomly come in but with frequent signal loss, nbc never came in. With it plugged in, i get 25 channels including cbs, fox, and nbc. I still dont get abc but this is due to my location - the abc tower within range is in a different direction. Based on what i've read, only a 2nd antenna would allow me to get abc. . I live 32 miles from the nearest towers and in a very rural area. I was told by a antenna company that based on my location i would need to attach a pole 60 feet above my house to get reception. I tried this as a last ditch effort and am thrilled that it worked.

. Juliana, Indiana

Very solid, easy to work with, and good looking to boot. . Had a bit of an issue with the included power supply. There is no documentation, included or online, that explains what the led on the front of the power supply means when lit or out. Would be five stars if they'd not wasted a day of my time trying to solve that puzzle (maybe a quarter inch of column space in their manual would have done it).

Y. Hannah, Slough says

Bought one and mounted near my tivo as no power in the attic. I ended up with better signal and picked up a near station, with the signal strength meter going from the weak station s low thirties previously, to the low 50 s now, and my strong stations 90-100. Still have pixelation on one station but a lot more rarely. . I also picked up an occasional drop out on channel 15 with great signal strength. The signal strength indicator was cycling up and down by over 10-15 points, and the drop out occurred as it peaked in the cycle. It indicated a possible issue with the boosted signal and that frequency i thought but thought it unsolvable until i also got a herringbone pattern on the main menu, and realized it was an rf interference issue caused by the proximity to the receiver. The proximity can t be helped so i wrapped the amphlipher in aluminum foil and it fixed it. Just need to verify i didn t create an overheating problem for the device. . Likely the technical team would have identified this had i called. The company appears outstanding, but just know that this, and. Any amplifier, that isn t heavily shielded, will cause interference issues with your reception. Separating the two components is the easiest solution or you can wrap yours like i did.

. Kristen, Georgia

Installed this distribution amp along with a roof mounted antenna. I used it to feed the signal to four tvs in the house. Works as advertised, all tvs get a great signal. There's so much misinformation and lack of knowledge about over the air tv. I did my research at antennaweb. Org. Just enter your zip code and street address and the site lets you know if you'll receive any signals and if so what antenna you'll need. I selected my antenna and tried it to one tv and got 60 stations, 23 miles from nyc. However, each time you split the signal to another tv you cut the signal strength in half. This is why i chose this product. The distribution amplifier restores the signal strength. The antenna gets all three major networks, fox, pbs, etc. , many in hd. All together i paid $70 for the antenna, $43 for the amp and $30 for a hundred feet on rg6 quad core cable all shipped to the house for free. A one time investment of $143 to get free tv for life!

S. Paige, West Virginia says

I have 5 tvs attached to a small amplified bowtie antenna. Splitter box is located in one corner of the attic where the cable feed came in. Some of the coax cable runs exceed 100 feet. I installed this amplified splitter and all of the tvs get a strong signal, regardless of the number of tvs on or the distance from the splitter. While i didn't make a pre-installation test for comparison, my system performs well and i am pleased with the extra assurance this amplified splitter provides. I consider the cost to be quite reasonable.

. Lawrence, Colorado

Important: most people have no idea what this does, hence the bad ratings. It doesn't "boost" your antenna signal. It takes the signal your antenna received and then amplifies that so you can send it along the wire inside your house to your various tvs in different places. You might only get 10-20 feet from your antenna to your tv with a high quality cable. And you still may have signal loss as you go further away from your tv. This makes sure that you can put your antenna in the best place possible (highest and pointed at broadcast towers) and then you connect this device near to the antenna and run up to 4 cables out to the various places in your home that you need the tv signal. . Well built and solid piece of equipment. Glad i didn't buy the cheap ones and save just $3-5. This came with a cable and i've got it running at least 50-60 feet if not more to an tv input and it works extremely well. Without it there is absolutely no signal at all. I have 3 ports that i'm using and all are working perfectly for hdtv in various ranges, over 30 channels.

