Review for lcd dlp projector vaulted ceiling

Price was $19.99. Excellent product. And for the price, it works just fine. It's easy to assemble and it fits almost any projector, even though mine is discontinued, a dell s300w, that requires only three screws in a triangle shape to fit the mount into the base of the projector. All i had to do was unscrew one of the arms and put it in the provided hole in the middle to be able to use only three arms. It's really adjustable and when you finally get in the right place, it stays in that position like forever! would recommend it to everyone.

Preface

The product had to be returned as it does not fit optoma hd142x projector. This is not an issue with the product. It just seemed to be compatible from description which it is not. If this fits to other projector, it seemed to be good product for the price. Videosecu Lcd Dlp Projector Vaulted Ceiling Mount Bracket With Adjustable Extension Pole To 26.7 - Black Pj2b 1c9 Review (pj2b)

This a nice mount. I am using it with my optoma hd141x which has 3 mounting holes. As seen in the product photo, there are 4 arms but removing one arm was quite easy. As other reviewers have noted, it is a universal mount so you have to figure out the best way to arrange the legs. For my particular projector, i had to reverse one of the arms so it could fit right. (not being mechanically minded, i was very proud of myself that i figured that out and then i read that many other people have done that, too. Proud, yes - original, no. ). In the end, it is obvious that the mount is not made for my projector. But, it works and when the lights go down, no one really notices. . The instructions did show how to configure the base if you are only using 3 arms instead of 4. However, the base did not match up with what the instructions showed. It wasn't a big deal as i could swivel the arms around as i needed. But i thought i would mention it in case someone gets confused like i did. . While all the screws and hardware are included, the screws to go into the projector itself were not long enough. So, i did have to make a trip down to the local hardware store to pick up the 3 screws that i needed to attach the arms to the projector itself. While not a terribly big deal, i did knock off 1 star. . Once mounted into the ceiling, it is a solid installation. I am quite happy with it. It doesn't look as nice as it could if it were a mount made specifically for the projector itself, but for the price (very good! ) and the solidness of the installation, i would buy it again. -Y. PROS
  • I purchased the epson 8350. Then read the reviews for this mount and ordered it. Yes, the instructions are not very good. I had to look at the reviews again to see the "y" configuration everyone was talking about. It did not occur to me to remove 2 of the extension legs from the square base and reattach 1 to the hole right in between them. It is not shown in the instructions but there is an image of it here on online store. . After making the "y", the legs barely reached the 3 mounting screws on the epson. I had to loosen the 3 extension leg bolts to get the screws to mount in the projector. Then i tightened the extension leg bolts. The legs are not straight but they are tight. . It appears the holes/openings for the extension leg bolts can be a little off when the manufacturer has them drilled out. If the holes on the extension legs were just 1mm or 2mm toward the center of the base, then i would not have been able to use this mount. And if the holes on the extension legs had been 1mm or 2mm toward the mounting screws, then it would have been perfect. . I was lucky and got mine to work. So i think you are taking a risk if you are buying this for the epson 8350.
  • Works well with my cheapo led projector; it had a bit of a non-standard mount pattern but i was able to switch around the various brackets to get it to fit without any actual modification. The pole it comes with is nice, but isn't long enough for my application - i needed almost four feet; i have a 12' vaulted ceiling and the projector only has so much keystone adjustment, not to mention it made it easy for me to reach up and push buttons on the projector that way. I wound up buying a piece of composite trim (1"x2") from the local home center and cut it to length, then used screws to attach the mount to it on both ends. Works like a charm!
CONS
  • One of the most complicated things i have ever assembled. I am very handy and don't normally need for directions but this made no sense and have of the pieces were missing or stripped it was awful.
  • The mount is decent. Took some thinking to get it fitting the optoma hd141x, but it is doable. I was not at all happy that i had to go out to the hardware store and get 1/2 inch machine screws to fit into the projector. It's nice that they give a variety of screws, but they are all quite short and i can't see any of them fitting into the. I imagine that if you are mounting a projector, you'd like the screw to go in more than 1 thread's worth. When on the ceiling, it is not very stable, as in, adjusting the projector is not so much a fine tuning or a twist of a screw here or one there, but more like twist one screw, they entire thing moves around, and you hope that when you release your hand, it will end up where you hoped the picture would go. Overall, i'm happy with the price, but the mount just was nothing to rave about. Note that i did not have to use the extension pole.
  • We installed a projector 30' up in the air in our church using this bracket. In order to obtain this height, we rented a lift which needless to say was pretty expensive, but was a must for safety reasons. . Spent about 45m attaching the projector to the bracket, as it's not a very straight forward process. Once attached we proceeded up to the beam where it was going to be attached; we spent another hour and a half trying to get the bracket to stay pointing in one direction. With the arm fully extended, the bracket seemed to want to lean toward one side, and not shoot straight forward. This was very frustrating. Finally, after messing with it for that long, we got it in the desired position. . The next day, after returning the lift, we noticed the bracket had shifted to the right a bit. We did our best to compensate for this shift using the setting found in our high-end projector, but still it's not quite right on. Looking back, i've come to the conclusion that it's the cheap hardware used to control the bracket/arm of this mount; using sub-par screws and mounting hardware, it's just not able to hold the projector in a set position. . It's been about two months now since having mounted our very lightweight projector and we're noticing that the projector is now starting to shift even more off the center point. I guess we're gonna have to rent the lift again and purchase a better mount. . I wouldn't recommend using this mount for high-positioned projectors, unless you own a ladder or a lift that you can often use to re-align your projector. Lower ceiling applications might not be all that bad. . Good luck.

lcd dlp projector vaulted ceiling VideoSecu LCD DLP Projector Vaulted Ceiling Mount Bracket with Adjustable Extension Pole to 26.7" - Black PJ2B 1C9 (Switch to Mobile/Desktop Version)

I ordered this for my viewsonic projector on the hopes that it would work. I read a few negative reviews which stated the mount absolutely would not work for the viewsonic projectors. The people who wrote those reviews must be the same kids in kindergarden who could not figure out how to stack blocks. I mean seriously, try thinking outside the box for half a second. I gave this mount four stars four two reasons; . . 1. The instructions do not show anything for a three hole mount like the viewsonic projectors use. It only shows the four hole mount option. . 2. The directions are rather vague regarding the hardware. A little unclear, again, with some thought, the correct parts are able to be identified. . For anybody thinking about purchasing this mount for a viewsonic, just remember you will have to completely disassemble the quad mount. Turn some of the mounts backwards, and remove one of the arms. The mount comes with two short mounts and four long mounts. It took me about fifteen minutes to figure out how to set up the mount. And that was with four screaming children in the house. . Bottom line, this mount is secure and well worth the 25. 00 dollars. It is fully adjustable and comes with all the hardware you need. It even comes with the allen (hex) wrenches. All you need is a drill and a screwdriver.

