Review for super hd dual band wifi wireless

Price was $84.99. This is the 4th camera i've tried and the first that is "good enough" for outdoor use. Others i tried were:. Ezviz husky outdoor hd 1080p - terrible software and closed system so you can't use other software. Dericam outdoor wifi wireless ip security camera, bullet ip camera, full hd - terrible software get's locked up so that you have to remove the camera from it's mount outside and do a hardware reset and reconfigure frequently. Stealth cam g42 no-glo trail game camera stc-g42ng - very narrow field of view, often fails to trigger even with massive scene changes. . The good about this camera:. Much better resolution than the others - i can read licence plates at 40' with good light for example. 5gig extremely helpful - see explanation below. Software is just ok - which is miles better than the others. Compatible with 3rd party software. . The bad:. Very klunky mechanically. Allen screws, things that bump into each other so it's hard to position correctly, etc. Can't turn the ir lights off when in night mode. (see below). Ir lights very focused in the center and quite weak - even weaker than others i tried. Ir lights attract bugs that force it to record all night - common to all cameras when you use internal lights. To get adequate software performance i still ended up buying blue iris software. . General thoughts on setting up an external security camera:. . *if you have moving plants (or shadows from moving plants), it will be hard to avoid constant recording. I was only able to get good results by purchasing blue iris software. * once you use 3rd party software, the whole system depends on sending a constant stream of video all the time - so 5gig is a must. It has more bandwidth and more channels, so you can put the camera/s on their own channel that does not interfere with your normal wifi use. I decided to get a second cheap ac 5gig router so i could give the cameras their own channel. . * the whole idea of ir lights in the camera seems convenient, but it's really a bad idea. It attracts bugs directly in front of the lens then illuminates them super brightly which constantly triggers recording which makes recording useless. The ir light should be an outboard unit well away from the camera. Not being able to turn the ir lights off is a problem with this camera. I'm struggling to fully block the light from the internal leds - i've only been partially successful.

I wanted to wait a couple of months before writing a review of this camera. So far, it has exceeded my expectations. For a few years now, i have had a number of outdoor ip cameras and this is the latest in a string of wifi ones that i've deployed. I'm using the 5ghz band for this as i have another brand of wifi camera installed close to it and that one is on 2. 4ghz and i wanted to minimize interference. The daytime and nighttime images are stunning. My only (small) complaint is that i prefer 15fps recording, but unless you fiddle with the settings on this such that the image is very bad, it will default to 8fps when nighttime comes. It's not that big a deal, but two of my other ip cameras record at 15fps 24/7 and i do wish for that with the reolink. Maybe a future firmware upgrade will provide that, i keep hoping. As for the wifi signal, my camera is approximately 40 feet from my router (asus rt-ac1900p) and the signal passes through an outside wall. I have no issues at all with this. The setup and config for this camera, like the rlc-410, of which i have 5, is the best i've run across. An app is provided to configure, but you don't need it at all. Just use your browser and go directly to the ip and that's all you need. Once you're there, it's very intuitive and you'll have your camera set up in just a couple of minutes. Reolink seems to be very interested in keeping their cameras running as best as they can and firmware updates are issued pretty often. Uploading them is a cinch with the onboard, web-based interface. I would recommend this camera for several reasons, but the price, ease of setup and quality of image are at the top of my list. Best super hd dual band wifi wireless | Reolink Digital Technology Co Ltd-Surveilance Systems Review ( Apr 2020 ) Reviews Reolink RLC-410WS 4MP Super HD 2.4/5Ghz Dual Band Wi-Fi Wireless Security IP Camera, Fixed Bullet with 16GB Micro SD 4mp super hd home security day/night: capture live videos 24/7 in 1440p high resolution with night vision of 100ft. also supports 1080p, 720p. 80 degree viewing angle enables a large and wide view.. I researched pretty long before i bought this and i am happy with it so far. One piece of advice is to spend more on more storage space. Never want to run out. Other than that the camera has good resolution, emails me just fine, and i have crappy internet speeds but it still will let me stream. Came with a long cord (expected as that was a selling point). I advise to spend time fine tuning your sensitivity settings as i had ton of email alerts until i got it tuned in now where i will receive 10 a night because of bugs or snow/rain. I admit it has great setting options that lets you decide different sensitivity at different times of the day. And also let s you mask out areas in case it s a high traffic zone. The night vision is pretty limited as i have a large driveway and can see about 30-40 out into the darkness. This lost a start. It is a good piece of equipment for what is at stake, i feel better knowing there is some surveillance. I have not tried any audio features. The app has worked fine for me as well as the desktop, i advise use the desktop to do more setting up. . Overall i m happy with the purchase and the next one i get will just have more storage. -. • I've purchased several of these to replace older cameras made by another company. There is a lot to be said for these cams and almost nothing on the downside. The software is also good and it's free. What i like about this particular model is that it has a builtin mic and it works well. I use the cams not just for security, but also for watching wildlife like birds and other things that move through my flower beds and yard. These cams are newly installed, and i'm very pleased. I'll amend this if there are problems i don't now see, but it is obvious someone put a lot of time and effort into designing and constructing these cams.
  • I needed a weather proofed wireless camera for my weather station, so this is being used as a 'weather cam' rather than a security camera. It seems to be a nicely built quality camera and it was very easy to set up. I have it mounted on a shed out in my backyard and it's been running constantly for almost a month now. To date, i have not had any dropped connections and the video is very good. I'm very happy with this camera and hope it continues to provide me with what i need for a long time go come. If i ever need to purchase another camera, i'll definitely buy another one of these. Good unit.
  • Important update:uupdate. If you register this camera within 90 days then the warranty will apply. I guess the buyers of this product need to tell other buyers about this very important fact. : if you buy this from online store, the 2 year warranty is basically worthless, reolink will not take a return when you buy it from online store. . You must update the firmware and the software, wifi would not work untill i did the updates. This is one of the easier ip cameras to set up.
  • I've adjusted the sensitivity settings all the way down to zero, and yet i still get alarms all night long, perhaps from bugs flying by? it seems to attract bugs at night. So i have to basically turn off alarms and emails in hours when it's dark, which is annoying because i was hoping to catch some wildlife walking by. During the day it seems to detect motion from vehicles leaving my property, but it never wakes up to those arriving. It works, it's just not as smart as i expected it to be.
  • Always get "connection failed" message on my iphone app. I keep trying and it finally connects, but this requires several minutes. Also, the stream is not hd, must use in "fluent" mode which is sd. Other web cameras on location have no trouble connecting and streaming hd. . The "connection failed" problem is common as indicated on the reolink bulletin board. It's getting worse and seems to be only when using a phone on the cell system. Speculation is that there is a latency problem when sending real time video over the cellular network. Reolink has not fixed this problem despite complaints for at least six months.

super hd dual band wifi wireless Reolink RLC-410WS 4MP Super HD 2.4/5Ghz Dual Band Wi-Fi Wireless Security IP Camera, Fixed Bullet with 16GB Micro SD (Switch to Mobile/Desktop Version)

