Excellent picture and audio quality. The remote control is a bit tricky to use when using it for multiple sony devices, sometimes not the desired unit turns on or off, but it may be a set up issue. Google chrome works great with it for mirroring streaming media from iphone, ipad. So far so good! -H. Wilson

  • The tv worked great! no problems so far. The setup could be a bit easier. Way too many buttons on the remote. Android os could be better. For a big screen like this, it would be nice to have picture-in-oicture so i can watch two shows at once. It looks like you can do picture-in-picture, but one screen has to be shows from the android apps. What if i want you watch two cable channels? but overall satisfied with the television.
  • Great picture quality and colors. Works with online store alexa
  • I love my xbr65, but it died suddenly after 4 months. Just showing 4 green bars today! still on warranty, but come on sony -there is a serious flaw in this otherwise wonderful tv. Others are reporting the same issue. Sony service on a sunday was actually quite good, and after going through a few steps, i was advised that my tv was defective. I was offered a new replacement with under 8 months of warranty, or a refurbished replacement with 2 years warranty. I regret having not taken extended warranty when initially purchased the tv. I worry that the replacement monitor will come with the same glitch and die prematurely. My confidence in sony quality has dropped.
  • It makes a popping noise when changing channels. Most, not all the time but most annoying and wonder if it is going to fail. Support has been unable to provide a fix. Lovely tv but not acceptable. I thought i had 60 days with online store, know it looks like far shorter and my 60 is up tomorrow, according to online store it was more like 45 days. Not a happy camper. By the way, one support person told me it was normal!
  • Completed died after 2 months. Sony says it will take at least 2 weeks to get a new one after going through tons of hoops :(

ECHOGEAR Full Motion Articulating TV Wall Mount Bracket 42 -80 TVs - Easy To Install On 16 24 Studs & Features Smooth Articulation, Swivel, & Tilt - EGLF2

Bought 2 echogear mounts in the past year, and they both are awesome. Beefy, quality materials and straightforward installation. Highly recommend

Wall mounting is the best way to get the most from your new large tv. Not only will it keep your investment safe, but will drastically enhance your viewing experience. You'd swear charlie sheen came over with all the winning you'll be doing once that 4k beauty is on the wall. So how will mounting your tv improve the viewing experience? so glad you asked. 1. Your screen will be at eye levelif you set your tv on an entertainment center, the screen is often below the best viewing angle. By mounting, you can hang the tv in the sweet spot, with the middle of the screen lining up with your eye level. That gives you a better picture plus reduces fatigue during your overwatch gaming marathons. Dibs on zenyatta. 2. Point the tv almost anywherethis is the biggest benefit of full motion mounts. By extending from the wall, you have space to swivel the screen to point at any seat. Now you can get the perfect picture while sitting in that comfy recliner you found on the side of the road. Trust me, watching the fast & furious movies from your favorite spot enhances the enjoyment tenfold. Man, the rock is so bad-ass. If you're feeling wild, you could even point the tv to a different room, like the kitchen. That means catching up on silicon valley while pan-searing that delicious bass you caught. 3. Eliminate screen glarethe only thing more annoying than screen glare is carl clicking his pen at the office all day. Cripes carl. If you pick a full motion mount, tilting the screen will lessen or completely eliminate your screen glare issues. Without needing tools, you can tilt the screen down and get the best viewing possible. Not to mention all the safety improvements putting your tv on the wall gives you. Rather than your flat screen dangerously wavering every time you touch it, you can keep the screen securely connected to the wall and eliminate the risk of a tip-over.

It's nice to see a quality product these days. Well built, well designed, sturdy and strong. I have 100% confidence that this will easily support my large 60" tv or larger if i should ever purchase a bigger one. Good quality lag screws and hardware is included. Designed to fit the back of nearly any tv and adapt to different wall stud spacing. I have no suggestions for improvement. Well done! . Of course you must mount bracket into a wall stud for proper support. Use a stud finder or a small nail to find the center of the studs. -Notice from L. Angela, North Somerset

Sonos PLAYBAR TV Soundbar/ Wireless Streaming TV Music Speaker. Works Alexa.

Incredibly easy to set up, and the sound is excellent. If you're already using sonos for your music, this is the next logical step. After you set it up, you use whatever remote you're used to using and the sound bar volume is controlled right from that remote. There's no additional buttons to push, receivers to turn on, or remotes you need to keep track of. It just works, and the days of having to explain to your guests how to use your tv/home theater system are gone.

Playbar s nine-speaker design floods your home with huge waves of epic, full-theater sound for tv, web, movies and video games. It is also a stand-alone all-in-one sonos player that allows you to wirelessly stream all the music on earth-your itunes library, your favorite music services, and thousands of internet radio stations, shows and podcasts. Playbar connects to your tv using a single optical cable and power cord and plays everything that is connected to your tv, from cable boxes to gaming consoles. Connect playbar or bridge to your wireless router and link all sonos players wirelessly with one touch. Note: to get started, you must wire either one player or bridge to your home network using a standard ethernet cable.

Sonos PLAYBAR TV Soundbar/ Wireless Streaming TV Music Speaker. Works Alexa.Sonos-Soundbar-Wireless-Streaming-Speaker

Sonos Soundbar Wireless Streaming Speaker (pbar1us1blk) FAQ.

I'm very happy with my sound bar, and my sonos system in general. I have 2 play 3's, one play 5, and now the soundbar with 2 play 1's for surround. I may move the play 1's to another room, however, because they don't seem to make a difference. I put them right up to my ear during surround playback and can't hear anything. I suspect it's because my panasonic viera st50 tv audio out does not support surround, but i can't be sure. When playing stereo music via the controller (i. E. No tv involved) i also hear very little coming from the play 1. I've use dthe play 1 as a standalone speaker in the garden and it performs admirably for something so small. -Notice from P. Lynette, Indiana

Maybe i misread (i did) but thought the sound bar integrated with sub and other surround speakers on its own via wireless. Not so, had to buy a boost to complete setup. Easy to set up. It could use a little more options when used as a surround system but other than that very happy with system. The app for control leaves a little to be desired when it comes to adding music libraries. Itunes downloaded "ok" but the album artwork is all jacked up. Options for sorting the music good be better. Volume control setup for the dish remote was easy as well

- T. RussellI have sony tv which pass through dolby digital 5. 1 so i'm good with one optical connection. Thought to return due to lack of dts and only one optical connection but after pairing with sub and the ease use made me keep it. These sonos are addictive you will enjoy any kind of music either from movies or radio. I compared with sony's $1200 play-bar and sub it fares equal and may be more better in sound quality but you have the option of expanding this to a 5. 1 system and sony is limited. If you have the means to own you will not regret worth every penny.

