Elite Screens Spectrum 100 Inch Diag (electric100h) 2078

Review for spectrum diag electric motorized

Price was $209.21. I did a lot of shopping around trying to find the perfect screen for our new projection system. We installed this in our living room, installation was a breeze. Just make sure you know where your ceiling joists are and have a spare helper, this is absolutely a 2 person job to install. Screen is perfectly flat, there are no waves or wrinkles whatsoever. The tab tension system does it's job very well! we paired this with an epson 3700 and a hdmi output switch, so we can send our signal to the projector or the tv that is mounted on the wall. We use the projector for watching movies, sports, and playing video games, and the tv for other more routine watching. The box that this thing ships in is huge, as you can imagine. The motor that drops and raises the screen is fast, it takes about 10-15 seconds for the screen to deploy or retract. All in all, i am extremely satisfied with the purchase!

Foreword

Installation was easy and fast with just two brackets. Our ceiling is slanted and the design of this allows for it to freely hang from whatever angle you placed it on. . This is the lowest price screen i could find at 100 inches diagonal. I was thrilled that it is powered by electricity to move the screen up and down. There is a hanging white cord that hands just to the left of the screen. There is a toggle switch on it to move it up and down. We elected to hire an electrician who ran electricity in the attic down to the unit and then ran wire to the wall where he installed a wall switch to activate it. This was important for us because the screen hangs in front of built-in bookcases and a smaller tv behind, which we are keeping there for use during exercising and as one son prefers the smaller sized tv for video gaming. . We are happy with the thick fabric screen which does not blow, drift, or wiggle during use. We needed a minimum 12 inch drop which this screen provides. . Our screen was perfect and not damaged in shipment, not flawed, not wrinkled or anything problematic like that. . Very happy with the low price and thick screen and powered movement so we rate this 5 stars i love it. Elite Screens Spectrum, 100-inch Diag 16:9, Electric Motorized 4k/8k Ready Drop Down Projector Screen, Electric100h Review (electric100h)

The screen is great! we have used it for a little over a year now with no issues. There were no issues with wrinkles or defects. The delivery was on time and was rather entertaining as the box is rather long. The remote up and down is great - we don't use it frequently but when we do it is great to press one button and be done with it. Similarly when we lower it it goes right back to where it needs to without having to mess with it further. It feels sturdy and of good material. You can adjust the tension cords on the side with an allen wrench to get it just right. We did that after a few weeks of letting it set in and loosen up. -H. Harrison

PROS
  • So far, i'm very happy with this screen. I was torn between this version and the one that had tension wires due to some reviews reporting excessive curling on the edges. While my screen had some curling at first, after leaving it down for a few hours, it seemed to flatten out nicely. Some of the reviews also mentioned "memory lines, " and the screen actually came with a sheet discussing them and that they fade after leaving the screen down for a while to stretch out, but when i lowered mine the first time i didn't notice this at all on mine. . The motor is very quiet (although could be slightly faster), the construction seems to be solid, and the 12v trigger input works perfectly with my projector. I'm very happy with the professional look and feel this product brought to my conference room projector installation. . One review mentioned the fact that the rj45 port for the wall remote or 12v trigger input was on the bottom rather than the top. This is true, and i agree with that reviewer: it would've been nice had that been on the top side with the power. It's not a big deal, but to me it would've made more sense on top since you're likely going to run both power and trigger in the same direction (in my case, up). I don't feel strongly enough about it to knock a star off of my review, though. . I did put a large label across the screen indicating that it was a motorized screen that automatically lowers and raises with the projector power on/off. This is in a shared conference room, and it would only be a matter of time until someone tried to yank the screen down manually. Not sure if this would hurt it or not, but better safe with the warning label. . Overall, i think this is a great screen for the money and would definitely buy it again.
  • I got this screen a couple of weeks ago to replace a newly purchased elite screens spectrum screen which was 110" diagonal (i miscalculated projector throw distance with an online calculator :) . I have been using this one almost daily since i received it and so far here are my observations:. . - easy to install if you're handy, make sure you level it properly and it is a two person job but nothing too difficult; it comes with hardware to install it on several types of surfaces. . - the casing is a bit too reflective for my taste - it picks up a bit of glare (just a thin line because it is rounded) from the screen but that does not affect viewing experience and the only reason i think i notice it is because the spectrum i'd gotten before that one was matte black, octagonish and completely disappeared into my black ceiling once the lights were off; it may become noticeable if the screen is lowered but its edge remains close to the housing but i lower mine almost all the way. . - the previous bullet brings me to something i wish it had or i knew how to do - set the limit for how low the motor should take the screen down to and then stop. I have little kids and they were the main reason i did not go with a fixed screen that they may mistake for a drawing board, so right now i turn my projector on and then start the motor and wait until the screen aligns with the picture to hit the stop button but it would be great to just be able to set the proper height once and for all. Again this screen may be able to do it but i could not find any manual that would state that, so i am taking half of a star off for that. The motor is not too loud and relatively fast. . - another half of a star off is for the fact that this screen is not on the list of known devices in my harmony 650's device list. I am playing with adding other model numbers but so far no luck and i may just have to go through programming the actions into the remote myself. Now it sounds like a very first world problem but in a room with many devices and even light switches on that one remote it helps to keep the theater space free from clutter. . - 120" is a great size screen to watch movies anywhere from about 10' to my prime personal spot about 15' away; the range may be wider but we have not ventured past those limits due to absense of need. . - it is in my basement where there is virtually no outside light, so i can't really comment on its reflecting abilities, however i am sure that a lot of it depends on your projector and the ambient light and in my conditions the picture is nice and bright. . - i have read some reviews before purchasing the screen that it may come with wrinkes or wavy or deteriorated fast, however after a couple of weeks of almost daily use (including rolling it up and down) the screen is still in great shape. I was worried that it not being a tension screen (which are far more expensive) it would sway every time someone opens the basement door or the hvac turns on or off but this fear was proven wrong. . - i do not have a 4k projector and while this screen is advertised as 4k capable, i have not tested it. Blu ray movies are the majority of what we have watched so far and they look fantastic. . Overall i have been enjoying watching movies on this screen tremendously and if this screen fits your room size, projector distance and budget - by all means get it, make it a home theater setup and you will not want to go back to your tiny 60" televisions.
CONS
  • Updated 5/1/15. The worst customer service experience i have ever encounter, 4 times this product was returned with missing parts, one of the previews screens was also returned and i recognized it. When i called the supervisor said that she could give me 24 cents discount for the next purchase lol thats what she said. I just feel like i have rip-off. It makes some noise and had a tini little scratch right side of the s. 3. 26. 15 i had to return this as the motor stop working and is curling big time. 3. 31. 15 i. Got my replacement and its even worst. Curling and it has a whole palm and shoe print in the back of it. Very disapointed
  • Simply, this screen is acceptable for the price. Mine has does have waves that only i seem to notice, versus my wife and guests. They are most prominent during pans and on rolling text. I'm not a purist but i believe this screen is a good jumping off point for home theaters and would probably like to upgrade sooner than later.
  • I actually loved the screen until today. I watched a movie and hit the button to retract the screen and nothing happened except for a clicking sound. The screen would not go up or down! i bought the elite screen may 5th, 2015 and have had no issues with it until now. I put in a request on elite screen's website so we shall see what happens. At least it is stuck in the down position. The screen itself is great. Projection shows up crisp, clear and in vibrant color.

spectrum diag electric motorized Elite Screens Spectrum, 100-inch Diag 16:9, Electric Motorized 4K/8K Ready Drop Down Projector Screen, ELECTRIC100H (Switch to Mobile/Desktop Version)

As countless other reviewers have noted, this is a great screen, and a fantastic value for money. While no one is arguing that it is better than a da-lite or a stewart, it is at least 90% as good for 20% of the cost. That trade off, for me at least, makes this screen a no-brainer. . The screen goes up and down very smoothly, and works wonderfully with my harmony remote. Over the past year, it has been cycled probably 500 times and still performs as it did on day one. . The one caveat i have is that there is a small amount of inward curl forming on the edges of the screen. While the screen is down, the left and right sides of the screen curl inwards towards the center. While not a huge amount (the edges curl up about 2 inches) it is enough to notice on slow camera pans across the screen. If you imagine a horizon being shown on the screen. The last couple of inches on the right and left "rise" upwards because of the curl. . This is a known issue with elite screens, and is even acknowledged on their website. You really can't do anything about it, short of going with a tensioned screened. Though it annoys me slightly, most casual users won't notice unless you point it out. . Aside from that one quibble, the spectrum screen from elite is a fantastic product.