Review update sept. 27, 2016:. Finished mounting this at the front of my property, here is a night shot. To be fair, there is some additional light from my dusk to dawn. . Review update! this now rates as a five star in my opining i. E. Price vs performance. By contacting the seller i was able to find a setting which was buried in the user menu, sound now functions. Additionally, i changed the lens setting (i did not realize that could be done) and now, at least the night video quality is very good (see the black and white photo). If it goes negative on me, i'll be sure to update again. . Let me begin by saying, the camera and the app work ok although you will need to devote some time to configuring it all. I'm not going to repeat what others have said here relative to the bad instructions although the quick start sheet, i felt, was ok. One difficulty i encountered was working past the user name and password on multiple devices so be careful if you are configuring both desktop and smart phone. I suggest setting your system up with the factory settings and then go in and change it all, especially if you are using both smart phone and computer devices for viewing. Name the camera(s), such as camera 1, 2, 3 etc. To begin. . Now then, my thought process for the three star rating. The video is not particularly good at a distance, say in a driveway shot, however, it's ok for closeup viewing such as looking at your front door or in a hall etc. The firmware upgrade was easy to perform, remember to reboot the camera and format the disc. Software for the mac works just fine. I paid close attention to the description of this product as i particularly wanted sound. Below is pasted the product description, it clearly states it has audio function, yet once configured the app tells you "not supported". This is a seller issue but since i had planned on ordering one camera with sound and another with the zoom feature, now we'll see how the seller handles this situation. So i may be back and modify the rating. "camera specifications. Video quality: 4 megapixel (2560 x 1440). Lens: f 4. 0mm, f 2. 0. Viewing angle: 80 . Microphone: yes (audio within 15ft). Night vision: up to 100ft (depends on the environment). Frame rate: up to 30fps. Operating power: 12v. Network: 802. 11ac/b/g/n, support 2. 4g and 5. 8g. Wifi signal range: 300ft in open space. Storage: built-in and fixed 16gb mirco sd card. Network connectivity: p2p and qr code. Computer os: windows, mac os. Mobile os: ios, android. . Attached picture is a shot inside my breezeway where it's quite clear. When i took it outside to the mounting area, the images looking back at the house were not as good. . No, i am not a paid reviewer who receives free stuff. Thanks for looking!

Once you get past the setup (especially the email) it works great. . I've had the camera about a month and after some initial setup weirdness ( worked out by trial and error with the help of tech support, which was very responsive ), i can only say it works extremely well. I'm happy with the performance. The motion detection is very sensitive but can be tweaked to a point. ( rather be too sensitive than not. ) if i could add a feature it would be two way audio communication. . It's now march 2018. Very pleased with the camera, works great. The annoying middle of the night doorbell ringing has ceased . . . Yea!"

REOLINK 4MP HD Pan/Tilt 2.4/5Ghz Dual Band WiFi Indoor Wireless Home Security Camera C1 Pro

Check out the other reviews for how great this camera is. They are true, it is great! what impressed me most is the care and attention reolink puts on the little things. First of all, the cameras come packaged very carefully with extra padding so they are extra safe in shipping, this should help avoid problems down the road. The cameras are very easy to use and set up but i did have a few questions and i was impressed by how quickly, friendly, and accurately they helped me out. The problems were all on my end. Things i had messed up on my computer, but where other companies would tell me "figure it out yourself, we can't help" the support staff at reolink took great care of me. If you have any concerns about this camera put them aside. If you can't decide between this one and another brand, buy reolink because they will take care of you the way they have taken care of me. And, just in case you are wondering. No i do not work for them and am not affiliated with them in any way.

The F.A.Q. for reolink rlc-410ws 4mp super hd 2.4/5ghz dual band wi-fi wireless security ip camera, fixed bullet with 16gb micro sd

i've gone through about 4 sets of 'highly rated' online store ip cameras and i think i'll be keeping these. The directions are pretty straight forward, the app and client software for your phone and computer are very intuitive and i could have gotten by without the directions probably. The quality is a little lacking with it only being 720p, but where mine are the area of recording is only 20-30 feet away so that not too shabby. The nightvision is better than most too i would say, i have no problem seeing 40 feet away from my garage at night. Overall i would recommend this camera for someone wanting some piece of mind on a budget. Adjusting the camera on the mount can be a little tricky with the antennas so you want to make sure you have it pointed right before screwing it into the wall. Only issues i'm having is the range of the wifi. I have a top-notch archer 2. 4ghz/5ghz router that is only about 60 feet from my farthest camera and i'm having signal issues. There is only 1 exterior wall between the 2 also so that shouldn't be an issue - for comparison i can connect to wifi with an old 3g iphone from my garage no problem. For now it works but i may purchase a wifi extender down the line. Pros:. - very easy to setup compared to other ip cameras of the same price range. - clear directions for installation, iphone app, and computer client. - comes with plenty of power wire for installation. . Cons:. - range of wifi isn't 100' like stated. Maybe if there are zero obstructions but come'on. - antennas can block adjustment screws for swiveling. - motion alarm goes off for shadows from tree branches on ground no matter sensitivity setting. Still working on this one.

I am in tech support, so wasn't afraid of the other reviews that talk about the setup being a little difficult. And i agree, it did take a few hours of playing around to get it just right. To its credit, you can get it working in 10mins, but to get all the settings correct it takes some time. Plus i found the audio setting would never save via mobile app. I literally had to load software on my pc just to get to audio setting to turn on and save. The other negative is the way power cable comes out of this with 3 cables/sockets (power, switch, ethernet), so you have quite a big hole to drill to get all that through, and then you need to consider hiding all that in a junction box on other side or live with the look of that. That might be a problem for installations where getting cables through walls is not easy. . But the reason i really do like this, is that its wireless, and built in sd card, making it a unit you can make totally standalone so long as you get the power to it. No need for a recording box. I left running for a week and the sd card was only just filling up. And for my use, i am thinking that anything that goes wrong, is something from that day or overnight, so as long as i can look back at past 48 hrs, i can't imagine ill ever need to worry about not having days and days of recordings to look through. I also love how you can search for the day and time you want to search so can quickly identify the events you want to recall and replay. Plus of course, as of nov 2016, this is one of the highest definition cameras out there, certainly at this price point. . Even though first unit was a learning curve, i am confident that setting another one up will now be a snap, so that is waht im doing. Buying 2 more to complete me setup. If they could have simplified the cables, remove the bugs in the mobile app, and increased the sc card size i would have given it 5 stars.

Needs 6 stars. The picture is great and the setup could not be easier. The andriod software works fine. And one feature that is the top of my list is you can easily search past alarm notifications. You can also email video and not just a pic like most cameras. The firmware is great and easy to use. Not the cheapest camera, but by far the best. I'm ordering 2 of the dome cameras. . Night picture is also great.

Tl; dr: pretty decent overall product for $100, but fixed size internal sd is absurd, passing giant plugs through a wall is annoying for a wifi camera, and the wifi could be better. I installed mine since i needed a camera setup asap, however, so mine's here to stay unless it dies or gets stolen. . Pros:. - 1440p 30 fps 8 mbps data rate! this really is the sweet spot for security camera resolution vs file size. 4k is just a bit too large to be practical with today's sd card sizes, and 1080p really isn't enough detail to read license plates or make out faces at reasonable distances away. - claims to be "waterproof" and after inspecting the assembly, it seems to be well sealed including a rubber gasket on the base to keep water out of the hole you drill in the wall to pass the cables through. Mine is installed under the eaves of my roof line so it's not in direct rain so i'm not relying heavily on it being waterproof. - dual band wifi, both bands work fine on my unit, but reception of wifi networks could be better on both bands, especially with 2 external antennae (more on that in the cons). - image quality and frame rates are really pretty great for the price. Night vision on some cameras is often so low of a frame rate that anything moving is just a blur, but this one is acceptable in the area of 15 fps. - software has enough features to set up a good auto-recording motion-detection system inside and outside of my place, including custom zones for motion detection. . Cons:. - 16gb internally-mounted micro sd card is pathetic for a 1440p camera 8 mbps ( 1 mbps), which leaves you just barely over 4 hrs of recording. Depending how busy of a street you live on or how many squirrels run through the camera in a day, you may find that your morning recordings are gone before you even get home from work. Other reviewers said they were able to open the camera up and install a 64gb card, but that might void your warranty. If you use another device to record the streamed footage, then ignore the sd card size, but reolink really needs to offer larger sizes or make it removable like on their other cameras. - wifi reception is a bit embarrassing for having 2 external antennae. My cell phone has no external antennae and holding it right next to the camera i was able to get double digit mbps download speeds but the camera struggles to find 1 bar of either band from my wifi extender. 2. 4ghz wifi band cannot stream smoothly to your pc with 1-2 bars but the 5 ghz band is just barely smoother but generally has 1-2 fewer bars because it doesn't pass through walls as well. - ethernet plug and reset switch are giant plastic knobs on the power cable bundle that you are supposed to pass through a hole in the wall. This is just absurd for a wifi camera, and i was unable to enlarge the hole in my brick garage wall to fit them both, so they're both taped up and hanging next to the camera, which is a security risk. For a wifi camera they really shouldn't have these giant plugs attached to it. Perhaps have the back of the camera screw off and there be an ethernet plug, reset switch and sd card slot accessible inside the camera for initial setup, then completely covered when the camera is outside and only have a single power cable needing to pass through the wall. - software has very little documentation, and while much of it is pretty intuitive, some of the modes like "smooth" vs "clear" have basically no information and you'll just have to switch around and see what looks best to you.

