Review for ultra hd smart led tv model works

Price was $1,198.00. Review: 2017 sony xbr55x900e 55-inch 4k ultra hd smart led tv. . The search for affordable image quality on a new television is a lot like laundry detergent. Who doesn't want brighter whites, colors that don't run, colors, and less wrinkles? there are a couple of primary components to the current led sets: high dynamic range, the 4k screen resolution, and motion control qualities. . The sony 900e series features a 120hz base refresh rate for better motion handling than 60hz sets, local dimming for higher contrast ratios, and hdr via hdr10 content. Currently, hdr content is limited, as is 4k content. Netflix and online store both have some hdr titles, a situation that will likely improve in quantity as time goes by. As the sony 900e does it own streaming, you need not buy any hdr blu-ray discs at all, much less an actual 4k hdr player. Up-scaling blu-ray players are not necessary, as the tv does its own up-scaling. Most all do: if they didn't, standard programming wouldn't fill the screen, it would leave you with a small, unwatchable box. . The reason for my purchase was to find an upgrade from my 2013 model samsung 51 inch plasma. The samsung plasma has given excellent service, handling motion superbly with inky blacks. However, the plasma isn't particularly bright and has a bit of a reflection problem. This sony does offer a noticeably brighter, crisper picture, and has markedly less reflection. Where my samsung plasma has a contrast ratio of 2477:1, the sony has a native contrast of 5411:1, 6534:1 with local dimming engaged. Where the samsung has a 4. 3% reflection, the sony at 1. 2% reflection of ambient light is vastly improved. The 55 inch sony uses a bit less electricity than the plasma, but not by much. The sony is 139kwh estimated vs. The 144kwh of the plasma per year: that isn't exactly wake the president material. . The higher resolution, 3840 x 2160, of the sony is a nuance. The closer you are to the set while viewing, the more likely you are to notice it. You would have to be 6. 5 feet from a 50-inch tv to be able to notice any benefits of 4k resolution over 1080p. The average american sits about nine feet away from their living room sets, myself included, so the difference is trivia. What makes the sony 900e's picture so good is the 6534:1 contrast ratio combined with good motion control and relatively low reflection. This is exceptional, for the more expensive samsung q7f has a 4709:1 with no improvement with its local dimming set to high. . I do have a few niggles with the sony, but not regarding the picture quality. The remote control interface is clumsy, clunky, and sluggish. It doesn't matter once you are actually watching a movie or other programming, but setting up the set initially and navigating to different sources is slow, awkward, non-intuitive, and generally cumbersome. The samsung tizen interface is vastly superior and comparatively effortless to use, as is the samsung remote. . This sony tv isn't smart at all, unless you agree to violating some of your privacy with the set's user agreement. Unless you do so, you cannot so much connect to your own wi-fi network, and that means no streaming, no software updates, nothing. It is annoying, for unless you agree to let sony track your location and usage, this isn't a smart tv at all: it becomes a monitor more than anything else. Nowhere on the actual packaging or the sony advertising is there any warning that you need to give sony the ability to track your private use and location of the television, or it doesn't work as advertised. . The area of good quality, yet affordable television occupied by this sony is a small one. Most of the economy sets have low hdr real scene peak brightness such as the samsung ku6300 at 413 cd/m2. This sony hits 546. Many like the samsung have a bit too much reflection at 2. 4% or so: the sony has half of that, and most 60 hz sets have judder with many sources. This is no great dig against the $600 samsung un55mu6300, for this sony runs about $400 - $500 more. Without getting into the upper bracket of the sony xbr55x930e or the lg electronics oled55b7a, this sony 900e unit is the best that can be had at the street price category of $1000 - $1200. . Blu-rays look stunning on this set, as does netflix and online store streaming. Even my old dvd's, played through a blu-ray player, never looked better. At the end, i'm happy to recommend this set on the basis of image quality. It is currently (2017) the best in class, and to get better you'll have to pop for an oled display. This sony set is not beyond improvement with its clunky interface, but it shines in most every other respect.

Foreword

Originally ordered tcl's 6 series (on back order) but after learning of quality issues, decided to go with the 900e. More money but i didn't want the possible aggravation of having to return a unit. Received the sony 2 days later and am loving it. Picture is beautiful and it looks great on its stand. I attached a $20 set of leds to back and connected it to my stereo; i have an awesome setup! Sony Xbr55x900e 55-inch 4k Ultra Hd Smart Led Tv 2017 Model , Works With Alexa Review (xbr55x900e)

I own a panasonic plasma 42" set. If plasmas were still being manufactured, i would have bought one in a second. Unfortunately, since plasmas are a thing of the past, i set my sights on getting the best non-oled tv out there. I really didn't' want to spend oled prices since they did not look so significantly better in stores. I did most of my research with rtngs. Com and also recommendations from friends. . When i first got this set, i wasn't exactly happy with it so i spent some time tweaking the setting. Plasmas have a proven smoother picture than leds. I wanted to adjust the smoothness settings but not so much as to get the soap-opera effect. The best setting i found was motionflow to standard and cinemotion to low. Aside from that very important setting, i have brightness set to 20, which is pretty low, but it gives you a more watchable and true picture. . I've gotten used to this tv over time (3 months) and now really like the set. I go back and forth to my 42" plasma and like them both for different reasons. One thing to keep in mind is that the processor in this set is very sensitive and you realize that the quality of the picture is very dependent on the source. I noticed that close-ups of football players is very sharp but views of the field and the plays are not. That's because the cameras are shooting with zooms which degrade the picture. One thing is for sure, when the image is sharp, it's almost breath-taking how good the picture is. . My takeaway is that if you own a plasma, give the set some time to get used to. If you're already an led fan, then i think you'll really like this set. -H. Anonymous

PROS
  • I bought this tv in size 65" at a black friday price after doing extensive online research covering both quality and price. I also went to my local bestbuy store to get visual comparisons against competing models and to consult a bb magnolia expert. While black friday prices from both online store and bb were the same, what swayed me to purchase the tv from online store was the extended warranty cost followed by the convenience of delivery and setup. . Now comes the important description of my experience. Having done my research, i saw that rtings. Com rates this tv as the best mid range tv. Visually comparing it to the top of the line lg oleds, the best high end tvs of rtings. Com, i only saw some mild disadvantages in watching very dark backgrounds and certainly not justifying the significant price difference. To my eyes, viewing this tv from a wide angel actually offered a better experience than that of the oleds. Other than the lg oleds and higher end sony xbr65x930/940 series, no other tv came visually close. So at that point, i concluded this tv offers the best bank for my buck. However, the main concern that i had about purchasing this tv was some of the horrifying reviews related to the smart features of the android tv and the amount of time people had spent without success troubleshooting their issues. I then looked for an alternative in order to use this smart tv as a "dumb tv" and let it merely offer amazing picture quality. I ordered a roku streaming stick plus uhd at a black friday price and connected it to the tv after pairing the tv with a black friday priced sony avr model str-dh770 feeding my existing 7 speaker surround system. In addition to roku, i also connected my dish hopper 2 thru hdmi and my ota thru coax jack to the tv. Once i got everything working hassle free, i decided to run some streaming test comparisons between the roku and the android tv itself. To make a long story short, i found the streaming quality and the lag of my roku stick plus way better than those of the tv. After conducting the tests, i disconnected the tv from the internet and removed all internet settings to turn the tv into a dumb box again. Since then i have not connected the tv to the internet, have solely relied on roku for streaming to this tv, and have avoided all the troubles of android tv. . Here i am about 45 days later and have nothing to say except my total satisfaction with the video quality and the audio quality (well the audio quality credit goes to the sony avr and surround speakers but i have to say the tv speakers do an okay job if need be). I have not once experienced a problem with the tv since containing it in the sandbox of "simply being an amazing tv". Another very high mark that i give this tv is the improved hdmi integration compared to my old set. I am happy to report that the use of high speed hdmi ethernet cables along with the paired tv/avr have allowed me to eliminate all remotes except the roku and dish remote. The tv and avr remote are not even in use on a daily basis and the only effort that has gone to this is to program my dish remote and roku remote with the tv code. Now, every time the dish remote sat button or roku remote home button are pressed, the tv and avr automatically turn on and tune to the associated hdmi input. Once i press tv off button on any remote, both the tv and avr turn off. The volume buttons on either remote control both tv and avr volumes at the same time but the tv speakers automatically mute as soon as avr comes on. The operation was not even remotely as simple with my old sony hdtv/avr set. . To conclude, i spent some time planning how i wanted to use my home entertainment system but knowing i only make a change once every few long years, it was time well spent!
  • While i understand that i might be a little bias considering how massive this upgrade from my old edge lit tv is, i believe i can still state how impressive this sony x900e line is. Picture is uniform, can get very bright/colorful across the entire screen. Even though you might have heard this set doesn't quite reach the recommended '1000 nit minimum', i can assure you this tv will still produce incredible contrast in virtually any content, let alone true hdr content. You might even be pleasantly surprised to find that you wouldn't want to have the picture any brighter. . I was sooo close to giving this a 5 star rating, but as you also might have heard, android tv is simply buggy as heck. It's not by any means unusable, but it's still a tremendous annoyance for example when your trying to pull up a quick utube clip to show friends. Ultimately, if your looking at spending around 1000 tops on a tv this year, there simply is no competition after all the research i've done. This is the top mid range set for 2017. You shouldn't regret it. Correction, you will not.
CONS
  • It makes a popping noise when changing channels. Most, not all the time but most annoying and wonder if it is going to fail. Support has been unable to provide a fix. Lovely tv but not acceptable. I thought i had 60 days with online store, know it looks like far shorter and my 60 is up tomorrow, according to online store it was more like 45 days. Not a happy camper. By the way, one support person told me it was normal!
  • This review will be updated as the replacement process matures. . This tv is gorgeous. It s minimalistic, lightweight (compared to my 2006 40 bravia), and produces a beautiful image. . . Except for a crack at the bottom of the panel. Setup was smooth, but to my horror, while going through the wifi connection process, i noticed a blemish at the bottom of the screen. Then an all white image came up and boy oh boy was it a surprise. See images. The crack is just above the sony branding and ir sensor. . Contacted online store and they had a replacement shipped out immediately. We ll see if the second panel has the same issue. . Were it not for the defect, i would give 5 stars, and will change the review to reflect that provided the second panel shows up without cracks.
  • Completed died after 2 months. Sony says it will take at least 2 weeks to get a new one after going through tons of hoops :(

ultra hd smart led tv model works Sony XBR55X900E 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV (2017 Model), Works with Alexa (Switch to Mobile/Desktop Version)

I have owned this unit for one week now and it is working perfectly. The picture is extremely good and it produces very life like images in both 4k and 1080 media. The tv tuner for over the air programming also does a very good job of upscaling for 1080i and 720p broadcasts. Better than my lg uhd tv. Programs broadcast in 480i and very old content range from good to fair but there is nothing much that can improve low resolution broadcasts. The apps i use primarily are netflix, online store prime, and youtube. The shows are great especially with the 4k programs on netflix. I matched this unit with a sony 4k dvd player, onkyo tx-nr757 audio/video receiver, micca media player, and roku ultimate. The remote is somewhat clunky but does the job. My internet speed is around 20mbs so i don't know how the tv would perform with streaming programs at lower speeds. I use direct ethernet cables for most devices i connect to the tv but the roku and sony dvd player worked fine with my wireless ac router. I upgraded all cables using the reasonably priced online store basic 4k hdmi type to be safe. I wouldn't risk compromising pictur quality by using older hdmi cables with a tv in this price range. Samsung equivalent tv had a very good picture but seemed brighter and a little edgier than the more realistic picture the sony produced; but that is very subjective. I found most of the standard factory default settings worked fine for me. I had the tv mounted and the hdmi 1 cable which plugs directly into the back of the tv does not work because it was pinched by the mount. I suggest for wall mounting you use spacers with the mounting bolts so you have an extra inch of space between the bracket and the cable/port. Side connected cables work fine. Also, note that it appears only hdmi ports 2 and 3 are 4k. Ports 1 and 4 are 2k. It's noted in the manual but not widely known. Depending are what devices you want to connect i would download the sony manual from the web and research which ports can handle which signal so you know how to do your cable/device connections.

Click to see NoticeSony Xbr55x900e 55-inch 4k Ultra Hd Smart Led Tv 2017 Model , Works Alexa (Television)"Upgraded to the sony x900e 55 inch! so happy with this. I think the best part (aside from the picture) is the controls. You can specify different settings for different situations. Sports viewing mode ups the color intensity. Movies mode tones things down. Game mode ups the motion. And so on. This has the 120 frame rate sampling, so it does make things have the soap opera effect, but you can turn that off with a little fiddling (info can be found on the interwebz). It has 4 hdmi inputs. I'm hooked up to cable, appletv and xbox. The preprogrammed os is android so it's ok speed, not fast, not ultra slow. If you want to bypass the chromecast or appletv, you can. I looked the samsung ks8000, mu8000, and mu9000 and chose this one after extensive research. It was just the best in class (to me). In fact it's a step above the samsungs. Also, the voice command is not always on (it is on samsung and alexa) so it's not eavesdropping on me. Not that i saying anything important, but it's just that idea."