My projector is about 12. 5ft away in the included pics. -mix of chromcast and pc with hdmi output. -fast shipping. Dude called me, we arranged delivery and he put it in my living room when he showed up. -i had to setup a mount for it which took time but setup of the unit was pretty much plug and play. -remote is line of sight but reaches across the living room. -screen takes a bit to lower but that's fine. The popcorn took longer to get ready then the screen so it was a non-issue. Motor is very quiet. -yes it is curled on the side but only on the black part and not much. Does not affect the white screen area. -white portion (the screen itself) is free of defects and not warped or anything. I could see the benefit of a tensioned screen in a humid environment. -good light capture. Don't have any bleed/reflection anywhere else on the screen, walls, or room. Viewing angles are amazing. If you see the screen from where you are sitting you are good to go. -screen material is very fine. Using a 1080p projector and while the pixels are clearly visible, the grain of the material is not visible unless under direct light in a well lit room and unless you are about 5m away. In a dark room you will only be limited by what your projector can output. I see this working great with an eventual 4k when they become affordable in a few years. . Now that i am done with the formalities. . Holy crap. Currently using a projector that support rec 709 and the colors pop unlike anything i've ever seen in person. I was at the store the other day looking at 4k tv's and the apparent brightness of my 2k lumens projector + this screen puts them to shame. From my perch about 5 ft away 4k youtube source and netflix superhd material is out of this world. I swear i watched bugs eating leaves and gopro videos skydiving for like two hours yesterday and was enthralled the entire time. . Not sure what else to say is that i am glad that i got the 110' and wish my place was big enough for more. The screen is absolutely massive and it makes even the most mundane 4k youtube videos and netflix superhd (through pc) material blow your mind. . I never leave reviews but was absolutely thrilled with the purchase and wanted to share. Need to consider my real estate plans moving forward. :d"

(0) Question: Can the stop point be adjusted? i can't find any reference to how in the user guide sheet.

(1) Question: How do i replace the white material? it came all wrinkled and the wrinkles don't go away and it looks bad on 1080p content.

(2) Question: How much backlight does it block out? 100% or. ? i'm asking for the purpose of hanging it in front of windows.

This is a great product. I easily installed it myself and love it. I have a theater at home! it's great. Only issue is the smell it emits but i think it will leave after a few days. There is some wavy lines in screen but i left it down and hope it goes away. It's really not that bad though so it doesn't bother me. . Highly recommend.

Homegear 110 Hd Motorized 16:9 Projector Screen W/ Remote Control (Office Products) FAQ.

Really love this screen! super easy setup and the movies look fantastic on it. However, be warned - the package it arrives in is huge. It doesn't seem to need to be said given the measurements of the screen, but even knowing it was going to be big, it was still a surprise. If you're planning to transport it, make sure you have a vehicle that can accommodate it. -Notice from . Teresa, Connecticut

For the price, this screen almost seems to good to be true. Unfortunately, that much seems hit or miss. My screen in particular came with some pretty nasty fold marks and after a few days of hanging in hopes that those might stretch out, waves along the edges began appearing, although not as drastically as some of the other pictures linked from past reviewers. However, it's pretty noticeable with nothing projecting on it. That said, i own an epson 2030 which is rather bright and will hide most of the lines and screen issues unless a dark scene of a movie comes along. For the price though, the motor is quiet, the texture of the screen itself seems well made, and the image looks really nice so no real complaints other than the fold lines and waves that don't really want to go away.

- B. JacksonNice looking screen but with a couple of oddities: the reviews are correct: there are a few wrinkles here and there, but you can manage them. My case was slightly dented also, but didn't seem to affect it's running except for the possibility that something was jarred loose inside. After about a week, the screen gives out a stripping sound when in motion, and the fabric seem to jarringly drop an inch or so. Then it continues to roll up or down okay. I have reported the issue to online store. We'll see if the problem continues. It is a steal at $99, but i'd like it to not strip itself out and and stop working somewhere down the line. Forewarned is forearmed!

1 year update:. I dropped my review from 5 stars to 4 stars. I wanted to give it 3, but as far as i know it is still the cheapest and only affordable motorized screen on the market, and after all this time waves are minimal. My issue is with the build quality as follows. . I have retracted this screen maybe 10 times since i purchased it a year ago. Today, while closing, a loose wire connecting the motors (inside the housing) got all tangled up with the screen, choking up the mechanism and preventing it from functioning. The wire has now jammed and fallen out in the way of the screen, and is impossible to tuck back in without disassembling the housing and risking more damage. -. . Original review:. Great, cheap alternative to some of the other screens out there. Slight waves in the screen, but it's only noticeable on a blank white picture. The included wall-mount control buttons are a nice touch in case you ever lose the remote. . The housing is 10 feet long, so make sure your wall is wide enough to fit the entire thing. I didn't expect this and had windows in the way, so i ended up having to suspend it from the ceiling, dropping it a couple feet using 2' pipes and flanges from home depot. I'd definitely recommend this option if you have tall ceilings and don't want to crane your neck while viewing.

QualGear PRB-717-WHT Universal Ceiling Mount Projector Accessory

This is a great ceiling mount for the epson homecinema 3700 projector i just bought. The instructions were very clear, and i loved how the small parts are all organized in labeled compartments within a small plastic bag. I wish ikea would make it so clear which nuts and screws are which.

Cold-rolled steel material; durable construction universal design fits most projector brands; weight capacity: 30 lbs. ; maximum distance of mounting holes on projector: 15. 63" low profile flush mount; holds projector at 5. 31" from the ceiling multiple adjustments. Swivel: 60 degrees. Roll: +/-20 degrees. Pitch: +/-30 degrees. Shift: 2. 75" snap-on / snap-off design for quick installation / release

Qualgear Prb-717-wht Universal Ceiling Mount Projector Accessory (prb 717 wht) FAQ.

Does exactly what it needs to do, and includes all the hardware needed to effectively get the job done. Some of the reviewers said it didn't work with the epson 5030ub or they weren't sure. For those wondering, it works fine, you just need to add the extensions and use both the short and tall spacers. . Pros:. Very adjustable. I was easily able to aim my epson 5030ub properly and then mount my 120" screen. . Cons:. I had to rotate the ceiling part of the mount 90 degrees, as the joist i attached it to ran perpendicular to the wall the screen is on. They should re-engineer the ceiling part of the mount to allow for installation either parallel or perpendicular to your projection surface. -Notice from E. Anonymous, Richmond upon Thames

Worked great for my optima. Should fit any projector. Had to make a few adjustments for my particular projector but they were minor. Comes with a lot of extra parts to fit multiple projectors. My only complaint is that some of the bolts were to long for my particular projector and i had to go to the hardware store to get shorter ones 9not very exspensive. Otherwise once everything is adjusted to your screen. You just tighten them up and it is very sturdy. My ceiling was already open so i put in the supports when tested to get the right distance from the screen before i put up the drywall. But honestly my ceiling mount withe the projector was so light that most fasteners would have no problem supporting the weight. Misplaced the first one i bought and could not find it. So i had to buy it again but that was my fault although it did go up in price in a short period of time. About 10 dollars. Till it worked out great

- G. BroylesVery high quality product at a great price. If you have a above average mechanical skills, this should work out for you. I thought i had fair mechanical skills to put nuts and bolts together but it still took me a lot of time to setup my projector (though in the end it was all worth it). The instructions and the hardware accessories are all well laid out though i would suggest to read the whole instruction book fully before starting anything. Also, it is recommended that you have 2 people doing this though i did it on my own with a little help from my son. My projector is holding on well and i have already checked it a couple of time this week to make sure it is mounted correctly. Definitely recommended!