Click to see NoticeVideosecu Projector Vaulted Adjustable Extension (pj2b)"This product gets a lower rating from me than it could, mostly because of how complicated it can be to actually attach the hand to your projector. They make two of the arms almost completely adjustable, and then the other two arms don't adjust very much at all. I can't fathom the purpose of making the product this way, but it made it very clunky to attach to my projector. . Either way, not a huge deal - i was just kind of surprised to see something that seemed like an obvious design flaw in an otherwise decent product. I got it figured out and it's working great for me now. . For those with drop-ceiling: this may or may not be the mount that you want. I actually cut a little rectangular hole in a tile, mounted a 2x4 between the joists and mounted this thing to that. It's rock-solid, but i think they make mounts that are a little better catered to people with recessed ceilings. . And for everyone considering a ceiling-mounted projector: one easy thing to overlook is that you're likely going to need an electrical outlet on your ceiling. Depending on what kind of ceiling you have, this might not be something you can easily do yourself."

STR-169120 Silver Ticket 120 Diagonal 16:9 4K Ultra HD Ready HDTV 6 Piece Fixed Frame Projector Screen White Material

This projection screen far exceeded my expectations. Very well made components, engineered to fit together perfectly. Quite an ingenious design! well-packaged for shipping. Clear instructions. I could not be more pleased. Also very much appreciated the person who posted the video instructions, as i've never assembled anything like this and it really helped me to see how it all went together. I was able to assemble and hang it up by myself in about 90 minutes. I would highly recommend watching the 4:59 "excellent screen" video before assembling. I got the 92" grey screen, and it really is excellent. So glad i got the grey vs. The white screen, because it seems to help with the richness/depth of the images, and also is less stark in the room than white would be when the projector is off. Highly recommended!

The silver ticket products fixed frame projection screen offers powerful performance for the price. This screen features real projection screen material, not a sheet. The material is a white stretchy, high-quality vinyl at 1. 1 gain that is designed for watching movies. Wait until you see the colors! there is no resolution lost at any angle. This screen truly assembles much faster than any other brand available! forget about tucking the screen material into the frame - the silver ticket tension rod system saves you time and frustration. How does the material connect to the frame? each side of the material has a pocket. A rod slides through the pocket to attach to the frame. This saves you time during assembly, but also removes any puckers or wrinkles in the viewing surface. The rod holds the material perfectly square all around the whole frame. This pocket and rod system remains hidden behind the frame so you only see the movie. Forget about tricky installations - this fixed frame screen mounts on the wall much like a large picture frame. The sturdy aluminum frame is wrapped, not flocked, with a light absorbing black velvet fabric to absorb over-projected light so you don't have to be a professional when aligning your projector. While other brands use square tubing in their frames, this screen is built with durable extruded aluminum that contours down to the projected image so you won't have any ugly shadow on the image area. Str 169120 Silver Ticket 120 Diagonal (Ce Accessory) FAQ.

I purchased this as a replacement for a diy screen. Now that i finally have it mounted, i have to say it's pretty fantastic. There are no wrinkles. More importantly, there is no warping like i had with my diy screen. I'm extremely pleased. . However, it did take me forever to build it, but that was entirely my fault. I wanted the absolute biggest screen that would fit my wall. The wall is ten feet wide and i bought this 120" screen. I did not have the recommended two feet on all sides of the screen as i was putting it together on the floor. This made sliding the rods into the screen laborious. Had i been able to insert them level with the screen material, things would have gone much quicker. Since i was doing it at pretty extreme angles, it was tedious. Once the rods were in it was smooth sailing. My advice is to buy a screen that is slightly smaller than you room ; ). . The other thing of note is that the screen material has a vinyl odor. It's not super strong, nor offensive, but it its noticeable walking into our 10'x14' theater. I'm sure it will dissipate in a few days. . I'm looking forward to see what the rest of the family thinks the first time we watch something together on the new screen. -Notice from B. Imelda, Haringey

Great deal for what it is. Was my dalite i had prior better? yes. Was it 800$ better? no. . If you can handle that your frame is not just four pieces you bolt together and that hanging it is, well, significantly more of a pain in the butt; it's a great screen. Since it is a fixed screen i was more than happy to pocket the 800$ savings and deal with those extra headaches. Also despite some reviews, i was able to assemble the entire screen myself in about half an hour which included stretching the screen itself. Not a huge fan of the plastic rods and plastic slider clips vs the dalite snaps but again, it works and it is mounted to the wall so i don't forsee it being a problem as it will not be moving at all. . Good value and the screen itself is high quality material.

- O. ElidaI have had about 10 different screen for our home theater over the past 20 years. This is by far the best, and reasonably priced. Assembly took a bit of time but some reviews suggested it was hard - it really isn't. Also, some reviews suggest the holes for screws don't line up well. You need to use the standard practice of starting all screws or bolts in their holes before you tighten any of them. The screen came out with no wrinkles and is a huge upgrade over the elite screens model we had before.

I am super happy with this screen! it arrived a day earlier then expected so that was a great start! it only took me and one other person 1 hour to put together. I did not have any issues with the instructions that were provided, all the instructions were clear and simple. The only thing that we struggled with was the very last step which was inserting the support bar across the center so one thing i suggest is putting that bar in place before snapping the last few pins for the screen. I absolutely recommend this screen!

VIVO Universal Extending White Ceiling Projector Mount / Height Adjustable Projection MOUNT-VP02W

This projector mount worked perfectly for my epson powerlite home cinema 2000 mounted on a vaulted ceiling. The only thing that turned out bad was the terrible drywall anchors that come with it. I had one stud and needed 3 anchors. The anchors that came with it ended up spinning in the drywall. I had to buy heavy-duty anchors that have a brace that pops open on the other side of the ceiling. I love how you can hide your wires inside the tube and also hides the wire hole in the ceiling.