Sony Ct290 Ultra-slim 300w Sound Bar Bluetooth 2017 Model (htct290) FAQ.

Note that the "300 watts of power" is 100 watts per channel over 3 channels: two from the bar and one from the subwoofer. Note 1: "if the sound bar system is connected to a tv's hdmi in jack compatible with audio return channel" you don't need the (supplied) optical digital audio cable. The tv's hdmi port should be labeled "arc. " this matters for the following function. Note 2: to view the contents (on the tv screen) of a connected usb device, you have to connect the sound bar system to the tv via hdmi with arc. Apparently if you are only connected via the optical digital audio cable, your tv can't display the contents of the usb device, but you can still use the supplied remote to scroll to select and play a track on the usb device (i haven't tested this). -Notice from W. Powell, West Berkshire

This sony ct290 sound bar may not have the best sound out there, but the sound it produces is waaaaaay better than i expected to get from such a compact system. I'm not an audiophile, so i was just looking for something that would give me enjoyable sound with a reasonable amount of bass. After all, the sound that comes out of the speakers on tvs these days is pretty much garbage. This sony unit is just what i needed. It was easy to set up, it looks nice, and it sounds great to my ears. I also really appreciate the wireless subwoofer. The ability to stream music from my laptop, phone, or tablet via bluetooth is a bonus feature i didn't think i would use, but it's a very handy feature i'm happy to have.

Sony-ct290-ultra-slim-300w-sound-bar-bluetooth-2017-model-(htct290) set picture

- J. GuestLike all soundbars, sony's ct-290 speaker system is designed specifically for tv's; unlike most others, sony's soundbar is "ultra-slim" (about an inch shorter) so it takes up less space and looks good but also limits the size (and the shape) of the bar's left and right speakers. This means that the soundbar by itself will not fully reproduce the lower-mids of the sound spectrum as well as most full-sized soundbars, and that the system's subwoofer will have to make up the difference. The sub does this by way of its unusual design, which solves the mid -range problem but also undermines its expected role as a wall-shaker and window shatterer. . For most people, the soundbar's set-up should be quick and easy but for me it wasn't. I haven't kept up with the pace of new technologies, and my small, bedroom tv's sole hdmi input now had three devices wanting to use it. The soundbar's recommended connection to the tv is via the bar's hdmi's-arc output, and i couldn't understand why a speaker would have a digital output in the first place. Nor did i know what "arc" meant, and only later did i discover that this "audio return channel" was crucial and that it worked only when the bar's hdmi arc output was hooked up with the tv's hdmi-arc input (which it did indeed have). . Oh, great! problem solved. But when i made the appropriate high-speed connection it didn't work - and i finally realized why. Using hdmi-arc to connect to the tv to the soundbar left the tv with no possible digital input and therefore it had no digital output to send to the soundbar, arc or no arc. Damn! this set-up business was getting complicated. . The sony soundbar also has two digital inputs - a usb-a type designed for thumb drives with music files, and an optical socket whose input could only be connected up with the optical out of the direct tv receiver. So i linked the receiver directly to the. Soundbar and thereby bypassed the uncooperative tv altogether - which somehow seemed to be unorthodox but which also worked quite well so who cares? i really did need to find something that actually worked and at this juncture there was no going back. Flush with the energy of success i even remembered to switch off the receiver's dolby digital option so that my new optical pipeline to actual sound was awash with the appropriate flow of a proper pcm data-stream. . There is, of course, a downside to bypassing the tv, but few buyers will have to deal with this because most tv's now have two or more hdmi inputs. Furthermore, all the problems in the set-up had to do with wire connections, and these days many such problems have wireless solutions via bluetooth and "smart" devices. Sony's soundbar and subwoofer are connected solely by bluetooth "pairing" which was easy to set-up and works quite well. Pairing my ipad 4 was even easier, and opened a door to many things. . Before the sony system arrived, i used another speaker system for the same purpose, and since the placement of its subwoofer and two satellite speakers didn't interfere with the installation of the sony system, i left both systems in place. This allowed an easy side-by-side comparison of sound qualities (as well as solving some of the downside issues of my eccentric wiring). The older klipsch promedia 2. 1 system is entirely analog whereas the new sony gear is all digital, which helps to explain why the contrast in sound characteristics was so dramatic and immediately evident. Sony's system is also clearly designed for tv audio, and the klipsch is oriented to music, especially loud, popular and dance tunes rooted in rhythms and body-impelling low-ends. . The sony's digital sound is clear, clean and well defined with sharp edges - which also applies to its well-behaved subwoofer's attractive lows. As expected, the klipsch's analog sound is rounder - full, warm and a bit mushy - and the powerful sub is pervasive but a little vague or fuzzy. When cranked it could do some serious damage. The sony's. Maximum loudness can't match that of the analog system and, as other reviewers have pointed out, this system should probably be confined to the bedroom. . Both systems have their various strengths and weaknesses but in my opinion the sony soundbar is a far better choice for tv audio - a medium with the kind of content that demands the comprehension of speech and rapid dialog, often with distracting background sounds. Analog music recordings are typically preferable, but tv programming benefits from digital audio in many ways - its transparent clarity and its flexibility, for example. . The ct-290 hosts five distinct pre-programmed sound profiles ("sound effects") that are initiated by the push of a button on its handy remote, with the labels "voice", "night", "clear audio", and "movie music". Their purpose is to quickly call up an appropriate "sony-remembered sound field. Optimized according to playback content and function". Depending on content and hearing sensitivity, these alternatives can vary from very subtle to quite obvious, but they all work in helpful ways. . This sound system, of course, is not perfect and i had set-up problems as described (and learned a lot in the process). Most buyers will not have the same problems, but my advice to potential buyers is to make sure that their tv can accommodate the ct-290 without disrupting their overall system or network of interrelated devices. Otherwise, the sony sound bar has a lot to offer as a well-built, attractive, feature-rich, and good sounding system that actually performs as advertised.

Theres a little delay that i noticed

Sony XBR43X800E 43-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV 2017 Model

Love it! wonderful picture / clarity, easy to use, love the voice control, access to all apps. Netflix, youtube etc. With ease and velocity! the 43 inch size is great, and actually appears "larger" than it is, because of the sleek design, i bought this tv for my living room, and i am relegated to no more than 43 inches, due to the size of the wall it hangs on. Even though i'd like to have a larger screen, i don't feel cheated with this one at all, because its so nice. I like it so much, i'm thinking of buying another for my bedroom!

Enjoy truly remarkable 4k hdr clarity, colour and contrast. Rediscover every detail in 4k hdr while triluminos display adds a brilliant picture that s closer than ever to real-world colours. And with android tv, find all the entertainment you want, faster than ever.

Sony Xbr43x800e 43-inch 4k Ultra Hd Smart Led Tv 2017 Model (Television) FAQ.

I like this tv. I can't afford the pricier sony's so i got the best one i could afford right now. This purchase was after a lg nightmare so i was determined to investigate a quality television even if it was a little more in price. Thought about samsung but read somewhere that people fall for samsungs because they're cheaper. Not this time buddy. I also got the warranty too. -as a side note, how many times have you driven through your neighborhood and saw a 52" widescreen sticking out of a trash tote on trash day? that's exactly where a lg belongs. Good riddins. Cheap chinese capacitors that happen to blow 2 days after warranty. Make sure you buy yourself some tripp-lite power strips. Good company and product, can't beat the warranty. -Notice from W. Walsh, Victoria

Fantastic picture. Family has been enjoying the high resolution tv that its capable of. Love watching sports and what a difference on how you see the game/movies etc. I had a sony the huge 400 pound 36 inch for over 15 years and never had a problem. Hopefully i will keep getting the same sony quality. The sound quality is good (i checked before i hooked it up to a sound bar system). Easy set up. Packaged nicely no damage at all. I'm glad we made this purchase. We have been using this tv for about a month now completely satisfied.

- Q. HurstI purchased this model because i liked the way the picture looked and i wanted to upgrade to a 4k tv with the intention of watching stuff on a usb flash drive. . Herein lies a few issues and gripes with it. . First my old tv had a swivel stand for easy readjustment, this one does not like many new ones. The stand is a mixture of metallic and plastic materials. It made me nervous to use this thing because of the stand's material composition. Its also held in place by these two plastic feeling tabs with 4 screws. . Second: my freaking box didn't come with the screws. For reference the screws to buy are m4x12 or metric 4 mm diameter by 12 mm length exactly as it appears m4x12 flat heads. I'd made many trips to many stores including where i purchased it and met many sarcastic employees who weren't much help. (apparently it was impossible for the screws to be missing. Thanks frys! ) go to ace hardware to purchase them, they are very organized and helpful. . Third: usb flash drive issues, this one took me a while to figure out. (before you chop my head off and say usb supply their own power read this part first) so my plan to use a usb flash drive to watch content on it failed to work after day 3, tried reformatting from ntfs back to fat32 to no avail. So a 2nd usb drive later and some butt mad later i tried something out the box. I stuck the usb drives both fat32 and ntfs in my pc for a few hours to "charge" them ( i know they are supposed to use little to no power) but at this point i just wanted to try it and what do you know it started working again. Again this is a very odd issue but it seems to be necessary to continue using a flash drive on this tv. If anybody knows the real culprit i will gladly acknowledge it. . It comes with an ir receiver thing to use with other products like a dvd player, . . Salesman informed me it is 120hz, but it seems more like 60 hz. . Tv has really decent built in speakers though, i am not an audiophile so the first day i popped in 2012 in 4k i thought somebody was breaking into my home but it turns out it was the speakers throwing sound around me. . Side viewing angle kind of sucks though, which makes a non adjustable stand suck even more. . Upscales nicely, from old dvd's to 1080p blurays, although it appears sound in the media has to match the quality for it to be good. . Menus are a tad laggy, i suppose because its android. . Another note on the stand position it well so that you can access the back, i am not confident in the stand's durability so make sure you can access the back panel well before placing it down. . I give it a 8/10 overall, enjoying it very much. . Usb update:. . I did more testing with more devices, this time a western digital external hdd my book usb 3. 0 with its own supplied power. While this did alleviate the power issues i mentioned in my review, this tv is simply too finicky to work with usb devices. . 1 if you have too many folders/files on the device, it will need to rescan for every single item in the disk. So i would recommend only having up to maybe 40-50 files. Because the tv's ui is a bit clunky, it displays all available files in large squares. This makes scanning for files extremely long especially in my case since i had maybe around 1000 files on this usb disk. . 2 despite being able to see where i left off and powering the tv down (i finished watching an episode in a series then pressed back to leave it on the folder where the series files all were. ) after turning it on the next day i would play the next or same file and it would run for a while like normal. However after about 2-3 minutes it will error and say cannot play video, and i know this isn't true since it is literally a file i have watched or played fine before on this tv. To alleviate this: i would have to go back to the app videos or make it go back to hdd device home or folders, it would then rescan and i would have to re navigate back to the folder where i was and it would work. Sometimes it takes a couple more tries for it to work properly.

Picture very clear. It was a little hard to set up with our cable system. Needs more info on setting up.

Yamaha YAS-107BL Sound Bar Dual Built-In Subwoofers & Bluetooth Black

This is a great sound bar and a huge upgrade to the built-in speakers on my tv. Setup was simple and the sound is amazing. Great bass even though it doesn't have a separate sub-woofer. I have it connected to a samsung tv via hdmi arc so that my tv remote controls the sound bar. Although for some reason, the sound bar doesn't turn on when i turn on the tv. Connecting via bluetooth to my devices was simple.

Experience your favorite tv shows, movies and music with clear, dynamic sound. This ultra-slim sound bar fits discreetly in front of your tv or on a shelf, or can be rotated for low-profile wall mounting. Setup is a breeze with a simple connection to your tv while bluetooth lets you wirelessly stream from your mobile devices, echo or echo dot.

- X. HaywardIt's great. I bought it for someone as a gift. They did not want a subwoofer just a nice clean look. This sound bar delivered beyond my expectations. If you want deep bass than you have an option to do so which in my opinion is great. Kudos yamaha! when i decide to upgrade my home theater sound system yamaha will definitely be on my radar.

Great sound, doesn't make voices that much clearer, but definitely an improvement over speakers in tv. Basic operation is simple enough, doing anything more complicated is confusing when you are working with tiny lights in various sequences on top of unit to tell you what you are doing.