Well designed and well engineered piece of hardware. Piecing it together could be challenging to those less mechanically minded though. I assembled and disassembled it only a couple of times but once together and attached to my projector it was very sturdy and held the projector very securely. On larger projectors (i have the epson 5030) it is tricky assembling the connecting spars correctly, but anyone that had an erector set as a child shouldn't find the task too challenging. Once attached to the ceiling and fully tightened down it wont move. The maximum weight it supports, as specified by the manufacturer, is 30lb. I would think even around 100lb wouldn't be dificult for this to handle! . I can't think of any way it could be made better.

The F.A.Q. for elite screens spectrum, 100-inch diag 16:9, electric motorized 4k/8k ready drop down projector screen, electric100h

The price and delivery service for this screen was great, and it was easy to install and operated as expected immediately. There were some challenges, however. Adjustment of the black drop length was supposed to require a call to support, but i could never get anyone to help me with this. I did find instructions on the faq page of their site and it all worked out. I had also ordered a rf controller that would accept the trigger input from my projector to lower and raise the screen automatically, but the first unit did not work. It did control the screen but it would not respond to the 12 volt trigger out signal, and the included cable did not fit my projector's port. Support arranged for me to receive a second device, with included a cable with the required 1/8" pin. It worked but the cable did not recognize the input on the proper side of the pin and required a little soldering to reverse the wires at the projector end. Now all is functional. The screen is not totally flat and the bumps tend to show up when there is ambient light in the room. We are enjoying the screen and consider it to be a fine upgrade from our old manual floor unit. I would recommend considering the vmax line with the fiberglass backing, which i would hope would be flatter.

A number of questions have been asked here.

Just awesome. I can't describe this any better than that. . If you're planning a home theater room with a projector, the odds are you're aiming to impress. Who wants to walk over and pull the screen down like middle school geography class? relax, press the button, and down it goes. It adds a touch of class to your theater setup. . Installation couldn't be simpler, either. Measure for the holes, install anchors in the wall (if you're not hitting studs) and the thing literally hangs using a keyhole. I had it out of the box, on my wall, and plugged in within 30 minutes. . One thing to keep in mind: since this does need to be plugged in, be mindful of where your outlets are compared to where you're installing the screen. You will likely either need an extension cord or a ceiling outlet, because the cord this comes with probably won't be long enough to reach down to any standard outlet. I didn't take a star off of my rating for this, though, because most likely you're going to want a ceiling outlet anyway to make it look clean.

I have the motorized 100" and it's been great. I felt the need to upgrade size and i can just barely fit but because of my good experience i felt good ordering the 125" sound transparent screen. (this is so i can put my speakers behind the screen so they do not block the view). I can't wait for my size upgrade! 100" is already really nice but 125" should be spectacular. It's the absolute biggest i can fit in my theater area. I recommend always getting the largest you can fit.

This review is for elite starling2 16:9 120 inch diagonal screen, white color finish. The screen material is very good, came with excellent packaging. Online store delivered few days earlier than the original promised date which is good. White color blends with my interiors, good i didn't select black color. Setting up and installing it flush-mount to the ceiling was a big challenge due to its weight. The user manual mentioned it can also be installed to the dry-wall ceiling but this didn't work due to its enormous weight. So i had to first install a 2x6 wooden frame to the ceiling on to the ceiling studs and then install the screen to the wooden-frame. I used a white duct-tape to cover the wooden frame which gave an excellent finish better than painting it. I had to make several visits to homedepot. I wish this screen had sliding brackets like in saker series which could be installed directly to the ceiling studs making the install/mount much easier. It's been around a month since i purchased this screen. The screen so far has been nice and of good quality. The tubular motor is very fast compared to synchronous motor. It comes with both rf and ir remotes which look much nice/modern compared to the remotes offered with other elite screen models including saker series. The extra 14 inches screen drop was useful to me to bring the screen view to eye level. The black bar at the bottom of the screen completely covered/hidden when retracted. I could setup/adjust the drop height to stop exactly above my center channel speaker. I also setup the 5-12v trigger to my panasonic projector so that the screen drops down automatically when i switch on the projector and retracts back when the projector is switched off. Given that this is fiber-glass backed, i expected this to be fully flat but there are some waves in the middle of the screen which are visible during wide panning. Overall i'm satisfied with the product and recommend it.

100" electronic drop, elite screens spectrum. I was surprised with the quality of this screen. Having done lots of research it seems there are some lemons out there (damaged casing, wrinkled screens, etc) but i've had no issues. . Pros; . - affordable. - well built. - almost wrinkle free, not noticeable with regular-throw projector (but see cons. ). . Cons; . - short power cord. - if you have a short throw projector, do not get this screen. The instruction manual says as much (short throws exaggerate the wrinkles). This is not indicated on all the elite screen models so be warned. Short throw projectors need a fixed screen or tension one. . Overall, i am pleased with this screen and would buy again if needed

U. Guest, Lancashire says

I was extremely intimidated upon receiving the box for this projection screen. I had no idea how i was going to manage to hang it, and it sat in the box for months. Finally, i opened it and found that they actually made it incredibly easy to suspend this from beams. The support brackets can easily slide to the side so you don't have to get your anchor placement perfect, i got some chain from home depot. Bam. Super quick and easy, you just need a couple ladders and another able body to help just because of the size. As for the picture quality, it's fantastic and considering it's motorized as well i think it's an incredible value.

C. Nees, Cheshire

I usually go for a fixed frame screen, have previously owned carada and seymour. But we moved and are renting, so i didn t want to pay a lot and don t have the ability to put up a fixed frame in the new place. . Alr is great! i have never seen one before and it wasn t something i had heard of previously. In a room with 8 (! ) small windows lining the walls during a sunny day, it was a pretty decent picture - this is with white walls and white/gray tile floors. Night scenes get a little dark. Check out the picture included, each side has 4 windows. Just a test picture before mounting projector, epson 5040ube. I couldn t be happier with the screen material. I have heard some stories of their build quality, but nothing bad on this one. . There was a smell for a week or so. Initially when i dropped the screen it came down horribly crooked and it took about an hour for it to settle, i think the roll inside was jostled during shipping. But now works fine. A little more detail on how tight or loose the tabs should be would have helped but i fiddled and figured it out. Install was fairly easy (as easy as lifting the giant screen over your head while trying to snap it into the mount can be). Again maybe some tips on distance between mounts could have helped. . Maybe i m missing something but the little flimsy door that covers up the buttons and ir plug cannot be closed if you actually plug in the infrared receiver. . At this price point i probably could have gotten a very nice fixed frame as well, in fact i had my eye on one, but alas it would not work in my space.

Q. Pearce, Halton says

One of the aluminum brackets that came with this recent purchase has a misaligned bolt pilot hole when trying to attach the smaller steel mount bracket (see pic and bracket on the right with no screw). Looks like this was drilled by hand vs. Milled, as it is chewed up somewhat. I doubt this was ever inspected for quality. I can't use it for my mounting situation. . As for the screen itself, it seems nice enough (i also own the vmax92uwh2). The housing is much more attractive and the motor speed is much faster in this unit compared to the vmax92uwh2. . Giving the company a chance to resolve this bracket issue before i return it. I'll update the review after that experience. . *update. The company resolved this for me, although the service channel to get the replacement seemed a bit complicated. I had to complete a form that would not get accepted online. Eventually worked it out and new parts were sent out at no cost to me. For that reason, moving the rating from 2 to 4 stars.

