Epson Home Cinema 2150 Wireless 1080p Miracast, 3lcd Projector (hc2150) 2093

Review for home cinema wireless miracast

Price was $859.99. I didn't purchase this from online store, so you won't see the "verified purchase" label, but i thought another review might helpful regardless. I'm a projector nut, and have seen many projectors and have lots of comparisons to pull from. . Let me start with a bottom line summary: the epson 2150 is a significant improvement over the epson 2040/2045 of the prior generation, which i owned at one point. As such, it is an excellent projector, especially at the current sale price of $699. Now let's get into the nitty gritty details. . Contrast: first of all, the manufacturer contrast specs are bogus, check actual review sites for the technical measurement. And don't be turned off by the fact that actual numbers are much lower than advertised. The images are great. Tv's give wrong numbers as well (except maybe oled). Contrast is the biggest area of improvement over the previous generation. The 2040 had a terrible black level, which caused the native contrast (no auto iris engaged) to be approximately 500:1 per measurements. The native contrast on this new model is 3-4 times greater per review, and it shows. Images look great and have much more depth to them. While dlp's were way ahead of the 2040 and 2045, the 2150 can compete head on dlp's in native contrast thanks to this model. (note: while i don't own the equipment to measure contrast, i rely on reviews by those who do, as well as my own observations when the seeing the projectors in person). . Brightness: not a big focus of my review, since i like to view projectors in the dark without much ambient light. But needless to say it was plenty visible with the lights on. As with any projector, it will not compete with direct sunlight and will look it's best in the dark. However, with some ambient lighting, it's brightest modes are up for the challenge. . Flexibility: i won't get to technical here, but the zoom range on this model is significantly improved over the 2040. If you place the projector on a coffee table, you have much more image sizes you can achieve using the zoom when compared to the 2040. . Auto-iris - an auto iris closes the light path so that dark scenes can look darker. Sometimes in the process of doing this, however, it can make noises or make the adjustments in a "jerky" way. I'm pleased to report that the 2150 has a quiet iris. While you can notice the dimming on the screen when it's operating, it is a smooth process. . Fan noise: this hasn't changed really from the 2040. Eco mode is decent for watching movies and it's not too noticeable. Normal lamp mode is a bit noisy. If you're talking and watching sports with friends, you'd probably tune out the fan noise in normal mode, especially with the sound of the broadcast as well. . Comparisons:. Epson 2150 vs. Benq ht2050 - dlp's have thinner lines between pixels and give a nice looking image in this regard. The ht2050 also has a more easy to ignore and subtle fan noise. The 2150 can essentially match the ht2050 in contrast. The 2150 beats the ht2050 in brightness, zoom, and color vibrancy (though the 2050 is no slouch in this regard). They both have a little bit of vertical lens shift. My pick would be the epson. In addition to the excellent image from the epson, i am sensitive to the rainbow effect that dlp's produce, though many aren't bothered by it or notice. I just prefer 3-chip projectors. . Epson 2150 vs sony hw45es - i own the sony. It's my flagship and it's gorgeous. While it might not be fair to compare a $700-$900 projector (depending on the sale) to a $2, 000 projector, i'm going to do it anyway. The sony excels in refinement. The fan is near dead-silent, the image is natural looking and had plenty of depth with it's 4, 800-7, 000:1 (depending on mode selected) native contrast ratio. It also has vertical and horizontal lens shift and an awesome remote. . The epson is much more portable, affordable, and still produces a very compelling image. While the epson won't dethrone my sony, i was almost taken aback at how good of an image you can get for $699 (sale price currently). While projector and cinema nuts like me will always choose the subtle refinements and advantages of the sony; most people, if they viewed them side by side showing the same thing, would rightfully question why someone would pay $1, 300 more for a difference not that huge. And i wouldn't blame them.

Great projector. We've had it for almost a week and used it to project halloween images and outdoor pool party movies. Very bright. Spent lot of time comparing the makes and models, decided early to go with epson and then tougher decision as to model. Liked the combination of price, brightness, contrast and wifi. No complaints so far. Epson home cinema 2150 wireless 1080p miracast, 3lcd projector Review (hc2150)

My first projector purchase. Ceiling mounted. Generally halfway between the throw calculation distance based on data from epson's handy distance calculator website. Projecting on an elite spectrum 125" diagonal screen. Really great picture, not quite as sharp as a high quality flat screen tv, but very, very, very nice picture. Especially for the screen size. I have zero complaints and the projector has exceeded my expectations. For the money, this is a great value. The setup was very easy as the projector has multiple options for picture adjustment - zoom, focus, horizontal shift (up and down) and keystone adjustments for tilt and edges. The internal speaker is ok, but i bought a set of powered 2 channel speakers and am very impressed. You will need an hdmi sound extractor to do this - readily available from online store and not very expensive. My family absolutely loves it. Highly recommend this projector. -W. Cunningham

Epson Cinema Wireless Miracast Projector Home Theater

  • Pleasantly surprised by this projector. We didn t have much experience with projectors beforehand so we didn t know what to expect, but the quality of picture is great and brightness also great. I d say it s as good as a tv as far as those characteristics go. Very good for our theater room in basement. Super easy to set up, barely took any time at all and we were up and watching a movie right away. Totally recommend this projector. So far so great!
  • This projector is replacing a benq w1070. I love the projector, is brighter than the benq cause is has 2500 lumens and the benq 2000 but picture wise i think they are booth on par (same same) great outstanding colors plus you get the wireless feature with the epson. The only down point is the fan noise when you have it in regular power instead of eco, but once you have the movie going you won't hear the fan noise anymore. I have around 3000 hours on my benq so it was almost time to replace the bulb. The only reason why i'm keeping this epson is cause the bulb replacement is $50 instead of $250 for the benq, so is a keeper. Hopefully it will give me years of entertainment with no problems at all. Benq if you reading this you will be loosing a lot of costumers just cause your prices on the bulb replacements. $50 or $250?
  • Amazing picture. Bought it about 2 months ago and already need a replacement. The fan is rattling .
  • The fan is very loud and totally screws up the audio in the room. I am very surprised how epson thinks this in an acceptable design. The noise is lower in eco mode, but still audible. I heard the same complaint from my bro who has epson 2100.
  • I bought an epson powerlite home cinema 8350 projector from online store in 2013. Because of apartment moves, i didn't set it up until 2015. . It broke after a year of light use (less than an hour per day). The local epson service center charged me $100 to look at it. They said it needs a new optical engine, which costs $1500. I would send it to epson's main us service center, but there isn't one! . Epson depends entirely on local, mom-and-pop service centers. . The projector makes the sound of a gear or clutch slipping when it starts up. I thought that was normal, because it was working fine, but then one day it refused to start. The status lights flash indicating "internal error". . I'm leaving this review under epson's current models, because i think my experience is relevant to epson in general. I replaced the epson with the least expensive sony (vpl-hw45es), which i'm setting up today.

When it came time to replace my 60" plasma, i started my obsessive research on projectors. I spent weeks learning about them, comparing brands and models, and reading reviews. I finally decided on an epson home cinema 1060 (note: not this projector). I was so excited and went to set it up in what i thought was our pretty average-sized living room, only to discover that i had missed something in all my research, projection distance range! please be sure to measure the size of your screen and the distance from the screen to where you want to place the projector and check that the projector you want will work with that range. When i mounted the hc 1060 on the shelf i installed, the projector was too far away and the image was far too large to fit on the 110" screen, even with the zoom at the smallest setting. I also found that if the projector is to be mounted high, it must be upside down, even if you intend to place it on a high shelf. This is because the lense is designed to project the image up from a low surface so that the bottom of the image is almost in line with the lense, and the top of the image is around a 45 angle out of the lense. I called epson to see if i had any options, because i really did not want to ceiling-mount the projector closer (long story). The tech support was very helpful, but they left me with a difficult decision to make: either move the hc 1060, or return it and purchase the hc 2150 (this projector). The hc 2150 features a much wider zoom range and lense shift, making it much more flexible to install. The only potential negative was that it featured 2500 lumens of brightness compared to the 3100 lumens in the hc 1060. However, the hc 2150 has a 60, 000:1 contrast ratio where the hc 1060 has only a 15, 000:1. I took the chance and purchased the hc 2150 and could not be happier! i was worried about the reduction in lumens because our living room has a lot of ambient light and we watch tv in the middle of the day frequently. As it turns out, the higher contrast ratio of this projector more than compensates for the reduction in brightness and also produces a much better image! i can't believe how good the image quality is, even in the middle of the day with ambient light in the room. I attached some photos to show this. Bottom line, you will not be disappointed with this projector!