Sony XBR55X930E 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV 2017 Model , Works Alexa

Sony have really outdone themselves with 930e. The hdr is awesome on this tv and blacks are really black. It's as close as you will get to oled blacks. I bought this tv for gaming first and movie watching second. So, if you are a gamer like myself, you will be in for a treat with this tv. Works great for gaming with no lag issues online or offline. I tested a ps4 pro, xbox one and xbox 360 so far with great results. The games i tested have been. Ps4 pro 4k hdr are, resogun the last of us, and ffx. In 4k its rez, and rise of the tomb raider. Using my denon receiver to upscale 1080p to 4k offline and online on xbox one it s, cod mw and iw, gow 4, halo 5 and the division. Xbox 360 its outland and bayonetta. All these games looked great. They were very rich in blacks and color and i had no motion issues. The one thing it all comes down too, is having the right settings for gaming. Once you find the correct ones, the tv is a spectacle. . Overall, i m extremely happy with the 930e and i'm glad i chose it over the 900e. Some may prefer fald over edge lit, but i think 930e is a great example of a well done edge lit display. It may still have some minor issues, but nothing that would stop you from really enjoying any content. If you can afford the extra cash over the 900e, i think you'll be better off with the 930e. Adding some bias lighting made a difference on this set at night because it can be bright. Oh and the ffx movie (bundled with the ffx special edition game) looks insane on the animation preset of the tv. I changed some settings on it, but i ve never seen such great picture quality on digital animation. I was blown away. I felt like i just saw the movie for the first time. Also popped in john wick and mad max: fury road and they both looked great upscaled. On top of the, it's hdr future proof with updates coming for dolby vision and hlg. . Highly recommended set for for mixed usage.

Enjoy 4k hdr entertainment on our x930e with android tv. With the new slim backlight drive, this television offers extraordinary brightness in an ultra-thin design and with the incredible performance of the 4k hdr processor x1 extreme, everything you watch is improved to near 4k hdr quality.

Sony can't be beat. I had purchased a more expensive lg from costco and i hated the remote and there were problems with the speakers. I returned it. I thought i would have to go a couple days without a tv in the living room - online store said it would be delivered on a tuesday - it was delivered on saturday - the day before i returned the lg. Hooray. I do not need a sound bar with this sony and the picture is great. (now if sony would only go back into the computer business. ) -Notice from C. Lewis, Ohio

I purchased this television about 3 weeks ago from best buy when it was on sale for $1499. My previous television was the 2016 sony xbr49x800d. The 800d is a good solid budget/midrange 4k tv. I am big ps4 gamer and movie viewer so i wanted to upgrade my television to something more on the high end. Best buy has a very nice sony section and they had the 930e on display with the 7. 1 sony ht-st5000 dolby atmos sound bar playing pacific rim. I was in love and mesmerized when i saw the 930e in action. I did not have enough $ at the time so i when i saw that the television got a nice drop in price i had to pull the trigger. The android television and menu setup is exactly the same from my x800d so it took me literally 10-15 min to set the television up. I had my 49" hooked up the sony ht-nt5 sound bar and the sony ubp-x800 ultra hd player so i just switched the sound bar and uhd player over to the 930e. The ht-nt5 has 3 hdmi inputs that support 4k 60hz and hdr. I purchased 2 sony srs-zr5 speakers to add to the sound bar for wireless rears so i have surround sound 5. 1 setup instead of the 2. 1 from just the sound bar alone. The ps4 pro, ultra hd player, and cable box all play nicely connected to the sounbar then out to the 930e. . For 4k hdr gaming the 930e performs 10/10. Wipeout hd remaster, uncharted lost legacy, horizon zero dawn, destiny 2, injustice 2, ghost recon wild lands, and others all look fantastic on this television. The hdr really pops and is in another league compared to my x800d. The motion handling is also outstanding. The color is very good. I know its not oled good but for an led its top tier. The hdr really shines on this television. I am hoping sony has an upgraded ht-st5000 sound bar ces 2018 next month because i want to upgrade my sound bar since my television has been upgraded. Movies on this set is impressive and even in a very dark room. The blooming to me does not bother me and i knew this going in that the television would have this issue. So far i have watched kings men 2 the golden circle, spiderman homecoming, king arthur, star trek beyond, and star trek into darkness all in 4k and hdr and the clarity and color along with the great motion handling and amazing hdr really makes this television great in my opinion. . The one negative thing i would have to say about the television is that it gets warmer compared to my xbr49x800d. I would guess this is due to the backlight system it uses. I have the television in a well ventilated area also so hopefully its just normal for this television. I will be keeping my eye on it especially in the summer time where in southern california the weather can be hot.

Sony-xbr55x930e-55-inch-4k-ultra-hd-smart-led-tv-2017-model-(television) set picture

- . DorineI've had the tv about 2 months now and i love it. The colors and clarity are truly amazing. All of sony's software and processing helps to create amazing images. Default settings are a little warm for my personal taste, but give a solid picture out of the box. With a little tweak of the settings tv gives very vibrant colors and deep blacks. . The audio from the unit is higher than the average newer big screen since it comes with 6 speakers built in, 2 being tweeters, 2 mid range and 2 woofer, giving it a nice balanced sound without the need for a soundbar. . Has lots of options for quick menus and remote even has a custom programmable quick input button allowing you to instantly go to any input with a single press. . Biggest downside to me is that is does take a couple minutes for the apps and google play stuff to really stop lagging. The screen will instantly turn on, but apps will sometime take a minute or so to instantly register inputs from remote.

I have been in the market for a new tv and have bought and test several this week for the samsung 9500 to sony 850d and the lg b6. This tv is very very nice. After having the 850d for a few days i just could not live with the washed out blacks the tv produced. So i returned and tried out the samsung 9500 and the lg oled b6. . First off let me say a few things about this sony 930e. It's an awesome tv by far. The iq is what you expect from a flagship tv. The black levels are close to that of the lg oled b6. After comparing the 930e and the b6 side by side i have a few things i wanted to discuss. The black levels of 930e are very dark however what i have noticed compared to the b6 was that the 930e picked up some blue/purple in the blacks where the b6 was just back. I also noticed that the 930e is very bright to the point where the whites and bright areas get washed out and have clipping. You lose detail in the bright areas if you have this bad boy at max brightness which really defeats the purpose of a tv going so bright. It's just about unusable light. Especially if you use the x1 extended settings on high. The lg b6 handled the bright areas better than the 930e perhaps because it's not as bright. I have the 930e down at 20 on the bright setting and it looks good and bright in both day and night. The 930e seems to be sharper than the lg b6 straight out the box however there are tweaks you can to the lg to nearly match the sharpness of the 930e but i would say that there seems to be more detail in the sony 930e than both samsung 9500 and the b6. If you are into that soap opera effect the sony does a great job with it especially in the motion part. It surpasses the 850d and the 930d by far in that respect. Although the lg did does a great job as well i think the 930e handled jutteering and motion better. Skin tones on the sony tvs seam like they pick up green tint and i have not been able to figure out how to get it out. I do not like that green hue to skin tones it does especially in lower light scenes. The lg seams to have better skin tones more natural. Hdr viewing so far is better on the lg b6. I have streamed some 4k hdr from netflix and yeah the lg out performs the sony. More detail in the darkest blacks in the lg over the sony 930e. Colors are rich and vibrant and and probably the reds and yellows are deeper and more saturated often times on the sony but blues and better on the lg. Not in every movie which is weird because there are some movies where the colors are better than the sony. What i found was that with the lg b6 i had to crank up the saturation color +10 to match the sonys vibrance. I also noticed that background blurs and gradients are waayy better on the sony 930e. It's like night and day. Very smooth transitions from light to dark espcially in sky's. Where the lg b6 is more grainy. Folks this tv has to be the best altertnative to oled right now in the price range and if you are only viewing from the front there is no hesitation that this tv would be the top choice. However this tv falls very short from off center viewing. It's absolutely horrible! and this is why i gave it 4 stars. This was the only thing that i just can't get over. For the price you are paying you would expect a wider viewing angle. My king chair is off to the right of the tv and everything is brighter and you lose your deep blacks which this tv is all about and for that reason the lg b6 wins in off center viewing. If you want to. It a tv so that the whole room can get the best colors and picture oled is where it's at hands down and worth the extra $200 but if you only will be watching from the center. This is then the sony 930e is the tv to buy and you will be amazed at the picture quality. It's a giant step forward from the 930d.

Sony UBP-X800 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Player

Love this blu ray player. Works exactly as described and can see big difference from my old blu ray and this one. Clear bright picture. Highly recommend for the new ultra hd.

Come home to a more immersive experience with 4k hdr playback and the amazing realism of dolby atmos surround sound, plus the incredible detail of hi-res audio. Built for optimum video and audio performance, this universal uhd player plays almost any format, including 4k hdr streaming, and even streams music to different rooms.

Sony UBP-X800 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray PlayerSony-UBP-X800-Ultra-Blu-ray-Player

Sony Ubp-x800 4k Ultra Hd Blu-ray Player 2017 Model (ubp x800) FAQ.

Firstly, this is a large, heavy, and beefy (functions) 4k blu ray player. If you remember the first dvd players that came out in the early oughts (2000) and how heavy they were - and also how they long they lasted, this is the feeling you will get with the x800. Weight: 8. 5 lb ( 4kg). Dimensions: 17"width x 10"depth x 2. 2"height ( 43cm x 25cm x 6cm). . When picking it up, it feels like quality because of the weight, the metal casing, and the 'solid' placement in your hands or if things are stacked on top (which i don't recommend). . The main purpose of this player is to play 4k blu ray movies. The latter is usually labeled fairly conspicuously over the top of the movie box. The reason for the new player is mainly because regular blu ray players cannot play 4k movies, not to mention if you have a 4k tv you want to be able to get full use of it. The good news is that regular blu rays *can* be played on this 4k player, with them being upscaled to match the 2160p format. What this means, if you don't already know, is that a program within the 4k player will 'guess' at what pixels should be used from your 1080p source to expand the pixel count/resolution to match the 2160p resolution. Going further:. . -upscaling- . 2160p (4k) has 8. 5 million pixels. Anytime you watch anything 4k on your tv, the screen is being filled with that many pixels. 1080p (hd) has 2 million pixels. If you are watching a regular blu ray on this 4k player in a 2160p resolution setting, there are 6. 5 million 'missing' pixels. So the player will guess the 6. 5 million pixels based on what's available in the original 1080p source. I can say this turns out really well with this player. 1080p blu-rays, while still being eye pleasingly sharp and detailed, look even more so with this player on a 4k tv. While it's not as 'organic' as a regular 4k blu-ray, it still is very impressive to watch your old collection with this upscaling. . That being said, let's get to the player:. . -speed- . . Loading of 4k movies is relatively fast and about the same as my blu-ray player. Nothing really to notice here. Even when navigating and using the included apps, it is fairly snappy. . -wifi- . . This uses a wifi card with mimo and maxed out my connection. Nothing to be said here: fast, responsive, no drops. Just like my pc card. . -bluetooth- . . Has a bluetooth connection where you can use bluetooth headphones to watch your movies in silence. Worked great with me sitting about 15ft away. . -quality- . . Not much to say here except that for what my 4k tv could give was a beautiful, clear and as precise a picture you could want. In result, i don't believe the x800 is the bottleneck as it outputs exactly 'as is' from the source material. . -hdmi cables- . . Hopefully you read this portion before you purchase new cables. First: if you need a hdmi cable longer than 30 ft, then you actually would do well to purchase an hdmi 2. 0a, for example. For those of you that do not need a 30ft cable, you can be happy to know that you likely can keep your existing hdmi cable and have zero issues. I know i did. Generally you need a certain throughput (around 18 gbps i believe) to get 60fps from a 4k source. Below 30 ft hdmi cables (of all types and version) can usually handle this with no problems. Moreover, remember most movies are 24 fps, so this is all moot for the most part and generally only tied to live action 60fps 4k television. To sum up, though, if you aren't using a cable greater than 30ft, you can probably keep your regular hdmi. Save the money for some 4k movies! . . -outputs/inputs- . . 1 x rear coaxial. 1 x ethernet. 2 x rear hdmi. 1 x front usb. . The idea here, then, is to have an hdmi running to your tv box/tv and one hdmi running to your surround sound. . -freebies- . . This player comes (in the box) with 4k blu rays: 1. The magnificent seven (2016) and 2. Ghostbusters (2016). It says you also can pick two more if you register when you first get it. I suppose this means you get 4 free movies. . *update* i initially said this player comes with 2 movies in the box, and i don't believe that to be true when you buy at retail. The reason why my unit came with 2 movies, i believe, is because mine was a review unit. So, being on the safe side, assume it does not come with movies but you can send off for them. . -. . New technology and early adoption usually means higher pricing. However, the price tag for this is not outlandish and in line with how much i paid for a fairly early, premium blu ray player. It is still running flawlessly. For a player that will keep you future-proofed. Until 8k. This is a premium player that will keep you streaming, 'bluetoothing'. All in high resolution hdr/uhd. -Notice from H. Marguerite, Nevada

This player is built very well and works great.

Sony-ubp-x800-4k-ultra-hd-blu-ray-player-2017-model-(ubp-x800) set picture

- X. WeberWorks great so far with my denon 7. 2 4k receiver and vizio 70" 4k flat screen. Only have one 4k blu-ray: everest. But it was amazing.