The sonos playbar may seem expensive for a sound bar, but only if you look at it as just a sound bar. Really it does much more (and i'll get to that). But first, as a sound bar, it works well and is pretty easy to set up: plug in the power cord and an optical cable from your tv and that's it, as far as audio connections go. To fully configure the unit and get it to work with your existing remote, you'll need to install the sonos controller app (free) which runs on pc, mac, android and ios devices. In the app is where you "add a device" (add the playbar to your home network) and establish the sonos network in your home. . If you don't have any other sonos products in your home already, you'll need to either connect the playbar to a network router or network switch with a standard network cable (one of which is included in the box), or purchase a sonos bridge which plugs into your network router and allows the playbar to connect to your network wirelessly. The reason you need this is that the sonos mesh network is actually separate from your existing wifi network (it makes its own), which is great because it doesn't interfere with regular wifi traffic, and vice versa. This means fewer dropouts in your music. . Update: in 2014, sonos rolled out a software update that allows all existing sonos speakers to work without the need for a bridge. So as long as you have a solid wifi connection in your home, any sonos speaker (even a play:1 or the playbar) can play music wirelessly. . Adding the playbar to your sonos system requires pushing a couple of buttons on the unit itself when prompted by the app and then telling the sonos app what room it's in. Then you can program the playbar to respond to your existing tv remote or cable/satellite remote. An on-screen wizard walks you through this. Tip! - if you can't get the playbar to recognize commands from your dish or directv or cable remote, then you may need to first set up that other remote to control your tv. Most set top box remotes come without any tv remote commands pre-programmed into them so if you try to program it into the playbar, you won't get very far. This was a problem for me with a dish remote until i first programmed the dish remote to control my tv, then the playbar was able to see the remote and respond to it for volume control. Once you do that, you can do the basic operation of the bar (volume up/down) using your existing remote control, and you won't have to refer back to the app. The playbar's optical digital input automatically gets preference, so if you're listening to music on it, then turn on the tv, it will automatically switch over to tv sound. . In terms of sound quality, the playbar blows away any tv speakers i've heard. The thinner a tv gets, the worse it sounds. Speakers need some room to resonate, and the playbar has that, while flat panel tvs do not. Movie dialog, male or female vocals have a nice transparency on the playbar, treble and high frequencies are detailed without being harsh and bass response is tight, if not prodigious (there's only so much bass you can get from a small cabinet). . The playbar uses some acoustic and electronic techniques to expand the sound stage so it sounds wider than it is. I noticed this on a few songs and movies, but it was particularly obvious on rush "2112" and on the moody blues "wildest dreams. " the instruments appeared to be located outside the edges of the bar while vocals were locked in place in the center. There are a total of 9 speakers on the playbar (each with its own amplifier) and sonos uses this entire array to create a coherent soundstage. . But, as good as it sounds, the playbar isn't perfect. Bass is on the lighter side, and if you use the eq controls in the sonos app to boost the bass, it gets a bit boomy. Also, the playbar can get a bit congested and harsh when pushed to higher sound levels, though this is definitely better if you add the sonos sub. With the sub, the playbar can then allocate its amplification and drivers to the midrange and treble which are easier to drive without distortion. Also, these sonic deficiencies are only evident when comparing the unit to a dedicated surround sound system. . But there are two reasons why the playbar is unique and gets my recommendation: a. ) it's upgradeable to fully discrete and wireless 5. 1 surround (with the addition of the sonos sub and a pair of play:1 or play:3 speakers) and b. ) it's a sonos! (more on that later). I tested the playbar on its own and then with the sub and play:3 rear speakers. Adding the sub and rear speakers was a simple as adding the initial playbar to the sonos network, but there is a new option within the "room set-up" that allows you to group the play:3s, play:1s (or a connect amp) as surround speakers for the playbar in the same room. The set-up wizard asks a couple of questions about distance from listening position to the rear speakers and (for the subwoofer) some questions about the levels, but that's about it. . With the sub and play:3s added, the system was able to reproduce discrete 5. 1 channel dolby digital surround sound. I confirmed this using a 5. 1 channel test track from one of dolby's sampler discs as well as some movie clips and a couple of full length films. The playbar does not decode dts but this may not be a show-stopper for some as few tvs output or pass through dts. The issue with this or any sound bar that uses the tv's digital output for sound is that most tvs will not pass through a dolby digital 5. 1 signal from source through to tv output. Some sony tvs do it as well as some vizios and some lgs (there may be others), but most tvs will drop the signal down to 2-channel output at the fiberoptic digital out. For this reason, i would have liked to see a second digital input on the playbar as well as dts decoding. This way you could use one input for the tv and the second input for a dvd or blu-ray player to get discrete 5. 1 sound from that. I can understand why sonos chose this single-input approach - if there were an "input" function on the playbar to switch inputs, chances are things could have gotten confusing for some users. Still, for advanced users, the second input and dts decoding would have been appreciated. . There is a workaround to this issue (not the dts decoding, but the extra fiberoptic input), if you're willing to sacrifice some simplicity. You can buy a fiber optic digital audio switch box, connect your devices to this, plug its output into the playbar and then get discrete 5. 1 surround from dolby digital content on a cable box, streaming set-top box, dvd player or blu-ray player. There are several of these switches available on online store including this basic manual switch, and this more advanced remote-controlled switch. There are many others available like this. . In any case, the playbar does decode surround-encoded 2-channel pcm or dolby digital sound (which tvs do output) and will give you a reasonable surround sound stage even from this material as long as there is rear channel information encoded into the content. And if you do have a true 5. 1 source, like the streaming apps built into your tv (netflix, vudu, online store vod) or your tv's built-in atsc tuner, then you will get even better sound with discrete 5. 1 surround. . Watching a movie in full 5. 1 dolby digital surround on the system is a vastly improved experience over the playbar alone: bass is deep and extended without being bloated; surround effects emanate from all around the room and overall dynamic range is enhanced as the playbar is able to concentrate all its power on the front three channels, without having to worry about surround or low bass. The only caveat? adding the sub and play:3 rears brings the system cost from $700 to $about $1, 800 and that's a bit steep. . Sonos: the killer app for music. . In addition to being a sound bar, the playbar is also an independent wireless sonos zone. This means you can fire up the sonos app on your phone or tablet, access your digital music collection stored on a pc or local network drive (or in itunes on an iphone or ipad) and play it back through the playbar. You can also access a ton of different online music streaming services, some of which are free, and some of which require a subscription. I was finding songs and discovering new artists on spotify, accessing my local mp3 collection on my pc and streaming pandora radio stations just minutes after opening the box. And the nice thing about sonos is that it manages music from these different services in a single playback queue - so one song came from spotify, then a couple from one of my ripped cds, the next from spotify. You get the idea. . For those who say you can do that wireless music streaming stuff with airplay, or an appletv (etc. ), i say, "poppycock! " yes, airplay allows you to stream music from your phone, tablet or computer wirelessly. But to use apple tv, you're limited to the apple ecosystem (e. G. Itunes) and whichever apps apple chooses to enable. Sonos is more of an open platform with support for different file formats as well as all of the most popular music streaming apps and services. Also with appletv and virtually any other streaming media box, you have to have the tv on and switched to the correct input in order to hear anything or see what's playing. For music listening, this just isn't convenient. With the playbar, everything is driven through the sonos app on your smart phone, pc or tablet. Pick your music, press play and you're good to go. And when you want to switch back over to watching tv, the playbar handles that for you automatically so the sound matches the picture. . I found myself listening to a lot more music with the playbar in the living room, because it's not just easy but actually fun. If you're feeling adventurous (or home sick after a move) you can also access any of thousands of streaming internet radio stations, right within the app. . If you add on more sonos components (play:3, play:5, etc. ) throughout your home, you can decide which room gets which music, right from your smart phone, pc or tablet. It's an advanced multi-room audio system without the cost of installation or the need to rip up your walls. Also, with the playbar in the system and connected to your tv, you can pipe that tv sound to any other sonos wireless zone in your home which was an unexpected bonus. . For tv listening, the playbar has some nice features which work standalone or with the full 5. 1 system. "night" mode compresses the dynamic range so you can hear whispered dialog and subtle surround effects without the loud parts of the movie being overpowering. "speech enhancement" brings the dialog forward in the mix so you can make out what characters are saying, even when there are other distractions. You can use both at the same time or each feature independently. I tested both and found that they did make subtle but noticeable improvements to dialog intelligibility. And the night mode did equalize differences between soft and quiet points. I found i could keep "sherlock holmes: a game of shadows, " at a reasonable volume level and i didn't need to leap for the remote when the explosions kicked in. But for daytime movie viewing (and for music) i left these features turned off. . Turn-ons:. . * good sound overall, considering size. * simple connection, set-up and operation. * nice-looking unit. * flexible installation. * sonos app puts the world of music at your fingertips. . Turn-offs:. . * needs more bass. * gets a bit congested at high volumes. * could use a second fiberoptic input and dts support. * limited by tv's ability to pass through 5. 1 surround. * a little pricey. . Reviewing the playbar is a bit tricky. As a pure sound bar, it's a nice sounding simple solution that can plug and play with your existing tv and remote. But again, as a pure sound bar, it's expensive and doesn't offer the low bass extension of many more affordable sound bar/subwoofer combos. But unlike most sound bars, the playbar is upgradeable. Find the bass a bit light? add a sub. Want to experience discrete surround sound? add a pair of play:1s as surrounds. This is something most other sound bars simply cannot do. But what really sets the playbar apart from every other sound bar on the planet is that it's also a sonos wireless speaker with all the streaming musical goodness that the sonos platform has to offer. You'll come for the enhanced sound from movies and tv, but you'll stay for the music. Recommended. . Update (october, 2013): the rear channels of a playbar 5. 1 system can now be the new less expensive play:1 speakers, or you can use your own speakers with the connect amp. The play:3 is also still supported as a rear channel speaker for a playbar multi-channel system. . A more detailed review is available on big picture big sound (dot com).

ECHOGEAR Tilting TV Wall Mount With Low Profile Design 32-70 inch TVs - Eliminates Screen Glare With 15 Degrees of Smooth Tilt - Easy Install With All Hardware Included - EGLT1-BK

Used to mount 55" samsung 4k ultra (un55ku6300) tv. Great quality at excellent price, super easy install, i would highly recommend.

Glare got you down? it won't for long with this large tilting tv mount, capable of up to 15-degrees of fingertip tilt technology. Safety tested and ul certified to hold 32" - 70" led, lcd or plasma screens up to 125 lbs, you'll get the best view from the couch, the bed or even the floor. If you're into that sort of thing. What the h is "ul certified" you ask? that means that we've tested this tv mount to verify that it will hold 4 times the weight rating and some safety science guys (that's a real thing) certified it. Echogear Tilting Mount Profile Design (fba eglt1 bk) FAQ.

Excellent for the price. Instructions very clear. Giving it four stars because the provided hardware did not fit my 2006 samsung. There was only one size spacer and it was too long. There needed to be a set of smaller spacers as well. Tried calling the provided tech support number for advice, but was disappointed to find support is available only during the week. I'm betting most installs happen on weekends, so this was not helpful. I ended up taking small spacers from the mounting kit for a smaller tv installed two weeks ago. This unit fits a couple of inches from the wall, making wire access difficult. For that reason, if i had to do it over again, i would get an articulating mount. -Notice from . I wanted something sturdy and reliable to mount a 50" led tv and looked at the usual suspects like cheetah mount etc on online store. Settled on the echogear due to the clear instructions and videos available and the mount was as per expectations. Everything to mount the tv was included in the box and a few leftover parts as well. It took around 40 mins to get the tv mounted and leveled and all is happy with my world again :-). Great product at a great price. . One thing to note that the mount is low profile so you may want to check if you are planning to mount devices like firetv or apple tv etc behind the tv i have a roku stuck to the back of the tv but the power brick will only fit behind if i tilt the tv around 15deg.

- F. JacksonI ordered this mount on a tuesday and it was delivered yesterday. It was incredibly easy ton install. I'm fairly handy and had all my tools ready to go. Found my studs. Leveled it out, made my marks, drilled the holes, and had the tv hanging on the wall in just under 1 hour! i was fortunate to have the studs 16" spacing, centered in front of my bed, so with some minor adjustments left/right i got the tv right where it needs to be. Overall, would highly recommend!

I don't have a problem with the mount itself however the screws that attach the bracket to the back of the tv are too short. I have a samsung 32" led tv and it is not flush in the back, therefore we can't get the scews to screw all the way in. We waited too late to put the tv on the wall so it is too late to return the mount so we will have to look to purchase longer screws to make it work :-(. . *update*. After reading through other reviewers who complained about the same problem i decided to call echogear to request longer screws. I bumped my review up from 3 to 4 stars. They get 4 stars because customer service was friendly and she knew right away what type of tv i had and was familiar with the problem. They lost one star because they know about the problem with samsung tvs so i think it should be noted in the description. Also, today is saturday and i have to wait until wednesday for the longer screws to delivered so no tv for me today!

ECHOGEAR Full Motion Articulating TV Wall Mount Bracket 37-70 inch LED, LCD, OLED Plasma Flat Screen TVs w/ VESA patterns up to 600 x 400 - 16 Extension - EGLF1-BK

This is my third full motion articulating tv wall mount. This one is the best by far. Lightweight, easy to follow instructions and strong enough to hold up 132 pounds. No new flat screen weighs that much (or not that i have seen) my new samsung weighs under 40 pounds, so this mount is perfect. A couple of things, it will fit flat against the wall with everything folding together. So it does not project the tv out into the room. Next, it will extend out a full 16". I had a cavity set into the wall to mount a tv. The contractor must not have know that all tv's were flat screen and he made it 16" deep. A problem for my old mount and why i replaced it. Finally, even i can learn after two units and i released some of the tension on the swivel bolts. Turning them somewhere between 1/4 and 1/2 a turn. That made all the difference. Now it functions smoothly, before it was too tight to adjust without serious effort. I am still using the old one at another location and loosened the bolts on it. Works better, but clearly inferior to the echogear.