Click to see NoticeEpson Home Cinema 2150 Wireless 1080p Miracast, 3lcd Projector (hc2150)"I took a lot of time and did a lot of research to pick out what kind of projector i wanted for my outdoor theatre we had installed in our backyard. I wanted something that would work before the sun had totally went down. Epson's reputation is what drew me to their brand and cost, lumens and connectivity is what brought me to this certain projector. I wanted something that i could have the option to connect to wirelessly though i do more often run this from my ipad which connects to my home server and to all my netflix, online store video, etc accounts. . It was effortless to set up and has lots of options for inputs which is perfect if i ever want to use this somewhere else. I do not use the internal speaker as i have this hardwired to my surround sound system in the yard so i do not have any feedback on that part. . Overall the projector works great and has an excellent picture, especially when dark but also when their is still some sun out (not directly on my screen) which is great because i have a young son who loves watching his favorite shows outside but cannot stay up on these late summer nights to watch them in complete dark. I project this on a 150" screen and it gives an amazing picture, very vivid and crystal clear. . My biggest complaint is the epson app, it is not that easy to use and does have connection issues even though this is right near my router. If they make some changes to the app i would upgrade this to a 5 star review."

Homegear 110 HD Motorized 16:9 Projector Screen W/ Remote Control

I love this screen. It's smooth and quiet, but is a bit slow, but nothing to complain about. When we're turning on our theater we just push the button to lower the screen first, then turn on the stereo and then projector and by the time everything is warmed up, the screen has already been down. I wish there was an option to choose which side of the screen had the plug, tho, as we have ours over the ledge of our stairs in our loft and when the screen is up the cable hangs in the middle, not near the wall. The wall is on the left side, opposite the plug side. But we're over it. Love it so far. It's been about 7 months.

Homegear 110 Hd Motorized 16:9 Projector Screen W/ Remote Control (Office Products) FAQ.

This is a very nice screen for the price. I purchased it to replace a favi screen, which broke after about 5 years of use. This new screen is basically a favi screen, the only difference being the remote control, which is just rf, while the favi is both rf and ir. The remote receiving/controller module is nearly identical on the outside as that of the favi. Electrically, the connections are essentially identical. So, i wired the new screen to the old favi controller module and now can control the new screen with both rf and ir, which was important for maintaining integration with my home automation system. One other point, although i have no objective data, subjectively the image on this screen may be a little brighter than it was with the favi screen. -Notice from E. Matherly, Iowa

Now i'm just finally writing a review for this. So it passes with an awesome picture and video games quality display when watching on this screen. Trust me, call of duty, halo games and super mario games are breath taking to look at on here. The remote features makes everything alot easier too. Mines is set up by my doorway, so screen up or down is no problem with the remote. It's been about 2 years and still working just like when i first brought it. I have an infocus in1112a dlp 3d projector and the 3d on the screen looks flawless. So 2 years folks and this baby is still working fine. In 2018 i'm gonna go for a bigger screen from 200" and this is the only manufacturers that i'm gonna get it from. Good quality and fair price.

- G. WilsonFor the price, this screen almost seems to good to be true. Unfortunately, that much seems hit or miss. My screen in particular came with some pretty nasty fold marks and after a few days of hanging in hopes that those might stretch out, waves along the edges began appearing, although not as drastically as some of the other pictures linked from past reviewers. However, it's pretty noticeable with nothing projecting on it. That said, i own an epson 2030 which is rather bright and will hide most of the lines and screen issues unless a dark scene of a movie comes along. For the price though, the motor is quiet, the texture of the screen itself seems well made, and the image looks really nice so no real complaints other than the fold lines and waves that don't really want to go away.

This is a great product. I easily installed it myself and love it. I have a theater at home! it's great. Only issue is the smell it emits but i think it will leave after a few days. There is some wavy lines in screen but i left it down and hope it goes away. It's really not that bad though so it doesn't bother me. . Highly recommend.

Epson Home Cinema 2100 1080p 3LCD projector

Epson home cinema 2100 is the newer version of epson home cinema 2040 with a brighter projection, sleeker body design, verticle lens shift, and 1. 6 zoom lens. Both the vertical lens shift and zoom lens gives this projector more leeway to choose installation position. If the spot on your ceiling is a little far you can use the zoom lens to make it closer. If the projector position is a little high, you can use the verticle lens shift to adjust the lens to project to the desired position. These features used to be available only on a lot more expensive large conference room projectors. . The color is vibrant as all recent epson projectors are. The brightness of 2500 lumens is useful in most indoor situations, but not next to a huge bright window. However, the epson's equal color and white brightness is what makes the projector delivering the great picture in even a bright room. No need to turn the lights off or blind all windows to watch a movie. . This is one of the best home cinema projectors depending on the features you are looking for. Epson home cinema 2150 offers more features and higher contrast ratio for a little higher price, but unless you really need those features, 2100 is a perfect home cinema to enjoy your movies on a huge screen. . I recommend it!

Thanks to its vertical lens shift and 1. 6x zoom, you can place it virtually anywhere. Plus, a built-in 10 w speaker means you can enjoy hd content out of the box. 1. Epson Home Cinema 2100 1080p 3lcd Projector (hc2100) FAQ.

Can this projector justify its price? . . After ripping down my old epson and mounting this one on my ceiling, playing a few movies on my drop down projector screen, i think the answer is probably. It really depends on what you need. . The construction quality is good, it all feels solid and no different really than my last epson, which lasted many years without any trouble. . Installation is easy. I recommend a ceiling mount even though this only has three mounting points (rather than the typical four). This unit puts out a fair amount of fan noise, and on the ceiling you just don't notice it. Using the remote, it was easy to select ceiling mount (flipping the image) and then quick corner (letting you precisely aim each corner of the image at your screen). I plugged a steam link into the hdmi port and was quickly watching movies and playing games. . Image quality is outstanding. It's far beyond my last projector and the "cinema" branding is a reasonable label for what this product is for. The brightness is amazing even across a living room / kitchen open floor plan with lightly colored walls at noon, with no good way to eliminate light. It's so bright that this might work without a projector screen, but it would be a waste to cheap out like that. Colors are vivid, almost like watching a plasma screen, and the enormous picture you get with these projectors makes every youtube video feel like a special experience at the theater. . Unlike my other projector, this doesn't come with a carrying bag, and i really don't think this is the best projector to carry to presentations. It's got a much larger lens, is about double the price, and if you're only showing powerpoints, you are better off with a less expensive product with the carrying case. This projector is more suited for a permanent mount in a home, for someone who wants to watch movies and play games. . Audio quality was poor by the standard of a television, but was much better than my last projector. The tinny sounding speaker is adequate. Remember these projectors have to be relatively light weight because so many mounts use molly bolts and drywall to hang. The grand picture quality deserves a soundbar or surround sound setup. . Fortunately, this projector can be controlled over hdmi with minimal setup, and i am controlling mine via a soundbar, so i get rich sound, a seamless experience, and enjoy the great picture. There is no optical audio input. Really you need to use the two hdmi inputs or the inferior vga input. That's not a problem for modern sound systems, but someone out there is still relying on a toslink optical audio input, and this isn't the right projector for them. . All around it's an excellent projector, but it's also a pricey model. For those who really want a vivid, bright picture for watching movies on a drop down screen, this is going to impress and be worth the price. . I've included a photo i took at lunchtime in a pretty bright room, and the picture is blazing sharp. This performance is unlike most projectors! -Notice from A. Cindy, New York

- S. BentonThis is a fantastic projector! after about 10 years with a 720p optoma hd65 it was time for an upgrade. This projector is so much brighter. When we moved the old projector had a tough time showing dark scenes during the day in my living room with the blinds shut. That is not a problem with the epson hc2100. I can have the windows open and it's still plenty bright and still has good contrast. The value of this projector is great. I bought it after reading the "best of" list at projectorreviews. Com. I was looking for a sub-$1000 projector. This one didn't make the cut, but it was specifically listed as the "projector we most wished we could have reviewed". Later they did review it and it got big thumbs-ups. Out of the box it was way too bright, but after i adjusted that and the contrast wife and i were both pleased. At the first football game i adjusted the color and tint for good skin tones and that was about all i had to do. I never thought that i would get into 3d, but i couldn't resist when i found that it was compatible with generic (active) 3d glasses. The kids love watching polar express and others with their glasses on. I wish that this projector could do 2d-to-3d conversion, but that's still found. Normally the projector is very quiet, but if it's doing hard work (like for 3d) the fan gets much louder. It's easy to switch the frame interpolation so you don't get the "soap opera effect" but can watch sports with the most clarity. I *did* notice that when watching sports the ball gets a comet-tail effect with the frame interpolation sometimes, but it's pretty rare and easily overlooked.

I love both the portability and performance of this compact projector. It can be mounted but since i use it at both home and work, i have not done so. The box includes the projector, a remote with batteries and quick start guide. You can access the complete owner's manual at the epson website and it is worth doing. Installation is easy. There is a built in speaker. It is adequate for my work applications but for home theater use i connect to external speakers for a more resonate sound. The images are amazing, very bright and clear. The quality is impressive. The colors are vivid and lifelike and the clarity is incredible. If you are looking for cinema quality images and easy use and set up, this projector is close to perfect.