Included with the player are the instructions, remote control, and batteries. . Although the instruction manual is pretty thin and lacking, the player was very quick and easy to setup with my tv. After connecting to my network, the player immediately notified me of a firmware update which i did before first using the player. For some reason though, it had me go through the setup again after the update, although all of my previous settings had been saved and i just had to hit continue. The current firmware update takes about 5 minutes or so to do and is supposed to improved network stability and uhd compatibility. As it seems to be with electronics and software of all brands these days, the initial firmware is buggy and the firmware update should be the first thing you do before using the player. . I have previously been using a sony bdps790 that i have been mostly happy with (minus a couple issues) for the last 3 to 4 years. I recently got a true 4k tv and although the 790 has worked well with it, i decided to get the x800 mainly because it is a true 4k blu-ray player whereas the 790 is a 4k upscaling player and not true 4k one. . One of the issues that i have with the 790 and sony for that matter is that they have seemingly stopped updating the apps on the player, even though the player is only about 3 to 4 years old. The netflix app on the player, for example, is an older version that doesn t have the same features and options that the latest version has. It has also been a while since the last firmware update for the 790 as well, which i guess is sony s way of forcing you to upgrade to a new player eventually. . Another issue with the 790 player is the difficultly in streaming certain video formats over a nas/dlna link. Although it would play most formats with a usb hard drive plugged directly into it, it would refuse to play some formats (such as mkv) over the network. I was a little nervous about the x800 having the same issues, especially after reading the thin instruction manual which had asterisks beside the formats that it can play, indicating it may or may not play those over the network. I am currently using a tm nas on my network, which has several different streaming protocols that can be set to boot up. So, i tried to play several different video formats, including avi, mp4, mkv and mpg and to my surprise, the x800 streamed all the video without an issue. At least so far, it looks like the formats that i use, the player can handle via streaming but according to the instructions the streaming may not be issue free on some formats. . I also connected my usb external hard drive, which is a wd 3 tb drive, to the usb port of the player. One improvement in design over the 790 that sony made was moving the usb port from the back of the 790 to the front of the x800, making it easier to connect and use. The usb cable does get in the way from time to time if you are using the disk tray though. It is an improvement in location, but i do think a port(s) on the side or both sides of the player might be a better choice as it would be easy to connect and still be out of the way of the front of the player and the disk tray. The connected usb hard drive was quickly recognized and i was able to play all the formats that i tried including video, music and photos. As with the 790, not all formats will work flawlessly but i found this player s ability to play a variety of formats to work better than the 790. . I personally like the cleaner interface of the 790 more than the x800 which follows the trend started with windows 8 and sort of looks a bit like what the ps4 looks like with the large icons all over the screen. It isn t terrible but it did take me some time to figure out where things are, something i had no issue with on the cleaner menu of the 790. . The initial boot up time is the player is faster than the older 790 and initializes with the network much faster than the 790 blu-ray player. When trying to open netflix, the 790 sometimes would error or take several tries to connect with the network, an issue that i have yet to have with the x800. . The netflix app on the x800 is the latest version and worked well. The various apps load quickly and work over my network with no issues or pauses but of course you are limited to what sony decides to include or add as far as streaming apps. I am using a cable modem along with a r7000 a/c router along with an extender in the home, so keep in mind that your mileage may vary depending on the network setup you have. The video on the streaming apps is sharp and what you would expect from a good quality player. The sound sent to the surround receiver is also good as well. . Blu-ray and dvd disks load quickly with the player with no issues. Blu-rays look great on the player. The x800 has the ability to play uhd disks but i have yet to try those as sony s uhd movie bonus is no longer included with the player. . The remote has most of the essential buttons and in logical locations, including a quick access netflix button but it is a bit smaller than the 790 s remote and feels slightly flimsier than the older remote. The number pad has been eliminated in the x800 s remote. So far though, i haven t really missed the number pad and haven t noticed any lacking buttons that i think i would need. . The bluetooth feature is also nice for adding wireless headphones and things like that. . At its regular price (approximately 300), i think that the player is a bit pricey, however if you can find it on sale at the price (149) that i grabbed it, then it is worth the price even if the player isn t quite perfect. . Pros:. Quick, easy setup. Immediately notifies of firmware updates. True 4k including support for 4k streaming apps. Streams a variety of video/music/photo file formats (see cons). Recognizes large hard drives via usb. Plays most formats via usb hard drive. Improved usb port location (see cons). Quick boot up time. Quick network recognition. Works well with streaming apps. Uses current version of apps (see cons). Works well with a variety of blu-rays, uhd, dvd s and cd s. Beautiful picture and good sound. Bluetooth. Good quality well-made player. 2 hdmi ports. . Cons:. Manual is a bit lacking. Firmware update a bit slow and takes you through setup process again. Firmware updates may not keep up with latest versions of apps over time (based on previous experience with previous sony players). Some file formats may not work reliably over the network or not at all. Location of usb port may cause usb cable to get in the way of the disk tray. Menu interface a bit cluttered and some functions difficult to find. Bonus uhd s no longer included. Remote smaller and feels flimsier, no number pad. Limited app choices. No front display. Pricey at regular price. . 4 stars

ECHOGEAR Tilting TV Wall Mount With Low Profile Design 32-70 inch TVs - Eliminates Screen Glare With 15 Degrees of Smooth Tilt - Easy Install With All Hardware Included - EGLT1-BK

A well engineered device that was easy to assemble and affix to the wall. There are three things that could be improved. One, adjusting the tilt with the tv in place was very difficult. The mount could have been fitted with a friction slider that would allow the tv tilt to be easily set without the need to remove it from the wall. Two, the wall mounted component must be absolutely level in order that the tv be level. It would not have been difficult to enlarge the mounting slots slightly vertically so as to make micro adjustments to horizontal level. Three, there were two different lengths of bolts provided (35mm and 12mm) to affix the back bracket to the tv. Neither was correct for my tv (tcl) which required 20mm bolts. This was a minor, but irritating, set back as a quick trip to the hardware store solved the problem.

Echogear Tilting Mount Profile Design (fba eglt1 bk) FAQ.

So far, so good. I have weird studs in my walls (some are 16", some 24", etc. ) and this was wide enough to work. I have a 55" samsung on it and it feels sturdy. No shimmies or shakes. I have a toddler in my house, so it's mounted much higher than normal and the tilt has a good depth for watching from below. -Notice from . Audrey, Bradford

I purchased this wall mount after reading other peoples reviews and i am pretty happy with it. There is no reason to go out and waste a ton of money on more expensive wall mounts when this one does the trick. I used it to hang my samsung un65js8500 4k tv and i am totally confident with it hanging on my wall. The only reason i didn't give it 5 stars is with my 65in tv it is somewhat difficult to tighten the security screws to lock it into place once on the wall. I did manage to tighten them it was just hard to reach. Same thing with tightening the locks for the tilt. Those are hard to reach with a 65in tv. The hdmi cord is a nice bonus. Very happy with this product!

- . TerryGreat low-profile wall mount. With the help of my roommate, it was quite easy to install. The mount comes with all the screws you should need to mount onto wood studs. Not 100% sure this mount will work with metal studs, so check before hand! . . The body of the mount (larger rectangular portion) attaches to the wall via the studs, and the longer vertical rails go onto the back of your tv. Then you simply have to hang the tv onto the rectangular mount. Easy. . Once the tv is hung up, you will have about 3"-4" of clearance to slide the tv left and right on the rail. (that is a rough estimate, i could be completely wrong, but it was nice to find that it was not static in one placement). . Any monitor that has vesa mount capabilities should fit fine on this mount.

This is a nice kit with all the parts you need to mount your tv to the wall. The instructions are clear and simple. The project took about 15-20 minutes and most of that time was bs'ing with a friend. We've had the tv mounted now for about a month and there have been no issues

Sony Ct800 Powerful Sound Bar 4k Hdr Google Home Support 2017 Model (htct800) FAQ.

I've had the ht ct800 for about a week now, and i'm extremely happy with it. I've tested previous sony models including the ht ct390 and the ht ct790 in big-box stores, and this feels like a major step up from those, which were already great to start with. Setup was extremely easy - i happen to have a sony bravia tv which has an arc-enabled hdmi port, so it's one cable to the soundbar, one plug into the wall and you're up and running. The wireless subwoofer requires absolutely no setup, just plug it into the wall and you're done. The whole system fills the room extremely well (and i have a relatively small one-bedroom apartment, but in a larger space there's no question it still would) and can output some serious volume if you want it to. . I always have music on in my living room when not watching tv, and the ht-ct800 delivers there too. Bluetooth connectivity is a nice, standard touch too, although i haven't had a need to use it yet, due to the built-in support for spotify connect and google cast (now chromecast built-in). These were a major selling point for me, and they work flawlessly without the need to turn on the tv, which is excellent. The google home support is nifty too and works well. . Overall i'm extremely happy, and would happily recommend the ht-ct800 to anyone wanting to upgrade from their tv sound. -Notice from K. Sandra, Louisiana

One of my greatest purchases online . Solid punchy bass and since the sub is wireless i can hide it behind my couch . Enough power to fill up my entire living area. The only lesson i learned was to use the hdmi cable provided with the soundbar use that one only because that cable supports 4k and will sync with the tv without any trouble. I tried first with one of my existing hdmi and couldn't make it to work. Now its all perfect and works really well with my 65inch bravia. It has some great features and all, still exploring. Overall, its a great product and definitely a killer!

Yamaha YAS-207BL Sound Bar Wireless Subwoofer Bluetooth & DTS Virtual Black

Awesome system. I just wish my cat didn't find the subw. Covering so darn tasty. I love that my tv remote works with this item so flawlessly, and the sound is great. If i had to give it a knock though, i wish you could update the firmware through an app rather than through a thumb-drive, but for the quality of sound it produces that's a small / minor inconvenience.

Yamaha YAS-207BL Sound Bar Wireless Subwoofer Bluetooth & DTS Virtual BlackYamaha-YAS-207BL-Wireless-Subwoofer-Bluetooth

Yamaha Yas 207bl Wireless Subwoofer Bluetooth (Speakers) FAQ.

Really impressed, especially considering the price. My current setup consists of rx-v681 yamaha receiver + jbl floor standing speakers + center speaker. I recently bought a smaller oled tv for my den and needed a simple, versatile setup. I play guitar and consider myself a discerning, demanding customer. I am certainly an audiophile. . Pros:. 1) very rich sound in 3d surround mode, both for music and movies. Sounds superior to both lg and vizio in my opinion. I did install the dts virtual:x firmware update from yamaha official website. The firmware update was supposed to come out in august 2017, however, yamaha managed to push it out much earlier on july 19th. 2) easy, straightforward setup. Simple update procedure via usb stick. 3) powerful wireless subwoofer rocks. 4) support for the latest and greatest 4k technologies - hdmi hdcp 2. 2. 5) slim, space-saving design. . Cons:. 1) could've been sexier-looking. Wish speaker cover was made out of metal, not cloth. 2) yamaha's remote control app (ios) works well, however, it is somewhat ugly. 3) no support for wi-fi playback such as google chromecast, spotify connect, etc. Google chromecast audio dongle fixes all that for $35 or so. . Please note that i wasn't not able to compare dts virtual:x with dolby atmos. . Conclusions:. Incredible bang for the buck - rich, immersive sound for less than $300 in a compact, lightweight, easy-to-setup package. Highly recommended! . . Update: i see that many people complain in their reviews that "the sound doesn't seem to come from above in surround mode as expected given that the sound bar supports dts virtual:x (aka "dts:x") technology. We are not impressed - doby atmos is better. ". . Please keep in mind that in order to experience dts:x, you need both the hardware and the content to support the format. In other words, not only you need to have your yamaha yas-207 with the latest firmware update installed, the audio source (e. G. Uhd disk) has to have a dts:x sound track encoded on it as well. You won't hear 11. 1 sound while watching pacific rim in 4k - the uhd lacks dts virtual:x soundtrack - it only has dts-hd master audio 7. 1. The sound will be surround but not dts:x surround. . You will, however be able to enjoy the dts:x sound while watching battleship in 4k - assuming your 4k player is set up correctly sending out non-pcm but dolby/dts sound (dd/dts button is lit green while it plays the movie, and the surround button is lit blue). . Hello, i am not one to leave a lot of reviews unless i'm feeling very passionate about sharing an incredible experience with a product i feel is really worth it. I must tell you, the yas-207 is amazing. I am not an audiophile. I'm just a regular guy, new to sound bars, who was looking for a decent bar to improve my tv/movie and bluetooth music experience. I purchased the yas-207 as my first ever sound bar and it had big shoes to fill as i was simplifying and this bar was replacing a 5. 1 denon/hk surround sound system. Obviously, i knew the sound would not on the same level as my 5. 1 system. . The first time i heard the yas-207 and not having any previous experience with sound bars, i thought it sounded pretty good, but i still questioned if i should have bought a more expensive bar. However, i upgraded the firmware to allow the dts surround sound function and wow! i sat on the couch and played some music and i found myself quickly becoming lost in the sound. What a pleasurable experience it was. . I really enjoyed the sound of the yas-207, but not having any previous experience with sound bars i still felt like i needed to look at more expensive ones to really get a feel for any differences. The next day i was talked into purchasing a klipsch sound bar from a big box store for $399. I thought, well the klipsch has to be better based on price alone and the salesman was ecstatic about klipsch. I took it home and hooked the klipsch up right away and what an unbelievable disappointment. This morning, i hooked the yas-207 back up and was instantly blown away after having listened to the klipsch over the previous 24 hours. Listening to this system after installing the firmware upgrade reminded me of the bose store experience where you go in their demo movie room and you're just blown away by sound only to discover the sound was coming from these tiny hidden speakers the whole time. Obviously, this system is not on par with a bose surround sound system, but that feeling of immersive and deep breath of music surrounding you is legit with the yas-207. I will be happily keeping the yas-207 and highly recommending it to everyone i know, especially the salesman at the big box store when i return the klipsch system today. . So that is my experience and like i said i'm not an audiophile, but there were several things i really like about the yas-207. The yamaha app is a nice feature to control the unit. The speaker and subwoofer are well built and feel sturdy. The design of the bar is very sleek and attractive. The subwoofer is powerful and hearty sounding. The remote control that comes with the unit is okay, but most sound bar remotes i've seen seem to be cheap. I wish the remote had back/forward/play/pause buttons which would allow to play/pause or go to the previous or next track if playing music. The instructions were clear and setting up the system was a breeze. I have no complaints and i am more than happy with this purchase and price point. This system is half of what my budget was for a sound bar and i couldn't be happier with it. I would highly recommend the yas-207 for anyone looking for a sound bar in the $200-$400 range. Just a reminder though. Make sure you do the firmware update (done via usb stick) to really allow the yas-207 to shine. Thanks for reading and hopefully this encourages somebody to purchase this system so they may have the same experience i have had. I am truly impressed with yamaha. They hit a home run in my books with this one.