This is a nice camera. I have it configured to cover my driveway and a portion of my front yard. We live across from a school and have issues with frequent traffic pulling into our front yard when turning around. I've used the camera to capture evidence to convince city officials to make some traffic engineering changes to out street. . The camera provides a nice, high-quality image in daylight hours. At night, the image is still quite good, though some features are washed out. I think this may be because we have a motion-sensor light mounted and this lighting affects the infrared night vision of the camera. Even so, the video quality at night is good. . I have the camera configured to send images and videos to a ftp server over my home network. I like that the camera also has a 16gb card for local storage in case of network failure. I may get another one or two of these.

I didn't know anything at all about home security cameras, but i wanted to set up a system at home. I had several areas inside and around my house that i wanted monitored with different requirements. For example, i wanted two way audio in some areas, wifi in others and finally poe in others. Because of this, i was convinced that operationally and economically it would be best to use a consolidation program like ivideon or blue iris in conjunction with several different brands of cameras. I spent hours, perhaps days, tinkering with different programs and different brands of cameras. I would have saved myself so much frustration if i just found the reolink brand of cameras first. I tried pretty much every consumer based model on online store and jet including amcrest, oco, fdt, zmoto, and more! one thing that was really tough is that i realized quickly that it is very hard to trust the reviews i found on online store. Obviously i don't have proof, but it just feels like so many of the reviews are not real. I set up all these cameras with the intention of keeping them, but one thing or another just didn't work. Either the wifi would drop way too often, or the camera would not integrate with other software or the built in software was simply not intuitive. . If i would have just went straight to reolink i would have saved myself a lot of frustration. I am now running 6 different reolink cameras and i ditched the idea of using a different program to manage the access and recordings because the reolink software is so good. I have 3 poe cameras, 2 wifi, and one 2-way audio version in my kitchen that i absolutely love. I access all of these cameras on my desktop and on my android device and i have never had an issue with them. Clear pictures, solid wifi, etc. I have my desktop set up as somewhat of a server. With the reolink client running i can have the motion alerts active and record anything that moves on my hard drive. In addition, when you have a version of the camera that has a built in smart card, you can access camera recordings from anywhere via the reolink software on your android (and presumably iphone) device. . In conclusion, i really wish i would have just bought reolink products right out of the gate and saved myself the time and frustration. I know it's hard to trust online store reviews these days, but for what it is worth i did not receive anything for this review and everything i said above is my truthful experience. Hope it helps.

After trying several slightly less expensive cameras, and being disappointed i decided to spend the extra $30 and get this one. It did not disappoint. The material itself seems sturdier and less likely to rust, two antennas keep it connected to my wireless and the installation and set up were seamless. Even after i put the apps on my phone and tablet i only had to wait for it to say the login failed, double click and enter the password i set and both were showing great pictures. Updating to 5 stars as i figured out - accidentally - how to view the pic in full screen. Tap on the camera icon in the upper left, gives you a screen with options for number of screens to view, vicdeo, screenshot, etc. Then just turn your device sideways and get a full screen! great picture too. All that said, i plan to buy another for the back yard now that i've seen it in action!

hardware build on this is solid as it should be for outside use. In live view mode it is crystal clear during daytime. The attached daytime photo snap shot loses resolution but this is normal. Most of the time you want video anyway. I use the web interface the most because i prefer the layout better than the reolink clients even though mac os and ios clients are installed. Although i'm not running a an nvr (yet), reolink supports open onvif so i can use several 3rd party software setups which take advantage of existing computers in the household. The one bothersome thing about this camera is the cabling. There is a pigtail type cabling arrangement that includes a factory reset button, ethernet cable and power. Because of the ethernet cable (which can't be removed), you'll have to drill a 3/4 size hole at minimum to get "all" wired inside the building. Ios client works well but is iphone size only and running apps on ipad doesn't work as well because of aspect ratio. The attached night video won't show up well due to compression but viewing from camera meets my needs. Motion detection and microphone pickup well.

I wanted to point out, for anyone like me who did not realize this at first, that your wifi does not have to be on, in order for the camera to record. You need the wifi to get notifications and to play back the video, but not to record it. Ok, having said that:. . After some initial problems getting this set up, everything has been smooth so far. The camera is mounted over our front door and connected via wifi to our router which is located through several walls. I will say that the mac version of the software is not very intuitive and the instructions reolink provided when i asked a question about it were wrong! if you are using the mac version and you want to change configuration, you must right-click on the device (where it says "login successed" - reolink might want to correct that in future updates) and choose "remote config". We had to turn the camera sensitivity way down during the day, as it was picking up motion from outside the range we wanted. This was a bit of a hassle to do until we caught on to how to change the squares (that will make sense once you look into it - it's alarm motion - area). . The ios app was working fine until 2 days ago, for no apparent reason it stopped sending notifications. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and that seemed to fix it.

Fantastic cameras once you get them set up. . 1. Connect via ethernet first to set up wifi. 2. Update the firmware! . . As the other reviewers noted, you can't configure wifi until you've connected via ethernet (blue cable) first. I did that and then wasted 5 hours fighting the wifi settings, with no luck. I tried renaming my networks, removing security, disabling mac filtering, 2. 4ghz and 5ghz networks, but nothing worked - until i went back, read the other reviews again, and realized i needed to upgrade the firmware as other reviewers had done. After that, presto! both cameras immediately connected to my wifi on the first try. Duh. . Now i'm super happy that these really solid, cool looking cameras are purring away recording video over wifi. They seem very well built. The included software works well for my needs so far too. Next step is to mount them outside and set up my recording preferences. I'm very excited because i can monitor them from my pcs and my phone using the reolink software. These have a ton of functionality for a great price and i love the way they look too. . Update: 1 year later, these are still working great. I just ordered another one because i know they work well on my network.

