Logitech Harmony Smart Control – Black (915 000194) 128

Review for harmony smart control -

Price was $98.99 - $218.00. Logitech has finally got it all together with this product. I have been using harmony remotes since they were first introduced and this is my fourth one and the best to date. Granted it is not plug and play and for the uninitiated the learning curve on how the software wants you to think in order to program it can be steep for the non-technical. I wouldn't recommend any harmony remote for an elderly relative but most people can set it up easily enough if you can follow directions. Although it says you can do this through your smart phone, i would recommend you do it using your desktop for the initial setup. The newest iteration of myharmony software is so much easier to use if you take the time to identify all of your equipment prior to starting out. You will need manufacturer and model numbers for every device. The logitech website has a downloadable worksheet for this but pad and pencil will do. First you set up all of your devices (tv, dvd, cable box, etc. ) and then you set up your activities (watch tv, watch a movie, etc. ). The software walks you through this process but you have to follow the flow. There are no shortcuts unless you already have a harmony remote and then the software will allow you to import that existing setup and after syncing the hub with the software you are good to go. Tweaks and adjustments are easily done later.

This is a solid product. I too come from years of using harmony remotes, liked them all except the one-touch as the touch screen was not ready for prime time - now discontinued from logitech. I have this remote and the harmony elite. My favorite new feature is the ability to control my roku with the app or remote. To the people reviewing one stars. You need to understand what this kit is doing to have a good experience. This device comes with a wifi hub, remote control and a mobile app. This means that your wifi router needs to be top notch if you want to avoid lag in response times. It means you have to experiment and position the hub and ir blasters correctly for the devices they are controlling. I think these remotes are loved or hated, similar to ms windows, due to trying to support every type of device and hardware on the planet. If you have quality devices your trying to control, can follow directions and have some patience setting the device up, i believe you will find these remotes are quite remarkable. Logitech harmony smart control - black Review (915 000194)

Got this remote from crutchfield last friday. Not only does it work great, but the remote and the hub both look good and the build is high quality. When i opened the box, i was hoping it would work as good as it looks, and it didn't let me down. You can set up either using a pc, or with the iphone or android app, which i have an iphone. Strongly recommend using the app because you can plug the hub in, and leave it there. One thing with set up: if you are upgrading from another harmony remote, chances are you can import the activities, and that speeds it up. Only thing it won't import are customized button settings, but that's no problem. The feel of the remote is great, and the buttons "click" so you know the command has been sent. And you may not need to use the mini-blaster if your hub is in the open, i'm just using the hub and the remote. And note that the hub is required because that's what actually sends the ir commands to your equipment. One neat thing: when you update your settings and sync via the app, the hub updates over wifi and then it updates your remote via rf. For those wondering about the remote battery, it's a replaceable cr2032 coin battery that's supposed to last one year or longer, but we'll see. And this battery also explains why the buttons aren't backlit (too much drain). One weak point is the documentation, which there was practically none. Also, seems like logitech tech support hasn't been well trained on this device. One of their techs happened to change a setting on my account, and that caused the remote to stop working. The next day i asked how to reset to factory condition so i could redo the set up, and they told me to press and release the reset/pair button, which is incorrect (that's only to pair a remote). Finally, they told me to unplug it, then press and hold the button, plug it back in, and wait until the led turned solid red before releasing. Why this is not in the documentation, i don't know. With better documentation and tech support training, i would have rated 5 stars. . Update 6/13 - first off, i don't know why my review was dated may 20 by online store, i actually reviewed it 6/11. Anyway, a note about the "help" feature: first, the remote doesn't have a help button (no display to guide you through the motions), it's only found on the iphone app (or android). But even in the app, the help feature is only present when an activity is "on". When all activities are off, there is no help feature present. This means if you turn off the tv activity, but your cable or satellite box fails to turn off (if you've set everything to turn off), the only way to do it is either at the device or by using the device's original remote. I called tech support and they verified it wasn't there by looking at one of their ipads. They said they would "elevate" it. Now i'll just wait and see if that gets done. After all, it is a core feature that should be there. . Update 7/6 - i actually emailed the ceo of logitech about the "help" issue with the iphone app (it's there when you turn on an activity in case a device failed to turn on, but not there when turning off activities, so what do you do if a device doesn't turn off ? ), and a rep from corporate did answer. He stated that they are planning on updating the app to include this feature in late summer as part of their "road map". I still don't understand why this wasn't programmed in from the beginning since "help" is a core feature of their remotes. I guess they must contract out their software programming and they simply left it out and logitech didn't check/test for it, or they did test the software but overlooked "help". Whatever the reason, i'm satisfied i got a proper response. Now we'll see if it actually gets done. Still love the remote, though. And the coin battery still appears to be going strong after four weeks of use (don't hardly use the iphone app, but when i do, i want the "help" to be there like it should). . Update 7/28 - logitech has now updated their app to include the "help" function when turning off an activity, this was previously missing. Only thing is it appears that the associated firmware update for the hub was probably delayed because i initially had problems with the updated app. However, i tried the app again last night and noticed the firmware update came through, so now the app works like it should. Also, the corporate rep followed up with me and stated that they have made improvements to the documentation included in the box, although it may be a bit before the updated packaging gets to the customer. And the original battery still seems to be going strong after almost 8 weeks of almost exclusively using the simple remote. -S. Julia

  • I just bought two of these to add to my earlier collection, and they all work great. I had a problem controlling a tcl roku tv on one of these, so i called their support line. They were great! they found that the model number of my tv had been changed on the box but not on the tv. They then programmed it from their end, and all was well. Their new software for the pc and for the smartphones works much more easily than their earlier software. The entire process is now easy. Just collect your model numbers, and decide what activities you want to do. It's really that easy if you have three or fewer activities. (ex, watch tv; watch dvd, play music. )
  • In 2004 i bought a pioneer 50 inch plasma tv with a panasonic home theater system. Of course because of cable monopolies i had to use comcast cable. The comcast remote would turn on the set top box and the tv but i could never get it to turn on the home theater. In 2011 i replaced the panasonic system with an lg lhb536 system so i could have 3d blurray and netflix and online store and vudu and pandora. Once again i could not get the comcast remote to learn the commands to turn on the lg system. In 2013 i added an apple tv to my system. By the way all of my components are behind closed doors in a entertainment cabinet of course except the tv. Saw this new logitech harmony product on the tech update on the fox news website. Read all the info and multiple reviews and watched all the you tube videos and even called harmony tech support to be sure it would work with my equipment. Purchased from online store and called their tech support to be sure i could return it if it did not work. Ordered and received in 2 days (love prime) i tried to set it up and program it myself but the lg inputs made it complicated. Called harmony tech support for help. It did take 4 calls and some hours of work with them and finally level ii support personnel to get my harmony programmed for watch tv, watch apple tv, watch a dvd or premium channels like online store and netflix. But every person i talked to at harmony was polite, patient, and completely dedicated to helping me to get my remote to work. Wow, now my remote works great both the app on my iphone 5s and the simple smart harmony remote. I love it, closed cabinet doors and i just click and navigate. So enjoyable but the harmony customer support people are outstanding. I would have rated this product with 5 stars if i had been able to set it up myself but the tech support team deserves 10 stars. Benjamin at tech support told me to be sure and email him after several days to be sure everything was working the way it was supposed to. Wow, cud's to this company for their products and for the outstanding and competent people they hire and train. Don't be afraid to buy this product. You will be happy or you can return it.
  • I am satisfied with this. My only complaint is that the remote does not send ir in addition to rf. This means if your components are hidden away in a closet it works well with them, but you need to run one of the ir extenders to the room where your tv is. I found online others spliced in a coax cable to do this - i used some speaker wire and that worked fine. However, seems like there should be a more elegant solution out of the box from harmony as with today's wall mounted flat screens many folks have their components located some distance away from the tv in a closet, etc. Vs. Directly under in a cabinet. . *update - it's been 3 years and my hub just died. Will not power on. This is the 3rd harmony device i have purchased and the quality is just not built to last. Will look at other options this time around,
  • Bought this to control onkyo receiver, directtv box, ps3, and samsung tv. Tv is mounted on wall in middle of room, all other equipment is in a closet on the side of the room. The hub is positioned in closet and the mini-blaster is run through the ceiling and positioned in front of the tv's ir eye. All activities work perfectly. The problem, though, is the hub cannot turn off the tv consistently. Sometimes the tv turns off properly, other times "off" must be pressed 20-30 times before it turns off. Other times, the tv never turns off. Every other command works except "off" for the tv. Logitech's forums are full of complaints about samsung tvs not being turned off by this particular harmony remote. I spent hours troubleshooting with logitech, tier 1 and tier 2 support. In the end, their only suggestion was to reposition the mini-blaster. Of course, this did not work because it was not the problem. The tv has an led that flashes red whenever the tv receives an ir signal. Every time i push "off" the tv ir led flashes red, so the tv is receiving the "off" signal. The problem is, this harmony remote does not know how to send a proper off signal to samsung tvs. When i was troubleshooting with tech support, we had the hub "learn" the "off" command from the oem samsung tv remote. The tech said that the code that the hub learned was "an invalid samsung code. " not sure how this could even be possible since the oem remote works perfectly. . In short, the only remote you'll need unless you have a samsung tv. Then you'll still need your samsung tv remote handy to turn the tv off. Not a deal breaker, but it is annoying given the price of these harmony remotes and that samsung tvs are among the most popular tvs on the market.
  • Very poor wifi antenna. . I am constantly fighting this thing disconnecting and having to reset the connection. . It said it had 4/5 bars connection to my wifi network and still has problems. . I can't even stay connected long enough to change settings. . Only option is to use my computer to setup the functions, but then half of the functionality ( mobile phone tools and controls ) are missing.