- T. AnnetteVery good for the price. Sounds good. Looks nice. What more do you want?

Just bought this from yahama and it's one of the best soundbars you will ever need ! . I have tried a few from samsung to bose solo . To bose 300 and now this and don't get me wrong the bose 300 was a great soundbar but it is a 600 dollar soundbar. And this for the price you can't beat it! . It sounds amazing and great bass! i recommend it to everyone .

Sony Xbr55x800e 55-inch 4k Ultra Hd Smart Led Tv 2017 Model (Television) FAQ.

I purchased this model because i liked the way the picture looked and i wanted to upgrade to a 4k tv with the intention of watching stuff on a usb flash drive. -Notice from Z. Eleanor, Bournemouth

- B. CampbellIt was time for a new sony and the xbr-43x800 is exactly what i hoped for. Described perfectly and the netflix feature is wonderful. The picture is brilliant and i am sure this sony will last for years. To save product weight, new electronics use an ac adaptor in-line with the electric plug. Although cumbersome, it is the only negative i can offer in a review. I use a zvox sound bar for added audio power and i'm extremely happy with my purchase.

Very pleased. Already have a 43x800d aka last year's model of the same tv. I was pleased enough with it to buy this newer one for use in a different room. I find the newer model enough of an improvement in my situation to justify spending the difference in price. The older tv had a noticeable fall-off in picture color quality when viewed from an angle; a problem the new design overcomes. Having said that, if you will be watching last year's model mostly face-on, and the price difference is substantial, you will be happy with the older model.

The F.A.Q. for sony xbr55x900e 55-inch 4k ultra hd smart led tv 2017 model , works with alexa

Like another reviewer, i held off purchasing a 4k tv until black friday of 2017. I originally looked at purchasing a samsung ks8000 based on reviews but those are super hard to find now. I looked at the mu8000, but a lot of sites recommended the x900e over most models in the medium budget range. I use rtings. Com almost exclusively to compare different models and get the reviews on the major features i am looking for (hdr, wide color gamut, local dimming, and input lag). Based on what i was looking for, pretty much gaming with future potential for 4k blu ray, i went with the sony xbrx900e. So far i am completely happy and satisfied with my choice. First off definitely research online and don't only base your decision from what you see at a local store. I always go into my local best buy to get a first-hand look but you can't know what you are actually getting unless you research online (specs like brightness, hdr, input lag, wide color gamut, etc). . This tv is awesome when you have a ps4 pro or xbox one (x) like me, and are going from no 4k and no hdr to this tv with those features. No lag, hdr is awesome, colors and brightness make games more immersive. The smart capabilities of this tv are great for streaming 4k content (online store and youtube). If you have an xbox one x, i recommend this tv over most in the range. This is definitely a great buy for what you get. . Likes:. 1: the specs - obviously it's a great tv. I won't go into much detail about the specs because you can find that info anywhere. 2: the stand - i have a small-ish tv wooden desk/stand that i'm using, and most tv's have the stand on the far end of the tv. This was one of the very few with a center stand. It works great with virtually any size of desk or stand you're using. I didn't have to worry about measuring. That, and i would be afraid of someone/something knocking one of the stand legs off of my current stand if i got one with 4 legs. 3: ease of use - it's a fairly simple system to use once you get used to it. This depends on what tv you're coming from. 4: plenty of inputs/outputs. 5: side-mounted inputs/outputs. If you're mounting this tv, this will be helpful. If you want your tv close to the wall. This will be helpful. 4: compatibility with xbox one x's amazing specs and hdr. 5: powers on quickly. 6: isn't laggy and is very responsive. 7: shipping - this puppy was packaged beautifully. One thing i hate about tv's these days is how cumbersome it is to physically set them up. The stand is put together in a genius manner, making setup time about 5 minutes. Everything securely locks into place and gives the owner confidence. It came extremely well-packaged and protected, with multiple layers of packaging materials. Nothing could damage this thing in transit. 8: the cords can be routed through the stand legs, hiding them if you desire. Very neat. . Dislikes:. 1: i don't care for the remote; it's basic though and does the job - just lacks features. 2: the sound quality is par/sub-par. I want to get a soundbar now. 3: the audio variants (i. E. Voice vs theater presets) are interesting and helpful if you don't have a soundbar, but you can't change them when streaming content so you can hear the differences real time. It takes a second to change then you have to play whatever it was you're streaming to hear the changes. I don't understand why sony didn't have them update it real-time to hear the changes. A small annoyance when first setting it up.

Pros:. - picture quality is amazing. - the android tv functions are great; it's very easy to watch youtube, netflix, online store prime, hbo go, twitch, plex, etc. . Cons:. - sometimes you have to press the power button 2-3 times for the tv to actually come on. - sony installed a bunch of bloatware that's impossible to remove. I was able to at least hide most of the pointless junk the top of the main menu through some settings changes, but they still seem to come back sometimes. I really wish there was a way to just get rid of all that stuff

I purchased this tv through online store, everything is working very well and i am amazed by the picture quality. The wireless connection is very stable and i can stream contents in 4k with no issues at all plus the tv speakers do a really decent job. I scanned for tv channels and it works really good with uhf vhf antennas. I also plugged in a usb flash drive and the image is truly amazing on this tv. The android "side" is perfect and it's very easy scroll through the screen, no lag or waiting time when using the android tv. I also updated the tv as soon as i turned it on and it didn't take very long to do the update. After everything was done i didn't notice any lag or any of the other issues. I didn't try to connect the cable cause i don't like it. I also connected my gaming pc with gtx 980 ti and wow looks great and it responds very very well. I purchased the tv on 1/09/18 and on 1/12/18 online store dropped $500 from the original price, i tried in any way to ask a price match also before the tv was delivered and there was no way to do anything. The first time has been told that was listed by a different seller than online store so the price was not adjustable otherwise. , the second time (next day) the tv was listed by online store at the same lower price but they really didn't care about that. I thought online store was an excellent seller, not anymore for me and thank you very much anyway.

I am writing this review after having this tv for one week thus far. It is excellent in my opinion! i love it and, for me, it was worth every penny. . I like to watch movies in the dark and this is where the tv really excels. When a scene is dark i can still see details in the dark. The top and bottom parts of the screen are so dark as to be almost completely unnoticeable. Only an oled tv is better but it is about 3 times as expensive. . For now, if you want to get a great tv with performance that is very close to that of an oled then i would highly recommend this one. . Also, as part of the purchase, online store arranges to have the tv delivered and set up. As part of the setup you can get the packaging removed. If there is an issue you are not required to have the packaging. Nice!

I ve had the 75 4k hdtv for over a month now and overall it is a great set. However, upgrading from a samsung hd tv, there are some things to note. . Overall (the short version): i would recommend this tv for the picture quality alone. 5 stars. It is magnificent! there are workarounds for the cons listed below, so overall it s a terrific set for 4k content as well as regular hd content. I ve decided to start with the cons to get them out of the way. The pros follow below. . Cons:. . The sony bravia 4k xbr75x900e does not seem to be able to handle internet speeds much higher than 60mbps (wired or connected by lan). This is acceptable for streaming hd on the apps that accompany the set, but 4k content can be iffy. I tried viewing a coral reef video on online store prime in 4k, and it took almost a minute for the picture to catch up to 4k quality. There were a few times the picture lagged. I tried watching a random standup comedy video on netflix in 4k and the server wouldn t connect. This was probably an issue with netflix because when i tried again, the connection worked and seemed to hold a 4k picture in a similar way to the online store app. The youtube app was the same. 4k videos lagged and took some time to catch up. . Luckily, the sony ubp-x800 4k ultra hd blu-ray player (2017 model) i purchased can handle faster internet speeds, so we use the player almost exclusively for streaming 4k content. I ve also read other reviewers mention that chromecast or an fire tv stick with alexa voice remote streaming media player can handle higher internet streaming speeds, so that is something to consider. Also, the tv takes about a minute to connect to wi-fi after it s turned on. Not a big deal, but worth noting. Connected to lan, it connects a little quicker. . Upscaling looks terrible when done on the tv. I wasn t expecting this to be the issue, but once again, the sony ubp-x800 4k ultra hd blu-ray player (2017 model) saved the day! upscale regular blu-ray s on the player, and the picture looks nearly as good as actual 4k. You will notice the difference. We streamed a few older shows from hulu like cheers and seinfeld and they looked great as well. Again, the picture quality is fantastic and worth every penny! . . * hdr update *. I want to thank everyone for their comments about my negative thoughts on hdr. It forced me to do some research on the internet to figure out why hdr looked to terrible on this set. After trial and error, i finally figured it out. You see, i have a home theater system. I bought an onkyo receiver a few years back that was 4k compatible. I did not, however, take into consideration that it might not be hdr compatible. (it's not. ) so, i was running the 4k player through an hdmi cable into the receiver first, and then into the 4k tv. Which means, no hdr content was reaching the tv. So, as one commenter pointed out, i was turning hdr on when no hdr was available, which results in my original comments below, the picture is dark and the colors look cartoonish. . I was wrong! and i'm glad i was wrong. Nobody likes eating crow, but i am happy to do it after i saw hdr for the first time last night. It is awesome! the colors look amazing, the blacks are really dark, and the whites are really white. My wife and i watched coral reef adventure under the prime uhd selection from the online store app directly on the tv. Hdr turned on automatically (as a commenter mentioned it should), and wow! it looked spectacular. . If you, or anyone you know, is experiencing a bad picture when turning hdr on, they must first realize that not all 4k content is presented with hdr. But what really fixed my situation is this: run the hdmi directly from the 4k player to the hdmi "1" slot in the back of the tv. That's all it took to make hdr a reality, the way it was intended. . I'm keeping the original comments in the review in the hopes of helping anyone else who experiences this issue. Thank you again for the comments about how hdr should work. You guys are the best! . . *. *. . *original comments*. Hdr is terrible. This is not the fault of the set, but i want to talk about it here because it s not worth turning on. If it works for you because of bright lighting in the room or whatever, go for it. But for my wife and i, hdr is not needed. Basically, it s an artificial layer added to the original picture source to enhance things. After several days of tweaking with the settings, trying multiple hdr enabled discs, etc. , the picture only got worse with hdr turned on. All it seems to do is make every scene darker, a lot darker. The hdr effect on colors can be weird. There is a slight red push over flesh tones, and sometimes the colors appear cartoonish, like they were drawn in with crayons. It s gimmicky, at best. So, if you re new to 4k, and you re worried that this set won t support dolby vision, don t worry too much about it. The 4k picture alone is beautiful you won t be disappointed with the picture as it is. . Also, on the subject of hdr: there are three options, on, off, and auto. The only time hdr will turn on is when the hdr setting is switched specifically to on. If set to auto, it might as well be set to off because it will never turn on automatically. *. *. . Pros:. . The picture is beautiful! it is a vast improvement over the regular hd picture from our older tv (which looked great as far as 1080p goes). There are many settings to tweak the set to your liking, and the live football mode is perfect for games. When you watch 4k content, you can get up right next to the screen and see amazing details in the background. You probably don t want to watch a movie right up close to the screen, but sometimes it s fun to check out the details of things in the distance. . My wife and i have watched blu-ray movies and uhd 4k movies from discs as well as streaming 4k content (using the separate 4k player), and they all look great. Regular dvd s leave a little to be desired, but i knew that going in, so it s not much of a surprise. What sells this set is the picture! and let s be honest, this is what you re looking for in a 75 4k uhd set. It is spectacular for hd and 4k content! spectacular! . . Games and apps: i play uncharted 4 on a regular ps4 (not the pro) and the details in color are phenomenal. Wow! i can t imagine the game looking any better on a ps4 pro, but i d have to do a side by side comparison to really tell the difference. . *a note on screen mirroring: if you have a samsung galaxy smartphone, it probably will not connect to the tv. The phone will locate the set, but won't connect. Solution: use chromecast or (once again) the sony ubp-x800 4k ultra hd blu-ray player (2017 model)

C. Lynette, Rhode Island says

Update: i bought the 4k hdr back in december as a gift to myself. It is february 2 and i am still impressed with the television and the been watching planet earth 2 on netflix in ultra hd 4k. All i can say it is simply amazing at the clarity of the picture. I am sorry to hear others are having problems with their television. . I bought the sony xbr49x900e and will admit i was scared in purchasing the television. First, the setup was pretty simple and did not hang it on the wall at all. Second, i have a ps4 pro and all i can say is wow! i love it! i starting re-playing horizon zero dawn and all i can say is wow! i can truly see the difference in watching digital movies because of the clarity and crystal clear picture. For the shipping, i had the tv inside of an online store shipping box and in bubble wrap so it was secure. Overall, i love the tv and glad i went with my gut instinct to buy it.