Epson Home Cinema 2045 1080p 3d Miracast 3lcd Home Theater Projector (v11h709020) FAQ.

This protector is easy to set up and easy to use. The keystone feature, multi-function remote, wifi and casting capability are my favorite features. It wirelessly connected to my g6 easily without having to use an extra google cast device or similar. The picture quality is vivid in dynamic mode however i noticed when casting, the sharpness and clarity do not stay consistent throughout. A very minor flaw. The unit itself heats up very quickly too so make sure you put it in a well ventilated space because it could easily raise the temperature in the room when it's not on eco mode. The internal speaker is sufficient but i definitely recommend connecting it to a more powerful external speaker system. One thing i found frustrating was trying to use the bluetooth feature. Neither my bluetooth speaker nor my bluetooth headphones would connect. -Notice from A. Lindsey, Calderdale

Amazing. We have an older epsom movie mate all in one projector which is great and still working fine. But wasn't hd. I upgraded us to this new epsom and we love it. Is amazing straight out of the box. Easy to set up and use. We mainly use this in the living room projected onto the wall. I just put the console on a table. Works well even midday with two skylights and the front door open. The kids hook up their various consoles and play games. It's so portable though that they also grab it and use it all over. I also bought a ps4 game called horizon zero dawn and it looks spectacular on this as does the new dr strange on blueray. Which was excellent. We've watched that several times and it just gets better. Would definitely recommend epsom projectors. Ours have been very reliable. And it's fun to have that theatre experience at home. For gamers this is a treat.

- O. CandyWe installed this in our basement home theater setup. It's not the brightest projector out there, but really can't be beat for the price! the picture is sharp and the colors are vibrant. Paired with a good projector screen, this is a great value.

Best projector ever. The level of detail is insane, and the quality of the movies is excellent. I didn't do any calibration whatsoever, that's the out of the box resolution and configuration, i had viewsonic, and benq, i returned them and got this one, the quality is amazing, it lacks in aspect ratio funtionality and size adjustment but if read the size and installation guide van figure it out easily. Totally recommended.

Polk Audio RC85i 2-way Premium In-Wall 8 Speakers, Pair of 2 Perfect Damp Humid Indoor/Outdoor Placement - Bath, Kitchen, Covered Porches White, Paintable Grille

These are very good speakers. I installed a set in my garage ceiling and one more set as front main for my 7. 1 system. I am very pleased with the output performance. Very clean and clear sound (high, mids and bass). Initially installed them without any insulation on the back but the punch was pretty strong to a point that the other side room was disturbed. I had to place insulation and the bass output is still strong to the listenning room but less aggresive to the other side of the wall. I would really recommend them specially if you find them as open box or used-like new from online store warehouse for a fraction or the shelve price.

The polk audio rc85i 2-way in-wall speaker delivers incredible sound to any room in your home without using any floor or shelf space. The rc85i is easy to install, requiring only that you cut a hole, feed the wires through, and simply drop the speaker in where it is held in place by rotating cams that safely secure the speaker with no extra assembly or mess. Once installed, the paintable grille and flange allows this in-wall speaker to virtually disappear in the room.

These speakers are great for a number of reasons: first of all they provide a great sound quality for an affordable price. They're ridiculously easy to install: all you'll need is a pencil, a dry-wall saw and a screwdriver. They also look great and the outer part can be painted to match your room. The only downside is you'll need to add a subwoofer if you want to hear the lower frequencies. If you do that, you'll get excellent sound

Mids and highs are fine. Bass not so much - but we are only talking about a 6. 5" woofer here. Good construction and very solid. Wiring job is top notch. No materials included that would absorb moisture. Nice product.

Elite Screens Spectrum, 100-inch Diag 16:9, Electric Motorized 4K/8K Ready Drop Down Projector Screen, ELECTRIC100H

So far, i'm very happy with this screen. I was torn between this version and the one that had tension wires due to some reviews reporting excessive curling on the edges. While my screen had some curling at first, after leaving it down for a few hours, it seemed to flatten out nicely. Some of the reviews also mentioned "memory lines, " and the screen actually came with a sheet discussing them and that they fade after leaving the screen down for a while to stretch out, but when i lowered mine the first time i didn't notice this at all on mine. . The motor is very quiet (although could be slightly faster), the construction seems to be solid, and the 12v trigger input works perfectly with my projector. I'm very happy with the professional look and feel this product brought to my conference room projector installation. . One review mentioned the fact that the rj45 port for the wall remote or 12v trigger input was on the bottom rather than the top. This is true, and i agree with that reviewer: it would've been nice had that been on the top side with the power. It's not a big deal, but to me it would've made more sense on top since you're likely going to run both power and trigger in the same direction (in my case, up). I don't feel strongly enough about it to knock a star off of my review, though. . I did put a large label across the screen indicating that it was a motorized screen that automatically lowers and raises with the projector power on/off. This is in a shared conference room, and it would only be a matter of time until someone tried to yank the screen down manually. Not sure if this would hurt it or not, but better safe with the warning label. . Overall, i think this is a great screen for the money and would definitely buy it again.

Elite Screens Spectrum 100 Inch Diag (electric100h) FAQ.

This review is for elite starling2 16:9 120 inch diagonal screen, white color finish. The screen material is very good, came with excellent packaging. Online store delivered few days earlier than the original promised date which is good. White color blends with my interiors, good i didn't select black color. Setting up and installing it flush-mount to the ceiling was a big challenge due to its weight. The user manual mentioned it can also be installed to the dry-wall ceiling but this didn't work due to its enormous weight. So i had to first install a 2x6 wooden frame to the ceiling on to the ceiling studs and then install the screen to the wooden-frame. I used a white duct-tape to cover the wooden frame which gave an excellent finish better than painting it. I had to make several visits to homedepot. I wish this screen had sliding brackets like in saker series which could be installed directly to the ceiling studs making the install/mount much easier. It's been around a month since i purchased this screen. The screen so far has been nice and of good quality. The tubular motor is very fast compared to synchronous motor. It comes with both rf and ir remotes which look much nice/modern compared to the remotes offered with other elite screen models including saker series. The extra 14 inches screen drop was useful to me to bring the screen view to eye level. The black bar at the bottom of the screen completely covered/hidden when retracted. I could setup/adjust the drop height to stop exactly above my center channel speaker. I also setup the 5-12v trigger to my panasonic projector so that the screen drops down automatically when i switch on the projector and retracts back when the projector is switched off. Given that this is fiber-glass backed, i expected this to be fully flat but there are some waves in the middle of the screen which are visible during wide panning. Overall i'm satisfied with the product and recommend it. -Notice from K. Cassella, Rhone-Alpes

I was extremely intimidated upon receiving the box for this projection screen. I had no idea how i was going to manage to hang it, and it sat in the box for months. Finally, i opened it and found that they actually made it incredibly easy to suspend this from beams. The support brackets can easily slide to the side so you don't have to get your anchor placement perfect, i got some chain from home depot. Bam. Super quick and easy, you just need a couple ladders and another able body to help just because of the size. As for the picture quality, it's fantastic and considering it's motorized as well i think it's an incredible value.

- E. AnonymousThis screen that i purchased has turned my man-cave into a private little movie theater. If you have the right movie projector and sound system, trust me , when you view your blu-ray movies on this screen, the resolution will amaze you. With the items i have purchased from adc, i no longer even need to go to the actual movie theater. This screen is very large, takes up my entire wall. It comes with two remote controls, one hand -held, and one that you can hard wire into the wall. I hooked both of them up. Word of caution. Do not try to install this screen by yourself. You are going to have to measure your wall and center the screen precisely. The screen is not light-it's got some weight. You will need anchors for your ceiling. I recommend you get a professional to install it. Trust me folks, you are going to love this movie screen. Once you have it hooked up, wait until night time, pull your shades, turn on the movie, set back and enjoy! highly recommended !

I have the motorized 100" and it's been great. I felt the need to upgrade size and i can just barely fit but because of my good experience i felt good ordering the 125" sound transparent screen. (this is so i can put my speakers behind the screen so they do not block the view). I can't wait for my size upgrade! 100" is already really nice but 125" should be spectacular. It's the absolute biggest i can fit in my theater area. I recommend always getting the largest you can fit.