harmony smart control -Logitech Harmony Smart Control - Black (Switch to Mobile/Desktop Version)

For years we've struggled to find a single universal remote to control all of our components well. I could come close with some remotes but all of the features that i needed weren't available so i always had at least two remotes to do what i needed. With the addition of a roku 3 which uses wireless vice infrared to control it, two remotes was the norm. I read a bunch of reviews before i purchased this. What attracted me to it was the wireless communication between the remote and the hub (no line of site required) and the simple remote itself. My setup: i have a home theater in my bedroom (pioneer vsx-1123 av receiver, roku3, samsung 55" plasma, samsung blu-ray and ceton echo (my cable box)), all are hardwired to my local network via ethernet connections, nothing is connected wirelessly to my network with the exception of the logitech hub. I had a logitech 880 remote that ultimately bit the dust after to many drops from 3' to the hardwood floor, the complaints with the 880: "can't see the buttons", "buttons to small", "won't control volume", etc. It was time for a new remote. I received the new remote and hub thursday evening and spent about 1 hour setting it up. I did not bother with the app on my wife s i-phone as previous reviewers directed me to set my hub up with my desktop (thankyou). The first thing i did was tether the hub to my computer via the provided usb cable. Secondly the pamphlet provided in the box directed me to the website to install the my harmony software. I was initially perplexed as my previous user name and password that i used with the 880 would not work (problem 1 that i encountered), so i created a new account. Problem 2 was that i could not get the hub to connect wirelessly to the wireless access point near my bedroom, i do not fault logitech for this as it is an ancient dlink router that i have repurposed as a wireless access point and i have had problems with other devices connecting to it. I eventually connected to my primary asus router and proceeded with the set up. As i waded through i was prompted to access my old account to transfer the settings from my 880 to the new hub (this should have been done sooner in the setup, it would have saved me some frustration on the front end). I transferred the settings and was up and running, or so i thought. I waltzed back to the bedroom with the new much simpler remote and hub. I plugged the hub in, placed it right on top of my dvd player (shelf below my av receiver 3 ft from my tv, which is not line of sight from the hub) and handed the remote to my wife for a try. She was watching netflix on the roku, long story short it didn t work (problem 3). Head down, with a frown, i disconnected the hub brought it back to the computer and gave it another go, i discovered that the remote functions for pause and play were set to control the tv, i fixed that. Repeated the hook up above, still didn t work. Back to the computer, i had to actually add a new activity from the picklist where the roku was listed with it s recognizable icon. This deserves some explanation, the hub actually finds all of your connected devices on your network and i believe uses the network connection to communicate with your device (negating the use of the infrared or augmenting it in some way). Third try was a charm, this thing works wonderfully, the response time is phenomenal, the remote is simple and it does it all. The three programmable activity buttons at the top of the remote control the three most used functions on our tv (roku, cable tv and dvd), hit the button and the three devices that are necessary for this function turn on in a hurry. The remote is wireless so you do not need to point it at the device you are controlling. I did not use any of the long or short button pressing options as this would have over complicated the remote (again simplicity was the key! ) despite the problems with the setup the actual performance gives this remote 5 stars. I cannot comment on the app as we do not use it, i plan to side load it to my kindle and may update this in the future with that review.

Not only its a truly universal remote that allow me to hide every other thing i have laying around in the house, this remote also allows me to automatize a lot of functions with ifttt and use my google home to operate stuff. You need to use a software (which is a bit older and more complicated than i would have expected) to create activities (watch netflix, watch tv, turn everything off, listen to spotify) and you get to set what device does what (tv on hdmi 3, apple tv turns on netflix, turn on soundbar, etc). This is a bit tedious, but doesn't take too much work, and you set it up once and forget about it. . Remote control uses a watch battery, and so far (after over a year) no need to have it replaced."

(0) Question: Can the harmony see the samsung tv list of input sources and select one, as opposed to just "clicking" x times like my current universal remote?

(1) Question: Is it compatible with alexa

(2) Question: Does this remote work with the xfinity x1 box (rng-150n)?

Echo Dot 2nd Generation - Black

We love our dot so much that we bought a second within a few days. . Now i want a third for my living room. She took moments to set up. You can ask her a lot anything. In the kitchen i use her repetitively for a timer. I use her to add items to my shopping list. I just say "alexa, add eggs" and she responds "ive added eggs to your shopping list, the list is immediately available on my phone. I created another list for a vacation. I use her to listen to music. I play history games with her. She plays a lot of games. I use her to turn off a smart outlet we bought. Instead of turning off a lamp, i say, "alexa, turn off the lamp. " she is brilliant. Can't wait till there is more technology for her.

Echo dot is a hands-free, voice-controlled device with a small built-in speaker it can also connect to your speakers or headphones over bluetooth or through a 3. 5 mm audio cable to deliver stereo sound to the speakers you choose. Dot connects to the alexa voice service to play music, provide information, news, sports scores, weather, and more instantly. Echo dot can hear you from across the room, even while music is playing. When you want to use echo dot, just say the wake word "alexa" and dot responds instantly. Echo dot provides hands-free voice control for online store music just ask for your favorite artist or song, or request a specific genre or mood. You can also search for music by lyrics, when a song or album was released, or let alexa pick the music for you. Echo dot also provides hands-free voice control to pandora, spotify, iheartradio, and tunein. Voice control your smart home use echo dot to switch on the lamp before getting out of bed, turn up the thermostat while reading in your favorite chair, or dim the lights from the couch to watch a movie all without lifting a finger. Far-field voice recognition tucked under the light ring is an array of seven microphones that use beam-forming technology and enhanced noise cancellation. With a more powerful processor, the all-new echo dot has improved wake-word performance to hear you ask a question from any direction even in noisy environments or while playing music. Echo Dot 2nd Generation - Black (53 005166) FAQ.

We are addicted to these :) so much fun ! want to wake your kid to missy elliot , alex baldwin, or dan marino ? this is how . Funny that the regular alarm they hate and although they claim to hate getting up for school they seemed in a better mood after waking to this . The dot is fun for an intercom throughout the house . It can play games and do all that the big one can do . The speaker is not as loud but if your in a bedroom it hits a good amount without disturbing other rooms . Sadly if you have a fan or background noise you really have to turn it up to hear . Great purchases though -Notice from J. Weber, Indiana

Decided that it worked so well that it needed and stylish makeover. So i secured it on an old radio box and the wooden box make the speakers so much more vibrant and the box i have lets me have all the buttons.

- P. AnonymousMy brother robert who has been bed ridden and paralyzed with multiple sclerosis from his neck down for more than 30 years now has a new friend named alexa! he was in tears with happiness when alexa played 70's music, played jeopardy, answered all his questions and wakes him up every morning. Thank you online store for giving my brother a new bedside companion. Happy holidays. Roy

I preordered the 1st gen echo when online store made them available for preorder to prime members, and i couldn t wait to get it. However, the world hadn t been introduced to it yet so there were no alexa compatible devices, and therefore my first year or so with it was just more like a glorified weather-looker-upper and time-teller. It was kind of boring. . Fast forward a year or so later, i have 2 echos and several dots that i now control my lights, my thermostat, my irrigation system, and many other devices around my home with. I love the dots because they are much more affordable than the echo, but yet gives you most of the same functionality, at least with respect to creating a smart home environment. . The only part that annoys me is when i watch tv and someone (anyone, whether male or female) says the word alexa it triggers my device and she tries to interpret what she heard. In the beginning, a few times it caught me off guard and freaked me out, but nowadays i find myself scrambling for the remote to mute the tv if someone is talking about alexa. I think there is a way you can train alexa to be better at that, and you can even give it a name other than alexa but i just haven t done that yet. . Online store has done a pretty good job at placing online orders using alexa voice ordering, but they have a long ways to go before it s perfect. As of right now, the only thing i really feel comfortable with ordering using just my voice is re-ordering something i ve purchased in the past. Alexa looks in your history, and she does tell you what the bottom line cost will be, plus tax, before placing the order. So that gives you the chance to accept or reject, which is extremely important given the fact that online store fluctuates their pricing on some things and often. And not just by a few pennies, but by an amount that would make me upset if she ordered it on my behalf without any kind of confirmation on the price. I look forward to doing more with voice ordering, as they make enhancements to it. . I like how alexa captures everything within the app that she hears. So if something or someone triggered alexa other than you and you wanted to see what she heard that made her go off, you can go into the app to see what it was. Some of them have been pretty funny. . The logistics:. . I have a 2700 sq ft home and i have 2 echos and a dot downstairs, and a dot upstairs. The master bedroom is on the main level so the upstairs isn t used that much, so i find i only need 1 dot up there. I keep one echo in the bedroom and one in the living room, where both rooms are on the same side of the house but there is enough wall that provides enough barrier to block the sound, so i can t try to talk to my alexa in the living room when i m in the bedroom, and vice versa. I have the dot in my office, which is on the other side of the house, same floor. Actually, if it s completely quiet, no tv is on, i can talk to my alexa in the living room from the office based on the open floorplan of my house, but i have to talk loud and clear. I figured for the low cost of the dot, i would just add one to the office so i didn t need to keep yelling to be heard. . As for what devices i control:. . 1. My nest thermostat. Comes in really handy in the winter when you re laying in bed under the covers and don t want to move to get your phone, or god forbid get out of bed to actually go to the thermostat and increase the temperature! you can just say, alexa, increase the downstairs temperature by 2 degrees. . . 2. My lamps, using philips hue lightbulbs. For my lights, i ve created each fixture to be on their own command ( alexa, turn the bedroom light on ), as well as a grouping of lights ( alexa, turn the downstairs lights on. ) which makes walking into a pitch dark house at night no longer an issue. For lighting, i prefer the smart lightbulbs over the smart plugs, because the lightbulbs are dimmable. You cannot use a normal, non-alexa enabled dimmable lightbulb and control it with alexa. You can still control the on/off part using a smart plug, but you d still need to use the manual switch for the dimming, which to me defeats the purpose of making it a smart light. Unless you don t need a dimmer, then a smart plug works just fine! . . 3. My lamps, tv, and other electrical devices that i have plugged into a tp link smart plug. I haven t quite figured out the tv yet. I generally turn the tv off when no one is home, but the dvr stays on so it records anything that s been programmed to record. However, my dvr goes into sleep mode after so many hours with no activity, which i believe they are all built to do. So i can turn the tv on and off with alexa using a smart plug, but you ll still need to grab a remote to get the dvr out of sleep mode. You can t just say, alexa, turn the tv on and it will start playing with you doing nothing at all. Not too big of a deal, but it s not quite a hands-free process with the tv. At least that s been my experience. . 4. My rachio smart irrigation to control my lawn watering. I probably don t control this one as much with my voice as i do the app, but i like knowing that i can if/when i need to. . Overall, the dot is a great device for the money, and if you don t ever plan to play music with it, you can stick to the dot vs. The echo, since it gives you all the same functionality. I can t compare to google home since i don t have that one, but i find integrating my alexa-enabled devices and adding skills from the alexa store a breeze. No smart home should be without one of these!