W. Sherry, South Carolina

I'm a tv director so i'm pretty picky about image quality, and getting a good value when i buy gear. After doing a ton of research i was leaning toward the samsung mu8000, and frankly i felt that paying $1300 for that tv was a bit too indulgent, even for me. Oled is also even more stunning but it didn't seem like the picture quality was worth all the extra money, basically twice as much. But a black friday deal on this unit at bb for just $200 more than the samsung tipped the scales and i took the plunge. . A quick tip on comparing tvs: when you go to a store, each brand's display models are purposely setup so the more expensive one has an obviously better picture. Yet that doesn't mean the cheaper tvs can't approach the same image quality, or sometimes beat it. With proper adjustment just about any tv these days can look pretty amazing. Plus, they won't input the same image to different brand tvs, so you can't really compare. It's a bit of a guessing game, and the best you can do is ask to adjust the settings, get a model to look as good as you can, and do the same for another model. But frankly, without the same image on both, it's a bit of a guessing game. I found the testing on rtings to be quite thorough, and that was my primary research method. . On the os, i don't know what the negative reviews about the android os are about, mine works well, very little lag or waiting. The first thing i did was update the firmware, so maybe that's been fixed in the update. Sure, when there's more network traffic it's a little slower than normal, but that's to be expected, and is a function of your bandwidth, not the tv. Also make sure you connect an actual ethernet cable, don't rely on wifi, it's typically much slower, even on 5g, and prone to signal dropouts. . First and foremost, the image quality is stunning. That's the main reason i got it, and i planned to bypass the potentially problematic smart tv functions and use my roku. And compared to my previous samsung 1080 hd tv, this sony 4k unit is pretty impressive. After setting it up (get a smpte color bars video on ytube and learn how to use it), everything was richer, even regular hd content was better than my old samsung. But hdr is supposed to be even more of a difference than 4k. . So then i dug deeper, and found that while 4k (ultra hd) is passed through from my roku 4 to the tv, hdr is not passed through (newer roku "ultra" models apparently do). So i just connected a lan line to the tv, and i now have both the roku and the smart tv functions working. Although i can't do an instant a/b comparison, in about 15 seconds i can switch between smart tv with hdr and the roku without hdr. On the same show, same scene. And yes, the hdr on this set seems a tiny bit better, a little more contrast and detail than non-hdr. But frankly, it's not as big a difference as i expected. Maybe as i watch more ocntent i'll find a bigger difference. But above all, either way gives a pretty stunning picture. . You also have to remember that a lot of the advances in image quality are true for all brands. 4k gives a big improvement, and hdr a little more. It has nothing to do with brands, it's the technology. So many tv's in the same price range can give you a pretty similar image. But the sony seemed jsut a bit more rich, with a bit more contrast, and contrast/ range is a key determinant in image quality. . I have just two gripes, but they aren't deal breakers for me:. 1. The menu options are pretty extensive, but on occasion the menu gets "stuck", when you hit the "home" menu button. Hitting the menu button a 2nd time doesn't make the menu go away as it should, and the only way to get it off the screen is to re-select the input. Other times it works as it supposed to. 2. I wish the picture adjustments i made could be translated among different inputs. In other words, you get it set for, say, online store in the smart tv app. Then you go to another source, say netflix through roku, and the picture is darker. Or sometimes you find differences even between different movies on the same source. And the "auto adjust" function on the tv should fix that in theory, but in practice i didn't like the auto function at all. So i'm constantly adjusting the brightness manually. But that's not necessarily the tv's fault. As the auto sensing technology gets better, i expect they'll have better code that will automatically keep the contrast ratios and color balance you've set across all input sources. . The sound isnt' bad for tv speakers, but after all, they're tiny, lightweight speakers, so you shouldn't expect much. Get an av receiver or a sound bar. . It took a while, but i got all my external devices to play nice with the sony remote, so that's pretty cool that i can do the typical functions on roku and my yamaha av receiver with just the sony remote. And it has all the necessary inputs and outputs, and tons of menu functions to control them. It took me a while to get arc working, but that was more on my receiver end (both the tv and the receiver need to have hdmi control turned on, and turn on arc on the receiver). . Regarding sony service, i've bought tons of gear from sony over the years, including top end broadcast cameras, sound systems, car stereo, and vaio computers. And i've also seen the quality and engineering go downhill over the years, too. In fact, my recent experiences with sony customer service on some top end vaio laptops was so frustrating i vowed never to buy another sony product again. So i had to have a really good reason to get this unit, and the picture quality was so compelling i took the plunge. I can only hope i don't regret this sony purchase. . Would i be just as happy with the samsung? maybe. Probably. But be sure to research the ads that you can't turn off. Samsung has built ads into their smart tv menus that you apparently can't disable at all. You can only disable some ads. That's a big turnoff for me, especially considering how much you pay for a samsung.

Does 1080p/120hz perfectly if you set it up using cru. . Firstly, i use this as a pc monitor mainly at a desk, for that input lag is a bit much, but i dont use it for lag intensive stuff, and have a faster monitor on a swivel arm for when i need that. . Overall the picture quality is really damn good as well, ps4 pro 4k + hdr in games looks great, pc hdr games look amazing (but input lag is horrible for k+m games such as bf1, hitman and ffxv are pretty decent with a controller), hdr movies look great. Did need some calibrating out of the box though. . Love the black frame insertion for gaming, love truecinema mode for stutter free 24p movies. Really a top notch display that cant be beat at this size (i just wish there was a smaller version because 49" is a bit too big for my desk use). . Also, it takes 240p content like a dream (i have my nes hooked up and it works great, if a bit of a muddy picture but i dont mind that. The input lag is far reduced in 480i/p mode)

Received product in perfect condition; ups showed up with 2 guys to bring it to my door. Original packaging was inside another box with plenty of bubble wrap. Android os appears to be fast to me, but maybe they released an update to address the sluggishness other owners reported. Mounted this on the wall. Looks great on xbox and streaming netflix. Overall very satisfied with this purchase.

Purchased a samsung 75" hdr tv and this sony to make a comparison test in my home. After using both side by side for a week with the same input on each television, it was clear that the sony had the best picture. Very noticeable whites that were much better than the samsung. Overall brightness was much better, blacks were about the same. Sony television has the ability to make many more adjustments than the samsung. Chromcast is built-in. Returned the samsung to costco. The sony has been working fine for about 5 weeks now with no problem. The sony is worth the extra cost. Wife wanted more bass than the sony produced so we purchased the sony sound bar and it's all good now.

Slow response happens way too often with this tv, but not all the time. However, response when viewing channels (ota tv) have never been affected. Netflix, online store and youtube apps became nearly impossible to use. The tv has sometimes seemed to 'repair' itself on its own. But, not this time. . I updated firmware only as part of the initial setup about 3 months ago and have not updated firmware since that time. I was unwilling to perform the sony recommended full factory reset due to the required complete setup afterwards, so i tried suggestions found online. Soft reboot/restarting didn't help. I removed my usb thumb drive. As recommended by others, i force stopped and uninstalled the sony select and sony shelf programs. I did not see any noticeable improvement after taking these steps. However, these actions may have helped as preconditions to the fix that did work for me (shared below). . This is the 'fix' that has worked for me:. . 1. I removed all downloaded apps that were little used or not necessary. This refers to apps i downloaded or 'side loaded' whether they were from google store or not. 2. I performed a soft reboot by using the green button on the remote making sure that i held it down for 6-10 seconds. Tv rebooted/restarted within about 30 seconds later. 3. I tested the tv by using the netflix, online store and youtube apps. These built-in apps and the os in general are now responding perfectly. In the future, i will only add apps i really need - one every couple of days apart - and check for problems after each. 4. If i had not had any success at this point, i would have removed more or all remaining downloaded apps and retested. . But, as for picture quality, its an excellent buy considering its cost. . Update - april 2, 2018:. I downloaded a couple of apps from the google store 3 days ago. Similar problems returned. However, the problems disappeared following the soft reboot process (see above) without removing the new apps.

I have no complaints about this tv. I ll respond to some criticisms about it from others. . 1. Slow and bad android os - not for me. I was really worried about a subpar experience with the os - something you use every day. But it s slick! i don t notice any real lag. . 2. Ads on the home screen - not for me. Also worried about android including ads for things on the home screen. Deal breaker for me. But you can deactivate all the recommendations here, so no problem. . 3. Blooming - not too bad. The blooming can be a bit intense at times (ex. In dark scenes with subtitles for example). But i was really looking for it after reading reviews. . Great tv and the price keeps falling.

I was bent on getting a 75 inch tv and i really wanted to get oled; that left the lg tv with a $20, 000 price tag. So, next, i was bent on getting a samsung because i like the brightness of their screens. Samsung is charging $6000 for their 65" qled technology which is barely the next generation of technology. Looking at the rtings website reviews for best 75 inch tvs, they mentioned that the best mid range 75 inch tv was this sony 75" x900e. I did the research. It is not oled in terms of measurable quantities (it is very good) but i will tell you that the actual viewing experience is 99% of what it is with an oled tv. The blacks are inky wet black and the the brights are amazing. I can watch this tv outside and it looks great. It very bright. The aesthetics are beautiful. It has a very small bezel, a the glass front has the same allure as fine crystal. It has plenty of adjustments for those who like to tweak and i think it looks great with the settings out of the box. The picture quality, is just amazing and again i can't stress enough how beautiful the hdr (high dynamic range) is. Deep rich blacks, plenty of mid tones and excellent highlights. For the price difference i would buy this tv every time and not really miss any real perceivable differences in oled. Sony deserves a huge compliment for creating such a beautiful tv and picture as such a great price. I got mine for approximately $3200 and that is great at this point in time. . If you are looking for a beautiful tv and picture, especially one in the 75 inch class, mid range and reasonable pricing then this is your tv!

I held off purchasing a 4k tv until 2017 models were released hoping to get 4k and hdr at once. I originally looked at purchasing a samsung ks8000 (2016 model) based on reviews but those are super hard to find now. I always go into my local best buy to get a first hand look but you can't know what you are actually getting unless you research online (specs like brightness, hdr, input lag, wide color gamut, etc). This tv is awesome when you have a ps4 pro and are going from no 4k and no hdr to this tv with those features. The games on ps4 pro that have been enhanced look awesome (horizon xd, shadow of mordor, deus ex md, nmd, titan fall 2, ratchet and clank, etc) night and day difference. No lag, hdr is awesome, colors and brightness make games more immersive. The smart capabilities of this tv are great for streaming 4k content (online store and youtube). I've obviously never streamed 4k before since i didn't have a 4k tv but i find myself streaming random things in 4k just to see the beautiful picture. It's amazing how much random content is available to stream in 4k. I have a vizio soundbar with a optical input and was concerned that i would have to use two different remotes. In the home screen (press the home button) there is a picture of what i initially thought was a random video labeled "audio control setup" it walks you through connecting the included rf blaster" so you can control your sound bar with the sony remote, nice. No complaints so far. If you have been looking for a 4k tv to pair with your ps4 pro or to view/stream 4k content this is a great choice.

The narrow base allows to place it in my awkward space, the menu and remote combo leaves a little to be desired, the tv will auto switch to a newly turned on input source which is good and bad depending on why i turned on the new device, i would rather have control over when it switches input. Sometimes when my computer has been idle, it can think the computer shut off and i have to manually switch away and back to the computer for it to refresh the screen. Quality of visual: such good quality that you can see movie and show flaws that were never intended to be viewed. For example, i now can see the lipstick they put on men so that their lips are more visible on set. I can see movie set lighting crystal clear. Lower quality movies and shows have a snow effect on flat surfaces that are light in color. Some shows have a kind of "candy" effect where things look supper-real and almost in that uncanny valley that can be off putting at times. The digital up-scaling can at times cause a blurriness, choppiness and i can see unsteady cameraman flaws more clearly. I don't blame the tv for these issues, i blame the outdated filming techniques of old. Used with computer at 3840x2160p, philips 4k player, sony receiver with 7. 1 surround sound.