Mount-vp02w is a brand new, heavy duty, universal ceiling projector mount. Ideal for any home or office, this high grade steel mount is weight tested at 30lbs and designed with adjustable arms to fit most projector brands with mounting ranges from 2" to 12. 5". Mount-vp02w extends from 15" to 23" from flat ceilings to fit the user's needs. Features include 15 degree tilt, 15 degree swivel, and 360 degree rotation to maximize projection angles. Simple tightening of joints makes this as fluid or stationary as desired. This is a quick assembly and comes with common mounting hardware. The projector mount comes in a white finish. Important note: as mentioned above the mounting arms for this projector mount have a maximum reach of 12. 5". Before purchasing, be sure to find the mounting holes on top of your projector and measure the distance between each one (especially the ones diagonal from one another). If all diagonals measure 12. 5" or less then this mount will fit your projector. Compatibility fits most projectors on the market. Very well made and easy to assemble with clear instructions, i recommend this mount if it is compatible with your projector -Notice from . Taylor, Auvergne

This product is a well engineered hanger. The slide in the extension is great. It was missing one nut, an m-m. Was able to substitute the same size with a bolt and nut combination. The instructions are easy to understand and well laid out. There aren't any written instructions. That is usually a plus. . I am going to hang the projector from a suspended ceiling. The panels are not strong enough and will break if pulled on to much. I am going to substitute 1/2" plywood. The mounting panel is less than half the regular size. Because of the smaller size, i am going to completely assembly the hanger plus the projector, then set it in place. Probably will need help with that. Looks good so far. Will try to add more info later. . Later:. Although the product advertising says that the wiring can be hidden the the column, you can obviously get wire through it and you should be able to get the svga plug through, as well. I have my doubts about the dvi plug. The dvi plug is a little larger, you will have problems. The svga plug is a tight fit. As noted above, i had to replace a set of screws. Because of that, my svga plug will not go through. I will have to use black cable ties and run it down the back of the hanger. . Still pleased, though.

- N. PearceEasy to mount and holds my projector very well. I extended it low enough so that my ceiling fans are not in the way

Didn't quite fit my epson project. It is only in 3 rather than 4 or 5 holes. It wasn't big enough. Is still holding it up, but far less securely than i would like. More an issue with the projector than this mount, but couldn't find a bigger one for non-ridiculous prices.

Does what it needs too. It is highly adjustable and all the adjustment screws have nylon washers. It comes mostly assembled so setup is easy. Vivo Universal Adjustable Projection Mount Vp01w (Office Electronics) FAQ.

I haven't mounted many projectors but this mount was very simple and easy to use. I am happy with the results. Pros: it is heavy duty, super adjustable, and straight forward installation. Cons: if the mounting holes on the projector had been any closer together this mount wouldn't have worked. I could be missing a way to make the arms tighter (i didn't have to look because mine just fit) but i don't think so. The adjustments don't lock in super tight. My projector has been in place for a few weeks and has needed no readjust but when i bumped the unit during install it moved out out adjustment too easily for my taste. I would purchase again! -Notice from L. Morgan, Tennessee

We bought this to mount our projector on the ceiling. The double pivot causes the projector to hang quite low, so we took out one of the pivots and just made sure that the mount was positioned properly. It has been holding strong for the past 9 months without any issues and does not vibrate at all when the fan on the projector is going at full speed.

- N. CarolSturdy and has many holes to accommodate most projectors. I personally used this on an epson 2030 no issues. Awesome! even fitted it to a tripod without extra parts.

Got it to go with my new optoma 1080 3d short throw projector. My projector only has 3 connection holes so all i did was remove one of the arms then fiddle with the 3 arms until it fit. Once mounted, it is easy to move just a little to get it just right. Why pay more?

Homegear 110 HD Motorized 16:9 Projector Screen W/ Remote Control

This screen was the near perfect solution to adding home theater to our den. We were not looking for a "high end" system, just a nice screen to use with our epson 2030 projector and existing (older) 7. 1 audio system. . The screen is fairly lightweight and comes packaged in a long box with excellent protection against bending or drops. As others have mentioned, there is a "lip" or protrusion of the casing at about the mid point. This is not noticeable when the screen is suspended and does not affect the ability to raise/lower the screen. . I worried about installation of such a large object, but, fortunately, it when up very, very easily. This was partly due to the good luck of being able to fasten the screws (not supplied) directly into the wood framing behind the drywall and not having to locate studs or affix with drywall anchors. This worked for me, it may not work for you. . I have the screen mounted high on our den wall and this makes the power cord almost too short to reach the receptacle. I wish the cord could be about 2 feet longer. . We had the same issues as were previously reported with the screen "sticking" inside the housing when we first tried to activate it. The motor whirred but nothing happened. It turns out that the bar at the bottom of the screen tends to get pulled into the housing during packaging or shipment, and should be manually pulled down before attempting to electrically lower the screen. This takes about 5 or 10 seconds to accomplish. The next issue was with "creases" visible near the bottom of the screen. While obvious in room light, they are actually invisible during projection. Some have suggested the use of a hair dryer to warm the screen material and smooth out the wrinkles. I may try that if i find myself seeing the creases during a show. . The vendor shipped the screen immediately upon receiving my order and it arrived one or two days before i expected it. I give them high marks for that.

Homegear 110 HD Motorized 16:9 Projector Screen W/ Remote ControlHomegear-110-HD-Motorized-Projector

Homegear 110 Hd Motorized 16:9 Projector Screen W/ Remote Control (Office Products) FAQ.

It's a great sized automatic screen for $120 with only a few issues that i've noticed which come with the price. . 1) the mounting points on the screen to attach it to the ceiling or wall are fixed at the far ends of the screen, which in my case, do not line up with studs in the ceiling. Mounting the screen would have been much easier had there been some kind of rail on top which would have allowed some variability in where along the screen you could mount to it. . 2) the metal loops on the screen which let you hang it are not a closed loop. What this meant was that it could only be hung with supports directly above the metal loops. When i tried to hang the screen from the ceiling with mounting points slightly further out than the screen, it created a perpendicular strain and caused the metal loops to bend to the point it almost let the screen fall. . 3) since the screen rolls up and is only kept flat when rolled out by it's own weight (no tension wires) there is a very slight curling along the edges of the screen and slight ripples in the fabric throughout the screen. In practice this is not noticeable 80-90% of the time; however, when projecting a moving scene with a lot of straight lines such as a panning shot of a city skyline or a car driving across the screen, these curves and ripples are very obvious as if you are looking at ripples in water. You can also see them directly if it is a very bright white screen. -Notice from M. Noguera, New Mexico

I love this screen. It's smooth and quiet, but is a bit slow, but nothing to complain about. When we're turning on our theater we just push the button to lower the screen first, then turn on the stereo and then projector and by the time everything is warmed up, the screen has already been down. I wish there was an option to choose which side of the screen had the plug, tho, as we have ours over the ledge of our stairs in our loft and when the screen is up the cable hangs in the middle, not near the wall. The wall is on the left side, opposite the plug side. But we're over it. Love it so far. It's been about 7 months.

Homegear-110-hd-motorized-16:9-projector-screen-w/-remote-control-(office-products) set picture

- V. Donna the shipment was very fast. I did not have a smell problem like others have mentioned. I am pairing this screen with a benq ht1075 and it looks great! . The electric function is great. Frankly, this was not my first choice of screen. I did not like the 4 inches sticking out on each side of the screen. But after my extensive research, this is the only really affordable electric screen on the market in 120". I do not regret the purchase. The motor is quiet, the remote control is convenient. I love it. When i put it down the first time, my grandson was exclaiming "woh, woh, woh". It does make a statement. My screen has some horizontal folding lines at the bottom, but it does not affect the viewing.