X. Angelica, North Lincolnshire

Screen was great, install was easy. We hung it off the wall because i have a pitched internal ceiling. Some folks talked about the ripples or the smell in reviews when i was looking for various screens and i have to say that i'm quite happy with it. It didn't have any ripples and while it did have the "factory new" smell for a few days, i just left it extended to air out. After 3 days it was fine. The projector i tested with was an old projector that used to be in a school and is more for powerpoints. I just ordered a new benq 2050 and it should be in any day! cant wait!

. Donna, Indiana says

Bought this for my new house, to go with my epson 4000 projector. It was exactly what i was looking for! . . Pros:. Easy to set up. We even cut out part of our ceiling and made it into a recessed projector screen with no issues. . Ambient light rejection works well. It does not reject light coming from directly on top of it, nor extremely bright light from any direction. With that said, i have 5 large windows in my home. With curtain sheers over them and the interior lights off, i can watch shows on the screen during the daylight with no loss in visibility. . It looks amazing at night with the lights off. . You can adjust the height, instead of using the full dimensions of the screen. I bring it down about 60" for tv shows and the full 135" for movies. That keeps it out of the way for normal home use. . Cons:. . Heavy. It may be easy to install, but get a strong person to help you set it up. . It doesn't block ambient light from above, or in very well lit rooms. Got all the windows open at noon and you keep the lights on? you'll get a washed out picture. . Can come out of the box wrinkled. Mine straightened out after 24 hours, but for some people it doesn't and they have to send it back. . Ir remote is garbage. Use the rfc one instead. . Overall i recommend this product. It has made my living room a great place to hang out for my family and friends.

N. Russell, Rheinland-Pfalz

For the money, this screen has done well. I do not have a dedicated home theater room, so this is installed in our family room on the same wall as our 50" plasma. The room has a lot of ambient light and despite having a very good projector (epson 3500) it does require shades to be drawn during the middle of the day. Of course this isn't an ambient light rejecting screen, but i didn't see the value in that when testing the samples ordered from elite. . I chose this screen model over the other elites because of how clean and thin the case is. That comes at a loss of integrated remote and trigger capabilities however. The screen does have the advantage of the mounting brackets that can slide along the case anywhere needed to hit studs or trusses in the ceiling (i needed that due to some dropped beams on the ceiling i hung this from). . The power cord has a 3-way toggle switch on it that throws ac power to 2 different legs of the motor (one for up and one for down). I plan on hard wiring a switch in the wall and cutting the cord so its not handing down the wall now. The motor has stops built in so you can leave the switch in the up or down pole position and it will stop at its limits. . The screen does allow you to adjust the screen drop on it. It has 12" of black screen at the top which worked well for getting the screen down low in our room (based on mounting it on a 8' high ceiling). I wanted it to be right above a sonos soundbar we have mounted on the wall below the plasma. The 12" of drop was too much so i contacted elite on how to adjust (you must do this for them to send instructions and not to void the warranty). Here is where i ran into the only problem with this product. . On the case (left side when looking at the screen), there are two allen head screws on the motor assembly that you can adjust the upper and lower stops on the screen. *remember, don't do anything until you contact elite on how to do this* the lower stop limiter is supposed to be under a sticker on the case that says something like 'void if removed'. The instructions talk about this and so did the csr from elite. When i removed that sticker there was no hole! ? ! ? ! i chatted back to tech support on their webpage the guy was somewhat dismissive and suggested i could reach it from the screen opening. I had to send him pictures showing how that was not possible. His suggestion was 'you can drill a hole at your own risk'. After suggesting that was not a solution and absurd for him to state that he said he could transfer my info to their warranty department so they can figure out a solution. . Not wanting to return this to online store to only get another and find the same manufacturing defect on the case, nor wanting to deal with elite's warranty department (which i heard stories of being extremely long winded) i opted to whip out the drip and carefully measure/eyeball/etc. To put a new hole in the case where i thought it would give me access. Luckily the hole was pretty close, enough that i could get the allen tool in and do the adjustments. . The screen has held its adjustment and comes down in the same spot each time which is good. At night viewing, with the overhead can lights (in line of the projection image) turned off, the screen image is phenominal. The epson 3500 and this material work well once some calibration is done. 3d viewing is pretty phenominal, however i do not use 3d that much to eye discomfort it causes. I did try avatar in 3d and my wife and i said it felt as good, maybe better, than what we saw in the theater back in 2009 on its release. . The screen is surprisingly quick both raising and lowering and not noisy by any means. Elite sells an accessory box/kit to plug into the power cable/connector that gives you a remote control and 'remote trigger' capabilities for your projector to raise/lower it. That is a spendy item and i can't justify it for a $200 screen so a wall mounted switch assembly seems more logical. . There is just a 'slight' cupping on the left and right sides of the image midway down. The screen is just ever so slightly bending in towards the viewer. It is so minimal however that i don't really notice it with any test images on the screen (geometry). I have no defects in the screen and there were no creases/etc. That others mentioned having the first time they dropped it. . There was a pretty 'chemically' smell coming from the screen. I actually hung it in my garage for a few days to try and air/heat it out. It was still there when installing in the living room, but that is decreasing each time we use it. Definitely not overbearing like it was new.

This review is for elite screens starling tab-tension 2, 135" 16:9 (6" drop) screen. . Delivery/packaging: the screen arrived on time, without any damage/dents. Packaging is good. Installation: manual is pretty straightforward and easy to understand. All parts came in separate plastic bags with labels on them. Installation took about 45 minutes. I wish they supply 8 screws of each type per bracket, not 4. And 3 mounting brackets, instead of 2. The screen is heavy, so you definitely will need assistance to lift it. My wife was barely able to help me to lift it in place. Paired an rf remote with the screen according to instructions. Works fine. . The screen is flat. No wrinkles at all. The motor operates smoothly and the noise level is acceptable. Image quality is awesome. I have no idea how much the screen contributes to overall image quality, but i am pretty happy with the screen - it's much better than projecting on a wall. It has noticeable 'chemical' odor (but not too bad). I hope it will disappear in a couple of days.

Got this in on the scheduled day. The package was sturdy. The installation was a breeze. The connectors that come along can be installed first and the projector screen snaps in, need two people to hold to hang. My wife and i handled it ourselves. The motor is quite, drops and folds in about 30 seconds. The tubing is very sturdy. The screen has about 12 inches drop and 2 inches border on side. The screen does have a smell of plastic but it's decreasing, it's been less than 24 hours that the screen was up. The electric inbuilt switch hangs out on the left, i need to hide it through the wall. . I had specific requirements for an 120" screen with casing not being more than 115" in length. Of all the screens that i saw, all of them had over 115" in length for the outer cae. Only this fit in for my needs. . The only gripe i have is that i don't know if there is a way to control the 12" drop, would love to reduce it to 8". The other elite screens seem to have have this feature but i couldn't figure out for this series. Minor inconvenience but not a big deal to me. Overall though, the huge black drop does have an immersing feel and a certain wow factor. . The screen has a solid feel, definitely a step up over manual screen. No visible waves. Few more dollars than other screens but money well spent.