Featuring up to 150 of smooth swiveling capability, this large full-motion tv mount is a real mover. Not a shaker. Safety tested and ul certified to hold up to 132 lbs, you can rest assured your 37" - 70" led, lcd or plasma tv will be safe on the strong arm of this echogear tv mount. Echogear Motion Articulating Bracket Patterns (eglf1 bk) FAQ.

This is our second large, articulating tv mount. This arrives in a deceptively small package, as the horizontal bars now come in two pieces. This makes for compact packaging and only a small amount of additional assembly time. The wall mounting part of the bracket is only 16" wide, so if your studs are not centered where you want the tv, you will want to layer a small sheet of 3/4" hardwood plywood on top of the wall, spanning 3 studs for support, than fasten this bracket on top of that. You cannot fasten this to a sheetrock wall with hollow wall anchors. It needs to be lagged into studs just to support its own weight. It's heavy because it needs to support big televisions. And it does this really well. . Something to keep in mind before you hand your big screen on the wall. In our case, we have a 65" samsung. The lower horizontal bar obscured access to the cat5 network connector and the toslink digital audio connector due to the position we wanted it in. I had to cut off the extra length of this bar while the tv was attached to it. Check this out on the ground and make adjustments there before hanging it up on the wall and save yourself a lot of work with a hacksaw on a ladder. . I highly recommend this bracket. -Notice from . Helen, Rhone-Alpes

Absolutely wonderful tv mount. This tv mount is very heady duty and has very smooth and secure operation. I did have to supply my own 8m x 1. 25 mm screws, because the supplied screws for the mount were a little short to mount my samsun 40" 6350 tv. Otherwise, however, the mount is fantastic and very well thought out. The mount allows for tilt and slight level adjustment, which is nice. It holds the tv very securely and was easy to mount. Tv hangs on the mount easily and then locks into place. The scissors operation leaves room to run cables back to a recessed data box also, which is nice. Really, there is nothing i would say is lacking in this mount. If i were to add or redesign the mount, it would be difficult to think of much to add - maybe a small center indexing hole or mark, but this is rather trivial. . If you are looking for a mount that would go well in a multimillion dollar house, in order to mount and hold your tv, this is it. In fact, i remember last year i looked at a $3. 2m home up the road and recall it had a very nice and smooth operating tv mount for a very large tv. Now, after having installed this mount myself and seeing how nicely it operates, i'm guessing that home had an echogear mount of some type or other, since the operation is very similar. . Again, if you are looking for a very high quality, well made mount, you can't go wrong with this one.

- S. CindyIt isn't often that you find a product that's intended to be hidden behind something else that is as well designed and as well made as this one. From the smoothness of the extension operation to the finish paint, it's a work of art. While the manufacturer says it's designed to hold up to 132 pounds, it could probably support a refrigerator. There just isn't anything not to like about this tv wall mount. . The instructions are simple, well illustrated, clear and complete. The hardware package is totally adequate for any installation on a wall framed with conventional wood studs 16 inches on center. I can't speak to mounting on masonry walls or walls framed with light steel studs. The provisions for vertical tilt and for side-to-side adjustment allow for avoiding glare in almost any setting. . Notes to echogear:. . (1)this item would be perfect if it permitted some flexibility in the width of the spacing between studs. That could be accomplished by offering an expanding "arm" or bracket, like the arms the tv set hangs from, to span irregular vertical gaps. That could be an add-on extra. . (2) some flexibility in the final vertical positioning would be helpful. That could be accomplished by modifying the brackets that attach to the back of the tv so that the tv could hang a little higher or a little lower.

This wall mount is pretty good and very simple to install even though i had my contractor install it on the wall just to be on the safe side. The fact that we can shift the television to view more in other parts of our living room than our old table top big screen. The only issue i have is that i find it difficult to push back against the wall once it's been pulled/expanded out. Maybe i'm doing something wrong but i'm not comfortable push my new television dead center on the screen to put it more flush against the wall. The only confusion are the overload of screws that could be labeled better but it's to use for a variety of televisions. Otherwise, it's a good wall mount.

Used the cables on 2 of my tv's last week and so far they work fine. I'm not using them on a 4k bluray player so i can't comment on that usage. I bought these because of an issue i was having with the cable that came with my cable box where my tv on occasion would start up with a pink screen with static noise over the image. To resolve i had to always unplug my smart tv, plug in and turn on again. So far this cable has been working fine and i haven't had that problem. I would recommend these cables.

Samsung Electronics Un65mu8000 65-inch 4k Ultra Hd Smart Led Tv 2017 Model (un65mu8000fxza) FAQ.

Tv technology has come such a long way in the last 10 years that it's amazing. Better blacks and deeper colors in 4k and uhd, and samsung's mu8000 is certainly no exception. I can't speak for other tv manufacturers, but i will tell you that i am completely happy with this tv. I love the clean look of the thin bezel, and the colors are as sharp as any hd signal can keep up with. The smart functions on the tv have definitely come a long way. I remember when samsung first started to incorporate apps and its smart hub. Much better user interface, and better overall experience for me. I am more used to a middle stand for all my tv's, but i am definitely getting used to the wide legged dual positioning. Better since i still have young kids running around, so i cringe less when they play near the tv. . Overall, i am extremely pleased with this tv. I recently decided to do a complete upgrade of tv's in my house, so i'll be looking at other samsung tv's as well. -Notice from S. Kimberly, Hamburg

I m not a tv person so take this with a grain of salt. I am, however, a techie. On black friday i spent way more time than i should ve researching tvs but really there were a couple things really important to me. The first was reflection. I have a wall of windows across from the wall the tv is mounted on. This tv does awesome and reflection is absolutely not an issue. The second thing i cared about was os. Prior to this i ve always used a roku and was hesitant to use any native os. I have to say i love the os on this tv. Roku is truly no longer needed. Youtube is even built in so you can watch music videos. The remote is also awesome and modern feeling. . The picture is super amazing but i m guessing that s the case for all modern 4k tvs (like i said, i m not really a tv guy so he s to comment here). . The bezel is pretty much non-existent. . One thing to note when purchasing this tv is that you need to also order some 40mm m8 bolts as it requires them and they don t seem to come standard with wall mounts.

- V. JenniferHave had this tv installed a week now and i am loving it. This is the first led tv i prefer of over my beloved plasma panasonic z1. The picture is great and the interface is worlds apart. Also the price point is sharp for what you get especially compared to my old plasma. . This is very well built tv and pretty hefty. It has a nice metal bezel surround. Construction wise it is a big improvement from the all plastic one on my prior samsung led tv. The 65 model is a 2-person wall mount installation. Weight reminds me of a plasma and that s a good thing. It even feels substantial to the touch. . Love the one connect box interface. It is a connection box that is separate from tv. This means less wire clutter behind the tv. Which means a cleaner install whether wall mount or on pedestal. So on my wall mount install i only have 1 wire going behind the wall. This also means more flexibility adding and changing inputs in the future. However i wish samsung also had ethernet connection on the one box instead of just tv. I prefer hardwire over wireless internet connection. . Picture wise this is a huge improvement over my prior led tv. Picture quality is great whether 4k or not. There is no soap opera effect and the picture is super sharp. Also the picture is great whether the room is dim or in direct sunlight. Also tv can be viewed from sharp angles (i. E. You don t have to be directly in front of it to have a good picture). Furthermore the sound quality is still good. Not as good as the dedicated soundbar, but it will not disappoint. . Samsung also hit a homerun regarding the user interface. The remote control is nice looking, small and easy to use. It controls many devices including my tivo, apple tv, soundbar and blueray player. It probably can control most cable boxes as well. You can also give the tv voice commands through the remote, such as such as watch verizon and change to channel 899. . . Most of all i love the apps on the tv. I stream music through siriusxm. Watch my favorite online store prime shows. Also love met opera and dramafever apps. Again you can switch to all these apps with voice commands! no fumbling around with remote control buttons. . I would highly recommend this model for someone looking for good quality picture, a lot of features and high build quality at a fair price.

Unfortunately, online store's support for 4k hdr on samsung tvs stops at samsung's 2016 models (ks series) for some reason. Which is weird because both samsung and online store are championing the hdr10+ standard. I contacted online store support and all i got was an apology without any real explanation. This doesn't impact my review of this television, i just think buyers should be aware when making their decision. Hopefully this will change. I'll note that netflix's hdr content does support this television and it looks great. All other non-hdr 4k content also looks. . This really is a stunning picture once you get it dialed in and the sound is pretty good for built-in speakers. My other gripe is that it only comes with samsung's minimal oneremote which, as far as i can tell, has no way to access the main menu with the advanced features. I had to load a remote control app on my phone to get there.

I held off purchasing a 4k tv until 2017 models were released hoping to get 4k and hdr at once. I originally looked at purchasing a samsung ks8000 (2016 model) based on reviews but those are super hard to find now. I use rtings. Com almost exclusively to compare different models and get the reviews on the major features i am looking for (hdr, wide color gamut, local dimming, and input lag). Based on what i was looking for, pretty much gaming with future potential for 4k blu ray, i went with the sony xbrx900e. So far i am completely happy and satisfied with my choice. First off definitely research online and don't only base your decision from what you see at a local store. I always go into my local best buy to get a first hand look but you can't know what you are actually getting unless you research online (specs like brightness, hdr, input lag, wide color gamut, etc). This tv is awesome when you have a ps4 pro and are going from no 4k and no hdr to this tv with those features. The games on ps4 pro that have been enhanced look awesome (horizon xd, shadow of mordor, deus ex md, nmd, titan fall 2, ratchet and clank, etc) night and day difference. No lag, hdr is awesome, colors and brightness make games more immersive. The smart capabilities of this tv are great for streaming 4k content (online store and youtube). I've obviously never streamed 4k before since i didn't have a 4k tv but i find myself streaming random things in 4k just to see the beautiful picture. It's amazing how much random content is available to stream in 4k. I have a vizio soundbar with a optical input and was concerned that i would have to use two different remotes. In the home screen (press the home button) there is a picture of what i initially thought was a random video labeled "audio control setup" it walks you through connecting the included rf blaster" so you can control your sound bar with the sony remote, nice. No complaints so far. If you have been looking for a 4k tv to pair with your ps4 pro or to view/stream 4k content this is a great choice.