I really like this screen for the price, and while i don't have any other projector screen to compare it too, i have to believe it would stack up to it's compitition fairly well. The motors are quiet and raise and lower the screen in 38 seconds in each direction. The screen protrudes from the case about 1" when raised, but i believe that can be adjusted if it bothers you too much. The screen i received was pretty smooth with very few noticeable wrinkles. The qualitity of the screen material itself seems really good and reflects my benq projector image really well. The unit was packaged well; the screen was supported inside the box with several styrofoam braces along it's length and had plastic wrap around the outside of the box to keep out moisture. . There are a couple of things to be aware of if you purchase this screen. First, even with the good packaging, mine came with a small dent in the back middle of the case, and from reading other reviews it sounds like the chances of getting one of these without some sort of dent is unlikely. That's because the case is so long (118") and the metal is fairly thin. I believe it's prone to buckling towards the center if not handled properly. I was able to work out the dent for the most part, and it did not seem to affect the overall performance of the unit. Also, the ad for this screen states it has an ir control- it does not. It comes with an rf remote. This will only be a problem if you plan on using a universal remote like the harmony to automate the screen lowering and raising when you turn on/off your system. Last, the power and control cables are a bit long and can be hard to neatly route if you are going for that custom install look. I ended up shorting both (see pic) by taking the control box a part, cutting and re-soldering both cables, a total of seven individual wires inside both cables, so i could mount it to the ceiling behind the screen with out all the extra wire to deal with. It looks really nice, but of course voids the warranty, and you will need some basic soldering skills, but overall a very easy modification to make. . So, in the end this guy is a keeper for me. My goal all along was to put together a low budget, quality, home theater and this unit paired with the benq w1070 projector filled the bill nicely. . Update (4-16-15). I've seen several comments talking about the screen not retracting all the way into the case. Mine for example would stop about an inch from the top. I found out that there are indeed two adjustment knobs on the screen that will change the travel distance of the screen both in the up and down direction. The control knobs are located inside the slot where the screen rolls up (on the end where the power cord is located). If you look into the slot you will see two small controls, one white and one yellow. They actually have arrows pointing up and down next to each control. By experimenting a bit i discovered how they work. First you will need a small allen wrench that fits into the control. I believe that a special plastic flexible tool is made specifically for adjusting these controls, but i found the correct size allen or hex head wrench work too. . Now, say you want to adjust the screen so that it goes up into the housing more. Find the control knob with the up arrow and insert the allen wrench into it. Lower the screen a bit using the control box button, press the stop button and then raise it back up. When it stop turn the control, and as you do the screen will either raise or lower (depending on which way you turn the wrench) a small amount. I'm guessing about a quarter-turn of the control make the screen move about an inch or so. If you go too far the screen will bind up because when the bottom bar hits the casing. If this happen simple back off the adjustment just a bit. To adjust the down direction you do the same procedure using the other control adjustment. You simple lower the screen all the way using the control box and then make the fine adjustment by turning the control knob using the wrench. The most difficult part about doing this is trying to access the control adjustments while trying to keep from falling off the ladder. You will definitely need a flashlight or better yet one of those small led headlamps to keep both hands free. By spending some time making the adjustment my screen is fully retracting into the case just fine. I've added a picture of the controls below. . Update: 4/22/15. As i posted in my original review i was a little disapointed when i discovered that the projector remote was rf (radio frequency) controlled and not ir (infrared) controlled as stated in the ad. This is only because i use a harmony remote to easily control all my av gear with a simple click of the remote, and it only works with ir controlled device. Having an extra remote to simply raise and lower the screen really bugged me, since most all my home is automated to some degree and i also wanted the projector screen to be included in that category. I set out to do some research to determine if there was anyway i could convert the rf to ir on the projector. I quickly learned it's near impossible to find out anything about this screen. I couldn't even find the company homegear, much less any type of schematic or wiring diagram for the controller or remote. I did however, come across an article on an av forum where a fellow had posted a similar issue, not with a projector screen, but instead a tv lift. His article turned me on the velleman mk-161, a two channel (think up/down control) ir relay kit that could be used to open/close or pulse a set of switch relays. Since the homegear screen also has a manual control box that can be used to raise and lower the screen it seemed possible to wire in the mk-161 to the homegear control box to simulate actually pressing the keys when the relay closed to raise and lower the screen. I was able to easily open the control box, no tools required, it simply snaps together, and examine the actual switches on the board. Sure enough it was easy to solder four wires directly to the control switches on the homegear and then connect them to the relays on the mk-161. The next perfect thing was that the harmony already knew about the mk-161in it's database, so it was easy to add the codes to my remote and then add the device into my harmony activities so that everytime i selected "watch a movie" on the remote it would send the ir codes to the mk-161, which in turn would pulse the appropriate relay and manually make the switch in the homegear control box temporarily close- the same was if i had pressed the actual button on the control box. It works perfectly! i ended up putting the mk-161 in a project and mounting next to the homegear control box and you'd think it actually came with the screen. I've included a couple pics of the control box and how it looks mounted to the ceiling. Be aware the mk-161 is a kit, which means you get the parts, circuit board and instructions for putting it all together. You will need basic soldering skills to build this and some diy skills if you want to make it all look pretty once it's complete, but it is possible to convert the screen to use both rf and ir like many of the more expensive screens have. . Update: 5/3/16. . It's been over a year now and i just wanted to follow-up and let everyone know that the screen, projector and mk-161 control box is still working flawlessly. So far i've not had one problem with this setup and i couldn't be happier with the combination. The projector and screen are used on a semi-regular basis (at least 3-4 times a week) and it always works as expected. I can honestly say that i would recommend this projector screen.

The F.A.Q. for videosecu lcd dlp projector vaulted ceiling mount bracket with adjustable extension pole to 26.7 - black pj2b 1c9

This is a great product. I don't use the extension arms as i have to attached the unit to the face of a wall that drops from the ceiling about 8 inches. I do however wish that i could use the extension arm in a manner that would allow me to move the projector further back to increase the image size. In other words lay flat and slide forward and back. It also came with 4 longer slide bars to connect to the projector but only 2 shorter ones which made it so i had to have 2 of the bars attached jimmy in the 3rd and 4th. Other than that this worked awesome for me to complete my home theater project.

A number of questions have been asked here.