For a tab tensioned screen, this seemed like an excellent price. Being my first screen/projector setup, i didn't want to go too crazy with overbuying. For the most part, i don't retract the screen but i like the fact it's motorized and has a trigger port so i can connect to my projector (albeit with some wiring involved). It includes a handheld and wall remote that work well but after doing a little research, i wish it came with the remote that could be connected to the trigger port (of course, sold separately). You have to schedule delivery because of the size of the package but better than the delivery guy just dropping on the front steps. Unfortunately, i wasn't home (had someone wait for it for me) when it was delivered so i didn't have a chance to inspect the product. After opening, i noticed that one of the mounting tabs was bent. I didn't see any damage to the box but it was as if it was stored on one of its ends since the styrofoam that was protecting the ends was compacted. Not a big deal for me since this wasn't the mounting option i was using anyway but it was easy to straighten in case it becomes something i need in the future. . The screen has a chemical like smell for a few days/weeks. Not unbearable but distinct. . Per instructions, it states that the tensioning doesn't need to be adjusted out of the box but i had to because it was very loose. . All in all, great screen for the price! very happy with my purchase. Picture looks great but since this is my first projector screen, i have nothing really to compare to.

This screen that i purchased has turned my man-cave into a private little movie theater. If you have the right movie projector and sound system, trust me , when you view your blu-ray movies on this screen, the resolution will amaze you. With the items i have purchased from adc, i no longer even need to go to the actual movie theater. This screen is very large, takes up my entire wall. It comes with two remote controls, one hand -held, and one that you can hard wire into the wall. I hooked both of them up. Word of caution. Do not try to install this screen by yourself. You are going to have to measure your wall and center the screen precisely. The screen is not light-it's got some weight. You will need anchors for your ceiling. I recommend you get a professional to install it. Trust me folks, you are going to love this movie screen. Once you have it hooked up, wait until night time, pull your shades, turn on the movie, set back and enjoy! highly recommended !

Overall good quality but had kind of a big problem. After i hooked it up when i would raise the screen it would go past the upper limit and was forcing the motor to enter a locked rotor condition, which is very bad for the motor and projector screen. I contacted elite screens and they told me they would email directions on how to adjust the upper limit. They never did. I had to figure it out on my own. The part that i don't get is that by adjusting the limits yourself it voids the warranty. So overall not impressed with the customer service but the screen does work well now, after i adjusted it. Just be sure to check that the motor stops after raising the screen. . Edit: i did get an email the next day explaining the limit procedure.

I purchased this screen because it was motorized, had a 12" black dropdown and could be mounted either on the ceiling or on the wall. The screen came very well packaged, and the packaging was easy to open and without any mess. All required installation hardware was included. I mounted the screen on the ceiling with the included hardware (did not need anything else). It did take two of us to actually hook the screen into the mounting hardware, not because of weight, but because of size. The screen operates well, unrolls very nicely, no waves or creases. Initially when the screen was down, it had a "chemical" smell. I left the screen down for a couple of days, and the smell went away. The only thing i do not understand is that the control switch, which i mounted on the wall, operates backwards, that is to say that logically if i rock the switch upward i would expect the screen to roll up into its case, but instead the screen comes down. Similarly, when the switch is rocked down the screen goes up. No big deal, i will get used to it. I am very pleased with the purchase, seems to be a good quality product.

I have the following screen: elite screens starling tab-tension 2, 120" 16:9, 14" drop, tensioned electric motorized projector screen, stt120xwh2-e14. . The screen came with 14 inches of extra black space at the top of the screen. I was not sure how to adjust it at first. I did not find any instructions. I can only assume that people always screw that up, so that is why they did not include instructions. Ok, on the left side of the screen's housing there are two small flat-head screwdriver adjustment terminals. The yellow one adjusts the stop-point for the top of the screen (how much it rolls up into the housing), and the other one adjusts the stop-point for the bottom of the screen. Either way, both terminals are labeled with a plus (+) or minus (-). Plus ascends (raises up), while minus descends (lowers down). . Turning the non-yellow terminal towards the positive raises the screen higher and hides the extra black border you don't need at the top. Plus raises, minus lowers. This is a terrific screen. A white housing looks better in a home that has a white ceiling and white borders. I called one of the dealers for instructions. Elite said you must call them before you proceed.

Nice screen. Its close if not better than the black diamond. I would say much better. The bd gives me fatigue after a while with the sparkling and hot spotting. This screen does the same job but with much less sparkling. Still has a slight hot spot but no bother unless its a solid white back ground you never notice it. I had to get rid of the bd just too much roughness to the picture. I never feel there is a roughness to the picture. After watching the bd for a while then watching my lcd it would just look so smooth with the bd looking way rough like a rough surface to the picture. This is very convenient for a roll down so when i just want to catch the news for a few minutes i have the flat screen mounted behind it. It does have some slight creases in the material from being rolled up a i guess but after a while they get un noticeable. Great screen! i have white walls and ceiling and use this in a living room/ kitchen area. Epson 5030ub projector.

V. Isabel, Isle of Wight

First off, the screen arrived well packed and undamaged. A big relief for a 65lb box that is like 10 feet long. Second, installation is a delight in the world of installing things. It involves securing two brackets (mine is a ceiling mount) and sliding the screen onto them. Proper placement in confirmed with a satisfying click into a locked position. Then the screen can be moved back and forth on the brackets for final placement adjustments. . As for the screen, it comes with two remotes - one of which works well (the rf one) and one of which is garbage (the ir one needed to be within 5 feet to work). The speed of lowering and raising is pretty quick with the new tubular motor in this version of the starling series. The screen quality is very good with no waves at all near the tension edges. The motor is anything but silent - but not overly loud. . Aesthetically i love the white housing and unobtrusive design. It blends perfectly with my white molding and baseboards, white in-ceiling speaker trims, white security cameras etc. For this price point, i couldn't be happier. I don't feel disappointed in the least that i didn't drop two or three times this much on a high end screen. I don't know what would make me any happier.

O. Jennifer, Haringey says

For the size of the screen, this seems to have been a good buy. Packaging was adequate and the screen was delivered without issue. Out of the box, it worked as promised. The ir remote works fine, though i haven't tried getting it to sync with my projector yet. It does curl at the edges. If you are a stickler for a flat screen i'd recommend spending a bunch more money and buy one with tension cords or get a non-retractable screen with a frame. My screen has no wrinkles or folds or waves. I'm not sure what your odds of receiving a problematic screen as seen in other reviews, but my screen is flat and smooth. I took a star off, as i agree with other reviews that this should have a center bracket. I had to hang mine from the vaulted ceiling in our great room, so it's just on two hooks, and this is a heavy long screen for two hangers.

J. Diana, Southampton

This is my first in home theater setup. I've done a lot of research and sat through a few demos with some reputable companies & i decided to go cheap because my budget changed during the holidays. The tension technology almost ensures zero wrinkles & waves. The motor is super quiet. I have this paired with a epson 2045 & i must say that my picture quality is better than the $3000 setup they had in the bestbuy demo room.

. Lynette, Montana says

I installed this as a gift for my dad in his basement to set up a home theater (along with speakers, projector, receiver, bluray, appletv, etc). . Other than the projector, this really is the centerpiece of the system. I went with the 84" model because of vertical beams on the walls and a low ceiling that would have obstructed the use of anything larger. Even the 84" was a stretch, i had to bore out a portion of one of the side beams to fit the casing of the projector into it, by about 3/4". It is a bit wider than the specs state, so be prepared to modify the casing/brackets to suit your needs, if necessary. . The open/close motion is smooth and fluid, though a bit loud if you don't have the sound/music going already. The included remote is handy. Open/close speed is rather slow, for my expectations. I have a custom installed draper in ceiling screen for my own home theater that seems about 4x faster. . The wall switch is not a worthwhile addition. The cord is only about 4' and far too short to be of any use. Further, it is a surface mount switch and is all black. It does not look nice or blend well with most decor. I'd much rather see a switch that could fit into a standard 1 gang wall box or low voltage bracket. It should be made to work over a rj11 phone cord or 2wire speaker cable, which anyone installing one of these systems should already have an abundance of. . There is no adjustable open/close levels or limit switches you can adjust, it is either fully opened or fully closed, unless you want to open all the way and tweak it up/down using the stop button. That is not repeatable, so any vertical adjustment to optimize picture position has to happen via your projector mount, or by physically moving the entire screen mount up/down further if needed. . Otherwise, the display quality is good, gain and while levels are appropriate and has a nice picture (used in this case with an epson 1080p projector)