E. Anonymous, Oregon says

This device is worth double what i paid. After swapping cables, which the cable provider claimed the problem was, and then swapping tv's, it was clear my problem was my tv. This device solved the issues of freezing and pixelating several times an hour. It was very frustrating and annoying. Every time it happened i'd have to switch channels and then back again and all was well for a few minutes or so. Since my issue was my tv, i had doubts something like this would help. After about 5 hours with this device i noticed just a couple times where it showed a quick flash of pixelation and if i'd have blinked at the time, i'd have missed it. This device does come with 1 cable but if you have just one other coming from the wall jack to the tv, you'll need 1 more, but they're cheap. Also, i had a question and called the company and they actually answered the phone within 5 minutes.

I. Meredith, Dudley

This was the solution i needed! . I've seen some folks have had failures but if you adhere to good radio frequency, dc power and earth grounding practices, this amplifier should give excellent life and performance. Electro-static discharge (esd) can destroy these while you are installing, so ground yourself and avoid touching the center conductors while working. One tip; keep the antenna-side coax as short and high quality (low loss) as possible. Terminate all unused outputs using 75ohm caps and if needed, seal all connections against the elements. (coaxseal is optimal for this) but a case or cover over the amp is best to keep everything tidy and out of sunlight exposure. I used a small white plastic box inverted over my installation. . From antenna to the amp i use a 25 foot rg6 cable with factory made (rca is pretty good) connector terminations although i can tailor my own cables. I feed this amp from a 20 foot pole with a home-made antenna that is nothing more than a wood 2x4 and about 7 feet of bare 16 ga thhn copper wire bent into a zigzag dipole array and using no back reflector and feeding through a flat-lead to type f balun. I got the design off the internet but past designs and experience has shown the wire gage and element shaping is not critical but secure connections are very important for maximum gain and signal transfer. I receive something like 64 channels and half that is rubbish, but that's not the antenna's fault.

My wife and i had a poor wifi signal and the cable would cut out. Her brother in law suggested we look into one of these. Install was rather easy. Took a little creativity to run power but nothing hard. Since installing we now get full strength wifi anywhere in the house. The backyard/patio use to be a dead zone. And the router is just inside of the sliding glass door. This unit took care of that problem. Also helped with out cable tv cutting out.

Excellent product, very easy to use. I had installed an ota antenna some time back and was able to pick up most stations in my living room just fine, however, in my office i was missing several stations completely. Since they all run off the same antenna and i could get some stations in my office, i found this to be odd. So, i went ahead and purchased this unit along with a "pct series pctmpi1g power inserter for distribution amplifiers" and had it up and running within a few minutes. Not only was the signal much stronger in my living room, but it was good and strong for all stations in my office also. Still need to run more cables elsewhere, but i'm positive this will handle them just fine. . You might ask why i got the "power inserter" mentioned above? this box is very well made and weatherproof, so i located it outside under my eaves where i split off antenna signal to my different rooms. However, the power supply that comes with it is made to hook directly in to the box and be plugged in right next to it, but i didn't have a power outlet there. The power inserter allows me to insert the power right before my tv where i do have power and use the same cable to go back to this box. Normally the power alone would go into the top left input shown in the picture, which is clearly marked. When using the power inserter, the bottom left plug is clearly marked as being available for both power and antenna combined. The two work great together. . That might be my only complaint is that i was a bit cautious trying to figure out what to use. It's not clearly documented in the descriptions. I was cautious in getting a different brand power inserter for this, had a "channel master" version been available on online store i would have gone with that. With some research i felt fairly comfortable going this way though. I would have gladly spent a bit more money to get a channel master distribution amp that included the power inserter with it though!

Disadvantage and Critical reviews

L. Ophelia, Windsor and Maidenhead says

Doesn't work at all. Exactly the same as without the amplifier. No more channels, no signal improvement. Simply nothing, except the fact that is consums energy for nothing. Will return it tomorrow. Waste of time and money!

F. Carol, Rhode Island

I bought this thinking since it was a major name brand, it would work better than the flimsy plastic ones that come with some antennas. I was wrong, i hooked this up and got some channels but when i hooked up the cheap plastic version that came with antenna, i got many more channels and the signal was much stronger also than the ones this amplifier did pick up. Returning for poor signal quality with this amplifier.