The F.A.Q. for epson home cinema 2150 wireless 1080p miracast, 3lcd projector

Previously i had falsely accused this thing of have bright vertical streaks across the picture, - but it turns out the culprit is my elite screens cinegrey 3d, which has, for some reason, a vertical line of brighter paint/material at random intervals across the screen. . As for the projector itself, the veritcal lens shift and manual horizontal keystone are a godsend for ease of placement. It is very bright, and high in color saturation and accuracy. Picture has just as much contrast (if not more) than my previous love, the benq ht2150st, and blacks are just as black as well. I switched to this epson because i needed a much brighter solution to suit my habit of viewing in daylight, and it has lived up to that task admirably. Granted, the epson is not as sharp as the benq model i had, but it is a barely noticeable difference, and with the sharpness and detail enhancement on, this epson is just as sharp as the benq, even if it only occurs after these processing methods. . All in all, a great projector.

I had a difficult time choosing a projector. The specs as well as price varies immensely. I finally took the plunge and have not regretted my decision. This projector has it all. Great picture at every size i have tried. I unboxed it plugged it in, projected on a textured white while and the picture was great. I have no regrets with this purchase but now i want one for the bedroom.

Ive received my first order defective, and reported, packed, and sent back. Without any communication online store sent me new one at my door in 2 days. New one i got seems working amazing as i expected now. Im not cutting of any star cause service i received was too quick and without hustle! thank you for quick replacement. Projector image is sharp! colors are awesome. Short throw ratio is lower than i expected but i guess i will need to place further for bigger screen. As soon as i receive 3d glasses i will check how it works in 3d mode. Ive connected to my apple tv works fine. I connected my phone via wireless works just fine. So far no issues and im happy with its brightness.

Great picture, easy to set up. If you are hanging if from the ceiling the picture is upside down and you will have to follow the menus to reverse the picture. After that it's all play time.

B. Anonymous, Kingston upon Thames

I'm projecting a 160" screen, the projector is 15 feet away and pretty good when alot of light is present. I would have liked a 3000 lumens light instead bit it still does the job. Great at night and processes fast movies perfectly. I have it hooked up to surround sound speakers.

A. Guest, Prince Edward Island says

I love this projector. Setup was a breeze. Did add some support in the attic to make sure it was mounted stable. Looks sleek (although black would be awesome). Took only a few minutes to position perfectly on my 120 screen from about 12 feet back. Perfect throw. Picture setup was easy and hardly changed any settings. Picture is great. Sure, would 4k have been good. But for $699 i can t argue with this at all. We pretty much only watch tv in the media room now. . Highly recommend this projector.

Z. Sherry, Poitou-Charentes

The colors are bright but accurate. The images move smoothly without any use for the built in interpolation functions. We keep it set on the cinema which is one of the darker settings and it is plenty bright even with the lights on. Everyone who has come over has commented on how clear the picture is. Full 1080p on a screen 4 times the size of a 55 tv makes quite the impact. My home theater has adequate light control, but some sunlight can still leak in and cascade across the screen from the side. This is considered the worst case scenario for ambient light to degrade your image and this projector has little trouble dealing with it. I did quite a bit of research and i am very happy with our purchase. This epson is being used with a 110 screen from silver ticket which was purchased on online store and includes a free projector mount. I have zero complaints about the performance and plan to use the projector for years. I see no need to upgrade until more 4k content is streaming and true 4k projectors drop down to a comparable price. The picture on the 2150 really is quite remarkable. Pros:. Colors are true (not too cool, not too warm). Images are sharp. Movement is smooth. Setup is easy. Vertical lens shift is very nice to have if you want to mount close to the ceiling. Small footprint. Affordable replacement lamps (i haven t needed one yet). . Cons:. Fan noise: it s not nearly as loud as some of the competitors in this price point, and cannot be heard during regular surround sound levels, but if you have never had a projector before, you should know that they have a little hum to them. . Final take away, we love having this projector in our home. The epson 2150 makes watching even tv shows an event. If you are considering getting a projector, i suggest you give this one a try.

H. Hannah, British Columbia says

I haven't been able to cast anything using this projector and the first one i bought had a dead pixel within two weeks of purchase. No problem, it was replaced quickly by online store. . I use a roku and i'm able to stream xfinity stream beta from the roku so i can watch live television shows. Thing that sucks is that i had to run a separate wire for sound when using the roku. The internal speaker is awful. . I also have a ps4 connected. I used a hdmi splitter to have sound go to a sound bar and video to the projector. Again the internal speaker is awful. . Brightness is pretty awesome. I can leave all of the lights on in the room and it has a really good pic. Upscales nicely. . Keystone adjustments are wonky. I'd like to have control over the individual corners, but as far as i know that is not an option. So although it isn't rocket science to adjust the picture, it can be frustrating if you are obsessive. . I am projecting on a 100" screen and the projector is mounted on the ceiling in front of the screen. The projector is about 10 feet from the screen. . So for $699 i think it's a great deal. I guess i'll follow up in a few years to comment on its durability.

. Susana, Bourgogne

I selected the epson hc2150 3lcd projector for its long throw distance. I have a 110" screen at about 15 feet to the projector, so the epson had an advantage here over the benq 2050a. So far i have been impressed with picture quality and reasonable black levels ( i use eco mode with auto iris in a dark room). As with any home theater equipment you can always "pay a little more" for the next model up, but at seven benjamins, the hc2150 is a top contender for 1080p setups that have mostly dark viewing conditions.

G. Glenda, South Carolina says

Don't use the built in sound with my system, but the image clarity and brightness works very well in our home theater/library room. Replaced a 2008 era 720p/1080i projector that wasn't bright enough to watch movies with the room lights on. No problem at all with this projector. The lens shift capability and image adjustment features of this projector made set up a quick process.

E. Guest, Nottinghamshire

We have only had the projector a short time, so i will update the review as time goes on. . First impressions: great! we got it for a classroom, works great. The wireless display options are easy to use, either as a screen mirror for your phone, or a wireless display for a laptop, but be warned: the options when using an apple product are much more limited, since this is a miracast projector, though i image you could get an airdisplay adapter. I recommend dropping the sharpness to 0 when using a computer or phone, seems to get rid of the aliasing. Set up was easy, it does everything we need. The image is bright and clear and the colors are really good for a projector in this price range.