Some older reviews are quite critical of this screen. Perhaps elite was able to iron out some of their issues as the screen i installed is perfect. The installation process was straight forward and i love the mounting system which allows for easy placement and near infinite horizontal adjustment. Simply attach the brackets to your wall studs or ceiling joists, and click the screen into the brackets. You can then slide as much as you need to center the screen. Very cool. The rf and ir remotes work perfectly well, and the screen lowers and raises quickly and relatively quietly. This 135" tab-tension beauty matched to my epson 5040ube makes for an awesome movie night. Another bonus was the great price paid, which was hundreds less than the current price of the 120" model. I had the screen in my saved list and pounced when i noticed the impressive price drop. I do feel bad for the poor ups guy who had to lug the 140", 81lb box to the door all be himself. Most screens this size are delivered by freight carrier. (as they really should be) even with its size, it required only 1 extra set of hands to help lift it into the brackets. It was so easy, i now want to mount screens into every room of the house. Wonder if i can get a volume discount.

W. Hayward, Northamptonshire says

Had this for a couple months now. It was more than i wanted to spend but this allowed me to install a 65" oled behind it and still have projector in same room. One nice thing the black border is built into fabric and it's much straighter than what i had on my old screen. The up/down of screen is slow but by the time the projector is fully on, it's ready to go. Fabric seems to stay in place, no curling that i can tell. I know there were some reports of that happening but i haven't seen it on mine. Really happy with it, glad to have the old screen out, this makes it nice having both screens in one room.

Disadvantage and Critical reviews

T. Gloria, Waltham Forest says

As a long time online store buyer, i believe this is the first review i have ever made. That being said, i want to share my experience with this screen. . In terms of the projected picture quality, i love it. In terms of the reflective material and ambient light rejection it s amazing. . I would like to warn of a few issues to give notice for future buyers. For reasearch purposes, i will mention i installed my 120 screen via the brackets being suspended from the cieling as indicated in instructions. . First thing to mention is that that was a dot of adhesive about 2-3 mm in diameter near the center of the projection surface. Doesn t sound like a big deal until the projector hits it and it created what equated to a huge dead pixel effect right in the center of the screen. At first i worried this was a permanent issue but eventually got brave enough to attempt scraping the dot off myself and it luckily worked out as planned. . The only other issue was that whatever paint or material they used to spray on the black drop area of the screen always wants to stick once the screen is retracted. This means every time the screen is lowered after more than 8-10 hours, the screen has a hard time doing so. . I have to stop and start the lowering at just the right timing to help prevent it although that still doesn t really work. . I called tech support and the answer was to give the whole screen a wipe down with and specific solution of soapy water in a very specific manner to try to wash away the residue left by the factory process. . This means i have to risk ruining a brand new, very expensive screen to get it working as it should fresh from the factory. Maybe the thinking is that this is chump change to the majority of buyers who drop the dough to buy this screen. Not sure but either way, that should be rectified. . I bring these issues to light because future buyers may think it is an isolated instance and i wish to help in that case. . Customer service was very helpful and did their best to assist.

11/14/2018:. . I'm replacing a killer 96in 4:3 da-lite screen i've had since 2003! (. When you couldn't get a flat panel bigger than 55in that was less than 4in thick and under 100lbs! . . Not wanting to spend $1, 500 again on a da-lite screen, i settled on two candidates. The qualgear ultra white 1. 2 and the spectrum2, after about 3 months of searching. . The one common theme of all the reviews from people that had ordered either one of these screens was shipping and customer service issues. I thought i would be the one lucky person to not experience those issues. I was very, very wrong. . The screen arrived trashed (see pictures. ) two day shipping. . I've opened a return and already re-ordered the same screen. Let's see how it goes. . Really hope the spectrum2 screen looks good. The qualgear (which also arrived in a box that looked like it had been used as a punching bag) was wrinkled, saggy at the edges and didn't have the contrast was expected in a dark room.

The instructions that came with it were in spanish. The screen was not pre tension-ed like the instructions said it would come. There are waves in the screen from where its been rolled up(it comes with a pamphlet informing that this is normal and they will go away). It only mounts at the end, all those neat elite screen videos show there other screens have sliding mount brackets, this does not and the upper bar and the screen is not centered(i guess for the motor) so when you mount it you have to take that into effect so the screen will be centered. Hopefully the waves will disappear so i don't have to return it and go through them mounting process again. . Pro- looks killer when it rolls down, pairs with my harmony hub. . Cons- waves in screen, mounting points, instructions,

You get what you pay for. I thought this company was the best and made the top of the line screens. Well i didn't realize that there were so many quality levels you can go with. This is the bottom of the barrel of their electric screens. I functions properly and if you aren't really picky it is a great buy, but if you are the least bit concerned about picture quality, then research the best screens first and spend a bit more. It is grainy so you can see the screen material in the picture. The balac drop down is more than 6 inches so their numbers are wrong. More like at least 9. And the edges do curl and i do have a small soft bend or crease that it's a fixed crease but just due to how it hangs i guess.

J. Evelyn, Saarland says

After about 30 days i've noticed that the screen is rumpled and wavy at the bottom. And big waves across the center. The worst part is when you are watching a sports ticker. At the bottom the words are rolling up and down as they cross the waves. For almost $200 i sort of expected it to last longer than 30 days. . Update: even worse after 4 months. All panning footage is completely ruined by the waviness. In addition, the noise it make going up and down sounds more like an elevator in a horror movie than a quality piece of a/v equipment.

V. Dorine, Barnet

If you're like me, which is someone who wants the biggest bang for their buck, you probably settled on the elite screen spectrum series after doing some research. I mean, what's not to like? it isn't $600, it has motorized operations and it has a 12v trigger that you can hook up to your projector. For the money, it produces a nice bright image and it's relatively light weight. Oh and it's good looking too which fits right at home in your rec room. Yes, it has all of this and more and generally, i have to say that i am very pleased with the overall functionality of my purchase. If it didn't have the problems i mention below, i'd easily give it 5 stars and recommend it right away. Here's why i give it an average review. . Problem 1: ask yourself, what is the reason this screen costs so little? you're buying it direct for one and that's usually a good thing. The problem is that the company tries to trim costs by using a bulk international freight service and that's where things go downhill pretty quickly. Nowhere do they tell you that you might have to make arrangements during your day to meet the freight company at some convenient location (for them) because the truck can't travel up steep hills or on smaller neighborhood streets. An email would have been nice (like many other companies) to let you know when it's coming and that you'll need to arrange for a special signed pickup. We were lucky that my wife happened to be home on the day of delivery and received a phone call, not the morning of, but when the driver was at our local walmart parking lot. Wow, that's great service. . Problem 2. As many, many, many others have complained about, the shipment was damaged. This was not obvious by looking at the shipping box. There was some rough punch marks on the box but it wasn't caved in so my wife accepted the package. I would have also. Pulling the screen out revealed that the metal housing that the screen rolls into had a nice baseball sized dent in the middle. Yes, i should have filed to send it back. Problem is, it's going to be a christmas gift and i don't have that kind of time. Also, the dent was mostly on the top of the housing would be facing the ceiling so, i decided to live with it. I promptly removed the end cap, motor, and screen roll to hammer out the dent from the inside. Total pita that could have been avoided if the company properly packaged their stuff. The screen is protected on the ends with square closed cell foam and is surrounded by a plastic wrapper. It's then slid into an 8" x 8" x 96" long box with foam supports around it every few feet. That's it. If that was my product, it would be packaged in a thick cardboard tube and then put in the box. Pretty poor if you ask me and it's no wonder they have so many damage complaints. . Problem 3: when i removed the motor, it was obvious that whoever assembled the mechanism rushed the job because there were two wires that had the insulation stripped off of them by someone shoving them into the housing upon assembly. I wonder how long it would have been been for one of them to ground out on the metal housing and kill my motor? unreal. To make matters worse, there's a quality assurance sticker on the back of the housing signed by a guy named dan. Stick to your day job, dan. This thing should have found it's way into the circular file. . Reassembling the screen took a little time only because i had to figure out how to reset the range on the limit switch. I would not recommend dis assembly if you're not mechanically inclined. You basically have to unwind the screen pull the screen tube off of the limit switch and then roll the limit switch to it's lowest setting until it stops. Then, wind the screen up to where you find it to be an acceptable length when fully lowered and reassemble. You'll then have to reset the limit switch adjuster so that the screen stops just below the housing when raised. I probably turned the adjuster 50 times clockwise to get this right. . Bottom line, good screen, works well. Terrible packaging, terrible delivery mechanism, no communication from the company to tell you about making arrangements for pickup, and it came damaged just like countless others on this review site. If you want to take a chance on buying one, go for it. Obviously with over 600 reviews, many will get perfectly good ones. Unfortunately, i just can't recommend it knowing the damage risks and my own experience.