N. Lorenz, Medway says

This was recomended to me by channel master. I have an antenna on the roof which works well. I am 65 miles from a major city. So when i installed a splitter for a second tv the signal strength was reduced substantially and neither tv would pick up anything. The channel master unit was supposed to compensate for the loss that occurs when using a standard splitter. I installed the cm amp exactly as per instructions. To my surprise it was exactly the same as using a standard splitter. No channels received after doing another channel scan. I contacted tech support and after a very long time on hold i got to speak to a lady who knew less than me. As it turns out they give you a tech support number to call, but you dont get to speak to a technician. The person you speak to relays your question to a technician then comes back to you with an answer, however a lot was lost in the translation. In short i got no help, they will not put you through to a technician so i am sending the unit back. Very dissapointed. Really thought it would solve my problem.

X. Aldana, Wiltshire

The amplifier boosted the antenna signal sufficiently to allow reception on channels previously unavailable. My complaint is with the amplifier labeling and the instruction sheet. The labeling on the amplifier was incomplete and confusing, and printed so small that i couldn't read it without a magnifying glass. The instructions were not written in plain english language and didn't match the labeling. For example, one instruction read "install type f-male connectorized rf coaxial cable. " however, three of the four printed pages covered the product warranty, and were apparently written by the legal department because the writing was very precise and correct. . The quality control on the amplifier labeling and the instructions was inadequate but the amplifier worked as described.

Update 3-9-2018. Further below is my original review which was 5 stars. I am knocking off a few stars, mainly because i feel like for $30 it should do it's job pretty well and be done with it. It's not working as well as it did originally, and i'm thinking of returning it. . It did work well at first (summary: i have 3 tv's all fed from yagi style long range amplified antenna in attic, which leads to omni directional controller box that came with it. The two upstairs tv's (one fed direct from the out on that box, and the other from that boxes second out to the in on the channel master dist amp and then the out from it) get all the channels i expect in clear hd. The downstairs tv being fed by by a long coax from this distribution amp seemed to get all the channels with the addition of this amp, and i was very happy. Without it (was using non-powered splitter) multiple channels were choppy and cut in and out. Well, now the same thing is happening even with the dist amp, but the upstairs tv's still get all get the channels fine (so it's not like signal fluctuation from antenna - if they still get all the channels fine). If i connect a tv from the same out port of the distribution amp that the downstairs tv is being fed from, with a shorter coax cable, it works. Basically the long cable is the issue. But i have to use a long cable since it's running from upstairs down. The point of this purchase, was to power the long run so it would work, but seems to be hit or miss. Sometime ok, sometimes not. . I should mention, i bought another long coax cord (25 foot, making sure it was the rg6 and not rg5) to see if the long coax cord was maybe the issue, but it made no difference. Actually, that was the first thing i tried before even buying this dist amp. . I'm thinking of getting a coax to hdmi converter and seeing if that will work. I'm hoping hdmi works better over a 25 foot distance than coax. If that does work, then i have another headache to deal with, as the converter boxes have remote controls, but i'd want to use a short coax from dist amp (or splitter if elect to return the dist amp) to the coax to hdmi converter, with a long hdmi going downstairs, so my downstairs tv would need to be controlled by a remote (on hdmi source) with a box that was upstairs. Not sure how i'm going to solve that one. Frustrated. . -. . Original review. . This distribution amplifier is exactly what i needed and works exactly as i hoped it would. Our basic cable bill (for just the local abc, nbc, cbs, fox, pbs, cw, ) had gotten out of hand with cable company. Way too expensive for just basic cable. I decided to get a long rang amplified antenna (roof or attic mount). We are in a valley 30 miles from nearest tv towers. A relative had tried a basic antenna at his home down the street a while back and was only able to pick up nbc. My long range amplified antenna did better even mounted in the attic (didn't need to mount on roof). I get all the previously mentioned major local channels (except fox, but i knew that going into it - because their signal is super weak in our area). All channels are in crystal clear hd, and much better than the cable i was paying for. The coax cable from the antenna goes to a powered box (which came with the antenna) and provides amplification, omni-directional control, and two outs to split the signal. Both tv's get all channels off each out. So i tried a third tv downstairs with a splitter. I lost 4 of the channels on downstairs tv that way. So i tried using same the splitter and a shorter coax and it works fine on third tv. So, i suspected the issue was too long of coax cord. I bought this distribution amp and now the downstairs tv (being fed by a long coax cord) gets all the channels. I am very pleased. It does what it's supposed to do.