One of the best pictures i have seen. It fits my room and is part of my complete setup with sony strza3000es receiver and sony ubp-x1000es blue ray player and polk 900ls in wall speaker set. Blue ray and 4k movies look fantastic. Very happy with the whole package.

The picture is even better than we expected. We thought it might be too big, but it's just the right size.

I was bent on getting a 75 inch tv and i really wanted to get oled; that left the lg tv with a $20, 000 price tag. So, next, i was bent on getting a samsung because i like the brightness of their screens. Samsung is charging $6000 for their 65" qled technology which is barely the next generation of technology. Looking at the rtings website reviews for best 75 inch tvs, they mentioned that the best mid range 75 inch tv was this sony 75" x900e. I did the research. It is not oled in terms of measurable quantities (it is very good) but i will tell you that the actual viewing experience is 99% of what it is with an oled tv. The blacks are inky wet black and the the brights are amazing. I can watch this tv outside and it looks great. It very bright. The aesthetics are beautiful. It has a very small bezel, a the glass front has the same allure as fine crystal. It has plenty of adjustments for those who like to tweak and i think it looks great with the settings out of the box. The picture quality, is just amazing and again i can't stress enough how beautiful the hdr (high dynamic range) is. Deep rich blacks, plenty of mid tones and excellent highlights. For the price difference i would buy this tv every time and not really miss any real perceivable differences in oled. Sony deserves a huge compliment for creating such a beautiful tv and picture as such a great price. I got mine for approximately $3200 and that is great at this point in time. . If you are looking for a beautiful tv and picture, especially one in the 75 inch class, mid range and reasonable pricing then this is your tv!

R. Carmen, Birmingham

In short, this tv has the best overall picture quality available in a 4k 49" tv, with sites like rtings. Com reporting image quality on par, and better in some regards, than sony's x930e that costs 50% more. Only oled tvs look better. The android tv interface is very featureful, but occasionally slow. Under $1000, it's a bargain. Longer review follows. Updated review to 5 stars after android updates improved responsiveness of interface . . I resisted upgrading my 10 year old sharp aquos tft for many years, because it had ultra-wide viewing angles and could do everything a newer, larger tv could do. Meanwhile, tvs have gotten bigger and brighter, and sony, samsung, vizio, and lg have been pushing the boundaries of large-screen image quality in recent years. Now 4k resolution has created a clear dividing line, and given many people like myself a reason to upgrade our "good enough" tvs. I want another tv that i can use for many years without feeling left behind, so i wanted to find the best that i could fit in my small apartment. I couldn't find any 50" oled tvs, and felt that 55" was just too big for the available wallspace, so i evaluated all available lcd options in 48-50" sizes. This is the best. Many manufacturers cut features on the smaller models of their flagship line. Not sony, the 49 version has all the same bells and whistles as the 65 version: multi-zone local dimming, full 10-bit hdr support, amazing brightness. . Picture quality is stunning, jaw-dropping, awe-inspiring, and nothing short of fantastic. When you get past the klunky and slow interface and start watching movies and shows, the details pop, and your favorite well-mastered film will reveal new details in the background, particularly in darker areas. Blacks are true black, allowing the brightness to be higher without washing out shadow details. Multi-color gradients, like subtle differences in skin tone or areas of sky are well represented, and the array lighting helps prevent bloom around bright areas. The upscaling and dynamic range extension works very well for sdr content, though the picture can look overprocessed with too many of these features turned on. See my suggested settings in this review for a clean, unprocessed look. . Out of the box, there was too much digital smoothing and interpolation for my tastes, but i'm very sensitive to the "soap-opera effect" that fast motion filters can cause. I was very pleased at the array of controls for controlling motion filtering, but the names of the settings are completely inscrutable. Like the playstation and many other sony products, the user interface is charming but quirky. You can turn "reality creation" on or off, but the interface doesn t explain this means smart interpolated upscaling. The included manuals offered no definition. I figured out that if i set "motionflow" to the "truecinema" setting, the motion in films no longer looks like cheap video, but as an engineer, non-descriptive names make me want to cry. Picture settings include "cinema home, " and "cinema pro, " with no indication of the differences. And color settings include "warm" (which is self-exlanatory), and "expert 1" (which isn't). . Some reviews of the x900e had me worried about viewing angles, but the viewing angles are better than most lcd tvs. The x900e does dim significantly off-center, but it looks great at 45 degrees, and is still watchable at 60 degrees with only minor color shift. Watching a video from the side, you could easily forget that you aren t getting the best possible picture. . Now, the bad. I had high hopes for the sony android tv. It's probably the most expandable smart tv platform when it comes to games and connectivity with home automation. With a quad-core armv7 and 2gb of ram, i had assumed that the tv would be able to handle simple tasks like showing a menu or launching an app quickly. When i first tried the system, it was slow and cumbersome to use apps. There were delays of multiple seconds. It seems that after updates and letting the system build its cache, things are mostly responsive. I have found that an errant app can drag the system down, so be careful what you install. Apps may be running in the background without your knowledge. I installed an airplay streaming app that worked, but that kept switching the input back to the app. I tried closing the app using the android app manager, but it would happen again, meaning the app was still running. I uninstalled the app and all was well again. . On the bright side, the android tv is great for integration with other devices. It can control my philips hue lights, and my logitech harmony hub and elite remote were a breeze to set up and control the tv perfectly. The tv remote can control my apple tv, xfinity cable, and sony blu-ray player, so everything integrates nicely. The tv remote works so well for nearly every device that my logitech harmony remote is almost redundant and definitely unnecessary. . There is a dedicated button on the remote for netflix, and the included netflix app is very fast. I've seen the included netflix app bog down on many tvs, so i was relieved that the x900e not only handles netflix well, but 4k content looks great. You do need to set the picture settings manually for each input or app, so netflix will not share the same settings as hulu or the cable or the dvd. . I think the closest competition in the "small" 4k space ( 55 ) is samsung. They have their new qled technology, which is an incremental improvement that can result in great picture when combined with other advancements. Unfortunately, the samsung 49" qled is the q6f special edition, which has an inferior panel using "quantum dot overlay" instead of full quantum dot leds. The q9f may be leading the pack in large-screen tvs, but the q6f is probably not going to outperform the sony x900e on the small end, and it has a higher list price. I do envy the samsung cable management, which puts inputs on an external box with a single fiber optic cable running to the tv, but the sony supports more legacy input types like component, and even composite cables. Also, one less thing to potentially go wrong. . By the way, if you watch a variety of media types, and want the clearest settings possible, use these settings:. . Picture mode: custom or cinema home. Advanced settings:. Brightness: adv. Contrast enhance - low. Picture: cinema home or custom. Color: expert 1. Motionflow: truecinema. Cinemotion: high. Clarity: all settings off, or smooth gradation only. . Overall, i'm very pleased with my purchase, and the vendor world wide stereo did a great packing job.

G. Bullock, Plymouth says

I'm a tv director so i'm pretty picky about image quality, and getting a good value when i buy gear. After doing a ton of research i was leaning toward the samsung mu8000, and frankly i felt that paying $1300 for that tv was a bit too indulgent, even for me. Oled is also even more stunning but it didn't seem like the picture quality was worth all the extra money, basically twice as much. But a black friday deal on this unit at bb for just $200 more than the samsung tipped the scales and i took the plunge. . A quick tip on comparing tvs: when you go to a store, each brand's display models are purposely setup so the more expensive one has an obviously better picture. Yet that doesn't mean the cheaper tvs can't approach the same image quality, or sometimes beat it. With proper adjustment just about any tv these days can look pretty amazing. Plus, they won't input the same image to different brand tvs, so you can't really compare. It's a bit of a guessing game, and the best you can do is ask to adjust the settings, get a model to look as good as you can, and do the same for another model. But frankly, without the same image on both, it's a bit of a guessing game. I found the testing on rtings to be quite thorough, and that was my primary research method. . On the os, i don't know what the negative reviews about the android os are about, mine works well, very little lag or waiting. The first thing i did was update the firmware, so maybe that's been fixed in the update. Sure, when there's more network traffic it's a little slower than normal, but that's to be expected, and is a function of your bandwidth, not the tv. Also make sure you connect an actual ethernet cable, don't rely on wifi, it's typically much slower, even on 5g, and prone to signal dropouts. . First and foremost, the image quality is stunning. That's the main reason i got it, and i planned to bypass the potentially problematic smart tv functions and use my roku. And compared to my previous samsung 1080 hd tv, this sony 4k unit is pretty impressive. After setting it up (get a smpte color bars video on ytube and learn how to use it), everything was richer, even regular hd content was better than my old samsung. But hdr is supposed to be even more of a difference than 4k. . So then i dug deeper, and found that while 4k (ultra hd) is passed through from my roku 4 to the tv, hdr is not passed through (newer roku "ultra" models apparently do). So i just connected a lan line to the tv, and i now have both the roku and the smart tv functions working. Although i can't do an instant a/b comparison, in about 15 seconds i can switch between smart tv with hdr and the roku without hdr. On the same show, same scene. And yes, the hdr on this set seems a tiny bit better, a little more contrast and detail than non-hdr. But frankly, it's not as big a difference as i expected. Maybe as i watch more ocntent i'll find a bigger difference. But above all, either way gives a pretty stunning picture. . You also have to remember that a lot of the advances in image quality are true for all brands. 4k gives a big improvement, and hdr a little more. It has nothing to do with brands, it's the technology. So many tv's in the same price range can give you a pretty similar image. But the sony seemed jsut a bit more rich, with a bit more contrast, and contrast/ range is a key determinant in image quality. . I have just two gripes, but they aren't deal breakers for me:. 1. The menu options are pretty extensive, but on occasion the menu gets "stuck", when you hit the "home" menu button. Hitting the menu button a 2nd time doesn't make the menu go away as it should, and the only way to get it off the screen is to re-select the input. Other times it works as it supposed to. 2. I wish the picture adjustments i made could be translated among different inputs. In other words, you get it set for, say, online store in the smart tv app. Then you go to another source, say netflix through roku, and the picture is darker. Or sometimes you find differences even between different movies on the same source. And the "auto adjust" function on the tv should fix that in theory, but in practice i didn't like the auto function at all. So i'm constantly adjusting the brightness manually. But that's not necessarily the tv's fault. As the auto sensing technology gets better, i expect they'll have better code that will automatically keep the contrast ratios and color balance you've set across all input sources. . The sound isnt' bad for tv speakers, but after all, they're tiny, lightweight speakers, so you shouldn't expect much. Get an av receiver or a sound bar. . It took a while, but i got all my external devices to play nice with the sony remote, so that's pretty cool that i can do the typical functions on roku and my yamaha av receiver with just the sony remote. And it has all the necessary inputs and outputs, and tons of menu functions to control them. It took me a while to get arc working, but that was more on my receiver end (both the tv and the receiver need to have hdmi control turned on, and turn on arc on the receiver). . Regarding sony service, i've bought tons of gear from sony over the years, including top end broadcast cameras, sound systems, car stereo, and vaio computers. And i've also seen the quality and engineering go downhill over the years, too. In fact, my recent experiences with sony customer service on some top end vaio laptops was so frustrating i vowed never to buy another sony product again. So i had to have a really good reason to get this unit, and the picture quality was so compelling i took the plunge. I can only hope i don't regret this sony purchase. . Would i be just as happy with the samsung? maybe. Probably. But be sure to research the ads that you can't turn off. Samsung has built ads into their smart tv menus that you apparently can't disable at all. You can only disable some ads. That's a big turnoff for me, especially considering how much you pay for a samsung.