Needed a motorized screen for a budget minded client, so gave the elite screens spectrum a go. Ended up working out ok, but the thing is pretty cheaply made. Takes a painfully long time for the screen to fully deploy, and the rj-45 socket for the relay control would not reliably hold the connector. Biggest gripe is, and again this was a budget driven purchase so keep some perspective, because the screen does not use tab tension-ing to keep the screen sides tight, the screen material tends to curl in on itself as it drops. Not enough to really affect the picture but it is kinda cheesy. In fact, that's how i would describe this screen; effective but rather cheesy.

R. Irene, Auvergne says

The construction for the price is great. The quality not so much. I received the screen in 2 days with prime shipping via fedex. The box had a few dings from shipping nothing to cause concern. When i opened the box and un packed it there were 4-5 dents and chips in the paint. None lined up with a box dent. These were there when it shipped. Big stickers on the box saying it was perfect when it left the factory. I put it up anyway knowing i was going to cover it with a valance and curtain. When the screen was hung and rolled down we noticed a blemish in the lower rh side (bit hard to see in the photos). After watching a couple of movies with the kids, the spot was noticeable in bright scenes. Maybe it was a second not sure, but its going back. We will give them one more shot.

B. Wanda, Camden

I was expecting an absolutely flat screen. The tab tension screen is good but not great. There are visible sags for lack of a better term. Also the remote seems to be weak. It takes several clicks before the screen reacts. With this said the image is great and rarely do these issues show. I am not sure if i would buy tab tensioned again because of the increase in cost but this may be much better than the non-tab tensioned.

D. Bertie, Western Australia says

I upgraded from a favi 120" electric that had died on me after about 3 years of (ab)use. Biggest issue i had with the favi was the slight curling on the sides. Back then, a decent tension screen was upwards of $800 to $1k. Jumped on this when the price finally dropped due to the allure of a budget tension screen. First thing i noticed when i lowered the screen was the smoothness/quietness of the motor, as other reviews have mentioned. Not a deal breaker for me either way, but nice to have. Unfortunately, once it was completely down, i could immediately see curling on the sides. I also noticed the piece of string on either side of the screen that is supposed to be providing the tension (along with tabs) did not feel 'tense' at all. With hopes that i could adjust the tension myself, i went to elite's own website for this screen, but found nothing indicating i could adjust on my own. There is also a 'user guide' included in the box with the screen, but that consists of a small, single-sided page with very minimal information. Fortunately, they have online chat available, which i always prefer. First thing the rep suggested was to let the screen acclimate to the temperature of the room for a couple of days. They also provided a separate link to a 6 page 'user guide' that did have much more information, along with instructions on how to adjust the tension. Odd thing about the paragraph with these instructions is there are a couple of lines stating the tension should not require any adjustment as it has already been set to the 'ideal' tension at the factory. My other concern was voiding my warranty by adjusting it, which the rep said would not happen if i adjusted it. . The rep also provided a pdf via download that had specific instructions on how to adjust the drop. Very strange this is not just provided in the documentation with the screen, or on the website. After reading the pdf, it would seem elite does this to make sure you understand that over adjusting the drop (ie. Letting the screen drop too far past its maximum drop) will damage the motor and void your warranty. Makes sense. . The delivery was smooth. Screen was well packaged and delivered as scheduled with no visible signs of damage to the exterior. Inside, screen casing looked perfect. Did notice a bit of a smell from the screen once lowered, but nothing overbearing, and only when i put my nose right up to the screen. . I will update this review after about a week or two of use regarding the curling and whether or not it improves on its own.

U. Delgado, Saskatchewan

Writing this review after 6 months. 3 stars for 2 reasons: a couple of weeks ago, something broke and screen is no longer going down, appears to be some kind of plastic where a screw controlling how low will screen go did crack fyi, we use this screen 2 - 3 times per week. . Elite was easy to reach by phone and very supportive, but replacement screen is not yet available. We may have to wait 3 weeks and we spent 2 weeks on the phone working on the resolution . Last, be aware on this screen that you will want to purchase a remote, which is extra approx $80 . Beside this, screen does its job. It is difficult for me to evaluate 4k performance, and without comparing side by side with an other screen difficult to compare to any other screen. I should say that it is not as good in terms of definition as an led tv - but this is expected - and that i am very happy with image.

Tldr: do not under any circumstances buy this product.  elite screens starling tab-tension 2, 135" 16:9, 6" drop, tensioned electric motorized projector screen, stt135uwh2-e6. . Longer review:. . I have ordered two elite screens already. Let me be clear: they're terrible. The first one (elite screens starling 2, 135-inch 16:9 with 6" drop, electric motorized auto hd projection projector screen, st135uwh2-e6) was covered in wrinkles, which of course makes the viewing experience yucky. So i did some research and learned that tab-tension screens are better at ensuring wrinkles don't develop. Thus, i purchased this screen, and what do you know? it has wrinkles too. All over the place. If you don't believe me, i've attached a photo of the newly installed screen. Note: nothing was done to damage this item before installing it. We popped it right out of the box, lifted it up and mounted it on the wall with no trouble. It just came this way, and it seems that this is how most of them come. . Online store should be ashamed to sell such a shoddy product.

I needed a 100" screen with a black case and a down stop adjustment so i emailed elite support to see if this screen had the adjustment. They got back to me. Said this screen could be adjusted, even sent me the instructions after i asked for them. So i ordered it. First screen comes in with the box broke open, screen is damaged, thanks fedex. Its their issue though so no reason to ding the product. Second one comes in, box looks good. Even a note on the box about how the product left the factory with no dents, etc. Not true! . Screen has a dent in it, but appears operational. Where's the quality control at elite? subtract a star. The ding is on the top and hard to see. Didn't want to go through the hassle of sending a second one back so i'm keeping it. At this point, the screen appears to work just fine, slower than molasses, but quiet. Picture is decent for the price. Next problem, screen down stop cannot be adjusted, subtract another star (-2). Elite was wrong, they sent me the intructions for the wrong screen too. Contacted elite support to make sure i was right about the screen not being ajustable, no response. Guess they don't want to acknowledge they are wrong. Subtract another star from support. Now at -3 for a final rating of 2 stars. My recommendation would be to go with another screen manufacturer unless no one else has what you need. The product is not bad, but elite doesn't impress me.