Works great when it works. Disappointed in how long it lasted before it died. Only worked for about 5 months and then quit. Of course it only has a 90 day warranty. They must not have much faith in there product. I also had purchased an 8-port channel master amplifier and it too quit after about 6 months. I'm now on my 3rd 8-port one. If it dies soon also i'll never buy one of this brand again.

C. Nees, Brent says

Without- somewhat reliable signals from my local stations. With- now picking up all local stations plus three more that are each 90 miles away. Crystal clear, no problems. -. Update: less than three months later- product does not work. Tv now picks up zero channels. Removed the cm amp from the equation and was able to pick up some channels, though not as many as when the cm amp was actually working. Cm only offers a 30-day return policy so i guess i'm out of luck on this one. Very disappointed. Will be looking at a winegard now. Comparably priced and a one-year warranty.

K. Amanda, Western Australia

The connection hookup is great. Then i ran a test. My tivo said the weak channel was 44 dbm before i put this in place. After it was 44dbm. No difference. I wrote for tech help because it says is has a 12db gain. Where is it? back and forth with tech, me explaining in detail (i am an electronic engineer) that the product was not delivering the advertised signal improvement. Finally they gave in and said it was a powered splitter and not to expect any gain. :-( so as a splitter it works just like my $9 from fry's. So it went back.

G. Palmer, Maine says

Did not work for me. I was replacing a 10 year old one with this newer one and i lost close to 15 tv station i used to get. I put my old one bac on and got my stations beck. I returned item for a refund.

V. Guest, Indiana

Product worked good for a month, then something failed inside the unit and it did not work anymore. It took me a while to figure out what was wrong, so there was a lot of frustration. I ordered a new one and it works great! i never received any response from the seller or manufacturer during the 90 day warrantee period. I hope this one lasts a lot longer. It is pretty expensive if i have to buy a new one every month!

. Candy, Hessen says

This unit might work for you but after i replaced my old distribution block left behind by the cable company with this new item connecting 1 tv at a time and testing the signal was much worse. With my old unit i scanned the tv's(3) and received 37 channels after installing this unit and scanning only 1 tv i received 3 channels and not a very good signal. I had my hopes up that this unit would help some of the weaker signals after reading reviews. But that was not the case.

Q. Gloria, Ohio

Did not work for me. It actually made reception worse. When i tested the signal it was about 30% weaker than without it. I also saw occasional spikes that were off the chart on my signal monitor. Was it overamplification? defective unit? i'm not sure but the way it behaved seemed defective or broken to me. I later bought an rca antenna booster from the local home store and connected it to the main antenna cable before a regular splitter and it improved the signal on both tvs better than it had ever been before. Though it was a small boost, it was enough to solve my problems.

T. Brendon, Florida says

After i finished hooking up and plugging the channel master cm3418 8 port distribution amplifier i felt a big disappointment. I could only see snow and pixelling on the screen of my tv. Then i thought of the terk 15 15 db amp that i had saved for a rainy day. After hooking up the two, presto! the images were so good i could not believe it. Sorry. I can only rate this product 2 stars. It failed, alone, to satisfy my expectations. I bought it to replace a radio shack 4 port distributor amplifier just because i needed additional ports. I'm saving it too for a rainy day in case the channel master fails.

P. Gladys, St. Helens

Item arrived new, installed per instructions, all brand new, self-terminated cabling, new hdtv antenna on third story roof. Actually reduced the signal strength coming from my antenna. Have connected to a single tivo roamio box that has signal strength indicator. Was getting average 72% signal, adding this brought it down to 45%. Unit was lit, solid power, solid led on unit, used supplied power brick. Very disappointed. Not at all worth the money.