The sony 900e is a great tv at a great price. I have had the tv now for a month and the picture quality amazes me. I would recommend purchasing this tv for your home or business.

Great tv! great for hdr gaming on both the ps4 pro and the one x, works really well with the online store echo. There's a lot of videos and reviews stating that they have problems with the tv either bricking or slowing down. I haven't had any of those problems and would highly recommend this tv, especially at the reduced price of $998

F. Michele, Oregon

I always buy sony tv s because of the high quality and beautiful display. This one was no different! very happy with this new addition to the living room! love how i can stream videos from my phone to the tv with the smart tv feature.

I ve had the 75 4k hdtv for over a month now and overall it is a great set. However, upgrading from a samsung hd tv, there are some things to note. . Overall (the short version): i would recommend this tv for the picture quality alone. 5 stars. It is magnificent! there are workarounds for the cons listed below, so overall it s a terrific set for 4k content as well as regular hd content. I ve decided to start with the cons to get them out of the way. The pros follow below. . Cons:. . The sony bravia 4k xbr75x900e does not seem to be able to handle internet speeds much higher than 60mbps (wired or connected by lan). This is acceptable for streaming hd on the apps that accompany the set, but 4k content can be iffy. I tried viewing a coral reef video on online store prime in 4k, and it took almost a minute for the picture to catch up to 4k quality. There were a few times the picture lagged. I tried watching a random standup comedy video on netflix in 4k and the server wouldn t connect. This was probably an issue with netflix because when i tried again, the connection worked and seemed to hold a 4k picture in a similar way to the online store app. The youtube app was the same. 4k videos lagged and took some time to catch up. . Luckily, the sony ubp-x800 4k ultra hd blu-ray player (2017 model) i purchased can handle faster internet speeds, so we use the player almost exclusively for streaming 4k content. I ve also read other reviewers mention that chromecast or an fire tv stick with alexa voice remote streaming media player can handle higher internet streaming speeds, so that is something to consider. Also, the tv takes about a minute to connect to wi-fi after it s turned on. Not a big deal, but worth noting. Connected to lan, it connects a little quicker. . Upscaling looks terrible when done on the tv. I wasn t expecting this to be the issue, but once again, the sony ubp-x800 4k ultra hd blu-ray player (2017 model) saved the day! upscale regular blu-ray s on the player, and the picture looks nearly as good as actual 4k. You will notice the difference. We streamed a few older shows from hulu like cheers and seinfeld and they looked great as well. Again, the picture quality is fantastic and worth every penny! . . * hdr update *. I want to thank everyone for their comments about my negative thoughts on hdr. It forced me to do some research on the internet to figure out why hdr looked to terrible on this set. After trial and error, i finally figured it out. You see, i have a home theater system. I bought an onkyo receiver a few years back that was 4k compatible. I did not, however, take into consideration that it might not be hdr compatible. (it's not. ) so, i was running the 4k player through an hdmi cable into the receiver first, and then into the 4k tv. Which means, no hdr content was reaching the tv. So, as one commenter pointed out, i was turning hdr on when no hdr was available, which results in my original comments below, the picture is dark and the colors look cartoonish. . I was wrong! and i'm glad i was wrong. Nobody likes eating crow, but i am happy to do it after i saw hdr for the first time last night. It is awesome! the colors look amazing, the blacks are really dark, and the whites are really white. My wife and i watched coral reef adventure under the prime uhd selection from the online store app directly on the tv. Hdr turned on automatically (as a commenter mentioned it should), and wow! it looked spectacular. . If you, or anyone you know, is experiencing a bad picture when turning hdr on, they must first realize that not all 4k content is presented with hdr. But what really fixed my situation is this: run the hdmi directly from the 4k player to the hdmi "1" slot in the back of the tv. That's all it took to make hdr a reality, the way it was intended. . I'm keeping the original comments in the review in the hopes of helping anyone else who experiences this issue. Thank you again for the comments about how hdr should work. You guys are the best! . . *. *. . *original comments*. Hdr is terrible. This is not the fault of the set, but i want to talk about it here because it s not worth turning on. If it works for you because of bright lighting in the room or whatever, go for it. But for my wife and i, hdr is not needed. Basically, it s an artificial layer added to the original picture source to enhance things. After several days of tweaking with the settings, trying multiple hdr enabled discs, etc. , the picture only got worse with hdr turned on. All it seems to do is make every scene darker, a lot darker. The hdr effect on colors can be weird. There is a slight red push over flesh tones, and sometimes the colors appear cartoonish, like they were drawn in with crayons. It s gimmicky, at best. So, if you re new to 4k, and you re worried that this set won t support dolby vision, don t worry too much about it. The 4k picture alone is beautiful you won t be disappointed with the picture as it is. . Also, on the subject of hdr: there are three options, on, off, and auto. The only time hdr will turn on is when the hdr setting is switched specifically to on. If set to auto, it might as well be set to off because it will never turn on automatically. *. *. . Pros:. . The picture is beautiful! it is a vast improvement over the regular hd picture from our older tv (which looked great as far as 1080p goes). There are many settings to tweak the set to your liking, and the live football mode is perfect for games. When you watch 4k content, you can get up right next to the screen and see amazing details in the background. You probably don t want to watch a movie right up close to the screen, but sometimes it s fun to check out the details of things in the distance. . My wife and i have watched blu-ray movies and uhd 4k movies from discs as well as streaming 4k content (using the separate 4k player), and they all look great. Regular dvd s leave a little to be desired, but i knew that going in, so it s not much of a surprise. What sells this set is the picture! and let s be honest, this is what you re looking for in a 75 4k uhd set. It is spectacular for hd and 4k content! spectacular! . . Games and apps: i play uncharted 4 on a regular ps4 (not the pro) and the details in color are phenomenal. Wow! i can t imagine the game looking any better on a ps4 pro, but i d have to do a side by side comparison to really tell the difference. . *a note on screen mirroring: if you have a samsung galaxy smartphone, it probably will not connect to the tv. The phone will locate the set, but won't connect. Solution: use chromecast or (once again) the sony ubp-x800 4k ultra hd blu-ray player (2017 model)

You can't go wrong with this set, this is a top reviewed set for a mid-to-high range pick. Only an oled set can give you a better picture.

Very nice tv with good color and met expectations with delivery and set up.

Go to rtings. Com and you can compare this tv with all of the other tv's on the market. Right now it is the best tv you can buy. The x930e might be a little better, but that is debatable. Do not buy oled's. They have really bad issues with screen burn in. You've been warned!

Top ultra hd smart led tv Review

Disadvantage and Critical reviews

. Sherry, Poole says

I am a huge sony loyalist. My family have always had sonys, they always had great picture quality from their very good image processing engines and they lasted many years. We just upgraded to a 4k smart tv (x900e) and for the price it was great value. . While researching online through avs forums, best buy reviews, and other online forums, i noticed many owners were complaining of a terrible, laggy, buggy, and down-right slow os. I fell in love with the positives of the tv that i ignored them and ourchased anyway. . Sadly i had problems from day 1. The tv would be very slow to respond to simple changes like increasing the volume. Sometimes it would take about 3-4+ seconds just for the on screen display to pop up with the volume. Otehr times, it wouldn; t register what i had pressed on the remote. Navigating the in-built apps was slow and laggy about 70% of the time. Sometimes it would work fine. One of the worst issues was that our x900e would constantly drop the wifi connection even during the middle of content playing on netflix or youtube. We have a 150mbps rcn wifi connection close by and so the dropouts were frustrating. . Also, the tv would take over 3 minutes everytime it was turned on to connect to wifi, sometimes would not connect unless done manually under network settings. . After all this trouble we decided it's not worth it to stay. Our family loves sony's image quality but the android tv os on sonys is just awful. We paid more and upgraded to an lg oled and it's operating system is light years ahead of sony. It. Just. Works! simple, intuitive and fast. Best of all no internet wifi dropouts and constant immediate wifi connection when the tv is turned on. . I would actually love to get sony's a1e oled but again, a terrible os ruins sony's new tv lines.

I did hours of research and landed on this tv as my 4k upgrade choice- the rtings. Com review is what really sold me. The first set i received had a loose panel at the edges, which i discovered when rubbing the screen with a microcloth to remove some fingerprints due to the wall mounting process. Additionally the screen, when turned off, looked warped from any side angle, like a fun house mirror. This gives the tv a very "cheap" look, even when mounted nicely on a wall. It also decided to power down in the middle of use, on a few occasions. It was a real hassle to remove the tv from the mount for the return. My replacement set was worse. There is horrific light emmitting across the lower corner of the screen, noticeable in that corner of the screen during any dark scenes. Many of you will know this as "flashlighting" which is a common issue that's plagued many led tv's - but the more expensive, newer models today are expected to avoid this. The first set i received, while it was glitchy and flawed in construction, did not have this issue. I tweaked the picture settings, adjusted levels of brightness/contrast/etc, in hopes that it would disappear. It did not. This replacement tv was unfortunately mounted already, so now i have to take this one down and return it, again. Two in a row, defective. After seeing countless rave reviews, i thought it would be good for people to hear my story. One minor note, the remote and the menu interface are terribly designed. I am now starting my search over again, looking for a new model from a different brand. Never again will i purchase another sony tv.