N. Whiteman, South Gloucestershire says

It's been very useful in my medical practice; the dietician uses it extensively to project power point displays and websites using a projector i also bought on online store. Good quality screen, image is fine, and the hand-held control to raise and lower the screen works fine, too. *important addendum added six or so months after purchase: the screen's motor has stopped working consistently in the last couple of months, and it was definitely not over used. We cannot retract it completely or it will jam; it must be left hanging from the ceiling mounted case about 3 feet or it will not come out at all. More often than not, when unrolling it, the motor must be assisted by gently pulling on the screen or it will not extend further.

This screen is a great deal. It looks great and the remote works pretty good, however you need a good line of sight. I have it hanging in front of two windows and the backing material really does keep any light from getting thru. Some complain that it takes too long to drop, but what do you have to compare it to? how many of you guys own more than one electric projector screen? maybe a few! the cord is pretty short so i installed a recessed outlet up near the ceiling and it looks great. Only bad thing is the installation. It is kind of heavy and awkward so you will need at least two people. Also good luck catching a stud. Most studs are 16" center to center, so if you get one end on a stud, you will be very lucky to catch one on the other end. And if you do, it will not be where you want to hang the screen. I mounted it on my wall using 100 pound rated toggle bolts. Yeah, i didnt feel too good about not hanging my 170ish dollar projector on drywall anchors but it feels pretty solid. Also the screen comes with no hardware so be forewarned. . 10/26/13 update - i have changed my rating to 3 stars. The screen has started to curl inward at the sides. It is only noticable when i watch something like football with linear objects. Also you see the curve with the program guide. It is very unfortunate because pretty much all i use my media room to watch is sports. It appears to go away if you leave the screen rolled down for a day or two, and gets worse when the screen is stored rolled up. I emailed elite, and they sent me a reply saying that it is normal for a "non-tensioned" screen and is not noticeable when viewed from more than 11' away. Total bs because you can see it no matter how far away you are. Funny how they dont mention anything about this being tensioned or not before you purchase. I emaled him back and told him i still was not happy and never got a repsonse. . I still reccomend the screen, just be aware that it may curl inward at the edges if store rolled up. If i knew that, i would have not forked out the extra cash for a screen that rolls up.

I have used this in my living room with a benq ht1085st for a year. The raising/lowering mechanism seems quite accurate and so far dependable though very slow. The problem is with the screen materials. The outer black edge has curled forward over 1 inch which causes warping at the edges of the image. I'm not looking forward to trying to get warrantee replacement based on other reviews i have read here.

I purchased the electric84h screen here about 2 months ago. Great packaging, quick shipping and fantastic customer service. Can't say the same about the product itself. It arrived with waves and curled edges which i expected. I contacted elite screens and they suggested i leave it down for 2 or 3 days. I left it down for 7 and the waves were mostly gone but the curled edges were terrible. I sent some pictures in and they said go ahead and get a replacement. Thanks to online store i was able to have a replacement within 2 days (prime) and had 30 days to return the first one at no cost. After the replacement was installed, i had the same issue. I left it down for 3 days. This straightened it quite a bit but as soon as the screen was recessed into its case and then brought down the curled edges were back. On top of the curled edges i also noticed bubbling on both screens at the bottom. This i believe is because the bar is glued in small sections rather than along the entire length. I am going to send this one back for the same issue, but instead of a replacement by elite i am going to try out the favi. Since the favi is cheaper i can afford the 100" which will likely reduce the effect of curled edges. I think with the smaller screens you are more likely to see this. Again, great customer service from elite. You can chat with a rep on the website within seconds. Having done this through online store i was protected from any return shipping fee's which was a huge bonus. This screen material looks great though and has a much better contrast than the mustang i had before, so hopefully the favi can keep up in that respect. I wouldn't recommend the 84" but id hesitate to say don't buy the larger spectrum screens, they could be a lot better.

We use it less than a few times and the gear is not working any more. Elite screens will not honor the warranty. Stay away with companies that don't fulfill their commitments.

I had to modify mine to get it to even look like it had tension. I have an accuscreen that has no tension that was less wavy without the curled edges. I tried to adjust the tension which had little or worst effect on the screen. When i purchased this i saw the reviewer with the pictures of the screen he was trying to rma and i thought so many people left positive reviews so he must be picky or just a complainer. Well i got mine and have had it over a year and from day one the edges where the tension strings are were curled just like his photo. They instruct you to leave it down to get the wrinkles out and for the most part this works if i leave it down for a couple of days but i could never get the edges straight. I've had the tension strings totally loose and i've tightened it to where it would cause the screen to wrinkle more nothing helped. After i let it sit and the waves settle the one reviewer that said you won't notice the tiny waves is 100% correct and the picture looks good only my edges were always curled. I guess this is considered a low end screen because people keep saying the thing that i hate the most when they reading reviews. "for the money its a good " i hate that because $400 - $500 it a lot too me so for the money i want a product to be as advertised even if it was $1. I'm not complaining about the tiny waves because you can't see them watching a movie so i gave it 3 stars. I know i didn't buy an imax screen. But to have a tension screen that curls the edges worst than my accuscreen without tension is bad. Once i modded mine to get rid of the curls its a pretty good screen. But had i thought of my mod and used it on the accuscreen before i purchased this i probably would not have made this purchase. I added 3lbs weights. I may need to add 5lbs to the left side.

Good screen, but has two flaws: 1) does not include any remote capability as advertised, and you have to buy a $160 kit to get that. Not even a rj-45 port to run a cable to your projector unless you spend 35% of the value of the screen. Having a cord coming out of the screen is just ugly. Similar priced screens include this. 2) there is no way to adjust the black drop top without voiding the warranty; there is a 12" gap at the top which is way too long.

I really wanted to like this but needed to rate it neutrally. It came very fast and was on sale so that was awesome. It did however come very damaged to the point of not working and i needed to return it. This is the 4th projector screen i have purchased (first from online store) and they have all come damaged. I think its the just the awkward size but still. I want to give props to the free return service from online store! that was my first time using it and was just too easy so thank you! . I did nervously upgrade to the 128 elite screen scared that it would come damaged. It did have a small dent (two inches) and a tweaked mount but on the back side so it's not noticeable. Works like a charm for sure but that puts me at 5 damaged projector screens haha (i gave the 128 inch a 5 star rating) i recommend to customer service to pack more of the foam cushions to avoid future damaged but got an email telling me they have sophisticated packaging logistics and that my case is rare. Five damaged screens is not rare! so be weary and double check your package when it comes. Hope this helps

This is an awful product and even worse seller! the screen just wouldn't work once installed and i immediately raised a return request. I called the person on the number that was printed on the return label and he didn't even have a clue about the ra reference number i gave him. Moreover he was extremely rude and was asking me why the product isn't working as if i was technical expert on the matter. And why should i be paying for returning a defective piece of equipment? !

Do not fall into the trap. The product description is misleading. This screen doesn t come with a remote or a 12v trigger to wirelessly sync the screen to the projector. The seller will force you to buy a seperate kit for wireless control of the unit. Worst customer service experience with seller not accepting the misleading description as their fault.

It's been a pleasure to own a projector, which has been my primary device for viewing film and television since i first got it in 2016. This screen has been serviceable, but i am immensely frustrated by the curling on the sides. I called elite screens about this and was told that my only option for the screen was to put weights on the sides, which is a huge inconvenience. The image itself is still good despite this. If i had the option, i would have gotten a fixed screen from silver ticket or a comparable brand, but my room layout is such that a drop-down screen was necessary. Buy a fixed screen if you can, otherwise, this is a good option, but be aware that you'll need to weigh it down.

Do not have a inbuilt remote. Add-on remote will be around $100. Too much. Just bought since i wanted 90" . Screen is not that great have waves at the bottom. Non noticeable from far distance . Can see easily when no movie is running. Ok for the price range. Maxwhite fg does not make any difference as customer supports told me that is better quality.