Echo 2nd Generation improved sound, powered Dolby, a new design Charcoal Fabric

I bought this alexa as a black friday special and i really love it. I also purchased three smart plugs and a light switch to get started. Set up was easy and fast. I went back and purchased two dots as well so i could use alexa in different areas of the house. I also have the online store fire stick but have not been able to figure out how to combine the two. I have no issues with the sound quality and did not bother to hook up my bose speaker to the device. Still have no regrets after using it for over a month.

Generation Improved Sound Powered Design (53 006466) FAQ.

I bought this for my boyfriend as a christmas gift and i can honestly say it was the best gift if christmas. Along with this i purchased and echo dot and the firetv. I love the compatibility of all the products. I highly recommend purchasing the online store music with this to get the ultimate music aspect of it. The sound quality is actually good and goes to a pretty loud volume. I love being able to turn the mic off -Notice from Z. Delgado, Essex

So i can't give a full 5 stars. After the update it sounds better but not better then the generation one. But the biggest improvement is the mic. At a full level 10 plugged into a surround sound at level 60 it can hear "alexa" at a normal voice! it's really unbelievable how much better it is on hearing me. *old review. Side by side with the original echo and the original sounds much better. They definitely did not improve the speaker. If you can not get the generation 1 this would be alright. The mic is definitely "improved" she can now hear me with the volume maxed out. The audio jack is a nice improvement also. I guess i just thought generation 2 should be better all the way around especially when words like "better" and "improved" are used about the sound. Online store is taking note though and called me out of the blue to get my take and the different tests i did to determine my judgement so maybe there is hope?

The F.A.Q. for logitech harmony smart control - black

Background: i've had harmony remotes for over 10 yrs. The 890 does everything i need. It has the following flaws: a) they don't make anymore, b) the button design is terrible, eventually the wear out. C) the app to configure is dated. For it's time, it was state of the art, but having to plug the remote and the rf repeater into your computer was a major pita. . The harmony smart fixes all that with one caveat. The remote itself does not have ir. Everything goes thru the hub. The ir extender is sufficient only if you can see everything by running it outside the cabinet. This works for me except i have a 2nd tv in another room that does not "see" the repeater. The only major change i'd like to see is ir on the handheld remote. . Pros:. . 1) wi-fi! it's better than the old rf. It's really quick! one click and it just works, no holding down the button. The wifi works anywhere you have wi-fi. I can be anywhere, no matter how many walls and it works. Just for grins, i connect via vpn from outside the network and turned on the tv. Whoa! it's wife proof. Anyone who travels will know what i'm talking about. . 2) programming. I can change anything in the set up right from the ipad, android, or computer in seconds. Changes are quick and reasonable intuitive. Testing is a snap, no reconnecting to the computer. Don't even need a computer! no logging into logitech's site (the cloud). You can save your configuration to the cloud. But, that's all you really need it for. Backup and copying to a new smart. I ordered a 2nd once i decided i liked the 1st. . 3) my wife liked it. . 4) bluetooth keyboard. The bluetooth is quirky, but that's bt, not logitech. . Cons:. 1) no ir on the remote. . Wish list:. . 1) ir on the handheld remote. 2) zwave on the hub. 3) support for ip cameras (web browser? ). 4) better computer mouse support (basic mouse support, i have to jump to rc trackpad on the ipad). 5) the ir extender is included, but no double sided sticky. Had to order a pack. 6) better apple tv interface (why not use include hot buttons to the atv apps vs. Simple remote navigation. . The 890 was the best remote logitech made (except for the buttons). This is the 1st one that tops it imho

I have a harmony 650 and it wasn't so bad, but this thing beats it by a mile. . Really, all you need is a home hub and your own smartphone. You save about $30 that way - though the remote is really an excellent one. . You can do most of the programming (if not all) right on your own smart phone. The setup is quite good, though you will need to pay attention to more detail than you wanted to to make it run perfectly. The good news is that you have lots of options to tweak the settings to fit the way you want to use it. . The setup features are good enough to select netflix or hulu as the choice on our new 70" 4k vizio smart tv - so you can start right where you most use your equipment. It synched with our wii and roku 3 and yamaha receiver. . The rf transmission is wonderful. I accidentally turned on the living room tv from the bedroom because the rf goes through doors and walls, nice! . . There are some third party ir emitters that are compatible on online store so you don't have to go with the harmony blaster - some say the third party ones are better. The one i got had three different emitter nodes, so you can spread the ir love a little further. . If it keeps going this well, i'll come back and give it a full five stars.

Best logitech harmony smart control - black (915 000194) in review

I've known about the harmony line since logitech released them over a decade ago. I never invested in them because at the time, i was told they were junk. Of course, this was coming from a friend of mine who is a professional home automation/av guru. The remotes he used were those $300+ remotes by a company called urc (universal remote control) that controls 200+ devices. Of course, i would never pay over $100 for a remote and i don't have 200+ devices. Let alone more than in a single room. I do admit, those remotes are wicked cool (best buy magnolia sells them) but they were overkill for the general consumer (me). . Fast forward to today, i've read that the logitech harmony remotes have come a long way from their beginnings. Not only are they slick, but they are powerful and very functional. Off and on, i've seen the logitech harmony 650 &logitech 700  go on sale but i never pulled the trigger. I eventually found out that the setup i had required a universal remote to do both ir (infrared) and rf (radio frequency) control. The lower end logitech line is ir *only*. I investigated the other lines and found that the minimum i could get was the harmony hub ($99. 99 msrp) but required an "app" on your smartphone or tablet (no remote was included). However, i'm a cheapskate and i wanted a physical remote but i refused to pay that much for a remote. . Then came the day where there was a sale on the harmony hub w/ remote (which is the item i'm reviewing). Online store had it listed for $69. 99 for 1 day only (a discount of $60). I immediately pulled the trigger on it and i haven't looked back since. Now knowing what i know, i should have bought this a long time ago. . Here's what i like about it:. 1. Controls literally everything (it gets its info from the logitech "cloud". Therefore there are always devices added to it, thus the remote never goes "obsolete". 2. Has general activities out of the box, but can be customized and tweaked to your liking. For example, my sound system utilizes hdmi arc, which turns on/off depending on if the tv turns on/off. The activities involving a tv had each device come on/off individually. I tweaked the macros to just ignore the soundbar functions and let the hdmi arc do it's job. Another example is the delays of each macro step was too long for my liking. It would have me wait several seconds just to flip between activities. I modified each action and shaved off a couple seconds and i wasn't sitting there waiting. 3. Controls more than just entertainment systems, but anything that can be controlled with a remote: thermostats, lights, alexa, sonos, etc. With just 1 device, you can do anything in regards to home automation. 4. Easy to program. Took me just 30 minutes to set up my activities consisting of smart tv, cable, firetv, and radio functions. 5. Controls ir, rf, bluetooth devices. 6. Comes with an ir blaster! which separately with other high-end remotes is just another accessory to buy. 7. I ditched 4 remotes for just 1. Thank you logitech. . Watching/listening to different activities has been consolidated to just 1 remote. I can't believe how easy it was to setup and get working. As i mentioned in my likes points, i no longer have to fish/find multiple remotes depending on the activity i want to do. 1 remote does it all. Again, i got the remote/hub at a steal of a price but had i known what i know now, i would have bought it at retail price. . Do yourself a favor and buy one now.

I was very surprised when i found out this could also control my roku streaming stick 3500r (my roku comes with an rf remote vice an infrared one). The harmony smart control can send commands to the roku via the wi-fi network. How cool is that? ! the remote is also well laid out and feels like a solidly made product. I also like how you can look up the products to control by the actual model numbers rather than having to try a series of codes based only on the manufacturer. There are also commands available for the harmony that aren't even on my original samsung tv remote, such as selecting a specific input directly rather than just hitting the source button over and over until you get to the right source.