J. Audrey, Wyoming says

3 years ago i got an epson projector that was double the price of this and was so blown away by it, that i wrote an extremely extensive review of not only the projector but also the technology that it incorporated, along with what to expect from 3d which the 3600e amazingly delivered. Many of the features and quality of that 3600e are included in this 2150. So, if you have the desire to read that in depth review of the big brother to this 2150, you can enlighten yourself about the overall technology that epson incorporates into their home theater projectors. The 2150 shares many identical features and controls as the 3600e (whose retail price in 2014 was around $2, 100). If online store's review filters don't purge embedded url links, then you can go to my original online store review with this link to find out more, many of whose features apply to the 2150. . If the link is purged by online store, break it up in the following manner so that online store's filters don't recognize it as a "hot link". Start with https:// and without any spaces after the dual forward slashes, enter maybe that will work. Anyway. . Before proceeding, i feel a responsibility to disclose that the 2150 was offered to me by online store within their vine program, in exchange for an unbiased review (maybe due to the extensiveness of my earlier review of the 3600). I have reviewed hundreds of products on online store and i have no qualms about trashing products that do not deserve to be in existence (with my reviews ranging from 1 star to 5 stars). I was invited to join the vine program when online store noticed the number and quality of my reviews over many years, with my reviews receiving over 80% "thumbs up" from thousands of online store shoppers, who have read them. Since then, as a vine reviewer, i have been merciless in some of my reviews because products offered were just plain junk, while others have been surprisingly spectacular, such as this one. I am convinced that one thing which has propelled online store's success as a retailer, is its review features. And i feel it is important to protect the integrity of online store's unbiased reviews, written by consumers who have actually experienced a product, to share its strengths or weaknesses, so that other consumers can have confidence in their buying choices. . When online store offered me the 2150 i was very excited to say the least, but at the same time, somewhat skeptical that it would be a step down in viewing experience. But, with the 2150, you will enter into a viewing experience which rises to the level of high end movie theater quality. After having been spoiled by the stunning picture quality and monster image size of the 3600e, i had always wanted to have a 2nd projector that was as good as the 3600 but did not feel i could justify spending at that level. I have often wished that i could enjoy the "movie theater" experience outdoors for sporting events or movies on the patio when the weather was nice. Which i could do with the 3600e but did not want to move it after i had set it up in my home theater, projected onto a wall, yielding a 120" screen, linked to my component sound system which rivals thx, in a smaller listening environment. So, having "dialed in" the 3600e to perfection, i decided it would be too much of a hassle to move it off of the suspended platform which i had created, hanging from my home theater ceiling. I had used 4 short sections of swag chain to suspend four corners of a 1/2" thick piece of solid maple (18" x 18"), to rest my the 3600e upon, allowing me more flexibility to position and move the projector around on this shelf, for best focus/throw distance/keystone adjustment flexibility, etc. I did not want to use a typical ceiling mount bracket which requires large bolts attached to the ceiling. Thus, suspending it in this manner, allowed me to use only 4 very small eyehooks screwed into ceiling studs (thus no big holes in the ceiling if i ever removed it). So, the movie theater experience had to stay in my viewing room only. . First blush comparison between the two:. So, when i got the 2150, i took it into my viewing room and fired it up, using a blu ray disc, projected onto the same painted screen used for my 3600e. I then switched back and forth between the two projectors, expecting to see a difference in picture quality, expecting the 3600e to be much better, based on it being a lot more expensive. Wrong. What a surprise and delight for me. See the attached picture of a kc chiefs "point after" ball snap. The color saturation on the 2150 is amazing (equal to the 3600e). . Wireless linking:. The main thing that the 3600e has over the 2150 is that it has its own rf wireless transmitter to which i run my output sources with hdmi cables (from my direct tv box and my sony 3d blu ray player). My sony also has built in wifi for streaming netflix, online store prime and many other sources, which then transmit to the 3600e through its hdmi linked wireless transmitter. The 2150 differs in that it utilizes miracast to stream from android devices or windows laptops, or you can use its mhl connectivity to utilize things like the roku stick. Personally i will simply dedicate a new 3d blu ray player hard wired with hdmi to the 2150. And when i want to use it outside, for sports, i will simply take one of my direct tv wireless mini genies outdoors and hook it up with hdmi to the projector, which is a breeze to move around and setup quickly. . Portability and image size:. The 2150 is extremely lightweight and portable at only 7 pounds, as well as being very compact. So it is a snap to move around. And it is highly flexible insofar as image throw and projector placement in relation to the screen. The lens is capable of 1. 60:1 zoom. You can position the projector anywhere from 5' away from the screen, all the way up to 29' away, yielding image sizes that can range from 30" diagonal all the way up to 300" diagonal (25 feet). We're talking drive in movie theater sized experience here, if you had a screen that size. Know that zoom and focus are adjusted only manually with slider bars above the lens on the projector. . Outdoors viewing:. For outside viewing, based on lots of research, i am going to purchase an "elite screens yard master 2" with 120" diagonal screen size for outdoors viewing, for under 200 bucks. The yard master can free stand or you can remove the legs and easily suspend it on a wall. It is very light weight and portable so i will also use this as my projection screen for the 2150 indoors as well as outdoors. As far as projection screens go, "elite" is fairly highly regarded in the industry, in other words, not a cheap gimmick device. . Image positioning adjustments:. One feature that epson added to the 2150 (as an upgrade from their very popular 2045), is vertical lens shift, allowing you to set up your projector (when centered horizontally on your projection surface), and being able to move the projected image up or down by 60%, in order to compensate for how high or low your projector is placed vertically, in relation to the center of your projection screen. Thus you can mount the projector low, such as on a table, or high, suspended from the ceiling and then with the lens shift control, you simply move the projected image up or down, along with the lens zoom control, until it is fills your desired viewing surface. You have to pretty much center the 2150 horizontally in relation to the center of your screen surface, since the 2150 does not have a horizontal shift control, unlike my more expensive 3600e, which does have that. Not a real biggie since most users will have no problem centering their projector on the screen, horizontally. . Keystone adjustment:. Of course, like any projector these days, the 2150 does have both horizontal and vertical keystone adjustments which allow you to "square up" the projected image to fill your screen from side to side and top to bottom, so that it is a perfect rectangle. The 2150 has a control feature called "auto keystone" which does a pretty good job of doing that automatically, however, i found it to be less than perfect, so i used it to get "almost there" and then went into manual mode to tweak it to my satisfaction. . Screen quality is absolutely critical. The projected image is only as good as the quality of the screen being used, and a good projection screen can easily exceed the cost of this projector. The screen is a weak link in your level of viewing satisfaction since the screen surface determines how "well and true" the image from the projector is reflected back into your eyes. When i got the 3600e i researched extensively, how i could get the most out of that projector without spending up to 2, 000 bucks on a screen, which was necessary to do it justice. One highly regarded screen in the a/v industry, is the studiotek 100, which is very expensive. But you can go the diy route by preparing a surface for paint and painting your wall to get the same results as the very expensive projection screens (explained further, below). . Painting your own screen is a very dicey situation, since paints vary dramatically between "white" color tones and in sheen and texture for proper reflectivity. So the screen can easily downgrade the intended results of an excellent projector such as the 2150. It is not as simple as just painting a wall white. The screen color, texture, finish, and image "gain" can easily affect image quality. So, if you want to read an in depth article on how to get the optimum painted screen result, go to a website called "projectorcentral dot com" and keyword search on their site for the article called painting the perfect screen for 100 bucks . This website resource of projector system experts tested many different brands of paint with different shades of white in different sheens, to try to match the two thousand dollar screen result inexpensively, by painting their own screen. Bottom line is that they used a high end hd projector to throw an image onto a wall that split the image between a studiotek screen and a painted wall surface, to see if they could detect any difference in the quality between the two in a split screen image. After painting the wall with many different paints, yielding unsatisfactory results, they stumbled upon one which created a seamless transition from the studiotek screen to the painted wall surface. The paint they used to exactly match the studiotek screen image was sherwin williams proclassic smooth enamel satin finish, untinted, which sells for 20 to 24 bucks a quart (more than enough to paint a projection surface), using a very tight knap roller or better yet a sponge roller. I used this paint on my home theater wall with spectacular results. . Excellent picture quality needs deep color saturation:. Picture quality has to include not only high definition and resolution. It has to deliver good color saturation along with brightness of picture. This is where epson really shines (no pun intended). Over the last 3 years, i have hosted many "party" events involving college basketball, college football and some nfl showings. All of my guests are absolutely amazed at the picture quality. Many saying that it is every bit as good as their large high definition flat screen displays. The epson 2150 absolutely delivers the same stunning picture (again, see attached) as my 3600e. When buying a home theater projector (or one to be used for business presentations outside of the home), you need to be very aware of a specification that many competitors fail to list. And that is color lumens. All of the epson projectors not only deliver 2500+ in brightness lumens but they also deliver the same level (2500+) in color lumens. Many competitors might boast 2500-3000 lumens of brightness, but they don't want to list the color lumens because they are often only about 1/3 to 1/2 that of the brightness lumens. What does that mean ? basically a washed out picture which i compare to diluting the density of paint. With lens brightness being the water in that analogy. Too much water without the same density of pigments, dilutes the saturation of the color and pales it out to pastels. And that is the main reason that epson delivers such a stunning on screen image. They pump up the color saturation to equal the brightness. So color lumens matter. They also offer a contrast ratio of 60, 000:1 which is very acceptable. The intensity of the projected image