Build quality/cam housing: 3. 5 / 5. Mounting assembly: 2 / 5 (hard/impossible to adjust the cam to a desired angle with some hex screws being in the way of the antennas. ). User manual & software setup: 2. 5 / 5 (unclear on how to save motion-triggered videos, no way to specify the number of snapshots, no way to change the recorded file name prefix). Tech support: 4 / 5 (tech replies were within 24 hrs, but effective. I had to download and upgrade the cam to a newer firmware from reolink website. ). Video quality: 4 / 5 ( clear and with details, but color is not so vibrant, compared to the panasonic bl-vp104 and the amcrest ip2m-841). Audio recording: 4 / 5 (big plus, hard to find one among bullet outdoor ip cam). Night vision (motion) 2. 5 / 5 (fast moving subjects were rather blurry). Night vision (static): 4 / 5 ( quite clear & with good details ). Motion-triggered recording: 4 / 5 (not as good at night. But the configuration allows different sensitivity level on specifiable time frames, seemed to help reducing excessive false alarms; 4 user defined time frames. ). Ability to save recorded video files onto both sd card & ftp server: 4 / 5 (so you can save all the recorded videos&snapshots in a remote ftp server, even though your ip cam gets stolen - with the sd card on it. ). Ability to change sd card: 2 / 5 (i think it's not designed to have the sd card change by consumer. It's quite tricky to replace the sd card; but it can take 128gb card if formatted with fat32 - see pictures. Keep in mind that fat32 has some limits: max file size: 2g, max number files: 65, 517. To format the sd card, use the mac "disk utility" - see pictures. On windows, i think you can use some other free utility - google it. ). Dual band wifi support: 4. 5 / 5 (with dual band wifi router, you can specify a band for all your ip cams, while having the other for your computer, laptops, phones, etc. This is to avoid wifi bandwidth being used up by all the ip cams, leaving your laptops and phones stranded! ). Price & functionality: 4 / 5 (i would pay more to get a version with 128gb sd card; it would save me time - taken about 30 minutes - and hassle to do it myself. ). Durability: unknown; just been using it for about 3 weeks. It has not crashed even once; pretty reliable so far. . Updated info (12/12/2016): i have just found out that, after having the 128gb microsd card set to record motion for a little over 21 days, the ip camera stopped recording any motion, while my ftp server still receives uploaded videos for all the detected motions. The card still has about 22 gb available; and i have 'overwrite' option checked all along. Then i tried to "init" the card, which effectively deleted all the files on it. Now, it starts to record motions again! so, that is the issue with using 128gb (no overwrite possible - and it can only record up to 100gb). Current firmware version running on the cam is v2. 0. 0. 476 16111703. Hopefully, reolink will fix this issue in later firmware release (to have the overwrite function works on 128gb card).

Great product at a very reasonable price. Fast shipping and great customer support. The camera comes with a connector for the hard wired cat-5 cable but doesn't come with a cap to protect the connections from the rain. I contacted reolink and they eere able to send the cap, they call a waterproof lip, for $8. It does provide more protection from rain, but their customer service was very responsive. The camera is sharp and easily customizable. So far, a perfect, low cost solution for my needs. While this model doesn't have an optical zoom, you can enlarge the image in the app, if necessary.

. Gina, York

These cameras are great quality and resolution at an inexpensive price. The best deal i found on the web. Bought one to try out and then added a second and later a 3rd to spread out cost. Connecting to the cameras is a breeze - just use the uid code for each camera in the windows app or android or iphone app and the app finds the cameras - inside your lan or on outside world over the internet. No need to mess with firewall nat rules or a ddns service. No need for an nvr since about 2 weeks worth of video clips are stored on an sd card in each camera which you can pull up on the app and download - and/or you can set the windows app to stay open in the background and download video clips to your hard drive so you can keep them as long as you want (you can set the amount of gb you want to store and old videos will drop off so you don't run out of disk space). . I blocked out bushes and other objects that move in each camera so the motion activation doesn't kick in and cause it to start recording. Video quality as great during the day and acceptable at night but moving objects are a bit blurred at night (still not bad for $100 cameras). . Occasionally one or more cameras will stop displaying in the app and i have to click a button to reconnect to the camera or close and reopen the app - but no big deal. . Overall i would highly recommend these cameras.

E. Diana, Kent says

So far this camera has surpassed my expectations. No wireless disconnects as i had feared and i love that we can use 5ghz! dual antennas and a compact design is nice. The only 5ghz on the market from what i understand (dec 2016). Installed in same spot as my old camera and it blends in so much better. I use 1080p at 2mp versus the full 4mp resolution. It seems clear enough and the latency is minimal. Set at 30fps with no issues. . Update. Issue with rtsp and blue iris was resolved via blue iris update so increased from 4 to 5 stars. No more power cycling the camera to fix it. I am about to order another one. May get the 411ws with zoom capability.

I. Cunningham, Dorset says

For the most part, the camera works as expected. However, i am only giving it 4 stars for the following reasons:. . 1) the power, reset, and rj45 connectors are not weatherproof. I had to seal each connector with heat shrink material in order to keep rainwater out. For an outdoor camera, i shouldn't have to do this. 2) the windows version of the client software is flaky at best. It crashes at least once a day and has to be restarted. The mac os 10 version is stable, as is the ios version. 3) the date/time stamp on the os 10 version is in the incorrect format. March 02, 2018 is shown as 02/03/2018 instead of 03/02/2018. It took me some time trying to figure out why it was displaying incorrectly. 4) manufacturer needs to have someone that is fluent in the english language proofread all documentation prior to release. It is frustrating to read documentation that is not clear due to grammatical errors or misspelled words. Minor example: "login successed" instead of "login successful. "

Y. Sherry, Western Australia

This is one of the clearest, highest resolution cameras that i've used. I currently have it on our front porch mounted on the ceiling. It's held up well through chicago winters and performs quite well. . Pros:. - really good night vision, provides a clear picture at night. - easy to set up. - small form factor. - stable, does not require regular restarts. . Cons:. - doesn't take advantage of 5ghz wifi if your 2. 4 & 5 ssids are identical (which is the case with eero, google wifi, etc. ). - no "snapshot" url to directly access jpg feeds. I like being able put feeds directly into a web page with a video tag using the mjpeg url on foscam cameras. - rtsp stream can be choppy and doesn't always decode well on ffmpeg. I get a lot of errors in the log about stream errors. - requires proprietary plugins on your browser. This seems to be a trend with every camera manufacturer where you need to install plugins. No one has built a pure html5 interface yet