I have been a logitech remote user for many years. Need to replace them when they wear out. Last was a 980. . Pros:. Easy setup since i could import my old settings. Easy setup, simple when i switched to a different receiver. Small remote is nice to handle and comfortable. Also wastes less space. Not sure how long the battery will last but it has had no issues in 3 months. Rf wireless saved my marriage. My wife is one of those people who controls the tv by pointing the remote at it. Would work fine but like most systems she is really controlling, a receiver and a tivo not really the tv. Rf means no line of sight required and works great. Yes even for me. Logitech hub just sits on the same stand as all of my equipment and controls it all from there. This worked better than i expected since my tv is above it and my receiver below it but it has zero problems controlling them precisely. I do not need to use the included ir extender. For the price this is by far the best true universal remote you can buy. . Cons: really trade offs. Since the remote is small so are the number keys but they work fine just a little small. There is no back light on the remote but if there was i would assume i would more often need to replace the battery. . Not really a con:. Since the remote has no display there is no help button like the 980. But i have never needed help since it always controls everything without retrying. No need to get help when the cat runs in front of the receiver while turning it on and interrupts the ir beam like non-rf remotes. Oh yeah did i say i love the rf remote compared to ir. Yes i did but it is worth repeating. . I have played with the phone app on my lg g3 and it works fine. But we almost always use the remote. . The remote controls at most 6 activities which i am sure is fine for most users, we use 4 activities.

I finally broke down and bought a universal remote after buying a sound system for my tv that could not be controlled using any of the 5 other remotes i was already using, meaning that i now had 6 remotes that were necessary to control 7 devices made by 6 different manufacturers. . Frankly, i did not have a lot of confidence in this remote, given the variety of makes, models, and ages of my devices as well as my desire to have one remote to rule them all. I unpacked everything with the assumption that i would be repackaging it in a few hours to return it. Luckily, my pessimism (this time) was not necessary. It worked fine for me, controls my devices seamlessly, and was much easier to set up than i ever expected. . That is not to say it did not take some time. It took about an hour from the time i opened it to the point where i was using it. I chose to set it up using my pc and the usb cable included with the device. I accessed the logitech harmony website, downloaded their browser add-on, and followed the directions. I had to sit through a device installation, connection to wifi, and a firmware update before i could do much. Time consuming, but not difficult. Then i had to tell the system what devices i had. I entered the make and model number of my tv, bluray player, sound system, directv receiver, wii, appletv, and 13-year-old vcr when prompted. The app had some clarifications or setting changes that were needed for some of these devices that were clearly documented on the browser add-on. Then i set up my configurations (e. G. , when i "watch tv" i use the tv, the sound system, and the directv receiver; the sound is controlled by the sound system, the channels are controlled by the directv receiver, and the tv input is hdmi1). The system gave me a very accurate list of inputs for my tv using the exact names that my tv used for each port. I was quite impressed. . Once done, i put the hub on an end table facing the tv and plugged it into the wall. It updated the remote as well as my iphone (i installed the app on my phone as well as my wife's). I also set up a list of favorite channels for use on the app. It works very well. I no longer need any other remotes (except my wiimote for the wii) to control anything. I also never have to look at my tv's terrible source selection menu again, the presets on the remote change the input automatically. It has lead to kind of an interesting social experiment in the living room. Since both of our phones double as remotes, there is not clearly defined holder of the television power in the living room any longer. Previously, whomever held the remote, held the power. Handing off of the remote was a symbolic act of trust. Now, anyone can change what we are watching at any time without warning. It is a brave new world. . Because the system is upgradable over time, i hope that some small improvements might be forthcoming (i believe that 5-stars is the right rating, but there are still a few small things i might change). First, it is apparently not possible to add any of the local channels that i get as part of my directv subscription to the favorites list. I can still watch them by accessing the guide or entering the channel number manually, but it is odd that i cannot enter them as favorites. The buttons on the iphone 4s screen are a bit big. I would like to be able to fit the volume controls on the same screen as the select button, arrow keys, and page up/page down keys. You can reconfigure where the keys are, but you can only fit so many on the screen at once. Maybe if i had a phone with a larger screen (e. G. , iphone5) more buttons would fit. The system will change the tv input to the wii and turn the wii on, but it is kind of strange that is all it does. I do still need my wiimote to do anything else with the wii. For me, it is not a big deal. I do not expect to play a game using my universal remote (or iphone), but if i did use my wii as my netflix box (rather than my appletv) i would be a little annoyed. Perhaps i need to synch the hub as controller 1 on the wii, but that would add some additional annoyances. . The people who complain about the remote itself are probably a bit too fussy. It is a nice compromise between too complex and not enough features. It has all of the usual keys that i use regularly from my prior remotes. Button-cell batteries suck, but that's a minor grievance. Next time, let us use a 1. 2v aaa rechargeable battery. Or perhaps i am just a philistine who doesn't really appreciate the necessity of back-lit buttons on my remote control. . Anyway, it worked great with my particular setup. It may not with someone else's. I can imagine that someone who owns an older or obscure model television might have some trouble if all of the inputs are not mapped out as well in the harmony firmware as mine were. As such, you too should probably also open your package carefully and save all of the components in case you want to send it back. But it worked well for me and i (almost) don't regret paying $100 for a remote control.

This is a nice remote. Set up was a snap. Just set up the hub, download the harmony app, connect to bluetooth and it does the rest. . I had a harmony one set up, so once i logged into my harmony account; it downloaded my harmony one set up to the hub. . The greatest thing about this no need fro windows or mac osx to do the set up. . Also, this will work fro any android device be it a smart phone or tablet. . The response, as other have reported, is much faster than the harmony one. . One can use either the included remote or use the android device as the remote. Both work just a quickly. By the way, i like the ergonomics is also very nice. . The only downsides; the included remote is not backlit. If you like a lcd screen, this remote does not have one. It does required a battery replacement, but it uses a standard round watch battery. Because setting are stored on the hub, and at the harmony web site, one does not have to worry about losing any of your set up. . I bought it on sale, from online store, fro $98. 95, which is much less expensive than the rechargable elite, with an lcd, fro over $300. I do not have 16 devices to control, so 8 devices capability was more than ample.

This is my second experience with a harmony line remote, the first was an ir only model (350 line i think) and i liked that one, but it was far from perfect. I wanted this one because i also use a fire tv box a lot for streaming services, along with an audio receiver, blu ray player, cable box, and of course an led tv. This let me go from 4 remotes to one that works flawlessly every single time i push the buttons. . First, let me point out that everything you need is in this package: the remote shown, the all important hub, 1 additional ir blaster, and the power supply. The instructions are as bare as possible; for a tech guy like me this is no issue, but my parents might have been turned off by this. Even the instructions in the app, while much better, needs improvement for non-tech people to follow. Even i got a little lost in the app trying to figure out how to customize some buttons, but i did figure everything out. . The hub is simply placed on a shelf in my entertainment center, which is open faced. It does not have direct line of sight with my receiver or tv, but controls them with zero issues. My understanding is that it blasts ir 360 degrees in the room and in most cases will bounce until it gets to the desired devices. So you'd really only need the additional ir blaster if you have some devices closed inside the entertainment center. . The remote feels very well designed. The buttons feel sturdy, the textured back is excellent for grip, and it's simply light and easy. It lacks some more advanced features like backlit keys and an lcd screen to customize, but whats there works well. It runs off a smaller watch-style battery, so i'm kinda glad to not have some of those features for battery life. . The remote itself is not an ir remote. It will not do anything without the supplied hub. All this does is tell the hub to give the commands and the hub does all the magic. It works off a radio connection to the hub, which means you don't need line of sight to the hub for the remote to work. This i consider a strong positive, no more having to point the remote and occasionally missing the sensor, especially when performing a multi-phase action like turning on multiple devices and setting the inputs and channel. Hit the button, and as long as your hub hasn't been moved since the last time, it'll work every time. . The hub allows for control from a smartphone or tablet. This is ok for some people, but i consider the app probably the weakest part of this system. It does work, and you need to set up the system from a smart device before everything will work well, but i've never been a fan of controlling my entertainment center like this. Like the online store fire tv app, it does work, but for me personally it doesn't replace a real remote in my hand. For those that like it though, at least i'm confident that it will work if i lose the remote or the battery dies. . Once configured, this is a great setup. I don't use every feature available since i don't watch tv as much as some might, but there are features for setting favorite channels on the app, but i'm not sure that's very helpful from the actual physical remote. If you've grown accustomed to that from more expensive versions of the remotes with lcd screens and some customized menus, you might be disappointed that this remote won't do all that. You'd need to upgrade to the better remote for that. . I also connected this to my online store dot device through the "skills" section of the alexa app. This allows me to do some basic things like activate an activity using my voice. It works very well for those basic commands, but it won't do more advanced things like changing volume. Maybe with more updates it'll get more intricate, but i like the basics so far and enjoy being able to set up and play music without looking for a remote. . Pros:. - replaces multiple remotes very well. - handles bluetooth control as well as ir, the 2 most common control methods today. - hub grants smartphone access and smarthome configurations. - included remote works without line of sight. - many ways to customize activities. - haven't found a single device that it couldn't support yet. . Cons:. - a little difficult to setup if you aren't already familiar with similar tech. - app seems required if things get out of sync, which might be an issue for some

Our dog chewed up our previous harmony 520 remote so when searching for a new one i decided on this on the simple fact the dogs have less opportunity to chew my phone then another expensive remote. I love the fact that i no longer have to worry about aiming the remote directly at the entertainment center to insure every device clicks on. I can be half up the stairs and turn the tv off on my way to bed. The included remote is a huge plus for guest at the house, but they don't include and instructions on removing the battery from it. Mine got dislodge by me trying to rip the little arrow sticker off of it. After a quick google search i found out instructions and got it up and running. . I use the apple version of the software and i would say it's kind of award to control the tv with your phone, especially if you are on your phone already and have to back out of something to get into the app. Even unlocking your phone and jumping into the app is a bit cumbersome. I think the layout on the app could use some reworking, it seems kind of clunky. I wish there was a way to use the remote on your phone without having unlock your phone.