I love the tv part of this tv. It's better integrated with the bravia enabled devices (dvd/blu ray player, sound box, etc. ). . What's also apparent is that sony has lost quality control ! . They allowed android based apps and networking to mess up this otherwise wonderful smart tv. . What happens is that the google app keeps crashing and it throws up error messages on the tv screen, that you have to clear before they go away. Right now, my tv was absolutely find for 2 months. The, after rebooting the tv one day, all these error messages started to pile up. . I thought it was because we had lost the google+ configuration. So, i registered through the google app ! . . Don"t do that ! . . It only got worse. Now i have about 8 different google app error messages. . The wifi is fine. It streams netflix and online store, surfs, sync's menus, but the annoying error messages are so bad, i'm thinking about send the tv back. . Don't buy this tv until google fixes their app on this tv !

Serious audio out of lip-sync problems. The audio is out of sync on all the tv input ( cable tv, sony's ex 800 blu-ray player ) including internal apps ( netflix, youtube, etc. ) with tvs internal speakers. Sonys firmware is up-to-date and android system is up-to-date too. Sony-tact have updated the tv six different times. Sony's tech-support solution is to buy this tv back from me again. Its my second new xbr in the last 6 weeks.

I really wanted to like this tv, it was great for about a month without a hitch; but the most recent update has ruined it for me. The update not only drastically reduces android tv performance it also introduced this horrible high pitched sound whenever you change channels or pause/resume your dvr, in once instance it has even crashed with a continuous sound. After watching the sony support forum few days and much trial and error it was discovered that you can get rid of the sound by disabling dolby digital on your receiver/box but the performance issues are still there. This has affected every 2017 model in the lineup and has not been solved after several weeks, and still there is no eta from sony on an update. I wonder now if i should have paid more and purchased the lg oled. I cannot recommend this tv at this time.

O. Jessica, Oldham

Updated 6/14/2017 - new problem, following the hulu app freezing repeatedly, then netflix, the whole tv has completely frozen requiring unplug/replug to reboot in the first 4 days we've had it. Also sony support replied to me that in order to fix a delayed audio problem, i should delay the audio more with my sonos. I explained that when it's already too delayed, delaying it more won't help, and they said that i should call and speak to someone in person about that problem. I'll call when i have some time and report back. The cinemotion setting is still working well though, so the quality is there, so long as the tv isn't freezing. :/. . Original review:. I've had this tv for a few days now and i'm giving it three stars because there are some real problems that i would like sony to take seriously that almost made me return it (and i'm still considering returning it and getting an lg or samsung). First of all, i'm only streaming content using the apps on this set, so it doesn't matter to me at all what bd/hdmi input quality is like. I bought this for my family to be able to watch netflix/hulu/online store/youtube/etc on. I have 150mb internet service and the tv is hard wired with cat 6 at 1gbps, so there will be no wifi issues for me and i don't expect any streaming problems (i don't have any regular issues with my samsung/roku/tcl setups, all done the same way). . The biggest problem for me: a/v sync (lip sync). I'm not using the built-in speakers (who would? ) and instead am using a sonos playbar connected via toslink optical digital. It's the exact kind of set up you would assume sony tested with and should work flawlessly. What i'm finding is that the audio quality is good, but the tv is sending the audio either in exact sync with the video or just slightly delayed from the video. Combine that with the 30ms of processing time of any external audio system and you have a slight a/v delay problem that can't be fixed with more delay, which is all an external system can do. I ran a bunch of different sync tests, and it looks like the audio is around 30-50ms behind the video for me. It's not quite bad enough to force me to return this, but almost. I can just notice it when people talk and wish so badly sony would add the option that samsung did where you can adjust the audio forward a bit to compensate. If sony fixes this in an update, i will add 1 star to the review and update the review. . Second biggest problem: streaming is just a little clunky and doesn't always work right. You would think this would be the biggest problem for me, but for the most part it does pan out and work, but it's just not a nice tight experience like roku delivers. Often times when you start a show, it's a little jumpy for the first 10 seconds or so - and some titles don't even work at all (tried to watch tommy boy on online store, total failure decoding it). This makes me miss roku badly, because it never had issues like this. . Next problem: the os is just a little clunky. There is stutter when navigating the home items pretty often. Look at roku and lg - those are tight. Samsung is also clunky but that's no excuse. This is 2017 - soc cpus are big and powerful and there is really no reason other than shoddy engineering that the software on a smart tv should have a poor ux (user experience). I would recommend to sony that they evaluate all of the background work being done in order to bring me things like those recommendations on top of the home menu that i don't care about, and see if it's worth a poor navigation experience in order to deliver those. Sometimes i'll press an arrow to move and nothing happens, then a half second later it moves. That's just poor. . Smaller problem: the default motionflow settings are really bad for a lot of content. Severe judder all over the place to the point of where even my wife, who's not sensitive at all, was complaining. What did they test this with? i set it to cinemotion and watched for a bit and it seems quite a bit better. Perhaps that should be the default? i'm leaving it there for now and will watch some more stuff later to see if that really did take care of it. I like a good smooth interpolation, but judder totally ruins it. I'd rather be locked in at 30fps than have alternating 60-120/30 randomly. . I think all of these issues are software related and can be fixed. If sony tightened up the experience, fixed the audio issue and really committed to having great software and a great ux on this tv, i could see how it would become 5 stars, but right now i'm leaving it at 3 because of the av sync issue and because the software just isn't as tight as it should be. . What's good about this set? the picture is pretty good :) good connectivity, though for some reason it doesn't want to turn on from my harmony remote the first time when connected direct via hard line ir input, but that could be my fault. I'm still working on the integration. The android os gives lots of app flexibility, which is cool. . I want to really like this tv, because it's the sort of thing i normally do like quite a bit.

. Mahood, Queensland says

Purchased this tv to replace a 4 year old hd samsung 7000 series. Was fairly excited about all the features and very encouraged by the positive reviews and feedback on this particular model. The "old" samsung continues to work beautifully (the kids were more than happy to take it) but i was looking forward to the upgrade. I was wrong! this feels more like a downgrade! . The picture quality from the hd channels is good but that was to be expected and is not better than the 1080p resolution put out by the old samsung. There are two areas in which this tv has been a big let down. 1) bright and colorful scenes become quickly pixelated losing detail and definition; this is especially notorious on sporting broadcasts. 2) it seems to be absolutely incapable of handling motion in any decent way. The minimal acceleration of images with cause blurriness and pixelation once again. I am very surprised. And dismayed with the poor performance. And missing the old plain hd samsung. I keep tinkering with the settings to see whether i can find a combination that makes everything as good as i was hoping. Couple of weeks in, i have not found it yet.

I. Isabel, North Dakota

While i agree with the other reviews about the quality of the display, the google android tv software is the worst i have ever encountered which was not written by samsung. When something crashes, which happens a lot, including the middle of last night, it seems to default to playing loud google play movie ads, some of them wildly inappropriate (i m glad my wife hasn t used it yet. ) these ads don t respond to the (microscopic) pause or stop buttons; home seemed to work eventually, but temporarily. Even pressing the power button on the remote, or pressing and holding the power button of the display (which supposedly shuts it down) was not enough to stop the screen from lighting up later. I ended up yanking the power cord in the early morning hours. Later: i haven t gotten the loud and inappropriate commercials since i uninstalled the google play app, but the tv woke me up again by lighting up the screen for no apparent reason in the middle of the night.

This is a review of the 49" sony x900e, australian version (x9000e):. (last edited 08/08/17). . Pros:. - image quality has excellent results when tweaked to suit the content you're viewing. - has a fair amount of brightness for hdr purposes compared to cheaper hdr tvs (otherwise it's plenty bright for non-hdr viewing). - low input lag for gaming. - one of the best quality 49" tvs you'll find (it can be difficult to get high quality 49" tvs depending on where you live). - plenty of inputs, including 2x hdmi 2. 0 inputs specifically for 4k, one of which has arc. . Neutral:. - has a large power adapter/brick. If you are wall mounting, you will need to consider what you'll do with the power brick. For 55" and above you can mount the brick to the back of the set. Also note the 75" does not have a brick as the power supply is internal. . - if you are serious about hdr, you may wish to go with the next model up (x930e/x940e), which apparently can get a lot more brighter. What i find with the x900e is that the tv prefers to go fairly dark when hdr is on, so that it can accurately display bright lights in proportion. You can of course make the set brighter to compensate, but then you lose that dynamic range where sunsets and bright lights actually look immensely bright compared to the rest of the image (if everything on the screen is always bright, then you lose the effect). I find the x900e is a nice compromise between a cheap hdr set that has less brightness and a very expensive model. As mentioned before, for general viewing i find this tv is definitely bright enough. . - audio: can't complain, they're typical tv speakers. In fact after all the reviews saying the speakers were horrible, i was actually surprised how good they sounded. I use my own speakers now, so the tv speakers are irrelevant. . Negative:. - the interface, the os, the software. Whatever you want to call it, it is sony's downfall. As soon as i turned on the tv, i downloaded the latest 1gb update. It all installed fine. But in using the tv the same day i plugged it in, it crashed on me no less than three times when i was doing mundane things. It pops up a window saying "such-and-such app is not responding". All i was doing was browsing through the epg or the home menu. . - it comes with android tv, which is an alright interface if there's some grunt powering it (like nvidia shield), but sony have it running on an inadequate cpu. So it's laggy. Sometimes it'll lag when all you're doing is adjusting the volume. Probably because it has to load a different operating system for volume control, which leads to the next point:. . - there's four different interfaces for the tv: the action menu for general settings, the discover menu which is a popup menu for recommendations and whatnot, then there's freeview which is the interface for catch-up free-to-air tv in australia and uk (not sure what the equivalent would be in the us), and then there's the home button for the android tv interface. It's like having a phone that is android, apple and windows phone all in one. It's messy and inconsistent. . - the remote looks like it belongs in 1995. Why does it have so many buttons? who the heck needs a dedicated number pad these days? the build quality is good, but the remote is embarrassing. Wait, i know what it has so many buttons: it's because the operating system is poor. When the os is not user-friendly, you need extra remote buttons to compensate. Numbers and playback controls (for example) should be part of the screen interface, you don't need a physical button for every function. . - it takes no less than 15 button presses to turn hdr on and off. Hdr is supposed to turn on automatically depending on the content, but it doesn't generally happen for downloaded hdr files (ie 4k demos). One of the tv's main features really needs to be accessible much faster. . Summary:. It is hard to recommend tv this for the casual user, solely because of the interface. But if you don't care about that and/or will be primarily using another interface like the nvidia shield or roku, then by all means grab this tv. Especially if you're after a 49" with fantastic image quality. . I expect sony will be updating the software over the next number of months, so if there is significant changes then i will come back and amend my review. I'd love to give more than 3 stars, but just can't justify it. The operating system will be a deal breaker for many.