I have now installed two reolink rlc-410ws wifi security cameras. Both are connected to my netgear orbi router at 5g. Rating the product is a bit difficult. I. E. It's a "5" except for a couple of issues. . There are basically three ways to install security cameras:. . 1. Wired for power and signal back to a central point. "power over ethernet" (poe) provides both power and signal within the same cable. The big issue is finding a pathway from the mounting location for each camera back to that place. If you have a two story house, brick walls, etc. This can be a major undertaking. Some people estimate that wiring makes up as much as 60% of the cost of a typical video security system. All of those cheap video security systems found at costco, sams club, online store, etc. Require wiring. The cameras are typically "very dumb". So the system comes with a recorder that has to be located where all the wires come together. It's often necessary to attach a monitor (or tv) to the recorder just to get things set up. Relocating one of these cameras can be a major undertaking. . 2. Wired for power, but using wifi for signal. Now the task is to get a low voltage cable to an outlet somewhere close by to get power, and wifi carries the signal back to the router. The reolink rlc-410ws camera is this type. This camera stores "event videos" on an (included) 16gb sd card. There's no need for a recorder. The cameras can be monitored from a pc, mac, iphone, android phone, ipad, android tablet. When motion is detected, the camera records to the internal sd card and can send an alert via email. . 3. Go completely wireless. Products like netgear's arlo, online store's blink, and (more coming out every day) get power from batteries and use wireless for signal. They are amazing to install. Simply stick them up anywhere you want that gets a wifi signal. Change your mind? no problem, just move it in (literally) minutes. These systems store their "video events" on cloud servers. Arlo comes with up to 1gb of free storage, for up to 7 days of events, for up to 5 cameras. You can pay for more cameras or more storage. Blink gives up to 7200 seconds of recording for free. (i. E. 720 snapshots of 10 sec each, 240 recordings of 30 seconds each, etc. ) the batteries are a definite consideration. Arlo says theirs last "4 months" based on 4 minutes of use per day! i. E. They record 10-20 second clips, send them to the cloud, and go back to sleep. Record longer clips or watch streaming and the batteries will need replacing often. . With it understood that the rlc-410ws is "run power, use wifi, store videos on the camera, and watch them remotely", here's how i rate this camera:. . Cost: definitely 5 stars at $100 each, these cameras are cheaper than arlo, blink, and most of the wifi cameras on the market. Build quality: definitely 5 stars. Packaging: definitely 5 stars. Video quality: definitely 5 stars 4mp (see below)*. Networking: definitely 5 stars both 2. 4g and 5g wifi. Features: definitely 5 stars. Ease of use: nearly 5 stars. Ease of setup: between 3-4 stars. Installation: 3 stars. Support: 5 stars. . Features:. Motion detection is awesome. Can adjust sensitivity by time of day and block out areas where motion would be a "false alarm". Privacy mask to not record sensitive areas. Schedules. Anti-flicker option. Can have files sent by ftp, notification by email. List just goes on and on. The only thing i find missing is "geo-fencing". That concept is to turn the system on or off automatically based on where your cell phone is. I. E. If i'm. Home, automatically disable the alarms. If i go away, turn it on. Some systems offer this feature. Personally, i want to record every time someone comes near my house. One time online store claimed that two packages were "delivered", but we were home did not get them. Sure, online store eventually replaced the shipments, but i had no "proof" that the delivery guy actually never showed up. And, i want to know about people prowling around during the night. So, no geo-fencing, but it's not important to me. . Ease of use:. The pc and android phone apps are almost seamless. A few "gotcha" moments here and there. Such as, when you select "live view", nothing happens. Have to click on the start arrow at the bottom. Still nothing happens. Have to select "clear" or "fluent". Seems tedious. (recent software update automatically selects "fluent" video, when i prefer "clear". There appears to be no way to set the default, so i have to click another time anyway. ). . Ease of setup: it has to be connected via ethernet (hard wired) for initial configuration. That's not a huge deal-breaker, but it is annoying. I have set up two cameras, and getting the darn "admin" password changed from blank to something else is a mystery. There's something that is just "not intuitive" about how to enter it. When a firmware update is released, that darn password has to be changed again. . Installation: there are two issues: (1) connecting power. (2) actually mounting the camera. . The box includes 18 meters (54 ft. ) of power cord to go from the wall plug adapter to the camera. However, because of the ethernet socket and "reset" switch, it requires at least a 3/4" hole to route the cable. Won't fit inside typical electrical molding, so the camera needs to be placed where a 3/4" hole can be drilled through a wall. Can't reasonably take off points when i knew going in that i had chosen option 2 (run power and use wifi for signal). Except for the ethernet socket. Take that away, and suddenly the problem is a lot smaller. If it was only the low voltage cord, it would be nearly trivial to drill a hole through the wall to use an indoor electrical outlet. (hmmm. Should i just "cut the socket and switch off" and hope that i never need to connect directly again? ). . A bigger issue is the installation bracket. It can swivel in three dimensions, but it requires loosening and tightening (very) tiny allen screws. This is no picnic when you're up on a ladder and the camera is over your head. And, when the parts are rotated, sometimes they block the allen screws. Damn, and double damn. Would have been so much simpler if it had a simple ball joint with a nut to tighten. The product picture shows the camera mounted to the ceiling with antennas sticking "up" into where the ceiling would be. Obviously, the antennas would need to point down, but that makes a less attractive advertising picture. I needed to mount one camera "sideways" to get power through the wall and then have the camera point in the right direction. Had to remove one of the antennas. Plenty of vertical space, but the antenna ran into the bracket. (they used the same bracket parts for the wifi camera as for their hardwired camers. If one piece of the bracket had been a bit longer, the antenna would not have run into it. ) grrr. Of course, if you don't need to mount the camera at 90 degrees, this isn't a problem. . At least the wifi connection eliminates the need to run wires back to a central point. . Support: 5 stars. Like online store's blink, only email support is provided. I asked a bunch of questions and always got responses in under 24 hours (even over mlk weekend! ) the answers were always thorough and well written. Firmware updates are easy to download and install (except for the password irritation). Complete instructions come bundled with the firmware (pdf). Firmware and software updates seem to come out almost every month, in contrast to other systems that can go a year between updates. . *video quality:. Resolution and angle are big issues with video security systems. Do a google search for "how to choose a security camera", or check out the explanation at this web site: look at the difference between 720p, 1080p, and 1440p (this camera). The arlo cameras, for example, provide 720p with 130 angle of view. With arlo, you definitely know "someone" was there. With this camera, the police would have something definite to work with. . Bottom line:. It boils down to "you may not always get what you pay for, but you seldom get more than you pay for. " at $100 per camera, with amazing build and video quality, complete feature set, convenient access, and options that go on and on. Wow!

One of the best wireless security cameras i've ever owned. Excellent day and night pictures. I use this and the other reolink rlc-411ws to give me an excellent security video coverage of my vacation cabin. I have been using these cameras for about five months now and never had a single issue. I am already thinking about buying some more for my home. It is so easy to setup and use. I use the android app for my phone and tablet and the windows client software for my computer and both work flawlessly. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. If you are looking for an excellent quality video security system, look no further. You will not regret your decision.

I am extremely impressed with this camera! i had ordered the rlc-411ws, a few months ago, and had to send it back. I have to believe that it was the camera, as this one performs great, and was easy to setup. Great picture and even sound! the 5. 8ghz connection is perfect for me, as i have a lot of 2. 4 ghz equipment around. I'm using it with blue iris, and setup couldn't have been simpler. I highly recommend this camera if you need 5. 8ghz connectivity.

Received my reolink rlc-410ws earlier this afternoon. I installed it in my backyard looking down and across my lawn. The picture is really crystal clear, compared to some older cameras that i own. I set it up using ispy with motion detection, pc speaker alarm, and recording. I set the resolution at the minimum of 720p, to maximize the frame rate. Tested and everything worked perfectly. This is the connection string that ispy used: rtsp://admin:password 192. 168. 1. 200:554/h264preview 01 main. . I'll be sleeping tonight with my laptop next to my bed, waiting for those armadillos to come around. They have been destroying my new lawn; but tonight i have a surprise waiting for them. The camera works so well, i will probably order a second one to monitor my front lawn.