Wow. I replaced an older harmony remote with this one and am absolutely thrilled with it's performance. . I replaced an older harmony 890 remote and here's my comparison between the two:. . Setup. . The harmony 890 required a proprietary usb cable and a locally installed program on a pc in order to configure components. Over time it was a royal pain to find the correct cable to program. In addition, if you replaced the computer where the logitech program was installed, you lost your configuration and had to start over. . The smart remote setup was very simple and uses an app on your phone to configure (i'm using the ios version) over your home wireless network. The app stores the configuration in an online account with logitech, so you don't have to worry about losing your configuration. . Battery life. . The harmony 890 would lose charge after a few days off it's base station. In addition, mine had a propensity to cause the lithium ion battery to swell causing the battery cover to pop off. I replaced the battery 3 times over a span of 6 years for that reason. It would swell to the point where it was impossible to place the cover back on. . The smart remote uses a simple button battery. I'm unsure it's life as i've only had it 3 months, but button batteries are cheap at online store and easy enough to pop in and out. . Ergonomics. . The harmony 890 was comfortable in my hand and i liked the soft key programming functionality. By today's standards it is a little bigger and heavier than you would want. . The smart remote is much thinner and lighter and feels good in your hand. The outside covering has a soft feel to it. . Functionality. . The soft key programming functionality on the 890 was nice and needed before for my setup. For whatever reason, i often had to use the 'help' feature because frequently one or another component would not do exactly what was desired. The ir blaster and extensions were properly located. . On the smart remote, i thought i was going to miss the soft keys that were on the 890. However, i realized the smart remote actually has keys for all the functions i used to have to program special - things like the satellite remote colored buttons for special functionality. In addition, it flawlessly operates all the components now.

Getting my home automated has been my plan for a while. After purchasing an online store echo and dot, i went with the logitech harmony smart control for my smart tv, satellite receiver and other av gadgets. I read several good reviews but also had many friends recommend this. This was easy to set up with my wi-fi network and that's the key. If setting up home automation, make sure everything is on the same network. I installed the skill on my echo, downloaded the app and was set to go. Also, i found it easier to use the desktop app from logitech (my harmony) and setting it up from there. All in all, simply following the simple directions and a bit of tech knowledge, the smart control is a must for home automation. I use it for turning the tv off and on, channel changing, volume control, xbox and more. The ability to control multiple devices is just what i wanted and needed for automation. The small remote works excellent if needed. The app is easy to use and get started and the desktop app was a must for me. Overall, this is well worth the money, especially for what i paid on black friday. I would definitely recommend this to anyone setting up an echo of any type.

Currently using this device to control my entire media center including a tv, pc, blu-ray home theater, fire tv, wii-u, xbox one, xbox 360, and a 5 port hdmi switcher. One button push and it changes all settings necessary for the device to work within my system (eg- press the firetv button and it turn on the tv and switches to hdmi1 on the tv, turn on the blu-ray and change the input for sound to hdmi in, set the hdmi switcher to port 2, wake the firetv and return the user to the main menu in case another user left it on previously. All my other devices are just as easy to use and i was impressed with the level of functionality on my media center pc. Couldn't be happier.

I've had a pretty simple issue: too many remotes lying on the bed, getting lost, falling on the floor etc. . I've been using the harmony smart remote for about a week and my experience has been quite good. Reading about the complicated initial setup worried me a bit but i found it fairly painless. So far i've been using the included remote almost exclusively. The only time i used the phone app was to try it out. . I can only list a few cons that prevented the device from receiving five stars:. . 1) for some reason the remote occasionlly fails to turn on my sony 930d but that set (while having quite a nice picture quality) has been so quirky that i'm hesitant to blame the harmony. I may try to reposition the base one of these days. For now i'm keeping the sony remote on my night stand in case i have to power the set on. . 2) i only paid around $70 for this but i see it was released at well over $100. Why in the world would a setup at that price not include back lighting on the remote? . . 3) the buttons on the remote are too small. . 4) this is not really a con, but rather an observation. My only other smart remote was a harmony one that served me well for many years. I would take it wherever it was needed, all over the house: bedroom, den, home theater etc. I naively assumed that the harmony smart remote would allow me to do the same. It doesnt: every area needs it's own base station. . Besides the quirk with the tv no other component has ever failed to respond to the harmony smart remote. It seems to be high quality.

. Debra, Shropshire says

I was about to give up on harmony remotes. I have had two others over the years but battery issues were always a primary complaint and they always seemed to lose some of their programmed commands after awhile. I thought perhaps one that i could control with my iphone was worth a try. It was. The set up was very easy and it works flawlessly. I have comcast for my cable box dvr. The main problem with that remote is you can't jump forward in 30 second clicks but you can with this. You can rearrange and customize the layout. All commands downloaded automatically once the model number was entered. Ditto ease with dvd set up. You can download the application for your iphone and for your ipad. I actually prefer using my mini ipad as the remote, in portrait mode you have lots of room for gestures. It is also easier to see the favorite channels you can set up. Of course the best feature is you can hide all of you equipment behind cabinet doors. This works off your bluetooth connection so obviously you need a wireless environment. My equipment is actually in an entirely different room since i use a iogear set up so that i can move my tv wherever i want without hooking it up to anything other than the harmony. The harmony sits on top of the iogear box and works perfectly. The harmony comes with a ir repeater and you could use two if needed. The cord for this is a good length and you need it for actually turning on the tv( and in my case the sound bar) if the main box is buried behind closed doors. You can use your controlling device to make phone calls or surf the net without interfering with the remote and if you need to recharge one device you can simply switch to another. Great with my apple products, i cannot say if it works as well with android.

We were happily using the harmony 650 for a couple of years, but then we got a different media cabinet which made the line of sight issue a bit of a pain. Sometimes the harmony 650 would become "unsynced" with one or more of the components and confusion would ensue. This would happen if you didn't point the remote at the components long enough, or if a cat or a spouse walked in front the remote while you were doing something. So i looked around and found the harmony smart control. Since this remote doesn't rely on ir, no line of sight is necessary. It seemed like a good solution, and i'm so glad we purchased it, because it completely eliminated the problem we were having. . Our setup includes a television, an appletv, a blu-ray player, a wii, a mac mini (acting as a dvr and a server for the appletv), and a sound bar. With all these components, having one remote that does everything is a must. The 650 fit that bill pretty well, but it wasn't perfect. The harmony smart control is a little different from the harmony 650 in that it only has three dedicated function buttons and no screen on the remote. The three buttons can control six functions via short or long presses. This works out perfectly for our setup, because we mostly watch appletv, blu-rays, or live television. I assigned these three functions to the short presses and saved the long presses for the wii, viewing the mac mini on the tv, and bluetooth audio on the sound bar. I don't miss the screen from the 650 because it was rarely used, and if we need more functionality than the built-in buttons on the remote can provide (again, exceedingly rare), harmony provides a very useful app. . The app made setting up the remote a breeze. The most difficult part was hooking up everything and positioning everything correctly, and that still only took me about 10 minutes. I followed harmony's instructions for placement, putting the hub inside the media cabinet and the included mini ir blaster on top of the cabinet for the sound bar and television. I did pick up an extra set of ir emitter cables (calrad 92-152-2 dual ir flashing emitter) because our media cabinet has a fixed partition and we have components on both sides of it. Note these cables do require a 3. 5mm (1/4") to 2. 5mm (3/32") adapter. These were very easy to integrate into the setup. Once everything was connected, i fired up the app, imported the settings from the 650 from my existing harmony account, and was done in less than 10 minutes. Very, very easy if you already have a harmony remote. If you don't, i think the initial setup would take a bit longer, but the app seems fairly intuitive, assuming you have a basic understanding of which components do what. The remote itself is much smaller and thinner than the 650, and has fewer buttons overall. It's very comfortable to hold. . I would highly recommend this remote, especially for folks with enclosed media cabinets. It seems much more responsive than the 650.

This remote works great, i think the first universal remote that has worked on all of our devices. It is nice that you don't have to point the remote at the tv. I read reviews of being tricky to set up, i dissagree, mine programmed to my devices 1st try. Simple as logging into harmony and follow steps with your device model numbers.

This remote does everything. I have owned harmony smart remotes in the past. This one is by far my favorite. I prefer the simplistic included remote to the complicated touch screen remotes. The included mobile app is full featured, and even allows me to program my phillips hue lightbulbs with my settings. This remote does everything i ever needed and more. It controls my hdtv, xbox one, xbox 360, marantz sr6008 receiver, blu ray player, apple tv, and even a raspberry pi media server i set up. The setup is very easy using the my harmony software. . The hub, uses a wide range ir blaster, and i am able to control all of these devices with the hub alone, with the exception of the tv. All my devices are inside a media cabinet, and are controlled by the hub alone, i then run the included ir emitter through the wall, and have it velcroed to the bezel of my tv. It worked fine sitting below the tv, but i wanted to hide the cord. . I also needed to extend the length of the ir emitter, and this is easily done with any soldering experience. I cut the cable, stripped the ends, and soldered a length of wire to each of the inside connections. The extended length didn't effect the ir signal at all, and this solution worked perfectly for me. . Also this remote is extremely durable. My remote went through the washing machine, and after replicating the battery, it still works perfectly. . If you want to make your life more simple, get this remote. One button, and everything is powered on exactly how you want it. Its incredible.