I had a terrible time putting this together. The directions are very poorly written and there are so many nuts and bolts. I bought this from the online store warehouse and was missing a few of the washers and bolts and the pieces that were there didn't seem to fit right anyway. However, once i put this puzzle together, it seems to be a really good projector mount. It feels very solid and it is adjustable in almost every possible way. It is easy to hang the mount and do the fine tuning later. The bar to adjust the height of the projector is an added bonus. If poor assembly directions frustrate you then i would look elsewhere. I think a little bit of hassle, for the price, was worth it.

This thing is great! it's extremely high quality and extremely adjustable. . When i got the relatively small package i was surprised at how heavy it was, because it's made of steel. This is of course mentioned in the product description but it's a fact not to be glossed over. Do you want plastic or aluminum holding up your expensive projector? . . It's mentioned in other reviews but it's important to note that this also works with 3 mounting hole type projectors. You just remove one of the arms and there's a center hole you can move the other arm too. If you have a smaller projector like i do (acer h5370bd) you have to reverse one of the extensions to make it fit but it works just fine. It also comes with multiple different sets of screws so regardless of what size mounting screws your projector takes, this will probably have it. . Because of how adjustable it is, you can probably expect to spend more time than you'd expect getting it just how you want it, but easily worth it when you get your projector pointing exactly where you want it. I had no use for the extension arm but i can tell you that it also looks extremely solid and i can see from looking at it that it can be easily adjusted. . The last thing i want to mention is the weight tolerance. It says it can handle 44lbs and i'd say that's conservative overall. Your failure points are going to be due to stress to the ceiling or the screws connected to the projector long before anything on the mounting bracket itself fails.

This is a quality little mount for the price. All metal construction and easy enough to figure out how to assemble for your specific projector. Worked for my vivitek 1186. The lag bolts that go into the ceiling strip easily, but luckily they also have hex heads, so you can use a ratchet if the screw gets messed up. My one complaint is the instructions have an error in one of the first steps. They only tell you to put a plastic spacer bushing on one side, which will not properly line up and allow smooth movement. They give you bushings for each side, so i installed so it was centered in the mount. But the instructions don't tell you to.

X. Meyer, Oregon

Unbeatable for the price. My biggest complaint is that it only had 2 short legs. I could still attach it to my projector, but i had to bring all three legs to the front (looks like a turkey footprint) would have worked, but i went ahead and cut down one of the long ones so i could get the mount over the center of gravity. For my setup and my projector, this gets the job done. It can be hard to adjust and take all the play out, so for a really nice setup i would spend a little more for one with easier adjustments. This one almost has too many adjustment options.

F. Watson, Arizona says

I ordered this, as suggested by online store's "usually ordered with" feature when purchasing the optoma hd141x. Unfortunately the screws included with this bracket aren't long enough to actually mount the bracket to the projector. The screw heads are small enough that the bracket from the projector fits right over, so it won't hold. However, when you use the included washers, the screws aren't long enough to engage the threads. I drove to home depot and spent $0. 75 for slightly longer screws and as it turns out the heads were large enough on these that i didn't need the washers though they should be used anyway. . One of the mounting brackets had to be reversed to fit. The optoma hd141x had 3 mount holes. This bracket is flexible and configurable enough to make it work but there are no instructions indicating that this might need to be done however anyone installing this type of equipment "should" be able to figure this out. . Also, if the joist you are mounting this bracket to runs across the room (horizontal to display surface) and not vertical (perpendicular to the display surface) then this bracket doesn't easily mate up to the optoma hd141x. I had to rotate the mount to be able to adjust as per the directions. No instructions were included for this situation. . In one sense the above, other than the mounting screws being too short, is a major plus for this product to be able to accommodate such a wide variety of projectors and being able to be configurable enough to allow for a variety of inflexible room setups i just feel there should just be a little more documentation to show people what how to account for this. Telling someone that you should make "this change" when "this situation" applies would reduce any additional frustration. . The only reason this product gets a 4-star is for the screw situation and wishing for a few more options being detailed in the documentation. Other than that this is an excellent mount. . I did not use the extension arm(s) but the documentation covered installation in both cases.

R. Donna, Virginia

With the low price i didn't know what to what to expect but i'm very happy that i purchased it. . Pros:. The variety of options mounting options you can do are incredible. There were screws for what seems like every time of projector on the planet. I find it easy to take down, i use this projector as an outdoor projector on occasion and in one section you can unscrew 2 screws and safely unmount the projector. I can then turn over the projector and unmount the whole assembly from the projector. In the matter of 2 minutes i have the projector removed from the mount. It's just as easy to get back up! . . Cons:. None for my overhead set up with a benq w1000+. The only debate i have is whether to keep all the extra parts or toss them. . Overall, . I highly recommend this mount for your projector, it is extremely adaptable and secure. I noticed others have said the paint my scratch but i have not had any issues at all and find it quite durable.

. Weber, Louisiana says

I managed mount the 4 arms on to a projector with 3 mountain holes. . I have to remove one arm, inverse one arm to be able to fit in. Took a while but can be done. . The center of this mountain bracket is not over the center of the mass of the projector, so i have to fasten quite some nuts to level the projector. . Overall the design is ok with enough tilt options for mountain my machine.

Z. Hayward, Blackpool

Was very pleasantly surprised at how substantial, well made, adjustable, and easy to assemble this mount is. I'm using it with an optima eh500 projector, and contrary to some other reviewers, i didn't have any trouble figuring out how to mount to the projector. I did have to remove one of the legs since this projector has only three mounting holes, but the remaining legs were more than equal to the task of security it. Easily adjustable, good wire management (even for the iogear wireless hdmi receiver i mounted to it. The value is arguably unbeatable; many of online store's recommended mounts for this projector were 5x the price and not as sturdy. This thing is very adaptable and should fit nearly any projector.

. Taylor, East Sussex says

For the price, this is by far the best projector mount i've seen. Way easier to adjust than a similarly-priced one i bought 10 years ago. Numerous adjustment points allow you to tweak it in every direction. Excellent! . If you don't need the extra length, it's also available without the down tube for a lower price:. Videosecu projector ceiling mount bracket fit flat and vaulted ceiling pj1b wu7

U. Wimbish, Nova Scotia

Overall, i have to give this mount 5 stars. It fit my projector as promised and securely holds it in place on my ceiling. It does exactly what it should do. There are far more good things than bad about this mount. The fact that it is universal is obviously a big plus. Mounting is quite simple. There is a main bracket that you mount directly to your ceiling, a second mount that goes on your pojector and an optional extension in case you need to lower the height of your projector from the ceiling (i didn't have a use for the extension). After you mount the each of the two bracktes, the mounts easily slide together for the final fit. . The mount is very sensitive to movements/adjustments. It took me about 30 minutes of tinkering to get the picture to fit the screen perfectly. Besides moving up/down and side to side, you can also control the tilt left and right. Getting everything just perfect does take a little patience. . The only downfall that i experience was actually mounting the bracket to my projector. I have an optoma hd20 and saw on online store where others who did used this successfully. After tinkering with the arm layout for about 20 minutes, i finally decided to use the internet to figure out what the coorrect configurartiuon should be. Once i did, i had no problems getting it to fit and the rest is history. . This is definitely a great buy and a solid product. Although i can only vouch for hd20 projectors, i'd certainly buy this product again!