As someone who notices the fine details in technology, this tv is pretty insane for the price. Out of the box it has excellent picture and colors, but i managed to get things looking even better after playing around in the picture settings. The contrast is really impressive. The blacks are blaaaack! the local dimming feature is a must if you want those deep blacks. While this unit only has 40-something dimming zones, it works pretty well. I also love that this tv runs on android! the smart features are great and everything feels pretty quick. I went into the developer options (look online how to do this) and deactivated a bunch of apps that i'll never use, and limited background processes to a maximum of 4. This way the tv runs as quickly as possible. The more apps you have on your phone, computer, tv, whatever, the slower your device will run. This is because a lot of apps like to connect to the internet in the background among other various background processes which use up the very limited processor resources. Remove unwanted apps and limit background processes for a really great smart tv experience! . . I can't imagine anyone would be disappointed with this unit for the price. I purchased mine "open box" in "fair" condition with multiple supposed dead pixles because i was saving an additional $500 off the already recently discounted price. The tv arrived brand new with no dead pixels or anything wrong whatsoever! got lucky. Even at full price though, this tv compares in many ways to units 2-4x its price. I did a ridiculous 10 hours of research before pulling the trigger on the x900e. . Very happy customer!

V. Bethany, Quebec says

I buy almost everything from online store and have written maybe 10 reviews in 10 years, however i felt this purchase warranted one. I have been eyeing this tv for the last 6+ months, finally pulled the trigger when the x900f came out and the price dropped to $798 for the 49" (this is for my gaming room where i sit 6ft from the tv). All i can say so far is wow. This is an amazing tv and now a great value. I use it almost exclusively for gaming with an xbox one x and it has made a yuuuge difference, like bigly. Playing games like ac:o will mesmerize you! if you are on the fence about this one, go for it. You will not find a better performance/$ than this one and the newer x900f offers very slight improvements but at a much higher cost. Have also watched a few 4k movies on it and was just as happy with that as well. . Make sure to look up some youtube videos or a guide how properly set up the tv to start, especially if its for gaming. If you plug and play with an x1x you will not be utilizing the tv to it's potential. It's not difficult it took me maybe 10 minutes to do in the beginning. Good luck and have fun!

P. Widmer, Maryland

While i really like the product so far i'm perplexed as to why all these 4k tvs are shipped with hdr inactive. Most of the 4k menu items in the xbox were not available. I found an article by windows central using the search words "how to enable hdr for xbox one x" that addresses this. The picture is phenomenal, set up was easy, the interface is modern and easy to follow. Be aware during setup there are many information hungry choices to make, so don't click too fast. Update the firmware during setup to make sure you get the hdr10 patch. The stand felt a bit flimsy, however it is very solid. The remote is adequate, not too cheap feeling, but not the best feeling. The footprint of the device is about the same as my old 42" due in part to the very thin bezel this tv has. . Here are steps for this tv to activate hdr. (when you go back to the xbox 4k menu afterwards all the check boxes will be a statisfying green! ). 1. Press the home button. 2. Scroll all the way to the bottom, past the apps and games and click on settings cog icon. 3. Select 'external inputs' under the tv subsection. 4. Choose 'hdmi signal format'. 5. Switch your signal format to 'enhanced' format

Did a lot of research before buying. I checked rtings. Com and it says this is the best tv in its price range and a few gamer sites also rated this tv really high. Picture looks great and i used rtings. Com recommended settings to optimize the picture. Don't get hung up on the viewing angle, it is not a big deal. The picture looks fine from reasonable angles. I watched a 4k video and it looks amazing. I don't use the tv for sound or watching online content so no comments there. I'll be watching 4k content through by xbox one x in a few weeks. I did try the online store app and the grand tour in 4k is a good show to watch to show off what this tv can do. I do have everything setup with alexia and the harmony hub. Everything works but occasionally alexia forgets how to do something and i need to use the remote like some primitive. I also have direct tv and i let the tv upscale. Football looks great and sunday night football looks really good on this 75 inch monster. . Online store delivery service is not a problem. The delivery guys will take it out of the box for you and make sure the screen is perfect. Unfortunately my screen had a defect but after a quick call to online store a new tv was sent within a few days. . I don't usually buy the warranty but for this tv i did.

Q. Brenda, West Sussex

The picture clarity is amazing. The television has a narrow profile and attractive stand. As mentioned in other reviews, the sound could be better. If you want to play video games with really high volume and strong base, it may be ineffective. But for our needs, watching movies and television, it's ideal.

I purchased this tv after many days researching and comparing tvs side by side. I debated lg oled vs this tv and chose this tv for a few reasons. These being price, picture quality, and oled uncertainty. Oled tvs have come a long way to avoid screen burn in but i wasn t ready for that jump just yet. With this tv you get a picture quality that is close to oled and looks beautiful. The black levels aren t perfect but you really don t notice. Save yourself a few hundred dollars and buy this tv. You won t regret it.

What can i say. This tv was purchased after a month of research. Since i will use a tv like this for many years to come i wanted something with the best picture and a great reputation. I was leaning towards the samsung tv's from costco because of the easy return policy and two year warranty, but i wanted the best picture possible for the money without spending the big bucks for oled. This sony 4k tv is awesome. Was fairly easy to assemble and i only needed a second person for 30 seconds to help me lift it onto the frame. I cannot believe how well this was boxed. No way it was getting damaged! the picture on this tv is awesome to say the least. Bright and stunning picture and i haven't even watched anything 4k yet! i plan on trying that soon. I have directv and i need to get the 4k upgrade soon. Netflix, hulu and online store are great on this tv and it has no problems with streaming. The android interface works fine. I also bought a sony soundbar to go with and i'm glad i did because they paired up easily and automatically. It would be nice to have one remote for all my devices, but i don't want to spend the money on the fancy one's and i don't have the patience to program and learn them anyway. The sony remote is good. If you want the best 4k picture in an led tv then get this one. I'm very happy with this purchase. Sony is the best!

Many good reviews, i'll not cover the incredible picture - except to say that my wife was startled at how different it was compared to a six year old kdl55hx820. In general the bad parts are known - i'm not at all impressed with the andriod integration - or better said, the opportunity to collect and display even more ad content. . The only negative surprise, is the power supply is external, and missing appropriate connectors. Its the size of a brick - longer in fact. The only positive about external power supplies - is they can be replaced easily. Problem is - if you're wall mounting as i was - with no mounting hardware for the brick - you don't have the parts to complete the job. Making matters worse - the brick to outlet cable is only 18" long. So it can't be mounted to the back of the tv or to the wall frame. . We used zip ties for a temporary solution and just happened to have a six foot iec c7 cable - but without either, it would add a store trip or a day's wait to finish a very basic job to wall mount the unit. Inexcusable. Its like finding your allotment of screws/nuts/washers is short one instead of having a spare in every package. Please.

Top ultra hd smart led tv model works Review

Disadvantage and Critical reviews

O. Valencia, Michigan says

This tv turns off by itself after loading a ps4 game, and the red led flashes 8 times before being able to be turned back on. This seems to be a software issue due to the latest update, but the issues has lasted for over 2 weeks.

V. Nees, Saskatchewan

I recently purchased the tv, and although it was a bit technical, everything mostly went well when setting the system up. I did have an issue with the new remote control being able to scan and find my channels (i have sudden link cable and it cannot find any of the channels). I called sony support and the support person ran me though a battery of tests in an attempt to assist, to no avail. She finally said well if you have cable it won't work with that, you need to have it hooked up with hdmi (not that i believe that but what do you do? ). So i have to use my sudden link remote to change channels and to access saved programs on the dvr. I have to use the sony remote to turn the set on, and to do everything else, what a pain. But, i kind of got use to that. The tv picture is awesome, no complaints there and the set seems to be constructed very well. But, the sound quality sucks, and the speakers do not face forward, which makes it even worse. So i got me a nice soundbar and hooked it up, which was a major improvement and allowed me to clearly hear voices. But, yesterday, more issues (january 25, 2018). There was an android update on the system, and for some dumb reason i let it install. The update caused several issues, which i can't seem to get fixed. There is lag time when using the remote control. My sound system no longer works so it is back to the subpar speakers. Another call to support. Support ran me though the step by step again (which i had tried before calling them), all to no avail. So i do an internet search to look for answers. It seems a whole lot of people are having the same, or other issues, related to the hdmi hookups and it is all a result of the android update. I also found there seems to be no way to roll back to the software that was on the set before the update. Very frustrating, especially since i have hearing problems and without the soundbar i have trouble hearing with the poor sound quality. . Picture quality: excellent. System software: terrible. Customer support: although they are kind, it is nothing more than a cut and paste checklist, and in my opinion, if it does not fall in the checklist category, well forget it. . If you have a sony tv, do not let it install the update, period! . . If they had their stuff together on the system software, i would have gave the system 5 stars. Hopefully they will hire some programmers who know what they are doing. Also it would be nice if customer support would take the next steps needed in helping customers get their issues rectified.

Had it for a month now, i like it but letters look pixelated, i have tinkered with the settings and i have been able to soften them somewhat, noticed a little bit step up as far as image quality coming from a samsung mu6300 but i was expecting a bit more tbh, still keeping it because it's game mode is good, those are my only issues with the tv for now.

X. Lawrence, Leeds

Great picture quality. Unfortunately the android tv os is slow to navigate. On top of that the bravia sync does not work anymore. I have a yamaha 2016 receiver and sync was originally working. But in the last couple of days i noticed the receiver doesn't go off when i turn off the tv. I then checked the sync settings on the tv and the yamaha receiver will no longer show up as a device. In fact nothing shows up anymore. I double checked that hdmi control was enabled on the receiver. I tried disabling and re enabling the settings on both the tv and receiver. I even tried unplugging the hdmi cables and reconnecting them. Nothing changes. I believe that sony's version of hdmi control, their bravia sync, is kind of flaky when it comes to working with other non sony devices.

Y. Arnett, Stockport says

I love this tv. The picture is great and when it works it's wonderful. The only problem i'm having is that the os for the tv is painfully slow at times. It's choking somewhere and i'm not sure what's causing it. For example if i press the input button the input menu won't come up for another full 2 - 3 seconds. No exaggeration whatsoever. And of course when you press a button you expect things to happen that alone makes the 2 - 3 seconds feel like 2 - 3 hours. Maybe i got a defective model? . . Again the tv is great when it works.

F. Parker, Franche-Comte

After a week it starts to shut itself off. It will do it once a day at least. Not expected from sony.

I. Powell, Worcestershire says

The picture itself is good, but just about everything else with this tv is disappointing. As others have noted the android tv interface is terrible. It's slow, clunky and just flat out unresponsive at times. The tv randomly disconnects from the internet and takes a few minutes to recognize my router again. It often has to stop and buffer when streaming and encounters errors when trying to open apps like netflix and hbo. I fire up my ps4 that's also connected to my wifi and it streams and opens apps with no problem. Same with my computer. The tv is the only device in my house that seems to have any problems. . If you want a tv that's got a nice picture and don't plan on using the smart features, this is a solid choice. Otherwise, you better keep looking.

. Eleanor, Thueringen

The good: picture quality is excellent. After you turn off the clear motion processing, digital picture enhancements, then this looks excellent. The bad: the built in speakers are poor. If you use a soundbar like i do the audio processing done by the sony causes the audio to lag behind the image. After several inconvenient workarounds i can get the audio and picture to match up but at the expense of losing some features. I did not have this problem with my older samsung. There was also a sony software update error in november 2017 which was not fixed until four months after the update. Finally around march of 2018 they corrected the software update but during the four months sony kept very silent on the problem. I would absolutely not recommend this to anyone despite the good picture quality and i will never buy a sony tv again. I would go with either a samsung or lg as of july 2018.

N. Nancy, Camden says

I received my tv two days ago, it's been working great up until today. Amazing image quality, nice interface. However, i tried to turn on the tv today and it simply won't turn on. Tried to do 2 factory resets and it still doesn't work. . Online store support was nice but didn't know anything about that tv itself, and sony doesn't take calls on the weekend.

Q. Watson, Bedfordshire

The picture quality and color profiles are amazing but with 1 major flaw. Light colors, especially light or white text or shapes on dark backgrounds, will have the white over-exaggerate to the point that it will look a bit glowy or neon affect. Not sure if it's the local dimming, or the contrast or "live color option"is that causing this, but put this effect on text and plain sharp shapes and you will get fuzzy glowy edges. It's hard to describe but imagine you're typing in ms word, and you add faded shadow to the words. When you have a tv that is 49 inches (fairly small) with lots of text (you should see the android tv home screen and menu options. It's like your tablet on a screen) this fuzzy text and edges becomes very annoying and eye straining. Like when watching 3d movies back in the days. I don't recommending buy the tv before seeing it in person and trying it out for good 10 minutes from about the same distance you will be viewing it if you wanna buy it.