Ok. This will take you about an hour to configure the first time. But it is well worthwhile. You see, this is a wireless system. The hub connects to your wifi. The mini-ir blaster connects to the hub via a long thin cable. The remote communicates with the hub via bluetooth. When you configure the remote via ios or android app, you create an account that allows you to seriously configure every function of your entertainment system. Be sure to know the brand of you devices (tv, dvr, amp, etc). Once you are done configuring, the hub sends all that data to your remote. Your remote is non-directional because it's bluetooth. When you work the remote (change channel, volume, input, etc), the hub sends data to the mini-ir blaster, which sends ir signal to the devices. If your tv or devices are old, and system doesn't recognize the brand, you can have the hub learn the remote buttons. There is a learning function where you point your old remote to the hub and it learns the commands. You do it via the app. . Very important: placement of the mini-ir blaster is key. It is omni-directional, so you can put it near the front of all your device ir receiver, and it will work. Do not put it behind any devices because the ir doesn't go through solids. Once you get this working, you will never settle for multiple remotes again.

Controls almost everything perfectly. The customizable buttons is awesome. Ir blaster and bluetooth hits all of my equipment. The only problem i have is when i use the control to activate/control my ps4, i cannot control anything else until i power cycle my logitech base. . Firmware is up to date and it has been known to be incompatible with the sony ps4 in the past. Problem doesnt occur randomly, it happens evertime it controls the ps4. After the 5th occurrence, i took the ps4 out of the controlled list. Not a problem for me since i use the game controller anyways.

Ugh i hate my tv. We have a smart tv so finding a good remote is near impossible. I was so excited wheni stumbled across this remote because i thought for sure it could be the one as it appeared to offer all the things i needed (tv, dvd, sound bar, chrome cast). I ordered this for my hubby for father's day and he was stoked. From the box it was a super easy install, really intuitive. Upon first use, it appeared to work all of my programs well. I did have a slight issue getting my sound bar to work but that was a user error, not remote. When i finally started to play with the remote, there was a glitch in it when we would be watching dvr. Every time i hit one of 4 select buttons, it would perform a completely unrelated function. Super frustrating. We tried to reprogram it and the issue continued. We ultimately sent it back. This was with comcast dvr. All other functions worked well so i don't know if it is an issue with the carrier or what. Either way, i'm back to multiple remotes.

I've used and loved harmony remotes for years. This one is very good in most respects, with a few nuisance issues. (hence, 4 star versus 5). . The good:. - the remote is very nice. Minimalistic, excellent layout, responsive, and just high quality overall. It has very nice balance when holding it, and seems much more responsive than my previous harmony remotes. - app remote. Handy if you always have your phone/tablet nearby, or want to control things from another room. - computer-free setup. Just use the app and your phone/tablet. . The annoying:. - app complexity. The app is definitely could be more user-friendly. E. G. , it shows a lot of buttons for devices you have, so you end up paging back and forth through screens to find what you want. It should allow customization to only display the bare minimum buttons, imoho. Other remote apps are more friendly, but maybe less functional. - customization. I miss the ability to easily customize key mappings. E. G. , there are a couple dish network keys we used extensively on the old harmony remote that simply don't exist on this remote, and i haven't been able to remap an key for them. - lack of help button/screen on remote. If you rely on the help button on the legacy harmony remotes, know it's missing on this. The app has some capability there, but the old help q&a approach to resolving issues was great for less technical people. - remote quibbles. It could really use backlighting! black keys on black remote with small buttons make it a big difficult to find things in the dark. Luckily, the layout is very intuitive - better than other harmony remotes, i think. Also, the remote is svelte, so it's easy to misplace/overlook. It could really use a "remote finder" beacon you invoke from the app.

I liked my $20 sony learning remote for the last 10 years. It worked with everything, and the macros did great for turning everything on and off at the same time. Alas, most of today's gadgets use bluetooth. I really didn't want to spend a fortune for a new remote, but decided to give this one a chance. The pictures of the remote do not do it justice. It looks and feels like quality. Setting it up was relatively painless. You are forced to use logitech's app. Honestly, i don't like it asking me what i want to do as opposed to what i want to turn on and off. It works with my tv, receiver, and roku. Most of the time, it is easier to use the app to switch between the game consoles and watching roku as the remote only has 3 macro buttons on the top that are too generic/assuming.

Incredible product. I have seen some people complain that it doesn't have launch buttons for streaming services, but i could care less considering that i was able to control my projector running a hdmi switch with optical output to my receiver. I have an agptek 3 to 1 hdmi switch that needed a bit of learning from the original remote, but it was so painless that i didn't mind. Everything else worked by model out of the box. The fire tv works flawlessly with the bluetooth control through the harmony base. I'm just mad that i didn't buy this years ago. I do wish there were a few more launch buttons if i integrate a couple game systems/streaming boxes/blu ray players/ or dvr boxes in the future.

So far after 1 day i like it. I've been patiently waiting for logitech to come out with a high tech remote that works good and doesn't have a huge price tag. I've been using harmony 550's throughout my house for several years but they had their limitations. Although very reliable and durable, the 550'sare not so easy to update. I read to many bad reviews on recent harmony remotes that it wasn't worth the high price tag investment. I'm loving the iphone app to work with my iphone5 and not having to plug in the harmony and connect to software to update. Doing everything wi-fi is the way it should be, the future. Seems like all great electronic products are moving to wi-fi and bluetooth. So far my only complaint with the harmony smart control is it doesn't work perfectly with roku 3. The controller is lacking the "home" button and a few others, but the basic functions work. I'll have to dig in some more, but i'm guessing i can assign functions on the controller. Here is a tip for everyone so you don't pull your hair out like i just did the last 4 hours of searching forums looking for a fix. My roku3 did not work at first. Only the hdmi signal going to the roku worked. After reading and trying everything posted on logitech's site, i finally realized my roku box was not getting the signal from the harmony hub, (although only 4 feet away). Other components (my center speaker) was blocking the signal. I plugged in the (included) ir cable sensor and put it next to my roku and it worked right away. Once i realized it was not a software issue, it was only a matter of moving a few things around to get a stronger signal from the hub to my roku 3. My other small complaint is the lack of backlit buttons on the remote. But the remote is laid out nicely and has a 1 year battery life without the backlit buttons. The designers made this remote very thin, there is no way it could be this thin with standard batteries thus not enough juice for backlighting. I suppose. Certainly there must be some led's out there that draw such tiny amounts of juice that even this thin battery could power? . . There has been great improvements in logitechs software this time around. Being around computers since back in the days of dos, i've seen a lot of logitech products come and go. Lately they have been a big disappointment. Especially with the revue, and other harmony's, but with the smart control remote they are on the right path again putting out a quality product. I really like the ease of setup with this remote and not having to plug in a usb cable to slowly make changes. Since logitech is offering the harmony at a very reasonable price, and it seems to work good and is easy to set up, i purchased a 2nd one. For this price point on online store i don't think you can go wrong with this logitech product. The iphone app and remote are nice, but the ease of setup through the app is what makes it a real winner. Also the myharmony. Com setup is a breeze as well if you don't have a smart phone.

Really happy with this purchase, been wanting one of these for awhile and the bf deal couldn t be passed up. Setup was straight forward, i started off with using my computer but jumped over to using the iphone to complete the setup. . Plugged everything in, i put the harmony hub on top of my bose cinemate, followed instructions, now i can tell alexa turn on the tv , it will fire up the tv, bose cinemate on and input to cbl-sat, and tivo turns on. It s awesome, was also able to get the samsung tv built in plex app with this device. . I added the sonos integration with this, so when i press the music button on the remote, the tv turns off and sonos turns on. Awesome!

You do need someone who knows their way around to set it up, but once it's all configured anyone can use even a complicated a/v setup without juggling 4 or 5 remotes. . I had a few issues with the setup, some of my equipment was not fully supported, but it's all programmable, this is more than just entering codes into a universal remote. Logitech took on a really hard problem, i'm not sure a perfect solutions is possible, but they got real close. Now that it's all working it's great, one button on one remote to change from cable tv to dvd to streaming services to radio and back. One volume control that always works no matter what's playing. . I put off buying this to replace my revue but now i'm glad to have it, a much better remote control, still rf wireless, and i don't miss the big keyboard.

This remote is fantastic. The programming options are endless. Updating on the fly with app is a great feature. I love the included remote because it has a nice feel and is easy to learn. A few cons: no back-light on the remote, app interface is a little bland, and some spotty connectivity issues. I've found that keeping the repeater visible helps but i'm still not really sure why that would matter if the connectivity is mainly bluetooth. . For the most part though, this is the best remote on the market.

This product is okay at best. I bought this to pair with my echo dot in hopes that i could use alexa to turn on my tv and put on a netflix/hulu show. . I ve synced harmony with my vizio tv and my apple tv. It only works on my vizio. It can turn on and off the tv, adjust volume, change inputs. However it is horrible with my apple tv even though my apple tv gen is supposed to be compatible. Ill try everything such as teaching the harmony remote the apple remote functions and it s never able to control anything on the apple tv. Don t bother getting this if your main streaming device is an apple tv. . Even for my vizio, it can get spotty. Sometimes it will respond when i want to turn on my tv, a lot of times it won t and i ll have to do the fix watch tv function. I want to say every 3 or 4 times i use harmony, i have to do the fix watch tv function. . Overall, i m very disappointed with the capabilities, the amount of troubleshooting required and the inconsistent performance.