Be warned! i only wish someone had taken the time to post such a review before i bought this product. Sony used to have a good reputation. They are now riding the fumes of that reputation. I have had to contact customer service no less than a dozen times. Every time they release a software update there are significant issues often with complete service interruption. There is some sort of android or user interface error at least every week. There are currently 55, 000+ views in their own forum regarding a problem with the tv caught in a constant on the off cycle. This happened to me and they were unable to resolve it. After trying all sorts of things for different models i was able to resolve it myself. Now, one day later the tv will not boot up at all. Of course, sony takes no responsibility whatsoever despite the thousands of customers with the same problem after the last update. I would never buy another sony product. I have several samsungs, an lg and a panasonic. No problems on any of them. I really hope someone starts a class-action lawsuit.

Short:. This tv cannot play glitch free audio from a directly connected blu-ray or dvd player. . Longer:. I bought this tv when my older sony 46" stopped working. I was looking forward to a slightly bigger picture with better blacks. I read many hours about various televisions before purchasing, so i knew about some of the limitations compared to my older television, such as no s-video, one of the analog inputs is a 1/8" jack without the necessary adapter cord included, and considerably worse sound quality (blame it on a much thinner chassis). Other things were a complete surprise. . Partly because i have an older non-hdmi receiver, the television was the switching center of our audio/video system. All video is routed to it, and except for 7 channel direct bypass from the oppo bdp-93 blu-ray to the receiver, all audio is routed to the television and fed to the receiver through an optical connection. The older sony television handled this easily. Not only were fewer analog inputs a limitation for the new television, but the first major problem to surface is that the television would not play audio from an oppo bdp-93 blu-ray player. I tried different cables and inputs, but would only see a picture, no audio. I finally tried the less preferred hdmi 2 output on the oppo and was able to get sound. Now the problem was that the television would not pass bitstream for multichannel sound if the internal speakers are engaged. No, i don't use the internal speakers for most viewing, but it is nice to have them when checking the news or something for a few minutes. In order to be able to use the internal speakers and have bitstream surround sound would require regularly entering a few layers of menus to turn the internal speakers on or off. . Leaving the internal speakers off i could get surround sound through my receiver, but every few seconds there was a break in the audio, and when this happened a light would flash on the receiver showing it was losing the digital signal. Further testing showed that even if i was not using the receiver, the television could not play audio without glitches when a blu-ray or dvd player was directly connected with an hdmi cable. This test was repeated with three different disc players, at least as many different hdmi cables, and using blu-ray and dvd discs. . I had a newer hdmi receiver on hand for performing tests, so i checked to see if the sony would work in a more modern configuration, and it did. Using hdmi and arc for blu-ray connections, i could have bitstream surround sound, and with the receiver off (but plugged in) the tv would reactivate its internal speakers. Even in this more up to date, typical setup, the television still could not provide glitch-free audio. The only time audio worked flawlessly was when it was played by the receiver from the disc player without passing through the tv. The older television never had any audio problems, and provided more versatility in its audio menu options. . What really surprised me is that after performing the test with the hdmi receiver, the television no longer functioned the same way. Before the hdmi arc test i could switch the internal speakers on or off to have pcm or bitstream audio sent to the receiver over an optical connection. After the arc testing, even with the older receiver and optical connection, the television refused to turn off its internal speakers, and would not provide bitstream to the receiver; it continued to seek an arc connection that was no longer available. . Though the picture does seem to be nicer than the nine year older television, and definitely has better blacks, they are not as good as i was hoping. I intentionally bought a local dimming set, and while i can see how it works when i perform tests with white corners on a black background, in practice i am surprised at how the entire screen has a faint glow with a small fraction of the screen lit up, such as with credits, or even a centered test box. When the screen is dark, it's wonderfully dark, but put something anywhere except an extreme corner, and the entire screen will glow, though not as much as on the old television. . As a display, it's an upgrade, but it feels like in the rush to bring another "smart" tv to market, that the more fundamental aspects of the television, like sound, were not thoroughly tested or completed.

I was choosing between this tv in a 65" and an lg oled b7 in 55". Everyone told me that i should go for size over picture quality when picking either of these. All the reviews i read said that this tv would be great and have some of the best black levels. I chose to try the 900e 65", hoping that it would look good. I was coming from a 55" sony xbr which was really good in 2012. I set up the 900e and wow. It may have been because i'd never had 4k but i was blown away by the picture quality. I will say that it looked amazing in the day light. The tv was bright and beautiful. Now stop reading if you don't want to hear the cons about the tv because here's where the issue came. My previous tv was edge lit led. I'd always understood that full array was to be better. I watch a fair amount of tv in the dark. When the lights went off, anytime anything lit up on the tv, i could clearly see blooming around the item. I believe i was seeing the lighting "zones" which the led's were placed. Whatever the cause, it was bad enough for me to immediately want to return the tv. I swear my 2012 sony had better dark room performance that this one. I tried different modes and settings with no good changes. If you plan to watch at night and are a stickler for black levels, this is not the tv for you. The 65" was nice, but i had to get a better picture. I bought the tv at best buy brand new. I'll also say that the android tv was laggy. When it worked, i kinda liked it. If you're between this and an oled, go with the oled. For bright room viewing, it looked amazing though.

H. Colleen, Devon says

Beautiful picture but the android interface is very slow and clunky. Typically takes 5-6 seconds to respond after a button is pressed. Samsung and lg have better interfaces, but sony has the best non-oled picture. The remote is horrible too. Also, it won t control the xbox as well as a poor design. Such a beautiful picture though. . One strange thing. If i stream a movie and try to change the volume, it crashes. I am not sure what one has to do with the other, but set your volume before watching a movie. . I have had the tv for 2 days now and it has probably crashed 6-7 times on top of being very slow. It is extremely annoying. When it works, it freezes a fair bit. I really hope sony fixes this or i may need to change to a samsung. I am removing a star.

J. Rose, Sandwell

. Not the "i was blown away" experience for which i was hoping. 3 stars because the tv is all it claims to be but the vast improvements over traditional hd counterparts just is not present. . Upgraded from a 5+ year old 1080p vizio, same size, and i was expecting a more obvious improvement. The colors are little deeper and the upscaled hd content is a bit sharper but looking at old and new, side by side, it is simply not worth the price difference. . Conclusion: save your money until there is more 4k/hdr content available, i know i wish i had.

I love this tv. The picture is great and when it works it's wonderful. The only problem i'm having is that the os for the tv is painfully slow at times. It's choking somewhere and i'm not sure what's causing it. For example if i press the input button the input menu won't come up for another full 2 - 3 seconds. No exaggeration whatsoever. And of course when you press a button you expect things to happen that alone makes the 2 - 3 seconds feel like 2 - 3 hours. Maybe i got a defective model? . . Again the tv is great when it works.

W. Laura, Torbay

The tv is great and would get 5 stars by itself as would the excellent online store delivery personnel, but all of that goodwill is replaced by anger and rage when you try to use the sony android tv setup if you have second factor authentication enabled on your google account. . It starts innocently with a sony screen asking for your google email address that takes you to a sony screen asking for your google password. Then there is a screen that says it needs additional authentication and instead of asking for your google authenticator code, it send you to the google login page for your email followed by the standard google page asking for your password. . You have now entered your google email and password twice and it looks like all you now have to do is enter your 6 digit google authenticator code on the normal looking google second factor authentication screen and hit next. Unfortunately this is a nasty trick because google authentication codes are only good for 30 seconds and if you hit next after the code expires or accidentally it back you have to go through the whole process of entering your email and password in twice (sony then google) to get back to the same authenticator screen. . The authenticator screen looks normal and seems like all you have to do is enter the 6 digit code and hit down twice and then right once to get to the next button, but the direction keys on the remote don't work consistently. Hitting down after entering the code works correctly once, but then it starts taking you up the screen instead of down. The other direction key are have strange behavior challenges and do not behave consistently. It seems like no one at sony ever tested this horrible user experience. . When you finally figure out the strange key combination and able to enter the 6 digit code and click on the next button in less then 30 seconds, the rest of the setup is pretty normal.

I purchased this tv in december and i have very mixed feelings about it. Movies played with my bluray player look awesome. Netflix streaming also seems good. However, regular tv, especially live tv, is very disappointing. Every now and then there is a flicker. It is like there was some kind of electrical interference or an issue with comcast. But, it does not happen on any of my other tv's in the house. It has been very inconsistent, but seems to be happening more regularly now. I will keep people updated.