is pretty impressive in my opinion. It allows for a fairly high quality image in a brightly lit room, such as a conference room in which one might be giving a business presentation. I watched it with my viewing room blinds open in the daytime (without direct sunlight on the screen) and found it to be entirely adequate for casual viewing. However, in reality, i want this thing to explode with its dynamic picture, in a darkened room, which it is eminently capable of delivering. . Advanced picture quality controls:. If you are a real tech nerd who wants to really dig deep into image adjustments, the 2150 incorporates the same highly sophisticated digital control adjustments as the more expensive 3600e. There is no limit to what you can do with individual adjustments in the gamma spectrum of rgb. Too sophisticated or complicated to explain here. Just know that if you have the desire to dial this thing into personal preferences which go way beyond brightness, contrast, tint, skin tone settings, etc, that you have all the tools needed to fine tune, beyond what 99% of us are more than happy with. . Replacement bulb cost:. When i first got the 3600e, i checked the cost of bulb replacement, knowing that around 3500 to 5000 hours of lamp life, i might be faced with replacing the bulb which deteriorates over time. Although, that stated lamp life is generally meant to indicate that is when you might start seeing a lowering of brightness intensity and thus quality of picture. It does not mean that it will actually burn out, to no image at all. In addition, bulb life depends upon what setting you use on the projector. You can go full intensity for the brightest picture which yields a shorter bulb life or you can go in "eco" mode which is slightly less bright and which just about doubles bulb life. The bulb life on this 2150 projector is 4, 000 hours at full power and 7, 500 in "eco" mode. For me, i want the whole experience so i run full power. Back in 2014 when i got the 3600e, i checked the cost for a replacement bulb and it was around 150 bucks, which today has gone down to around 100 bucks. Not too bad, to rejuvenate the image, in the future, when needed. I am currently at around 800 hours on the 3600e and notice absolutely no difference in image quality from the first day i fired it up. The good news with the 2150 is that replacement bulbs are only 49 bucks, which likewise may come down in price by the time you would have to replace it, several years down the road. Knowing how technology changes and how things tend to get discontinued unexpectedly, i recommend having a replacement bulb or two on hand, now, to insure you can always enjoy your projector in years to come. . Sound quality:. The 2150 has a single 10w speaker that fires out of the back at surprisingly low volume. This is the only weak point in this projector. It is pretty much worthless for listening to anything unless you are sitting close to and immediately behind the projector. I turned it up to full volume and sat on a sofa about 6 feet in front of the projector and could barely hear it. But that is of absolutely no concern to me, because i always use an external sound system linked to any tv or projector that i have, since most tv brands have dismal speakers in them anyway, which all fire to the back, to bounce sound off of a wall (basically muted and sucks big time). I also found that with my 3600e, when supplementing the sound through a very expensive sound system, that i could never get the sound from the projector to sync with my home audio system. I even used the sync advance or retard controls on the projector to try to sync the projector sound to my home system, but could never get rid of the "echo" effect, so i just never turn the sound on the 3600e, because there is no need to. Knowing that, i suspect the same will be true of the 2150, however i did not bother to test that. . Video modes and aspect ratio:. There are many options for whichever video source you are using, for the projector to handle it. They are. 720p, 1080i, 1080p/60, 1080p/24, 1080p/50, 480p, 480i. And the aspect ratio is very flexible as well. It can handle all of the common formatting used by both cable and movies, such as 16:9, 2:35:1, and 4:3, etc. The resolution is full hd at 1920 x 1080. . Dlp vs 3 chip lcd:. There are 2 different projector technologies for putting color on a screen. Basically all tv flat screens and projectors fire 3 colors onto a screen to create the millions of hues of colors etc. Those are rgb (red, green, blue). These colors scan across the screen in rapid succession to create a seamless image to the eye. In projectors, there are two competing technologies. Dlp and lcd. Epson uses 3 separate "color guns" to fire the 3 individual rgb colors, simultaneously onto the screen, as opposed to single chip dlp hd projectors, which produce color, by firing only one primary color at a time in rapid succession, instead of all 3 at the same time, so light areas on the screen can break up into subtle red/green/blue rainbows which can be noticed when you shift your eye or when objects move quickly on screen. This rainbow effect does not occur on 3 chip lcd projectors such as this epson. In all honesty i can't attest to what the dlp projectors are really like, since i have not viewed any, knowing they were dlp in retail stores. But i do know that the image from the epson is flawless. Now, there is one point that needs to be addressed regarding lcd vs dlp, in which experts will attest to the fact the dlp projectors can produce a truer "black", on screen, which insures that dark areas of a picture are true black and not a dark gray. This is related to contrast ratio, to achieve true blacks. So i will concede to experts who measure things like that with sophisticated calibration and measuring tools. Now, does that in anyway diminish the quality of the picture on the 2150 ? absolutely not. To the casual viewer the on screen image is rich with color and intensity, which leaves one saying, "wow". . If 3d is important to you:. When i first received the 3600e, back in 2014, i could not wait to try a 3d movie. So i ran out and bought "gravity", with sandra bullock and george clooney, having seen it in a movie theater in 3d. The special effects in that movie make 3d come alive, like no other 3d movie. Absolutely mind blowing in 3d. However watching it on an epson 3d projector, took it to a level, well above what movie theaters can deliver. And that is mainly due to the difference in technology related to passive 3d glasses handed out in movie theaters, which are incapable of delivering a true hd image, versus the active 3d technology used by epson which is definitely full hd at 1920 x 1080. The 3d glasses from epson are about 100 bucks each and they are not included with the 2150, so you have to go online to obtain them. Bummer, right? well, not after i did my research on the 3600e when i first got it, which included 2 pair of the epson active 3d glasses. There is a more affordable option, explained next. . Making 3d affordable:. Epson uses a different technology than that used in movie theaters. Their "active" 3d glasses are powered and they recharge with a usb cord, and are good for about 40 hours on a charge. Epson uses this more expensive active 3d glasses technology, which is explained below. Passive 3d glasses (like those handed out in movie theaters) have to be extremely inexpensive compared to active, and must be used with a projection system that is also passive and the 2 technologies are not cross compatible. In spite of the high cost of the epson glasses, i discovered through online store reviews that you can buy samsung active 3d glasses, which are compatible with this epson, at a fraction of the cost of the epson glasses. The model is the samsung ssg 5150gb for around 16 bucks a pair. The main difference is that the samsung glasses are not rechargeable. Instead they use a single (common) cr1620 battery which will not last as long as the rechargeable, and since the battery has to be replaced when it dies, you need to keep spares on hand. But for the huge price difference for the glasses, i don't mind purchasing inexpensive batteries. The pros and cons for active vs passive are listed below. . How do active glasses work:. Powered, "active" glasses have right and left eye lens shutters which alternately open and close rapidly enough that your eye does not detect it. Screen refresh rates and frame rates can have an impact on the viewing experience, depending upon the specs for a specific flat screen or projector brand. The image delivered to the right eye is different (horizontally shifted) from that to the left eye, but both simultaneous screen images are in full hd screen resolution, enabling the active to deliver a true 1080p high def image (1920 x 1080 pixels) to each eye, for a superior 3d experience. If you view the 3d image on screen without the glasses on, it is a blurred "ghost" image. And, due to the fact that the glasses are shuttering , there are some who claim that it cuts down slightly on the brightness of the on screen image (a minor negative consideration, since this projector has brilliant intensity to begin with). So "active" provides a more seamless and realistic 3d experience. Another consideration regarding active 3d glasses, is that they are a bit heavier than passive glasses, so comfort in wearing them may be an issue (however, not for me or any of my viewing guests). They will fit over prescription eye glasses unless you have unusually large prescription glass frames. Another specification to be aware of is that earlier versions of active 3d glasses (from various manufacturers) used ir (infrared) to transmit to the glasses, which required line of site between the base unit and the glasses. But now, most have changed to rf (radio frequency), which does not require line of site, which is a big improvement. Be aware that the 2 are incompatible. So, with this projector you want the rf version of active 3d. . Why "passive" glasses technology is inferior:. It uses polarized lenses to differentiate what the left eye sees, versus what the right eye sees (you're familiar with the cheap movie theater cardboard glasses with one green lens and one red lens). And the way passive works, for instance, is that 3d on televisions use filters which polarize the image, firing alternating lines of pixels onto the screen. The filter delivers the odd number of lines of pixels on the screen, which are visible to only the left eye, and the even number of lines on the screen, visible to only the right eye. So, in actuality, each individual eye is only seeing 1920 x 540 pixels on the screen (not 1080 hi def), since half of the pixels (alternating lines) are being hidden (polarized) from the opposing eye, to create the horizontal shift differentiation, which is needed to create the 3d experience. Although, without 3d glasses, the "passive" 3d image looks perfectly normal on the screen, and is in full hd since you are seeing both the odd and even lines of pixels at the same time. However, with passive 3d viewing, if your screen is too large for the viewing area or you are sitting too close to the screen, without glasses on, you will probably notice the interlace lines between the alternating rows of pixels. Arguably, passive glasses are claimed to deliver a brighter image, since there are no shutters opening and closing, as there are on active glasses. But again, the brightness intensity of the 2150 easily compensates for this, to deliver an entirely satisfactory 3d viewing experience, if you want to watch 3d. . Bottom line:. The 2150 absolutely rocks at this price point. Don't hesitate for one minute to take the plunge with this projector. I know, from 3 years of enjoyment of its big brother, the 3600e, that this projector is a steal at half the price of what i have been enjoying with comparable image quality. I have had absolutely no disappointments or equipment failure or feature lapses with the 3600e and expect the same from the 2150. Not a mystery that epson dominates the market in home use and business use projectors. On a side note, i am in the trade show exhibit business, with my major national clients (cessna aircraft, the coleman company, and many more) who run video in their exhibit booths at major national trade shows. Almost without exception, they all run epson projectors to tell their story. So i am a believer. You can be too, after owning one.