I'm fairly tech savvy. Maybe slightly above average. I was able to set this remote up with no problems. I was online within 15 minutes and was blown away by this remote. I've had harmony remotes in the past, and they were nowhere near this easy to set up and i found them difficult to use. For some reason, i still point the remote at the tv even though that is not required. Old habit i guess. My girlfriend wakes up in the morning, opens up the iphone app and hits the dvd button and in the other room. The tv turns on, the dvd player turns on, the bose speakers turn on, the input is changed to dvd on the tv. And by the time she gets out there, her yoga booty ballet or whatever dvd's are ready to go. She loves it. . However! about a week in. It stopped working. The red light of death. I unplugged it, let it sit for a few minutes, and plugged it back in. Nothing. For a couple days it just wouldn't work. Wifi was working strong. I did a few trouble shooting techniques and decided to return it. Before i packed it up, it started working again. I've had that happen two other times since. Reading the forums, it appears to be an ongoing issue with users. For that reason, i can't recommend the remote. Very cool concept though and i hope an update in the future will fix the issue. I'm keeping it, because when it works it's amazing.

I expected more out of this product. After using this now for about half a year, i have found its function frustrating at times. My setup may be more complicated than others, but that is why i got it! it does work well most of the time, but when it doesn't, you will be looking for all of those remotes it is supposed to replace. Press a wrong button, say in the dark (the buttons do not light up), and everything is out of whack and needs resetting. Also, the smartphone app that accompanies this remote is pretty bad. Programming the order in which things takes place is also difficult, as custom commands cannot be inserted in the order in which you want in some cases. You may find yourself adjusting your system to fit this remote, which would be silly by anyone's measure, except maybe harmony engineers. In hindsight, i wish i had gotten the more expensive self contained version, which also contains rf ability, rather than the hub.

T. Elizabeth, Nevada

The product does work as advertised, but there are a few draw back that make this product only 3 stars for me. . Pros:. * works with iphone, ipad, android tablets. * works off of wifi and rf. It doesn't require the remote be aimed at the entertainment system and can work through walls. * can customs button functions on both the simple remote and on the iphone, ipad, android tablet. * the simple remote that comes with it has fairly good range. . Cons:. * although it sounds cool to control your entertainment system with your phone or tablet, it is annoying to have to keep unlocking the phone/tablet every time you want to fast forward, change channel, change volume, etc. * the package comes with one "simple" remote. There is no way to purchase an extra "simple". I called logitech and they said the only way to get another "simple" remote was to purchase an entire new system. The only other option was to buy another one of their remote models that cost +$100 (event though this entire package is less than $100). This is the issue that took 2 stars away from this product for me. . One more note:. The setup isn't too bad if you are into tech gadgets but would not recommend a non techie try to set this up on their own.

. Rose, Solihull says

I do like the remote, it feels really good in the hand and it isn't too heavy. Buttons feel like they should, everything as far as the remote goes is pretty good. . I did find it much easier to setup using my computer. Trying to do it with the ipad was clumsy and slow. With the computer, took me little to no time to get everything right. . My biggest complaint is there is no easy way to get everything back in sync. The remote thinks the tv is on but it isn't. Or it thinks the dvr is on but it isn't. With my old harmony remote that was not a big deal, devices dvr power on. Simple, 1 second fix. With this i have to pull out my phone or tablet, launch the app, go to settings devices dvr which button is it? what used to take 1 second is now a minute or more. . While i understand this is because there is no screen and no way to navigate some sub-menu, i think there should be a way to say "turn everything on" or whatever. . All in all, if you have a harmony remote and find things out of sync quite a bit, i wouldn't recommend this one. If that isn't a problem than this is a great remote.

H. Whiteman, Illinois

The ios app has problems to connect to the smart control in the same network. It works sometimes but others you need to connect thru the cloud (that is slower). The fact that you can connect thru the cloud shows that the problem is not caused by some kind of wifi interference affecting either the hub or the iphone/ipad, it is just something really wrong in how the app connects to the hub in the same network. Also connecting to the hub and switching activities is too slow (this with activities that don't need to send any ir commands to do the switch). I don't see technical reasons why the app couldn't be able to connect or reconnect to the hub in the local network in 1 second or less, or switching activities in the same time. Logitech needs to fix the smart control/app software.

Z. Alberta, Hertfordshire says

This remote was supposed to be the one ring of my entertainment system, but the firmware/software is in such a sorry state that it is constantly sitting there with a red light on it, needing to be power cycled. I've tried updating the firmware a few times. For a while, the upgrade wouldn't even complete, but even after it did, it didn't really fix the issue. When it works, it's great, but that's only about 75% of the time, which isn't a good average for this sort of product, i don't think.

Q. Erin, Sheffield

Honestly, this was a huge disappointment. . When linked with google home (which takes way too long and is not possible on a galaxy s7 by the way - had to use an iphone) the harmony smart hub worked 20% of the time, if that. I got so sick of harmony responding with, "i am not seeing an activity with that name. " or "sorry, there are no current activities on right now. " that decided to return it. . I would give this a 1 star rating but i feel that part of the blame is also on google's side as well. I found it annoying that each user registered on your google home was required to link to your harmony account individually. Google would constantly forget my voice when working with harmony and would frequently respond with "i am sorry but i don't recognize your voice, please re-sync in order to access harmony". . Just buy a harmony 650 or something else. The technology doesn't seem to be quite there yet for voice control on home entertainment but logitech's traditional universal remotes are still great. I have had my harmony 650 for over a year now and no complaints. Don't buy the smart hub.

U. Julia, City of London says

I'm a bit on the fence about this. I have it set up to control a tivo, a blu-ray player and vizio tv. Programming the remote was easy enough. The physical remote tends to be very very laggy. I've tried moving the hub to see if it's just a location issue. Sometimes it's faster. It doesn't control my tv so well just because the streaming services would require controls several steps deep to have full functionality, and frankly i'm not sure it would work even then. In that case i just use the tv remote which is ok. The phone remote is great, it rarely lags.

B. Jennifer, Doncaster

I returned it. I had problems keeping the hub connected to my wifi. I also had problems with it turning all devices on. I'm sure i could have spent some time fine tuning it, but i chose to return it for a harmony 650. The biggest thing missing from this remote is the help button which is present on most of the original harmony remotes. The help button resends the signals for anything that failed to work. My receiver seems to ignore signals a lot, so the help button provides a quick recover from that. Without a help button, i had to use my smartphone everytime something wasn't working. This was a pain when someone was using the remote and i wasn't home. The one thing i did really like was the size and feel of the remote.

I started out with a harmony 880. When it's buttons started failing i made a warranty claim and was sent an 890 as replacement. I was hooked on rf remotes. When the 890's buttons started failing, i started saving up for the smart control due to the app on the iphone with "soft" buttons. . Blah, blah, just like the other negative reviews for this thing. The design is beautiful. A nearly-perfect simple remote with great battery life and ergonomics to do most stuff, and an app to do the rest. My simple remote has been rock-solid. The app, not so much. . It is a total crapshoot whether or not the app decides to connect to the hub any time i decide to use it. . I have a roku with an app. That app connects quickly every time i open it, and reconnects quickly whenever i wake it from sleep. . The harmony app? nope. It finds the hub about 28% of the time. The rest of the time it tries to connect and can't find the hub. I've gone through all of the troubleshooting steps and logitech has no answer, even after months of trying to work with them in the forums ( others have the same issue and logitech just can't seem to figure it out. . I would totally recommend this remote to people who don't have any of the issues documented in these reviews (and there seem to be a lot of people who don't - i'm jealous). But logitech has not been able to make this a good product for me, and their unreliability makes me not recommend this remote.

G. Mable, Haute-Normandie

Great concept, but it is oddly cumbersome to set up as the app is laggy and the performance of the remote functions can be laggy. I've especially noticed that after the power on sequence for my tv and soundbar, there is a looooong wait time (20 seconds? ) before i can actually control the tv. Before you ask, there is no delay in the program sequence. I got this during a fantastic sale but am likely to return it. Loved the idea of being able to control all my av devices without line of sight to remote or via a phone app.

S. Audrey, Aquitaine says

I really wanted to like this remote. We had a harmony one for a few years and loved it, but it died due to the bloated battery issue. This one seemed to be exactly what i wanted, but it didn't pan out very well. . For one thing, it behaves inconsistently. For example, if the tv and receiver are both on, then pushing "off" won't turn either of them off. However, if we manually turn off the receiver, then the remote's "off" will turn off the tv. Huh? . Also, the range and angle on the secondary blaster are not great, which in our setup means that the remote has a hard time controlling the tv. Finally, the app is not as useful as i hoped, especially since it's really hard to use without looking.

R. Cindy, Champagne-Ardenne

You'd think in 2016 that these intelligent remotes could simply work as advertised. Wrong. This is my fourth logitech version of remote and every one has been disappointing. I keep coming back because there just doesn't seem to be any legitimate competition in the space. Too bad. . This one fails to turn on one of my devices sporadically and, other times, turns it off without permitting me to turn it on again. I end up having to keep all the original remotes nearby - as they're needed about every third time. Totally defeats the purpose.

. Stacey, Hampshire says

Love the idea behind this remote and when it works it's great. However, most of the time it loses connection to my roku and requires me to log in via my app on my phone and suddenly it starts working again. I also have a digital converter that it's supposed to support but even after adding it and removing it several times i still can't get the remote to work w/ it. For the cost it makes it less irritating but if i have to keep reaching for the remotes i was hoping to eliminate it makes this remote just another. Remote.