Q. Alberta, Westminster

I am a sony fanboy. I love sony cameras, tvs, the playstation division, etc. Every tv in my house is a sony. To me, sony has the best picture on the market. Purchased this tv to replace a kdl-46xbr6, which to this day is the best tv i have ever owned. I wish it never broke down after 9 years. I decided to stick with sony after having the best experience with a television. I decided on the xbr55x900e after watching review videos on youtube and reading the reviews on online store. . I went through two xbr55x900e and spent 10 hours total with sony technical support, which was about 7 phone calls to try and fix the issues with my "smart tv. " this television suffers from the android os. It has no business on a tv. Apparently, the hdmi arc port is one of two problems i had with this set. I have no sound bars or systems setup with my tv; i just use the speakers on the system. If you are using apps on the tv like hbo go, youtube, netflix, what have you, it will at some point with in 48 hours lose the ability to broadcast sound when you switch to a physical device such as a cable box. You have to reset the tv to make it usable again, like reseting a phone. When i watch tv i like to watch tv, i do not, i repeat, i do not like to reset my tv in front of my friends and family and watch the android gears spinning for a 5 minute boot up. Its embarrassing, frankly. . The second problem is android's tv os for sony and it is unstable. It doesn't work half the time, it times out, loses network connectivity via both wired and wirelessly. The system memory on the tv is less 9gb so its more than likely has a 16gb chip onboard memory, so the os constantly needs to wipe data cache on each individual app. This is a step sony always took to remedy my device and had some success with. I ultimately factory reset my first x900e 3 times then returned it, and for the last unit the second time i had to restore to factory settings i told sony support that this would be my last sony tv for some time. . One of the last phone call a senior representative at sony tech support told me how to put the tv in pro mode and restrict the android os and "stabilize" my viewing experience. Press down display, mute, volume up and home all as fast as you can and the tv will go into pro mode. I restricted the android's os by doing this, and thought my problems were behind me. The loss of audio issue came back still. Two weeks with this tv, and no way of making it stable for more than 24 hours without a soft reset at minimum. Reseting this set was a daily occurrence. . I really regret, i couldn't make this work. I wanted it to work. Every time i called sony support, i wanted it to be the last time. Its a damn shame too, because the picture is gorgeous, and the sound is great on this set when it works, but thats the problem. It doesn't work all the time. Sony needs a firmware, and android patch to fix these problems, but they won't even admit that there is a software bug. Look at the forums and up on this set. I'm not the only one out there with theses problems. . I can't believe i'm going to have to look into a samsung after this post. People who know me, know i hate samsung products with a passion.

K. Sheila, Manchester says

As so many other reviews have mentioned. The remote is so bad and both the android interface and the slow system make this almost unusable. Yes the picture is fantastic but i am to the point where i do not think it is worth buying this tv just for the picture quality. I also have a newer lg and the remote and interface on that is fantastic. I am wishing i would have purchased the equivalent lg product.

G. Bethany, Vermont

Great picture. Android system can be a little dodgy at times. Be prepared for trouble mounting this tv, a power brick that's 9 inches long are you kidding me sony? ! don't get me wrong i'm a professional and i can deal with it. It's just a totally unnecessary and stupid design.

Z. Claudia, Derbyshire says

Worked for a month then picture started to flash in and out irrespective of input (sat, ps3, or xbox). Now, just a bunch of large scrambled squares. Hope the purchased extended warranty is worth it. . Update - 13 nov 17: exceptional sony customer service. They are replacing (with refurb), but they have been on top of it. Rating remains the same however; as it is a review of the product itself.

U. Rhonda, Connecticut

Televisions have two functions: display a picture and play a sound. Somehow, this television does not play sounds properly. It occasionally develops a 3-second lag between picture and sound which requires turning the television off and back on. The bluetooth feature simply doesn't work. I would ask how sony could be so incompetent, but the i suspect the real problem is that they laid off their own developers and outsourced too many functions to android. Televisions were able to display properly synchronized audio and video decades ago. Please, silicon valley, go back to intro to comp sci and learn some basic programming skills.

L. Gilmore, City of London says

I'll start by saying that this tv has the prettiest picture in it's price range. 4k hdr content looks stunning, and the black levels, while not perfect, are still better than most competitors in this price range due to the full-array backlighting. With that said, this tv has other flaws that caused me to return it and purchase an lg oled (way more pricey but i knew i'd be getting an arguably better all-around tv). . To start with, the screen on sony had some streaking all across the top that could be seen with the power off under certain lighting. It wasn't visible most of the time with the television on (the backlighting and bright color palette helped mask it), but it was a worry for me nonetheless, as a screen with that kind of issue out of the box would certainly lead to other issues later. Secondly, the android os on this tv is among the most sluggish and unresponsive i've experienced. Sure, there are a lot of apps to choose from, but you won't enjoy interacting with them if you don't like waiting for a selection you've keyed on the remote to actually execute (there's about a . 5 second to 1 second delay). Perhaps a future firmware update could address this. . All told, i'm a bit saddened by this tv-the picture really is gorgeous, and i certainly would have kept it if not for the issues i mentioned.

Y. April, Hawaii

Great picture quality. Unfortunately the android tv os is slow to navigate. On top of that the bravia sync does not work anymore. I have a yamaha 2016 receiver and sync was originally working. But in the last couple of days i noticed the receiver doesn't go off when i turn off the tv. I then checked the sync settings on the tv and the yamaha receiver will no longer show up as a device. In fact nothing shows up anymore. I double checked that hdmi control was enabled on the receiver. I tried disabling and re enabling the settings on both the tv and receiver. I even tried unplugging the hdmi cables and reconnecting them. Nothing changes. I believe that sony's version of hdmi control, their bravia sync, is kind of flaky when it comes to working with other non sony devices.

M. Lewis, Wakefield says

Died less than 30 days after i bought it. So, at least, i can return it. Because i don't live in a big house, i couldn't store the shipping boxes, so i'll have to pay to have it packed for shipping. That's annoying. The television was great when it worked, fantastic picture. Turned it on this morning and got this picture. I just don't expect this from a $1200 television. Now what do i buy? there are no great reviews for any televisions that don't include one like mine: untimely death of the television. If you buy this, buy the warranty.

N. Newell, Picardie

I did not buy this from online store, but i do own this tv (actually this is my second set on my way to a third). I had nothing but trouble with the first, banding, blooming, apps would stop of no reason, blurry/jerking screen). Had to warranty the first as it was after 30 days. Second set has pretty much the same issues. Cable looks terrible on the set. Very pixelated, crushed colors, halo effect is very bad and on scenes with a solid background color you can see swirls and waves. Motion like water and fire makes image blur (with all motion options). Live tv and live recorded (concerts and the like) are unwatchable they are so blurry, all detail is lost. 4k, streaming, ps4 pro looks amazing but it may be due to everything else looking so poor. Biggest issue is the tv likes to randomly turn itself back on through the day. I had an issue a few weeks back where i could not get it to power on. Called sony and had an appointment but i finally got it to power on after a few hours of "holding buttons and unplugging/plugging in". Cancelled appointment after as getting a brand new tv "serviced" after a few months basically means i have a $1200. Refurb. I plan to wait until this inevitability dies and i can use my extended to trade out for a new one (or hopefully a different brand). One poor set i can understand, but 2 with the same issues is a quality control issue. So disappointed. I went by the online reviews, rting site, and the bb salesman for this and nothing "sold seems to match. I have 2 friends that also have this set and they have basically the same issues, one to less extent. All have the power issue. Overall, if you are consuming 4k content or gaming it will be brilliant, all else, a big expensive dissapointment. If this was in the 500-700 range i would be slightly miffed, for $1, 200, there are days i will not even turn it on it angers me so much. After 5 months i am stuck with sony but in a perfect world i would get a refund and go a different way. One of my biggest regrets in 2017 in terms of purchases. (for the record, i did watch the same content from the same source on a much cheaper competitor set and it looked great-which made me even angrier- so it is not the cable source).

Power issues with the sony ultra hd tv since first month of use. If your new sony tv does not power on reliably, or if it makes a popping sound, return it to online store within the 30-day window for replacement. I didn t. I tried workarounds with customer service instead. Then it was too late to do an exchange. I am now in month three of trying to resolve the problem with sony. They sent a new power supply, but it died - and the tv with it - two days after i connected the new power supply. Now i have a totally dead tv and will have to wait for a repair call to be scheduled, and then for a technician to come to my home and replace the main board on the tv. My living room will become a workshop. Soooo sorry i bought a sony. The brand is no longer what it was.

D. Florence, West Berkshire

I recently purchased the tv, and although it was a bit technical, everything mostly went well when setting the system up. I did have an issue with the new remote control being able to scan and find my channels (i have sudden link cable and it cannot find any of the channels). I called sony support and the support person ran me though a battery of tests in an attempt to assist, to no avail. She finally said well if you have cable it won't work with that, you need to have it hooked up with hdmi (not that i believe that but what do you do? ). So i have to use my sudden link remote to change channels and to access saved programs on the dvr. I have to use the sony remote to turn the set on, and to do everything else, what a pain. But, i kind of got use to that. The tv picture is awesome, no complaints there and the set seems to be constructed very well. But, the sound quality sucks, and the speakers do not face forward, which makes it even worse. So i got me a nice soundbar and hooked it up, which was a major improvement and allowed me to clearly hear voices. But, yesterday, more issues (january 25, 2018). There was an android update on the system, and for some dumb reason i let it install. The update caused several issues, which i can't seem to get fixed. There is lag time when using the remote control. My sound system no longer works so it is back to the subpar speakers. Another call to support. Support ran me though the step by step again (which i had tried before calling them), all to no avail. So i do an internet search to look for answers. It seems a whole lot of people are having the same, or other issues, related to the hdmi hookups and it is all a result of the android update. I also found there seems to be no way to roll back to the software that was on the set before the update. Very frustrating, especially since i have hearing problems and without the soundbar i have trouble hearing with the poor sound quality. . Picture quality: excellent. System software: terrible. Customer support: although they are kind, it is nothing more than a cut and paste checklist, and in my opinion, if it does not fall in the checklist category, well forget it. . If you have a sony tv, do not let it install the update, period! . . If they had their stuff together on the system software, i would have gave the system 5 stars. Hopefully they will hire some programmers who know what they are doing. Also it would be nice if customer support would take the next steps needed in helping customers get their issues rectified.

P. Finch, Wisconsin says

Worked amazing for the first week. Then the screen started to consistently flicker. Tried doing a factory data reset also unplugging over night. Sony told me i'm first with this problem (they always say that) and i couldnt find anyone else with the same error. Besides that the wi-fi is very strong, netflix streamed flawlessly, unlike the older sony tv i had. I'm sure that android is stable enough for tv's, i experienced slowdowns and had to hold power and do a soft reset. Not sure people that do not know a lot about android would know about this. An advantage to android is being able to side load my vpn app.