Normally i use poe for my cameras but i needed one for a tricky area where i simply cannot run ethernet (there's a big concrete slab in the way and fortunately the previous owners ran power out past it. So. I have power on a pedestal at least. . For that setup, wifi was perfect, and i chose this mainly because reolink supports 802. 11ac and i wanted the best chance of getting a strong signal back to my wifi router. The camera is about 70 feet away outside and then through the wall of the house it's only another 10 feet to the wifi router, but i do get a good, strong signal and the video is streaming to blue iris just fine at 10 fps (which is what i have it set to). . Getting reolink cameras setup in blue iris is easy. I had a problem with one of my reolink cams (a rlc-411ws) where the lower half of the image would "smear" or blur in blue iris about every 20-30 seconds. Switching it to h. 264 baseline (instead of main or high) fixed it. On this camera though, the 410ws, i have it set to h. 264 main right now and it's fine. I always thought it was a bug in blue iris causing it, something in the way it decoded the main/high h. 264 profiles, but oh well. Blue iris currently can't handle the h. 265 from my dahua ptz either, so stuff like that happens even on a more expensive cam. . The day quality of this camera is awesome. I had to put it out at the street because the cams on my house can't "see" the street through the foliage that well, and after a neighbor had their entire trailer stolen, i knew i needed more coverage just in case they came back for more. Yeah, in the day i can get good high res of cars, including license plate info. . At night of course it's super hard to get license plates with any cam unless you dedicate a cam just for that purpose, but the ir lights on this cam do a good job of illuminating my area of interest, and i am adding a secondary ir illuminator. If for no other reason than to help keep the spiders away from the camera. . Don't let the haters on ipcamtalk bully you into thinking this camera doesn't work with blue iris since i and others can attest to the proven fact that it does work. Is it a "starlight" dahua? well, no, and if you want awesome low light video then you can spend a lot more for one of those but you won't get wifi, a built in mic, and those are only 2mp. I do like my dahua starlight ptz, don't get me wrong, but boy i wish they had one available with higher resolution. . This cam doesn't have zoom, but just for the record, reolink autofocus when zooming in/out (on the 411ws and 423 that i have) is incredibly slow and kind of buggy. At night i usually have to manually focus in/out after zooming and letting it try to figure it out. But yeah, that part doesn't apply to this camera since it's fixed focus. . The attached photo is from a blue iris snapshot which reduced the resolution, but you'll get the idea of the fov. I like having the wide angle even though the edges are barreled some because of it. I didn't really know what it was before i bought it but i'm happy at how it turned out since i could cover more of the street even though it's pretty close to it.

It doesn't go down to 1 frame per second, but i will live. My main reason for purchasing this is because it has a built-in microphone. I have this paired with d-link's wireless ip cameras. This model will see into the dark, while the dcs-2330l sees anything close-range and will catch blind-spots. Pros: -very cheap compared to d-link's dcs-2330l -sees very far into the dark (up to 100 ft) -built-in microphone. Cons: -does not record down to 1fps (so you have to adjust your internet cloud-based recording solution plans to accommodate, which will cost slightly more). . If using a public cloud-based recording solution, you will spend money either way, so it might be a good and/or fair investment to have a mix of items and manage your budget.

First of all, i spent a significant amount of time (many, many hours) researching to get the right cameras for my application. I paid the asking price for the cameras $99. 99/each and i purchased two of them. I am not the most tech savvy person so first and foremost - they had to be easy to use and for outdoor use. I also had a list of requirements that the cameras had to meet and the reolink rlc-410ws did not disappoint. Here are the things i wanted the cameras to be able to do:. . - record to an sd card so i could review recorded images and not pay additional monitoring fees each month. - have wi-fi so i did not have to run ethernet cables and drill holes through my walls. - good quality night vision. - motion detection and send alerts by e-mail or app. - have very good hd picture quality. - can access footage remotely on iphone using app or ip address. . The reolink rlc-410ws does all of the items above very well. Also, many prior reviewers mentioned they had a hard time to setup and that the software was not intuitive. There are many good videos on youtube to show how to get started. This made the setup very easy. I had my first camera plugged in to my router and up an running in less than 10 minutes. Now, the cameras are not perfect. I do have two complaints that i think reolink could easily correct and i would have given them 5-stars. First, in order for you to connect the cameras by wi-fi you have to add it to your router. Well my router has an 18-digit wep key. The software on the cameras i received did not allow for an 18-digit wep key. (only up to 16-digits) however, there is a new software that you can download for free and it fixes this problem. I just think the cameras should have already had the newest updated software already installed on them. Again, not being the most tech savvy person, it took me over an hour to figure out why the wi-fi would not connect when i unplugged from the router for the first time. There are some basic instructions when you go to the download center to install the new software but it took me 30 minutes to click on the right things to get the download to start. (so if you don't have an 18-digit wep key like my fios router has this may not be an issue for you). If reolink included a troubleshooting guide that would have been a big help. My second issue was on the actual installation and mounting of the camera. Due to the way the camera tilts and pivots it is very hard to screw in the three screws if you are mounting in a tight location. The base is very narrow and i could only get two of the three screws inserted properly. The cameras are very well built and solid. In any event, as you can see by the pictures, i did get them mounted. The last item i want to mention is the wi-fi on the cameras is only as good as the wi-fi signal that you have at the camera. So before i mounted anything, i tested and made sure i had good signal strength and viewed it on the app while installing. I still need to make some adjustments on the motion detection as i was getting alerts every minute due to the sensitivity. So far i am very happy with my purchase and i will more than likely buy two more cameras so that every doorway in and out of my house is covered. Hope this helps you all with your security camera purchase research. "like" if this was helpful.

I initially bought two of these after my vehicle was broken into in my driveway. I tend to over-research most of my purchases and found that the reolink cameras did exactly what i wanted and at a really good price. Unlike some of the other reviews, i found setup and installation to be explained pretty well. The app works well on my android and on my wife's iphone and our ipad. The pc app is a little confusing at first but a little poking around and i was able to figure it out pretty easily. It has a ton of features and makes configuring the cameras pretty powerful. The image quality is very good in daytime. I had a bit of a time to get the night time images better but found that too little light or very light colored objects in the frame blew the color out and made it difficult to discern the image. Changing the placement of the cameras and outdoor lighting made the images much clearer. I haven't had any problems with wifi connectivity as others have. I like these so much i bought a pair for my son for his new home. I would like see the ability to upgrade the memory card, they are pretty cheap nowadays and would really increase the desirability. Also some integration with a smart hub would be nice. Overall, i would definitely recommend reolink.

Purchased this camera for use in remotely monitoring a covered boat lift where i had recently had some theft. . I originally order this item due to following characteristics". - size. - internal storage - was not sure what bandwidth i would be able to get remotely to the camera. - wifi - wanted flexibility in mounting - although i ended up configuring this over the optional wired ethernet connection. . The configuration & install of the camera went very easy - i initially setup with the iphone app and it quickly found the camera over my local network and i was able to set things up quite readily - i then moved over the to client application, running on a mac, to configure more detailed items such as the motion detection. . Overall the ui for the web & app are fairly intuitive - though some aspects such as the types of streams and how to select took a little playing (probably should have read the manual more in depth first). . I was a little disappointed initially with the image quality, then i found the "clear" stream (the higher bandwidth stream) was set at 720p resolution vs the higher 4mp that the camera supported. As i had the camera connected to a wired ethernet network (and connected back to a synology nas running their surveillance station software) across some high-speed wireless links, i cranked up the bandwidth to the max rate, max frame-rate and max resolution - and was very pleased with the quality of the video captured & recorded - very good detail - can read lettering on the shirt of someone 15' away from the camera. . The app has been working well thus far - i have "slow" dsl at the property with about 900kbps upload speed, so i can only get a lower-res stream delivered to the app when not on my local network, but it is still sufficient for most needs - and i know i have a clear-stream recording on the camera itself and also on my nas in the house. . Have been playing with the motion detection & masking - i misunderstood the mask settings at first and was selecting the areas i wanted to disregard - so i know the mask is working well - corrected and tested with a walk-through - works very well. Have been playing with sensitivity as the camera will pick up bugs flying through the lens that are lit-up by the ir illuminators - will work to dial this in to get less false-triggers (well, it is a valid trigger from the camera's perspective). . It would be nice to be able to disable the ir leds on the camera and use an external ir illuminator - this would help with some of these situations of bugs - as this is located on a covered boat lift, there are plenty of bugs around, drawn to the ir - this will in turn draw the spiders and then the spider webs - i expect this to be an on-going battle during the warm months. Update: i have blocked the on-camera ir and installed an external ir illuminator several feet away and this seems to have addressed most of the false triggers due to bugs. . I had read some reviews about problems with water getting into the reset button on the break-out cable coming off the camera - so i made a water-tight box to place the break-out connections in - consisting of a 2x2 junction box and a couple of 3/4" conduit connectors with rubber stoppers inserted - and holes drilled sized to the wires - this allowed the power & ethernet connection to be made (and the reset button placed) inside the water-tight box to avoid any issues - i don't envision needing to press the reset button on any regular occurrence - if so it's accessible via a ladder and a screwdriver. . For those using synology nas and their surveillance station application - setup of the camera using the onif profile was simple once i read that the camera used a different default port than the defaults in the setup wizard on the synology. I was able to use both the reolink app and the synology application concurrently to view. . Impressed overall with the product and looking at adding a second unit for more complete coverage of the boat lift - and likely a few for my main home. . Attached a few image captures from the 4k video / 8kbps stream video captured at night - this is with the on-camera ir blocked an an external ir illuminator active to keep the bugs from being drawn to the camera, but the low-light / night performance with the on-board ir is just as good.