N. Mary, Arkansas

Remote has intermittent issues. It worked for a few days. Then it's a hit or a miss. Harmony hub also freezes (red light) every other day and requires restart. So when the hub works the remote didn't work. So overall it didn't work. I liked the fact that the alexa integration works really good. I would have loved this if the remote worked consistently. I like the logitech products, but this is not a logitech quality/reliability product. I can make it work (hub restarts, and re-configuring deives again); however, my family could not get it to work at all. Pros:. * works with alexa. * worked with my sony bravia tv, bose lifestyle 35, playstation 3, and roku 3. . Cons:. * intermittently remote does not work. * harmony hub freezes up every other day

W. Ruff, Harrow says

Certain cable providers in the los angeles area with a name that rhymes with "shmime shwarner" still provide ir-only remotes with their godawful dvrs. Not only are those horrible remotes ir-only, but they also have completely separate page up/down buttons, the world's most obtuse button layout, and size that requires moving your hand to get to different buttons. I know, i know, firstworldproblems, but for all the trouble i had with an east coast cable provider that rhymes with "shomcast, " at least their dvr/remote setup was logical. . I figured the harmony would be a solution to the remote problem, at least. The verdict? sorta. . The remote itself is really pleasant to hold. It's very thin and backed with a vaguely rubbery coating that makes it easy to grip. The buttons themselves have a very satisfying click, tactile feedback that's much better to use than a typical marshmallow-buttoned remote. I also really like the layout, and having a remote that's rf-based means i don't need to worry about aiming it at the device i'm controlling. . Setting everything up was about a 6/10, where 1 is pleasant and 10 is "should've hired someone. " my tv has a model name that is 16 characters long and it has to be entered, not looked up. Worse, the initial configuration never worked, so i had to run it at least twice per activity. It's cool that it works through an iphone app, but it would be cooler to do this on a real website with a real keyboard attached to a real computer. . Now that it's all set up, i have a different set of problems. If one device turns on but another doesn't, this remote doesn't offer an way to power on a single device, unlike the older harmony remotes that had device-specific controls regardless of what activity you're in. This means i can't stash my remotes in a drawer and forget about them, because i'll need them if one device doesn't fire correctly. . The worst thing, though, is the short press/long press split. I was excited to reuse the channel buttons as page up/down buttons in the channel guide, but the harmony isn't smart enough to know when the guide is in use, so my page up/down buttons had to be mapped to the long press, which means it takes a long time to make it through the guide. Additionally, the long press takes long enough that i accidentally short press the channel button in the guide, which changes the channel and exits the guide. I was really hoping the harmony would help override the miserable ui, but no such luck. With a smarter understanding of how the devices attached to the harmony work, logitech could push hardware manufacturers to build better software. . Despite only solving half my problems, i do like the remote, and i do like that it can be integrated with an echo using iftt to do things like turn the tv on and off.

I've had a few harmony 650s but after the second or third death over the years i decided to try out the hub. The remote on this one is terrible. Only three function buttons (music, movies, tv) and no discernable way to program buttons to do other functions (e. G. Roku stick). There's also no help button on the remote that i can find, so if things don't come on correctly initially, good luck. That would all be fine since there's a snazzy app and we could just ditch the remote and use our devices with all the associated functionality, we thought, after realizing what a "dumb" remote was included. Except that every time we use one of our apple devices to control the hub, the system stops working. I have to delete and reprogram the activity each time. It seems fine with my android device, but that device leaves the house with me regularly. Also, not having a decent remote leaves guests/sitters/etc. Hanging. I wish we'd gotten the better remote with the hub. It's a great idea in theory, but i miss my 650.

Everything installed easily and it looked like it was going to be a snap. But when i would change from "watch movie" to "watch tv" the av unit stayed in the dvd input setting. So, couldn't get my picture or sound to work. I think the problem is that the app doesn't have a complete list of my tuner's input options and so the remote can't be set up properly. I can see how this would be a really slick setup if it worked. Sending it back.

I got this for my dad, thinking at first the remote was backlit, but the ad shows the smartphone app. I quickly realized he would never use his phone that way, so i kept it. On the whole, it's an okay universal remote with the ability to add other smart features around your house to it. It seems to take 3-4 minitues to initially synch before you can use it to do anything but turn devices on and off. The remote is functional, but the app makes better sense if you are watching movies or tv in the dark. I have used it for several months now and to be honest, probably wouldn't buy it knowing what i do now. Maybe if i had more household smart features that i could use the app for it would be worth it. Otherwise stick with a backlit universal.

Logitech has designed this remote system around activities that control multiple devices at once. By doing so, they've made it more difficult to use it to control individual devices. This design choice also requires that only the logitech remote be used because using other remotes will confuse it by altering the starting state of each device. This focus around activities makes it impossible to directly modify buttons used by a remote. Devices have to first be combined into an activity and then the activity has to be opened to then make changes. There does not appear to be any way to change the app settings for a specific device. The only changes that can be made appear to be on the activity screen. Even though it's possible to go directly go to a device on a smartphone, there is no way to add or change any settings on that device's screen. The only allowed changes seem to be on the activity screen. . The good thing so far is that it overall seems to work. Time will tell if it will go out of sync as it has with other people. The physical remote is being used to replace an original one that went bad. The app is working fine on my android phone. Since everything is working off my wifi setup, the remotes don't require line of sight with the devices they're controlling. . The bad is mostly due to the irritating focus around the activity-centric focus of the device. The physical remote is hampered by not being able to control a single device and has a limited number of buttons on it. It cannot be used to simply turn on a blu-ray player. It has to be paired with a tv and turn both on at the same time. The app is similarly limited. Although individual devices can be selected, buttons on those devices cannot be modified. Modifications are only allowed on the activity screen. With limited buttons available on the smartphone screen, there's not much room to make changes on the activity screen since it is controlling multiple devices. Allowing button changes on the device screens would make things better. . The included paper foldout is useless. Even the downloaded pdf manual isn't very good. Internet searches are needed to figure out how to set up the device and how to change buttons. The first instruction to set up the device should have been to hook up the hub to the computer to update the firmware. Following the directions to set up the hub without connecting it to a computer failed to connect with the bluetooth on the smartphone. It wasn't till i hooked it up to the computer that i was able to get everything working. The pdf manual provides no details on how to change buttons, but there are other links at logitech's website that do. Those procedures should be added to the device's online manual. . This is a hard product to recommend. It was an impulse purchase on my part. I'm not finding the app terribly useful. Using a phone or tablet as a remote requires turning the device on, unlocking it, loading the app, and going to the screen for the specific remote wanted. That's a lot more steps than just grabbing the remote and pushing a button. The app is nice to have when a remote can't be found. I hate the activity focus of the remotes. Somebody more used to this way of grouping things on higher end harmony remotes will probably be comfortable and enjoy it. I doubt that a newbie will like it because it requires a different mindset. . I have so many different electronic devices with remotes in the living room that the activity design to an all-in-one approach doesn't work for me. I'm not looking to combine every remote into one remote. I do too much multitasking for that to be a solution. I'm not suggesting that logitech do away with the activity design approach as much as provide a means to additionally accommodate users who want to use this device to individually control and customize the eight different remotes that it is designed to handle. To that extent it would be useful for the physical remote to have an additional function button that could be pressed once and then hit a numeric key to access an individual remote. The app needs a means to directly change buttons on the individual remotes. . It would be nice to make the smart control work with windows phones. A lumia 520 can be bought for $30 and used as a mini-tablet without activating it as a phone. That would make it a nice inexpensive universal remote as well as a great little tablet.

Very frustrating. This remote was supposed to help with less frustation of having to use many remotes. The most unpredictable remote i have ever programmed. Once you program one thing something else doesnt work. Going to delete and start all over and will let you know.

Been using harmony remotes for years, and i tried to replace my 700 that the dog chewed, but this one doesn't want to change the input on my sony receiver like the last one did. Had to do a manual ir copy but it still doesn't work as reliably as my 700. Lastly, the whole reason i bought this was to integrate with our online store echo and they don't talk to each other. I've tried everything. Configured my echo with the harmony skill and both are on the wifi but no luck.

This item is complete junk! i was unaware that online store would not replace or refund this product. Very disappointed in the product and online stores customer service. The iphone application user interface is horrible the include universal remote cannot be programmed it uses the application to somehow transfer setting from the app to the remote you have no idea what buttons it assigns. I programmed my tv, soundbar and direct tv receiver when i hit the power button it powers up the tv and the soundbar when you hit the button to power on the direct tv receiver it powers off the tv/soundbar and vice-versa you have to manually turn on the receiver or tv . This product also changes the bias lighting on my tv and the led lighting throughout the house mysteriously every time the unit is powered on, i had not even tried to set this up to control my lights it just does it on its own. I am a longtime user of logitech mice and trackballs with no issues. This was my first harmony purchase and could not be more disappointed yuck!

First, i use a mac. Setting up this remote uses programs that look far to much like they were ported from windows, and the program seems to seize at odd times. . Also being bluetooth capable, it's very odd that it can't/won't control bluetooth devices. . You can also 'import' your existing setup, but only from certain remotes which excludes practically all of the 'lesser expensive' models, inconveniently. . All in all, i *hope* it works for us. We are juggling remotes due to a harmony 1100 dying, and there being essentially no support for that very expensive remote. . One gripe: this product was 'sold by online store'. We need another ir blaster, but they are all, oddly, sold by other companies. Is it that hard for online store to support that products accessories by selling them too?

Useful if you want to be able to control your media center with your phone. However, the programming of activities that are intended to control multiple devices at the same time is awful. It has no problem controlling any of my devices independently, but when i set up and program an activity like "watch tv" which is supposed to turn on the tv, tune to the correct input, turn on the soundbar, and cablebox, things go haywire and i end up having to do it all manually anyway. It's also super irritating that it forces my soundbar into a search mode to find the correct input everytime i turn it on, when the soundbar does not ever need to change input. I would be happy if the app would allow me to program activities button by button instead of forcing me into it's wizard that is doing multiple unnecessary things.