T. Patton, Montana says

I wonder why others that have rated it bad have done so . It is truly a universal mount. May be the ones that have rated it bad because they don't know how to use it or are that creative to utilize the features that this mount offers. . I used it to mount viewsonic pjd5134 - yes, the three screw projector, which others have stated that this mount doesn't work with. It took a little bit to figure out how to connect/convert the four legs into working with three triangular shaped mount, however, when i figured it out, it worked like a charm. . This mount twists and turns at many different points giving you full flexibility to to mount and point in a direction of your choice. I love it so far. . Others have stated that it is a bit flimsy, but i take that flimsiness as its flexibility to rotate and turn . Hope my impression of it will last for a long time. So far it has done the job i bought it for . Compared to the mount made for viewsonic that is in market being sold for $150+, this mount does a great job for less than $25. Thanks online store for recommending this mount.

. Reed, Colorado

I bought to hold my mitsubishi 3d dlp projector. I was looking for a sturdy yet very affordable mount that would do the plain job of holding the projector without any bells and whistles. This one came through as promised by online store in two days through prime. I installed it in the media room and it looks very sturdy. I didnt use the extender but if it is used it can extend the range by another 2-3 feet. . The instruction manual was a bit lacking (hence only 4 stars). I'm usually good with assembling or installing the products on my own (ikea etc) but it took me a while to understand the instructions that were supplied with it. The screws and nuts needed more labeling on the plastic bags they arrived. While i was trying to check to see i got everything, some of pieces especially the washers seemed a lot alike alike and it was hard to differentiate them as they were all put in one small plastic bag. It would have been nice if they put them in separate bags and labelled them. I was able to sort them out later and figured they had some extra pieces in there. When i install a few things, i notice that some manufacturers provide the exact number of parts whereas some others throw in a few extra just in case. I dont mind it either way but it would be helpful to mention that in the manual. The part that attaches to the projector is very cleverly designed and it can be adjusted to any arrangement of mounting screws on the projector. The adjustment screws allow the projector to me moved in vertical, horizontal and tilting motions. It is pretty flexible making it truly a universal mount. . In any case, i was able to figure out the workings of the mount and then install it and attach my projector to it. Overall it is a very good product especially for the price. I'm not sure what else people will look for in a projector mount but this one seems to do what i need of it.

. Miller, City of Kingston upon Hull says

Great range of connections to fit a lot of projectors. I took off one star due to my particular set up. Most of the connecting mounts on my projector are on one side. Once i inverted the projector, i noticed there is a lack of option to level out my projector due to the unbalanced weight on one end. I should be able to rig up something and it is a very minor issue but it is noticeable on my screen.

B. Carrie, Maine says

I like it. I works well. The material is higher quality. It has two configuration options based on what you need and multiple length adjustments. My only complaint is the directions. They are not horrible but there are a few points where my eyebrows raised in confusion. Holding pieces in place during assembly is a bit tricky but nothing you cannot overcome.

H. Bethany, Cambridgeshire

When i came on board as a cio and entered the boardroom at my new hospital for the first time. I was baffled to see the projector laying on the desk with power and vga cables strung over peoples chairs and paperwork. This inexpensive fix made me shine, cleaned up the boardroom to where we were no longer embarrassed or inconvenienced by cables when hosting meetings. This coupled with a warpia stream hd is a winning combination for any it shop looking to renovate a meeting room, board room or conference room on a tight budget.

I. Zelda, Devon says

I wanted to echo want another reviewer confirmed, this mount will also work with the hd20 or any other projector with the same mount layout (a triangle arrangement of m3*3 hols). The mount really does come with everything you need except wood screws (it comes with concrete screws and such). . The mount consists of four little arms that can pivot about as well as expand in length to reach any area of your projector. Included are several screw sizes and washers (hd20 owners, you'll just use the small screws with washers). If you have three mounting points, you simply leave one of the arms unused. Last note for hd20 owners- as was already said, you'll need to pull out and reverse one of the sliding bits on one of the arms, but it is a 10 second fix. . The mount is made of good quality materials and has tight enough tolerances to keep everything steady, even when using the extension. It comes with an instruction sheet that is better than i expected. The english isn't perfect, but it is clear enough. . I would recommend you buy or borrow a stud-finder if you don't have one, or use drywall screws if your projector is light enough.

V. Anonymous, Hampshire

The bracket and hardware are robust and sturdy, but the directions are rife with content errors (as well as spelling and grammatical issues). There are plenty of parts in the box to make a good installation, but several key parts aren't described. Plan on being creative on mounting the bracket to the projector - the mounting holes on my optoma projector were too close together, so i used the leveling feet screws as my points of attachment. When i found that my ceiling joists ran 90-degrees to that in the diagram, i had to rework the bracket connection to the projector. I used the extension pole, and that requires using the threaded tube at the lower hole of the upper bracket to give the bolts something to hold onto. The diagram seems to indicate that the hole in the extension pole is threaded, but it isn't. Be patient, be creative, and you'll figure it out.

K. Paige, Idaho says

This makes the second videosecu lcd/dlp vaulted ceiling projector mount i have purchased, the first was lost during a remodel. I can say that the quality has not changed between 2013 and 2015, they are still just sturdy enough to pass my expectations for a projector mount. The instructions are straightforward and require tools as well as some technical knowhow, it took me approximately 45 minutes to hang my projector from moving the couch to putting it back. The actual mount is fairly versatile and fit my older model projector that is quite large surprisingly well. It did require a bit of finessing and extra hardware to get all four mounting points. Depending on your projector, you may only have three, lucky you. Once you mount it, the bracket itself is a pain and in my case required the help of another person to manipulate and tighten at the same time. Once its centered it holds relatively well and i have never had an issue with it moving. Will see how the new one holds up and change review if my projector comes crashing down in the middle of the night.