Obviously the bulb is very bright to produce such a high quality/high contrast picture, so there is expected to be some heat generated. Actually, a lot of heat, be aware of this! the fan noise is not noticable even while sitting under/next to the projector. The internal 10watt speaker does a very nice job and i use it as the singular sound source most of the time.

This is my first projector and we have 120" screen being powered by it and a ps4. Its beautiful and looks better than my 60" samsung tv. I did not use the speakers on the projector so i cant speak to that. It was easy to install and dial in and looks fantastic.

I just bought a house with a theater room and needed a projector. I had great expectations and this projector did not disappoint! i have it throwing 100 inches of hd awesomeness, sourcing it with a roku and ps4 pro. The picture looks great! i'm giving the speaker a 3 which may or may not be fair since i am not sure what to expect from it. But for my application it's useless.

This works very well. . The fan is a little loud. I don't know why companies don't just use larger, quieter fans. . I originally received one with a problem in the lens, but it was replaced.

Amazing picture quality for the price. When paired with a 1. 1 gain screen this projector performs well in a room that gets direct sun light. Picture quality is very good. In a dark room the 60, 000/1 contrast ratio really helps darken the blackest bits of the image. For the price and quality you can't touch a 75" or larger tv. . Fan is rather quite, but when the brightness is about 75% the noise can be noticed.

. Irene, Bradford

Great price, great picture, surprisingly bright even in daylight. . I purchased this for a simple home theater setup and am really happy with the purchase. I can see why the reviews are strong for this projector. . Led was important to me as i was afraid of the "rainbow effect" and this picture is bright, clear, and looks great on my 120" screen. . I used the mirrorcast but it didn't format the picture correctly. I am going to hook it up to roku for smart features, i'm not sure i would rely on the built in wifi capabilities. . I took off one star because of the fan noise. It's not too noticable when the movie is going but when there is no sound you definitely hear it. . Overall very happy with the picture for the price.

This is my second projector, with my 1st being a more expensive epson 8100, which after 10 years finally stopped working. This is a good projector for the money. It's very bright and resolution is very crisp. I bought this model largely because of my previous experience with epson and the $49 replacement lamps, which are over $200 on most other models. Compared to the more expensive model i had before, this one doesn't have the greatest setup features. The zoom is only 1. 6 which limits the distances where the projector can be placed. Second, the unit only has vertical lens shift, which limits where you can mount it, i will need to move my mount slightly to account for the lack of zoom and horizontal lens shift, but considering the cost that's ok. What you also don't get is fine quality focus or lens that you would on +$1000 units. I found the unit hard to focus to a very fine level due to the focus control's imprecision. Also i noticed that focus degrades as you move from center. Noticeable on the test pattern, less so on content. The black level on this projector is good but not great, totally watchable but on dark scenes i wished for deeper blacks. Unfortunately, you'll need to spend closer to $2000 if you crave inky blacks. This projector has a 2 year warranty which is great at this price, and having used it on my previous epson, i'll tell you their service is excellent, you'll have a replacement within a day should you need one. I found the build quality on this unit good for the price point. It's very light so mounting it is easy. . Overall, i'm pleased, a really nice projector. It's bright enough to overcome some ambient light in a room to watch football and still has the quality to turn down the lights and provide an excellent picture on movie night.

This is my first real projector so i don't have anything significant to compare it to. I was torn between this and the benq ht2050, but ultimately went with this because i knew i was going to use it sometimes during the day and not just at night in complete darkness, plus i didn't want to take the chance with the "rainbow" effects. Right now i'm just projecting onto a plain white wall, but have a 120" fixed frame projector screen on order, but even watching a movie directly on a wall, i am more than satisfied. The picture is extremely sharp and clear and the color is fairly accurate, although that's just eyeballing it, no testing equipment. One of the pics is in our apartment living room at 11. 5 ft from the wall projecting a roughly 110 inch screen. All the walls are white so when there's a bright scene on the screen, the light coming off of it is enough to wash out the colors a bit, as if i had turned on a light in the room, that's just how bright the picture is (in "cinema" mode). I'm hoping a projector screen will make a good bit of difference. The other pics above my computer screen are roughly 80" diagonal. When i get house, i'll have more control over the colors in the room. . Setup was very easy. I didn't even look at any instructions, just took it out of the box, connected my laptop via hdmi, plugged in the power cord and i was up and running. The vertical shift was very helpful as was the horizontal keystone. You really only have to place the projector where you want it and make the adjustments on the projector to get a nice looking picture. I would suggest using the least amount of keystone necessary though, i did notice that when you adjust the focus, most of the screen is perfectly sharp, but in the extreme lower corners, the picture is just a tad out of focus. When you adjust the focus to make the lower corners sharp, the rest of the picture is a tad out of focus. Not noticeable when you're watching something though. I'm just nitpicking i guess. . The fan is pretty quiet in eco mode, can't even hear it unless you put your ear up to it, but when changed to "normal" mode, it is noticeably louder, but not really a deal breaker. It also blows some pretty hot air out the vent, but i've ran it for about 5 hours continuously and it didn't shut off. It will definitely heat up a small room. There is a little bit of screen tearing when there is fast moving scenes happening, which is kind of annoying, but i think it may be a combination of some of my settings and the fact i've been just watching downloaded movies. I plan to get a blu ray player later on down the road for the best possible picture and to try out the 3d functionality. This projector didn't come with 3d glasses but i also have a couple pairs on order. Playing games on this was a pretty cool experience. I'm not a big gamer, but i played a few pc games on it and inputs from my controller were pretty instant on screen. . I was worried about the contrast also. I wanted the blacks to actually be black. I already knew i wasn't going to get it when i bought this particular projector, but i'm still happy with it. In a dark scene, the blacks are fairly dark that you don't even think about it, but when there's a bright scene like outside during the day, the blacks appear very washed out and grey. Again, i'm thinking using an actual projector screen and darker colored walls will improve the overall contrast significantly. I would have liked to test out the benq ht2050 first because i've read that dlp projectors have much better contrast, but it's best use is in very dark, light controlled rooms which limits its versatility. . Even with the flaws noted above, i still think this was an excellent purchase. My wife didn't even know she wanted a projector until we watched our first movie with it. I've only had it for a couple weeks, but we must have watched almost 10 movies already. Watching movies during the day is still bearable with this projector, but it's true potential really shows at night when all the lights are off, beautiful colors and very sharp picture. I'll be using this projector for some time to come, especially with the low cost of a new lamp, but when it comes time to replace it, i will probably shell out for a 4k model. . One more thing. The built in speaker is not so great, as other reviewers have noted. I've been using a bluetooth speaker for sound until i can get my surround sound speakers back, which is fine for the time being. The battery in it died before the movie was finished so i had to switch to the on-board speaker. It gets somewhat loud but no lower frequencies at all, but at least i was able to finish my movie. Built-in speakers was not even a factor in my decision to buy this projector. Along with the picture quality, sound is half the theater experience. Buy good speakers to go along with the projector. . I would definitely recommend the epson home cinema 2150 to anyone looking to buy a home theater projector to enjoy movie nights with the family. I don't know why i waited so long to buy one.

Y. Kellie, Bremen says

I was skeptical about purchasing a projector since i didnt know much about them and was thinking about the projectors that were used when i was in grade school. Assuming the picture wouldn't be that clear or bright - this projector was a huge shock. I painted my wall an off-white color and projected right against the bare wall and the picture is incredible. It's like having a 125' flat screen and really provides that theater feel i was hoping for. It's not too noisey but i definitely recommend getting a soundbar. I use online store fire stick with this and it works perfectly.

. Melissa, Herefordshire

Great picture quality even with the windows open. The sound coming directly from the projector is not the best. I would recommend an external speaker system. . I bought this project for use in my basement. But seeing the quality of the image, i'm going to take this to my college homecoming game to play games and watch the game on. The set up was easy and the provided remote also control the online store fire stick! . . I am truly pleased with this product and i can't wait to have movie and game nights

. Lawrence, Missouri says

Great projector. I am not a professional at analyzing video and audio quality. However, i do enjoy and thoroughly research my technology. I currently have this projected on my wall and it is phenomenal. The colors are bright, the blacks are black. It is loud on normal mode, but i cannot notice the fan on eco mode. The ability to have automatic vertical and horizontal keystone is very helpful. If you are looking for a projector in this price point, you cannot beat this projector. Bonus: replacement bulbs are relatively cheap!

Awesome projector, replaced a cheap led non- hd one and it's a night and day difference. Beautiful colors, sharp, clear image and very bright even on eco mode. Fan is unobtrusive in eco mode, a bit noisy in other modes but it is mounted on the ceiling right above my head so that makes it more noticeable. Very happy with my choice!

The projector is great once you get it set up. The problem is that it's not very intuitive. The auto adjustment on the picture is not very good, so you will likely have to do it manually. The nice thing is that you can adjust each corner independently, but it takes a long while to get it right. Well worth the money though for a full room projector experience. We have it on the living room wall doing 159" screen.

Disadvantage and Critical reviews

This projector has excellent picture for the money. I was extremely pleased while it worked. Unfortunately it died after only a week of use.

The projector in itself is great. We bought it during the thanksgiving sale and it worked great. However, one day it just wouldn't turn on. No damage or anything, just wont turn on. Now, we have a projector that wont work, online store wont replace because the return window is expired. I have been asked to reach out to the manufacturer for a replacement.