E. Dorine, West Virginia says

Purchased hoping this device would give a small boost to "over-air" tv signal for one channel that drops/looses signal intermittently. Connected and configured as described in instructions and this device made no detectable boost or amplification. It actually seemed to degrade the signal slightly. Returned to online store for refund.

U. Guest, Ile-de-France

Nice product, but. Did not work for my ota antenna signals. Maybe it over amplified? i lost 8 channels, cbs and abc. The cbs tower is only 12 miles from my home. Nice construction and super easy set up, but did not work in my case. Had to return.

. Stacey, Bretagne says

Did not work at all. Looks sturdy but my other splitter i received with my dish works way better than this one and without plugging into electricity. Very disappointed with this product.

I. Noguera, Mississippi

I purchased on 11/25/2015. It was delivered a week later. Worked fine until yesterday 4/6/2016. Now when plugged in i drop about half of my networks. Unplugged i get more than when plugged in. Hopefully channel master will be helpful, but i'm not hopeful. Four months of use is obviously not acceptable.

S. Jarvis, Hartlepool says

I had 33 channels with my previous amplifier installed and this one pulled in six channels. About what i get with no amplifier installed at all. I don't understood how it worked so well for so many other people.

R. Heidi, Poole

I purchased this channel master cm-3410 amp 2 months ago and it quit working . The system and power source are sealed so there is no. Checking or repair . I also purchased the square trade two year protection plan for this unit but are not able to get a response from them. Dont know what to do but tell you to be careful

W. Michele, Colorado says

Had 70-ch before install. Most were weak stations. My antenna is a shakespeare omni with 25ft of rg-6 cable. The writing is very small/barely readable. After installing the channel master 3410, i had 3 channels. Not sure if there is a way to check the 3410 in/output but nothing. Waste of money.

J. Marguerite, Oregon

This seemed like a good idea, but i'm still not sure i like it all that much. I was just using a splitter before, and was losing signal from that, but i still got 25 channels. Installed this device, and the first time i ran the scan i only got four channels. I'm back to 17 but still less than what i had before. I'm calling their tech support for advice, b ut if it doesn't work better they are going back. I ought three of these things, and so far i'm not really happy with any of them.

A. Ruby, Berlin says

Before installing is amplifier i got 17 stations after installing this amplifier i got 11 stations can anyone explain this to me

Z. Emily, Saskatchewan

As a previous reviewer stated, it does not work with cable. Not only did it not boost signal, but it completely blocked the cable signal. Expected better from a name brand like channel master.

H. Guest, Luton says

Product doesn t work. No signal improvement. Two connectors were labeled pwr in. Third connector was not labeled. Documentation is general for a group of amplifiers. No labeling of the connectors for any products within the group. . The unit ships with an announcement to not call the retailer with a problem, contact channel master. Ok. No phone numbers or email addresses provided. Found the web site. No phone numbers or email addresses provided. Only a way to tell them about a problem, provide them with your email address. Did it. It s now 2 days and not even a automated acknowledgement.

. Kimberly, Manchester

After adding a second tv to my antenna, several channels dropped out completely and a few others had poor reception. . Added the cm3414 right at 30' from the antenna and added a third and fourth tv to the system. Not only are all channels clear but found an additional three channels i did not know even existed. . Great amplifier for the money. . Edited: i was quite happy with the results from this amplifier as noted above. But now after only five days use, the cm3414 has died. Got up this morning and channel count went from 64 down to 18. Removed the amplifier from the system and i'm back to 30+ channels. . Contacted online store and its now on its way back. It will be replaced by a professional grade motorola amplifier also purchased from online store.

Y. Paula, Missouri says

I had high hopes of this exceeding a 17-year-old radio shack model that is starting to wear out. Surprisingly this is not quite as good, though has more ports on it so i'm keeping it. Not a bad product at all; merely an adequate one. Super well built - very heavy duty. Otherwise eh.