A. Jacqueline, Centre

I bought the viewsonic pjd7820hd projector and needed a way to mount it upside down. I saw this item and decided to give it a shot. Yes, the mount is universal but be prepared to channel your inner engineer. In order to get this thing to fit the mounting holes on my projector i had to remove one leg, and orient the remaining 3 in a bird claw pattern like this /. Aside from that, the rest of the assembly wasn't too bad but it definitely requires two people when mounting to the ceiling (one person to hold the projector in place, and another to put the screws in). . Once you have it installed you can adjust the tilt, and rotation among other things, which is great. Some of those things seemed harder to adjust than others, though i don't know if it's just the way i mounted it. Luckily i got it pretty spot on the first time so i didn't need much adjusting. . As other reviewers have stated the black finish can chip off easily, which is what happened to me during assembly. Now it has a few nicks here and there but you can't tell from a distance. . I'd say it's worth the buy if you have some patience and enjoyed playing with an erector set as a child.

N. McCarthy, West Virginia says

This mount works great for my benq ht1085st. My only issue is that it holds the projector about 6 inches from the ceiling. This isn't an issue for most people as 6 inches is not that far. However, i have a 140 inch screen so i need the projector to be closer to the ceiling. I will not deduct a star for this as it's properly described. However, it does tend to creep a tiny bit and i've had to tighten the screws a few times. However, i would buy it again for an application that doesn't require a low profile.

I build things, reverse engineer things, and am generally capable but was a little surprised by the install requirement of this projector mount. All in all, it was not bad at all (considering setup is a one-time thing) and especially for the price. I have a 3-hole mount so getting the balance was a little weird, but when i did it works perfectly. I immediately disregarded the instructions (that might as well have not come with because of how sparse they are) and it ended up taking me about 40min to balance, measure, and install the whole unit. It is very solid, and i have it extended all the way. I have high ceilings and this is a great size for me. Technically i could use about 5 more inches so i wouldn't have to keystone, but that's not really a concern of mine. . An added bonus i didn't think about while shopping was quick release. This only requires about 2 screws to come out for me to unmount the projector for alternate uses. I do backyard screenings of films and i found this feature to be extremely useful. Plus when i place it back up on the mount, i only have to do a horizontal level again which takes all in all, less than 5min. . I'd definitely recommend. The quirky things about it (mostly setup) are completely justified in the price and it's really only a one time thing to overcome.

Guys, this is truly a universal mount. I have two projectors that are quite different from each other and thanks to the full range of screws and options provided, this presented me no problems. I whole-hardheartedly recommend. It would probably be just a couple of odd, off-the-beaten path devices that it would not work for. 99% will be satisfied!

L. Smith, Peterborough

This holds our projector from the ceiling. Hasn't loosened up yet or anything. It also gives you the option of lifting or lowering the projector a bit which is nice. No ones walked into it so it doesn't hang super low either.

E. Arnett, Nevada says

Great versatile mount. Complexity is simply cuz its highly adaptable. Wanted to leave it here for anyone else buying it that the arms are not long enough to fit home cinema 3500. Just thought i will share. Other than that awesome mount for the price.

Disadvantage and Critical reviews

Said it would fit my projector, and it wasn t even close, i had to modify it to fit. Even though the fitment guide said it would. Construction wise it seems like good quality, the ceiling mount bracket is a little thin so the projector was a little hard to aim, just seems like the footprint should be a little bit bigger for it to be more rigid.

I purchased this to go with my optoma hd25. It was a pain in the arse to get this to work. The instructions are very limited in helping on this type of setup. I ended up getting creative on how to connect it to the optoma. Here's why. . Effectively i set it up for three arms as the instructions say to do, but when you do this for the optoma, you will find that the extension arms are far to long to connect all three mounting screws to the projector. What i did (this does secure unit 100% so that it doesn't move at all), but took my dumb arse 20 minutes to figure out, is simply take the s shaped connecting part out of the ends of the extension and face them into the middle of the bracket. Yes this is counter intuitive, but works. So again, for an optoma hd25 take out the fourth leg, and convert into three. Then flip the mounting s legs around so the bottom of the s points into the middle of the bracket and then screw into the unit. You will need a small screwdriver as you are now going in between the little gap on the extension bar, but can be done. This however isn't the reason i gave it 3 stars and not 4 or 5. . This bracket only receives 3 stars, because the adjustment aspect of this thing is super touchy. Even tightening a nut, bolt, or screw will cause this thing to go out of line. In other words to make my final adjustments correct once a screw was tightened correctly, i had to first over-adjust image on the screen, then tighten down the adjustment screws. Meaning i was guessing at first how far to the left i would have to shot the image so that once i tighten the left/right nut, it wouldn't bring the image back to the right to far. . The other issue was i wish the length of the unit could be shorter then the nine or eleven inches it has to be, i. E. Not either be three inches form the ceiling or eleven inches. I like being able to go from any length from 11 - 22, but what about 3-11? . . On the whole thought, if you can deal with the little issues of this thing, and your cheap like me, its worth a purchase, just know what your getting. It is solid, no doubt about that part, but has a few downsides since its a universal.

X. Carmen, Rotherham says

After about a year with this product i'm a bit less happy with it. The vertical and horizontal adjustment screws don't hold tight enough and the projector can walk a little bit over time, or when a cord is changed.

B. Bullock, New Mexico

This was my first ceiling mount of a projector. I mounted an epson brightlink projector. The instructions would say "make sure you have placed right. There was no clear picture to show what 'right' meant! i had to disassemble and reassemble many times to get it 'right'. I used the extension for my 9 foot basement ceiling installation. The instructions tell you to assemble the plate to the part that connects the plate to the assembly that holds the projector-as viewed in the picture on online store (assemble without the bar). It is not clear that if you are using the extension bar, you must not assemble the plate to the extension, you must wait until later on during the assembly process. All fasteners were available, but they did not come pre-sorted. They all came in one package. I had to take an egg carton and sort the items by size, shape and the materials they were made of, and verify the counts against the instructions. The instructions did not indicate that you would not be using all packed items; and sometimes it was a guessing game as to whether or not i had the right fastener because they were the same color, shape and sometime size-some washers were made of plastic, while others were made of metal. The screws holding the projector holder on to the cube-like connector body, were so loose, they were almost out of their holes. There is not a tool small enough to reach inside the tight space to tighten the screws so the projector could have fallen off of the bracket. I used my fingers to tighten the best i could. On the diagram, you'd see something like c/d/a. I figured out that it means: use fastener c or d or a; depending on which screw/fastener would fit the hole. Even after drilling ample pilot holes, the wood screws' phillips heads stripped, so i had to hand-ratchet them into place. There were three holes on the ceiling mounting plate, and the instructions only indicated to drill the pilot holes for the round holes. Instructions said nothing about using the keyhole. I'm still wondering if i was supposed to use the keyhole for something. . Now that i've done the install, the item is doing its job. Now that i have experience with this item, i might entertain the thought of purchasing another if i needed it, because of the prior experience and. If i had known better, i would have purchased one that was pre-assembled as much as possible-even if it were twice the cost. It took me three or four hours to disassemble/reassemble, and figure the whole process out. You need to ask yourself if it's worth the time and aggrivation.