You must be reading this review to know whether to buy this projector or not. You should know from whom this review is coming from. So you can decide better. This review is for budget projector for full hd movies under 800 usd. . -i am someone (and this review is for) who is videoholic, watches movies 80% of the time, rest is youtube/tv shows/ps4. -i don't like any movie which is less than 1080p. Picture and audio quality must be on top for me to watch any movie. -i have owned benq ht1075 (big brother of w1070 and younger to ht2050a), so when it died i was looking for new projector. -i projected epson on the off-white wall 140 inches screen from 14 feet (same as with benq). -i was impressed and more than happy with benq (except it needed bulb replacement after couple of years and it costs much). . I had shortlisted benq ht2050, 2550 (4k) and epson 2150. And finally decided and bought epson 2150. . Why would someone very happy with benq, buy epson instead of another new model of benq? . -wanted to experience something different. -epson have placed this projector under home cinema category, hence i assumed its made mainly for movies. -i think epson is far bigger brand than benq. -online store positive reviews and some site like pc mag amateurishly saying its great. -better 3d quality. 3d's basic issue is darkness, so i agreed to the reviews that said it has better 3d due to higher lumens. - low cost bulb and more bulb life compared to benq. - lumens not only for white, impressively it has color lumens. - all the bells and whistle like frame interpolation and many more. . My experience:. Epson 2150 have every feature you dream for except picture quality. Picture that is washed out images. However, i wanted to keep this projector for all the great features it have, we (family) tried to like it, but even my 11 yr old boy said why it is not sharp as our previous projector. His fortnite (ps4 game) also was not as good benq. You feel like you are watching movie on hbo or any tv channel not in theater. 3d was again disappointment (i bought and used 3active 3d glasses for this projector). Whereas my wife said this projector is ok (because she doesn't bother for quality, she is more into tv shows). . So if you into movies and would want theater like picture quality and sharpness avoid this and go for dlp, if you are more into tv shows, sports. This is great projector. . Why 3 stars out of 5. +3 for all the great features it have, like great color, good night scenes, features. -1. 5 epson misleading customers by using terms as home cinema, 60000:1 contrast ratio etc. -0. 5 shipping: mine was international shipping and shipping was good but return had issues that i could not return. When i processed return, the return label had cost 800 usd whereas i bought it for 699 usd. And for any items value 800 and more have to pay much extra (unlucky me), so i could not return. Fortunately i was able to sell it with facing 200 usd loss. . I have learned higher lumens doesn't mean better sharpness / picture quality, its just more brighter. On the contrary, its the drawback to have higher lumens for movies. Lcd technology must have limits and to compensate that all the features have been provided. I know i will have some cons while buying dlp projector like bulb cost, light leaking etc but i cant compromise on not having theater at home and just having a 140 inch tv. . Bottom line: if you are looking for budget projector for movies and if you are first time projector buyer or experienced one, note that epson 2150 is not home cinema projector as the name suggest, it just a bigger tv in your room, giving washed out pictures thou colors are great in this projector, think how much you will watch blu rays. If its more than 50%, don't buy this, if its less than 50% this is a great projector. . Also i don't find any difference in benq and epson in ambient light, both gets washed out similarly. I dont know what so much fuss about ambient light viewing with epson. . I have ordered benq ht2050a and it will be arriving soon. I will write review on that too. . Please leave comments if you have any query.

Original unit failed (giving lamp errors) within one month of purchase. Online store replaced like for like, and the replacement unit failed within a month, same error. Reseating the lamp & cover did not resolve in either case. . Unit is junk. Avoid it.

O. Nancy, Idaho says

When it works the pictures are great. It seems to have a number of technical issues like it won't shut off sometimes without unplugging the unit. I would not purchase this again. So far the help from epson has been really horrible.

Was excited to see the much hyped picture quality, and as a bargain hunter, it took a nudging of will power to push me over to making this purchase. But judging by extensive reviews and research - i knew it would be worth the wait. . As it arrived i clenched in anticipation for the night of cinematic projection greatness that was going to bookend my rough week. . Of course, the right movie choice was paramount. So i booted up the moody, hyper violent, and timeless james cameron classic aliens and was met with a horror beyond the fictional reality of a xenomorph. . I mean it was horror beyond looking into the abyss of the embrace of osiris. Horror far beyond that of any civilized mind's comprehension. . In the midst of wonderfully contrasty, almost inky blacks (i mean nothing compared to the hdr lg set in my bedroom, but far better than my previous projector, ahem. ) there lurked a beast who's name i tremble to speak in this review paragraph. Searing open my brain stem through pure terror at the flaw that i was witnessing my new beloved projector betray unto me. . A dead pixel, out of the box. Screaming hot pink. Right, smack dab in the middle of sigourney weaver's moist forehead. (picture shows the hot pink spot, clear as day. Though it's at some random time in the film when i just couldn't stand it any more and needed to take some meaningless action like taking a picture to make me feel vindicated. ). . Seriously though. Extreme 1st world problem. But when i pay for quality, i expect quality. . Hoping that an exchange or return for another model will fix this issue.

Box arrived damaged and was inside of a shipping box about 2 times the size of the box the projector was packaged in. Called online store on this matter and they offered a small discount due to shipping issues. . Anyways, image quality is great, and options within projector is fantastic. Also turning off image processing allows for a low latency gaming experience. . However, the speaker on it sounds distorted. I ve tried multiple setups and have had no success getting a good sound out of it. I understand it s a dinky speaker to begin with but there s clearly something wrong with it. I don t intend on using it much anyways. . I did contact online store in regards to this issue and was told to either return the item or contact manufacturer but could not help me with defective discount i n any other way. I don t feel like removing it from my cieling as it took me nearly 6 hours to setup i am a little upset about this experience i had with online store. But not every customer service experience is a wonderful experience. . It would be nice to have some consideration in this scenario. Because when one purchase a $700+ item you expect something that works perfectly and arrives in decent shape. I m just getting tired of stuff that doesn t work right. Idk if qc has gone downhill or online store cs team just doesn t get it. Either way, i have a meh feeling about this high dollar purchase.

In september of 2017 i purchased my first epson 2150 home projector. That projectors to work. Being under warrant, the factory replaced it. Then, that replacement also failed. Shortly after receiving and installing the second replacement projector, it s lamp also failed. Now on october 15th 2018, they are shipping my fourth unit. All three had bulbs that failed to light up after a minimum of five to ten hours service. Epson has confirmed i have received defective units an offers there apologies. I asked to pay extra to upgrade, but was told it was not an option. They will continue to replace them until that model is discontinued. I hope my fourth unit is better than the first three.

The picture is pretty clear and the projector worked great for the first 3 or 4 months. Then one day the picture went totally dark and in the lower left corner displayed a message the it couldn't find a source. I followed all of the trouble shooting suggestions in the user manual (turned the projector off and on, and switched the hdmi inputs several times and eventually the picture reappeared. Since then, this problem has repeated almost daily, and some days i can't get the picture to come back at all.

Did my research here on online store, but ended up buying from a big box retailer. I'm generally satisfied with the image quality but wanted to post this review regarding wireless connectivity with apple devices, specifically for streaming applications. Long story short, if you primarily intend to use this device to project streaming video over wifi, and you don't have a miracast-compatible device (apple does not support miracast), you will need some kind of dongle or ancillary wifi streaming device with an hdmi output such as a chromecast, roku, or apple tv. The built-in wlan adapter on the epson 2150 is really only good for supporting screen-casting of mostly static content (think powerpoint presentations, slide shows, etc. ). It will not work satisfactorily for video. Also, even for these somewhat limited applications, you will need to install epson's client application on any device you want to project from. This client app gets the job done, but its interaction with the network configuration settings on the projector itself isn't very clear and digging it out of epson's online documentation (only a printed quick-start guide is provided with the projector - for a full manual you're directed to the online version, which you have to search to find - no url is given) is a bit of a chore, to say the least. Furthermore, the wlan adapter only supports the 2. 5ghz band, which in my rf-noisy neighborhood is prone to interference and annoying dropouts. Was very disappointed in this aspect of the unit - this is the kind of thing that in 2017 should take moments to setup and configure, but unfortunately that wasn't my experience at all. So, bottom line: great image quality, kinda crappy connectivity for apple devices, poor documentation, needlessly cumbersome network setup/configuration.

Screen mirroring is a joke. Doesnt work 80 percent of the time and the split screen feature doesnt work either

The unit i got did not sound good. It was pretty weak. Not very impressed with picture quality

We bought this projector in november 2017 to use it for the holiday season. Yesterday , november 24th we hosted a party for our family in our newly setup theatre and this projector never started. It was a huge disappointment and embarrassment ! it worked fine when we set it up at the first place but i am sure its a faulty piece and unfortunately we happened to buy it. I am a big online store fan but this time it was really really disappointed. We are processing the return with online store as i write this review. Thankfully it appears they will return it .

I didn't purchase this from online store but from another online retailer. After 5 days of owning the product it stopped working. I called epson tech support and they diagnosed it as a lamp failure. They are sending me a new lamp, which will arrive in 2-5 days. Hopefully that is all that is wrong and the new lamp will fix the issue. Disappointing that epson couldn't at least overnight me a new lamp.

Q. Rochelle, South Gloucestershire says

Lamp broke down at 700 hours. Everything else looks good until now.