J. Alexia, Northern Territory says

I'll start by saying that this tv has the prettiest picture in it's price range. 4k hdr content looks stunning, and the black levels, while not perfect, are still better than most competitors in this price range due to the full-array backlighting. With that said, this tv has other flaws that caused me to return it and purchase an lg oled (way more pricey but i knew i'd be getting an arguably better all-around tv). . To start with, the screen on this sony had some streaking all across the top that could be seen with the power off under certain lighting. It wasn't visible most of the time with the television on (the backlighting and bright color palette helped mask it), but it was a worry for me nonetheless, as a screen with that kind of issue out of the box would certainly lead to other issues later. Secondly, the android os on this tv is among the most sluggish and unresponsive i've experienced. Sure, there are a lot of apps to choose from, but you won't enjoy interacting with them if you don't like waiting for a selection you've keyed on the remote to actually execute (there's about a . 5 second to 1 second delay). Perhaps a future firmware update could address this. . All told, i'm a bit saddened by this tv-the picture really is gorgeous, and i certainly would have kept it if not for the issues i mentioned.

Hanged tv in a living room about 3 months ago. Picture is very good, have some software quirks, but nothing unmanageable. However yesterday, out of nowhere, the screen developed horizontal internal crack that runs through the whole tv. Quick google search shows that this is a common problem which sony does not cover under warranty. So beware that your multi-thousand purchase might go down the drain within months - very upsetting.

B. Finch, Torbay says

Tv is amazing, looks fantastic with none of that motion jitter i've seen on older high refresh rate screens, this was important to me. Black levels are excellent and all my content looks great. . After 3-4 weeks tv had the ghosting/flickering problem. Sony support has to replace the tv. The support was helpful, but it sucks having to now wait another 1-2 weeks to get a replacement. I've seen all over the internet that this is a major issue. Figured that sony would have fixed this manufacturing defect by now.

G. Angelica, Bretagne

This tv lasted one day, what happened to sony? this tv was so hyped up at best buy that i gave it a chance but it seemed very flimsy and within 48 hours the screen turned white on one half and then black stripes.

Z. Helen, Illinois says

Android tv is super slow and nearly unusable sometimes. Picture is good except for the obvious darker corners, which seems nearly inexcusable for a tv of this supposed caliber. Would have bought an lg if i could go back and change my decision.

I am a sony fanboy. I love sony cameras, tvs, the playstation division, etc. Every tv in my house is a sony. To me, sony has the best picture on the market. Purchased this tv to replace a kdl-46xbr6, which to this day is the best tv i have ever owned. I wish it never broke down after 9 years. I decided to stick with sony after having the best experience with a television. I decided on the xbr55x900e after watching review videos on youtube and reading the reviews on online store. . I went through two xbr55x900e and spent 10 hours total with sony technical support, which was about 7 phone calls to try and fix the issues with my "smart tv. " this television suffers from the android os. It has no business on a tv. Apparently, the hdmi arc port is one of two problems i had with this set. I have no sound bars or systems setup with my tv; i just use the speakers on the system. If you are using apps on the tv like hbo go, youtube, netflix, what have you, it will at some point with in 48 hours lose the ability to broadcast sound when you switch to a physical device such as a cable box. You have to reset the tv to make it usable again, like reseting a phone. When i watch tv i like to watch tv, i do not, i repeat, i do not like to reset my tv in front of my friends and family and watch the android gears spinning for a 5 minute boot up. Its embarrassing, frankly. . The second problem is android's tv os for sony and it is unstable. It doesn't work half the time, it times out, loses network connectivity via both wired and wirelessly. The system memory on the tv is less 9gb so its more than likely has a 16gb chip onboard memory, so the os constantly needs to wipe data cache on each individual app. This is a step sony always took to remedy my device and had some success with. I ultimately factory reset my first x900e 3 times then returned it, and for the last unit the second time i had to restore to factory settings i told sony support that this would be my last sony tv for some time. . One of the last phone call a senior representative at sony tech support told me how to put the tv in pro mode and restrict the android os and "stabilize" my viewing experience. Press down display, mute, volume up and home all as fast as you can and the tv will go into pro mode. I restricted the android's os by doing this, and thought my problems were behind me. The loss of audio issue came back still. Two weeks with this tv, and no way of making it stable for more than 24 hours without a soft reset at minimum. Reseting this set was a daily occurrence. . I really regret, i couldn't make this work. I wanted it to work. Every time i called sony support, i wanted it to be the last time. Its a damn shame too, because the picture is gorgeous, and the sound is great on this set when it works, but thats the problem. It doesn't work all the time. Sony needs a firmware, and android patch to fix these problems, but they won't even admit that there is a software bug. Look at the forums and up on this set. I'm not the only one out there with theses problems. . I can't believe i'm going to have to look into a samsung after this post. People who know me, know i hate samsung products with a passion.

C. Meredith, Massachusetts says

Had this tv for 4 months and one day the screen had a black bar show up in the middle of the screen when turned on. Went through sony and there 1 year warranty process, which involved sending pictures of the problem to them. But with their expert eyes at viewing a picture determined that it was not the tv s fault so the warranty was void. There was never an impact to the tv , but i guess they could use that excuse for anything that goes wrong with any of their products. If you do decide to buy a sony product don t try and use their warranty program, just return it to the store you bought it at! i will never buy a sony product ever again.

K. Monique, Sutton

Tv has a great picture, somewhat tinny sound, but most who buy a 65 inch 4k uhd tv will be using a sound bar or speakers anyway, so it's to be expected. Only problem with tv is edges have a small halo effect and there is a lot of reflection from other light sources. This is still one of the best tv pictures i have seen. The biggest problem is the smart tv bloatware. I only use a few features, netflix, hbogo, tv, youtube etc. But the screen is filled with apps i will never use (nascar, playstation store, espn, etc. ) paying this much for a tv, i should be able to customize my home screen more and delete apps i will not use. I shouldn't be paying for advertising sony products if i just bought one.

R. Margaret, Mississippi says

Very nice tv and an awesome picture however the android tv interface consistently lags and does not preform well. The wifi performance is also subpar. We've resorted to using our roku 4k unit instead of the built in smart tv functionality due to teh lag and poor wifi.

W. Shayna, Nebraska

Pro: the picture is excellent. . Pro: this tv automatically detects the name and power state of devices i connect better than any other tv i've owned. For example, i power my switch and the tv turns on and selects the correct input. Should i need to change inputs, each video input is labeled with the device connected (so long as the connected device supports the standard that makes this possible). . Pro: the tv remains registered with chromecast even when the tv is powered off. I must manually power on my other chromecast devices before i cast audio/video to them. When i cast video to this device it will turn itself on first. This feature can be disabled. . Con (important! ): android tv sucks. The unit comes with too much bloatware. The default android tv settings do not mesh well with the hardware. The hardware ought to have more memory and cpu cycles, given the price of the display. Hulu crashes overnight if i do not explicitly exit the app. Switching to a new app (as android tv is meant to) is not sufficient. Turning the tv off is not sufficient. It is difficult to switch google users on android tv. If you use one user, that user's youtube history will be polluted with whatever else your family watches. They will see recommendations for the stuff you watch on your phone. . Con: the settings are complicated. Every hour or so, the sound from my vizio soundbar will so silent for a half second. The vizio is connected to the hdmi arc port. I witnessed the problem while playing the switch (on hdmi 4, not a lower speed hdmi) and watching netflix, hbo and hulu through android tv. The audio settings are too complicated to easily sort out. . Pro: beware, not all the hdmi ports on this guy are the same speed. That's true for all tvs, and is not a knock on this unit. In fact, i think this unit has more higher speed hdmi than cheaper tvs. Those cheaper tvs only need one to claim they are "4k ultra hd 60hz". . Pro: i keep the tv in my den. It is dark and wide. Although the panel does not accomodate perfect color fidelity at wide angle viewing, it does not bother me as i expected.

. Bertie, Lorraine says

Absolutely awful. The tv switches itself off at least 5 times a week. Watching a show, switches off. Watching a movie, switches off. Called the support line 3 times and they can't fix it. Avoid this tv at all costs.

M. Beale, New Mexico

I waited almost 2 weeks for this to be delivered (as a prime member) and when it finally was, it didn t work. Huge crack across the screen even though the packaging box was fine. Very disappointed. Delivered by xpo, but seeing as the box was okay, it s probably the fault of the warehouse. . I ll update my review when i get a functional unit.

A. Amanda, Maryland says

Stopped working 2 weeks out of warranty. Currently trying to deal with sony customer support. Will update once i hear back from them.

D. Brendon, Croydon

This tv lasted only a few months before a few large lines came across the entire bottom of the screen. Nothing touched this, they just showed up.

U. Hadley, Westminster says

This is a review of the 49" sony x900e, australian version (x9000e):. (last edited 08/08/17). . Pros:. - image quality has excellent results when tweaked to suit the content you're viewing. - has a fair amount of brightness for hdr purposes compared to cheaper hdr tvs (otherwise it's plenty bright for non-hdr viewing). - low input lag for gaming. - one of the best quality 49" tvs you'll find (it can be difficult to get high quality 49" tvs depending on where you live). - plenty of inputs, including 2x hdmi 2. 0 inputs specifically for 4k, one of which has arc. . Neutral:. - has a large power adapter/brick. If you are wall mounting, you will need to consider what you'll do with the power brick. For 55" and above you can mount the brick to the back of the set. Also note the 75" does not have a brick as the power supply is internal. . - if you are serious about hdr, you may wish to go with the next model up (x930e/x940e), which apparently can get a lot more brighter. What i find with the x900e is that the tv prefers to go fairly dark when hdr is on, so that it can accurately display bright lights in proportion. You can of course make the set brighter to compensate, but then you lose that dynamic range where sunsets and bright lights actually look immensely bright compared to the rest of the image (if everything on the screen is always bright, then you lose the effect). I find the x900e is a nice compromise between a cheap hdr set that has less brightness and a very expensive model. As mentioned before, for general viewing i find this tv is definitely bright enough. . - audio: can't complain, they're typical tv speakers. In fact after all the reviews saying the speakers were horrible, i was actually surprised how good they sounded. I use my own speakers now, so the tv speakers are irrelevant. . Negative:. - the interface, the os, the software. Whatever you want to call it, it is sony's downfall. As soon as i turned on the tv, i downloaded the latest 1gb update. It all installed fine. But in using the tv the same day i plugged it in, it crashed on me no less than three times when i was doing mundane things. It pops up a window saying "such-and-such app is not responding". All i was doing was browsing through the epg or the home menu. . - it comes with android tv, which is an alright interface if there's some grunt powering it (like nvidia shield), but sony have it running on an inadequate cpu. So it's laggy. Sometimes it'll lag when all you're doing is adjusting the volume. Probably because it has to load a different operating system for volume control, which leads to the next point:. . - there's four different interfaces for the tv: the action menu for general settings, the discover menu which is a popup menu for recommendations and whatnot, then there's freeview which is the interface for catch-up free-to-air tv in australia and uk (not sure what the equivalent would be in the us), and then there's the home button for the android tv interface. It's like having a phone that is android, apple and windows phone all in one. It's messy and inconsistent. . - the remote looks like it belongs in 1995. Why does it have so many buttons? who the heck needs a dedicated number pad these days? the build quality is good, but the remote is embarrassing. Wait, i know what it has so many buttons: it's because the operating system is poor. When the os is not user-friendly, you need extra remote buttons to compensate. Numbers and playback controls (for example) should be part of the screen interface, you don't need a physical button for every function. . - it takes no less than 15 button presses to turn hdr on and off. Hdr is supposed to turn on automatically depending on the content, but it doesn't generally happen for downloaded hdr files (ie 4k demos). One of the tv's main features really needs to be accessible much faster. . Summary:. It is hard to recommend tv this for the casual user, solely because of the interface. But if you don't care about that and/or will be primarily using another interface like the nvidia shield or roku, then by all means grab this tv. Especially if you're after a 49" with fantastic image quality. . I expect sony will be updating the software over the next number of months, so if there is significant changes then i will come back and amend my review. I'd love to give more than 3 stars, but just can't justify it. The operating system will be a deal breaker for many.

P. Yvette, Provence-Alpes-Cote dAzur

Panel quality is fantastic, and with actual content (not just credits/menus) the backlight local dimming is more than acceptable. Would rate 4. 5/5 if i was using this only as a display off of 4k/hdr hdmi. . It's a bit weaker on streaming though - online store 4k struggles on this display in particular, hbo go/now suffers some frame dropping, while other apps (netflix/hulu) work smoothly. And the tv's own osd just barfs on itself when overlaying streaming apps. Very laggy there. . Also, please note that while this is an android tv, it does not support u2f keys. Would strongly recommend setting up a dedicated google account for just the tv.