I work for a tech company with some pretty talented engineers and a couple of them bought this camera and recommended it so i tried it. The software is a little clunky but once you figure it out, pretty straight forward to set up and use. I just ordered another one today. I struggled a little bit with the email push of motion activated videos but finally figured out you can't easily use it with an email account that has two factor authentication enabled, so i just created a new gmail account without dual authentication for the camera only and it works fine. This gives you an email of the motion activated video clips so you do have storage of events outside of the internal sd card in case someone/something damages the camera. Great product for a great price, lots of peace of mind.

Night vision never worked correctly from day one. Tech support no help. Now constantly drops wifi signal. Constantly drops fps. Going back to foscam after only 3 months

F. Tracey, Brighton and Hove says

Great camera, wonderful picture, nice options. . However, there's one major problem and two minor problems:. . 1) it won't pass it's own wifi test, even when the signal is strong, even when the password is correct. I've gone through all the troubleshooting (antennas, ssids/passwords, dhcp, filters), even upgraded the firmware, tried various networks. The wifi setup is discombobulated, whether using mobile app or reo client (and there is no accessible web client). For instance, the ui doesn't allow a blank password field, so can't even try to connect to an open wifi network. Also, the antenna jacks block the set screws when placing the camera in the level position. It's clear that wifi was just an afterthought for both the hardware and software aspects of this camera. . 2) the camera's web page doesn't support mac. . 3) unlike their other cameras, this camera does not support poe, which is not clear from the description. . While i like reolink cameras in general, this model is awful (i'm betting the 411 has the same problems), so am going with a different brand when wifi/wireless is needed,

4mp? hd quality? way far from it. On video settings max p is 720p. Really? cant recognize a persons face from 10ft away from the cam. Oversold over priced over rated.

. Florence, California says

The rlc-410ws is the most problematic of the 10 cameras installed on my security system. Just 20 feet from a high-power wi-fi router, it very frequently loses signal and blue iris reports an io error. Additionally, it routinely pixelates the lower half of the video as shown in the enclosed photo. Lastly, at its highest h. 264 setting, it's bandwidth is 50% greater than dahua and amcrest cameras with the same settings. Reolink settings are 3 mega pixel (2304x1296), highest h. 264 setting, 15fps, 1024 max bit rate. The only difference in the dahua and amcrest settings is the max bit rate is set for 1280 which you'd think would result in higher bandwidth use. Two of my reolink rlc-410s (poe ip model) cameras have also begun to pixelate, but not as bad as the wi-fi model. All together, i bought 3 reolink rlc-410s and 1 rlc-410ws cameras and wish i'd spent $10-20 more each to buy dahua or amcrest band. None of those cameras have given me any trouble at all. And just to drive the point home, i'm running the 2 amcrest 3. 0 mp wi-fi cameras over 200' of ethernet over powerline / wifi adapters without a hitch.

This camera has been so much trouble. Regardless of the access point i use (i've tried three, ) it constantly disconnects and the video cuts out. Barely works with tinycam. Just find something else. This thing is a bug fest.

B. Anonymous, Blackburn with Darwen says

I really liked this little camera, motion detection worked great, software on ipad/pc worked great. It emailed me either stills or movies as needed. Ultimately we just don't have a need for a camera with this narrow of a viewing angle(80*). No matter where i put it i could not really see what i neede to see. Keep in mind that the software only allows you to keep recording for one minute after a motion trigger event, so you may not get everything captured that you would like if you are using motion detection.

A. Cindy, District of Columbia

Just didn"t work for me. I could never get it connected or get a live view.

C. Monique, Devon says

This camera arrived defective with a large black spot on the upper right side of the video. This is the second bad reolink camera i have returned. Pro's: wifi range is great, motion detection is very good, video is very good. Con's: video playback is poor, motion alerts only send one snapshot photo, manual snapshots only save at a low 640x480 resolution, tech support is email only with a 24 hour turn-around!

V. Rita, Northumberland

These units time out often. It takes v long to switch from multiple screen to single screen, there causing you to miss what you needed to see. Pixels are too low. You cannot make out faces unless up close. Zooming it distorts it. Recording does not work. They appear to record but you cannot playback

P. Wayt, Haringey says

October 24, 2017. It works only as camera, but now i am having trouble with that too. The motion sensing is useless (because the infrared leds attract bugs at night) and the microphone is mostly useless (because of circuit noise). And now the password must be reentered regularly. I tried unchecking the enable password box but trying to apply that setting checks the box (reversing my command). So i am stuck regularly reentering the password for the device. . October 12, 2017. The built-in microphone is useless. Way too much noise. The built-in microphone is the reason i chose this camera. Apparently other reviewers are not very concerned about sound, otherwise there would be complaints. The frame by frame motion detection is not very good. Mainly because at night the infrared leds attract bugs. Also, it is unable to make a sound when motion is detected, not even in windows. So what you get is good video through a wi-fi camera. But that is about it. The rest is mostly dysfunctional. . October 11, 2017. The audio contains an irritating noise when the volume is turned up. The microphone is connected via a 4 inch unshielded wire but removing it from the circuit board does not eliminate the noise. It sounds like a poorly tuned gasoline engine plus a rhythmic beat precisely every two seconds. Changing video settings has no effect on the circuit noise. . October 4, 2017. Nevermind. I found the recordings. They are in the reolink program folder. . Picture looks great. Mostly easy to use. Problems. 1. Poor design. The antenna plugs are in the way of the screws, they prevent proper alignment of the camera for tilting. It tilts at an angle. 2. On my windows 10 pc, does not record to the default folders. No way to change the default folders. Recording does not work. Number 2 would be no big deal except i want recording to my pc when away from home. They can rip the camera off of the wall and i will have no recording at all. I just noticed. Cannot download from the sd card either?

Software needs drastic improvement! very confusing. Also, you have to scan the bar code that is on the camera for the software. So, if you get a new phone and the camera is mounted where you can not easily reach the bottom of the camera. I'm pretty sure you won't be able to use the software without scanning the bar code. Not convenient nor easy! picture is much better than 1080p. . If the bar code problem and the software was easier to use i would probably replace all my 1080p cameras with this camera. But until then i will keep trying to figure the software out. Hope they come up with another way to add the camera to the software since i'm going to upgrade to a new android phone in the near future!

I have a mix of cameras 3 reolink, uokoo and a microseven covering my home that i pipe to zoneminder. Each of them has their strengths and weaknesses. Out of the three, reolink has the best ios/android app for browsing motion detection events. . I lowered my rating since the sd card is not officially supported. In two of the older models i have, you could still somehow open up the camera, wiggle the sd card out and replace it. I replaced them with a 64gb reformatted as fat32. However as the latest 12/2017 model i received, i am not able to take out the sd card at all. . Also setting a scheduled reboot of the camera helps it from getting hung. . The night time vision tends to be mediocre on all my cameras including this one. If i did have someone on footage, not sure that i could id someone baesd on it- even people that i know look very different on the footage.

Y. McCarthy, Hackney

Received the unit. Setup both ios and windows pc clients. Followed all of the instructions. . Added the device first with the ipad. Was able to see a picture and even created a new password successfully. When attempting to then set the wifi access and the unit could not see any of the numerous wifi networks that my other devices (ipad, iphones, roku, etc) could see when scanning. Even tried hard coding in a known ssid and password, re-powered the unit, etc. And no actions could get any wifi activity. . Concluded the wifi was dead out of the box and returned the unit to online store. Not sure, yet, if i will order another one from reolink or look for another supplier.

This camera worked great for about 2 weeks. One rainstorm and suddenly it's not working, it's clearly not as weatherproof as advertised. Was not as easy to instal and set up as is advertised and then tech support is only handled by email. This camera has taken up more of my time than it's worth. Move on from this one, there are better options.

So, in spite of the below review, unfortunately i've recently had an issue with 2 of my camera (purchased 4, including the zoomable one). On one of the cameras, it just stopped working. It would say that it was streaming, and you could see the bitrate cange based on my settings as though it was streaming fine, but the video was blank with no output. I could connect to it via the app, i could change the settings, even reset back to defaults, but the video would never display. I trashed it as it's a relatively inexpensive camera and would just simply buy another one. . Then. I saw there was a new firmware update. I updated one of my 410's, and it updated with no problem at all. . I went to update the firmware on another one, went through the same process, it reached 100%, but it never came back up. I refreshed the browser page, deleted temps, etc. But nothing. I tried to manage via the mobile app, nothing. Tried to manage via the desktop app, nothing. I checked my wifi router to see if it was handing out a new dhcp lease, or even an old one for this camera, but nothing. Tried pinging the old ip, nothing. The only other thing that i can think of is maybe i didn't check off that box that says "update configure file" but i don't see how that could cause an issue. It should still be manageable and should still get an ip. But it's not. . So now i'm down to 2 cameraswhich are working flawlessly. I'm afraid to upgrade the last one (the zoomable one), because that one was a little more expensive. I was ok with scrapping the first camera as it out in the heat and just thought it got too hot, no idea. But the second problem camera was due to the firmware being upgrade. As the cameras are all around the house high up, there was no possibility the powe when out at the exact same time i did the upgrade. I did after about an hour go out and see if a reset would work, but it didn't (had to unscrew it from the house and directly connect it to the router). . The cameras are amazing! you cannot get a more clear, a more smooth video from any sub 1440p camera out there. I love these cameras, just bummed that i now am down 2 cameras. . Reolink support, any ideas? . . -. . Until otherwise, i've giving this thing 5 stars! i just bought 3 of them and couldn't be happier. Quality. Everything about this is great. Everything from the box they shipped it in, to the mini-manual, to the english / verbiage, to the build quality, to the actual video that it captures is great! i decided to upgrade my old chinese cameras to something a bit nicer, did my research, and decided to buy these 1440p cameras a my new cameras. Just simply opening the box, i could tell it was much more thought out than my old cameras. . The box itself was nice, the manual too was actually legible compared to the many numerous other things that i've bought over the years. Everything in the box was well packed. The camera itself seems to be solid and well made. Much more solid and heavy compared to my old and cheap chinese ones. The app and the quality of the video are all things that i'm impressed with, and just plain excited to get these things installed and up on the house. I've done a few sample streams, and the quality of the video is amazing, super clear and crisp. I know the box and manual / etc. Aren't the main focus when buying something, but i've bought many things in the past and it simply doesn't compare. It seems as though the manufacturer / designers actually cared about the product and went he extra mile on ensuring the small things mattered. And not just simply shoving the camera in a box and shipping. Cables were actually labeled. Came with a mounting template, 2 antenna's per camera, instruction manual, packing list, stickers, etc. . Configuring for the first time was easy. Plugged in the cable, hooked it up to my internal network, installed the iphone app. And, there was the camera already discovered. Once up, i changed the password, configured the wifi, and i was set. The only problem i had (which is in no way a problem that would diminish detracting a star, was that it doesn't seem that it would accept a $ in my wpa key). I haven't updated the firmware, so i'll see if that fixes it. . Overall. I'm happy!

I guess i got a defective one. I've set up cameras before and i tried numerous times with this one. I could never get it to show up on my network.

D. Ross, Quebec

Very unreliable. Misses motion events. If i walk past the camera and back again, it will catch the first even, but miss the second one. What good is a camera that misses motion events? i believe the problem is that the camera won't look for motion events for a period of time after a previous motion event occurred. . But it seems to never miss any bugs (attracted by the red glowing ir lights), so i have thousands of false alerts and then it misses the real ones. . None of the reolink settings helps prevent the false alerts. Lowering the sensitivity will only cause real alerts to be missed. . With so many false alerts, you would think reolink would provide an easy way to scan through them all? no. You have to watch in real time all the alerts. For example, if there is 3 hour of recordings, you have to watch 3 hours of video. Who has time for that?

N. Meghan, Gateshead says

Bought this one and wish i had not as my other reolink stopped working. Now i'm faced with either buying another one or getting two more from another brand so i don't have two different apps on my phone.

Camera works great, very long range from router over 300' even with only one antenna, easy installation and programming ( i have 4 other amcrest wifi works as good if not better ) will order 6 more i like the on board memory.

We are building a house. I purchased the camera to keep watch on the site as we build. The house is studded out, with a roof, at this time. I purchased this camera thinking it had better than average wi-fi. It turns out it doesn't. One positive thing, the camera is very easy to set up on the network (alot of cameras aren't). Setting up the camera, 5 feet from the router, on 2. 4 ghz, everything works great. Once i installed the camera 40' away from the router, i got intermittent video, video artifacts. Motion alerts false alarm all the time. Not good. In case your wondering, 40' through open studs. You can see the router from the camera, so, no steel walls between. I also have a foscam wi-fi ptz camera at the same location, and it works great. I was hoping for more.

Not very effective . Images not clear and delayed motion picture frame.

R. Wade, Nottinghamshire says

I thought this was advertised as "wireless" as in completely wireless. It is not wireless, i am sending it back for a refund.

E. Miller, Poole

I've tried at least 6 wi fi cameras and returned them all. Some didn't work. Some were poorly designed. Some ate up your data plan (nest) some cost $ per month (nest). This camera seems to work great! . It's impossible to properly set the motion sensitivity. The app is a little tricky and they have misspellings on the screen. China! . The night vision is quite good. The motion alerts are impossible to manage. It cant discriminate a real alarm from a false. Alarm. And it downloads pictures and videos to your phone. Only drag. On a mac you have to be 10. 11 or higher. No support for 'snow leopard". Kudos guys. Great camera! . L

The sound recording on the 410ws is very poor when in wireless mode due to interference with the 802. 11 module. Everything else worked fine and i had no wifi connection issues and the picture looked great. Choose the 411ws instead if recording sound is not a requirement for you.

O. Finch, Idaho

I'm happy with the ease of use, ease of set up, and picture quality. But i am unhappy about as i only received a 16 foot power extension cable rather than the 60-foot they advertise clearly on the page.

. Arnett, Bedfordshire says

The camera picture quality is very good. However, there is one big draw back that i need buyers to be aware. The camera app won't load anything if you are using cellphone 3g/4g signal. It will always say "connection failed" under live view. However, as long as the wifi is turn on on your phone, the liveview will be connected again. I am using galaxy note 8 att and my 4g lte speed is excellent. . Fyi: i already contact customer support and will try the previous version of reolink app to see if the "connection failed" happens again with cellphone 3g/4g signal