. Reed, Kingston upon Thames says

I installed this for a pjd5533w. The projector has 3 mounting holes, which this mount it supposed to accommodate. The plate that attaches to the projector has 4 legs and should have a 5th hole so you can move one of the legs to a triangle position for 3 mounting holes. This did not have the 5th hole. I could have drilled it, but i didn't want to ruin anything in case i returned it. Next, all the adjustment screws and the pivots and such? imagine if you can only adjust them while the project is mounted to it. Hard to get to. Also, the moment you start tightening any screws, you are inadvertently adjusting the projector again. There's another plate that allows for more adjustment but you have about 1" of clearance in order to get a phillips head screwdriver up in there. Yeah, not going to happen. Things definitely would have been easier if i had used the extension bar, which i didn't need, but not by enough of a margin that i would give a star back. This is probably one of the worst mounts i could have bought. Feels like it was cheaply made and had burrs and spikes of metal shavings on it that were quite unpleasant to handle. I won't be returning it because i do not want to pull this mount down again and i do not want to hassle with another mount. If i move and i have to take this down, i will not be putting it up elsewhere. I will buy a new one and sell this locally for cheap since obviously there are others who have enjoyed it.

If you like jerry rigging products that were sold as a package with your projector, than this is the product for you. I purchased this product as a package deal with my optoma dw339 projector. The only way to make this product actually work, was by having to take the legs off and re-rig them to work in a way that they were not meant to work. I. E. Change the direction of the leg movement. Now i have a ceiling mount that will not adjust properly. . The hardware that came with it to secure the product to the ceiling was a joke. The plastic anchors did not hold the screws when installed. At first we thought maybe the hole was too big, so we made a smaller hole, same story, no grab at all on the screws. Ended up going to the hardware store and purchased buterfly anchors which secured it firmly. . Optoma users, stay away from this product. I will be replacing this anchor system a. S. A. P!

U. Arnett, California says

This is a decent projector mount with lots of adjustments that can be made. It can swing forward and swivel to the side as well as adjust flush to the ceiling. The main issue i had is that even when everything is fully tightened, it still has some wiggle room. Aligning a projector takes a lot of time and patients in the first place and every few weeks i find it off of the screen and i need to adjust it. When people are walking around in the room above it, it bounces slightly and can move off of the screen by about an inch to either side. This may not bother some people but when you spend an hour or so aligning it perfectly to a screen and then it doesn't stay that way, it is pretty frustrating

R. Beale, Nordrhein-Westfalen

I bought this universal mount for it's cheap price and extension length. As i was mounting an ariustek xrt-2700 led projector to a second story ceiling (about 18' high) and needed as much drop as possible. Unfortunately this mount was not complete with the hardware needed to mount the projector. This seems to be a theme with chinese made universal products! to finish the marriage between america and china i used the original "leg" mounts that the projector came with (thanks to ariustek) and found in my handy spare hardware bin the 2 additional spacers needed. If i wasn't mechanically inclined and happened to have extra hardware this project would have required a trip to the hardware store for (2) 1 dollar spacers. I wouldn't recommend this particular mount if you have 1. Little time 2. Little mechanical inclination 3. Little patience or just had enough of china crap! otherwise it works just fine after a measure of american ingenuity!

N. Patricia, Rochdale says

The two most important aspects of a projector mount are (1) ease of use and (2) ability to center the picture on the screen, including left/right and up/down. This mount is dreadful on both of those. . In order to get the projector on the mount, or take it down, you have to use tools (allen wrench or screwdriver) while obviously working over your head. And the "aiming" is terrible. The projector is inevitably off-balanced, and you have to balance it with one hand while using an allen wrench with the other on four separate screws. Compound that with the fact that you have to over compensate for the float in one direction and then, after you let go of the projector, see how much it slides, and i know exactly what rating i give this projector: i give it the finger.

. Jackson, Wyoming

I would not recommend this mount to anyone. The metal is flimsy, when you tighten the bolts down, you have to do so till the metal bends just to get the mount to stay in position. I am using an optoma hd141x on a vaulted ceiling. I will be buying another mount asap and wasted $25 on this. . Cons:. -hard to adjust. -metal bends easy. -does not work well with vaulted ceiling. -only one bolt at top for vaulted adjustment, which cant hold the wait without losing position. -hardware is limited, one short arm included, the rest were 4" inches. -bracket covers screws, so once bolted to projector, cant adjust unless taking apart. . Pros:. Cheap

L. Elida, Stockport says

For the record: you can make this mount work on the viewsonic pjd7820hd projector. But it will take serious creativity as this is a 4 pronged mount & this projector requires a 3 pronged mount. . The hardware is solid and fit well in the ceiling once the directions were deciphered. . Sorry for coming across negative but online store recommended this mount with my projector and felt misled along with adding serious amount of time to my original install plan. Hope this helps.

Q. Anonymous, Wolverhampton

It does the job. I'm using it with a benq w1070. It is more than sufficient for such a light load. For $23 it is a good value. . But. The whole time i was installing and adjusting it, i was cursing the "designer" of this mount. It is clunky. It is obtuse. It is maddening. Every adjustment requires an allen key, which does not make fine tuning adjustments easy. The cable management / concealment is made difficult by lack of a cutout where the vertical support arm meets the ceiling mount. . If you can spend more, i suggest you do so.

C. Juliana, South Australia says

Well, this was suggested by someone else that had the optoma 131xe. I had read that all these "universal style" mounts had to be modified or augmented a little to get it to work with the 131xe. It took me 20 minutes to figure out how to align the three holes. I would like to think that i am fairly intelligent but this thing had me scratching my head for a bit. I ended up taking out the adjustment arms and flipping them around and cutting one of the arms a little so i could center it up a little better. I don't really like how the arms are tightened on the projector but that's only partially because of this mount. I did like the hook where you could get the mounting done on the ceiling first and then take your time on the floor with the other part. The adjustment was a pain in the butt. It's one of those deals where you just try to get it as close as you can, tighten it all up and then nudge it till it's right. Not sure if this is gonna stay where i adjusted it because the weight of the projector is not fully centered. It can adjust many different ways which is neat but it feels like it is barely getting the job done. The adjustment seems a little sloppy but as long as it stays, i'll be happy.

W. Shayna, Surrey

Bought this for a lg electronics pf1000u projector since it was universal didn't think there would be an issue. However it looks like the pf1000u is a "triangle" shape for the holes. This does come with a extra piece to go between the brackets you see in the picture however the hole is much too short and the extensions too long to make it work. . Maybe better for other projectors just doesn't work with the lg electronics pf1000u.

T. Valencia, Saarland says

Purchased for my epson 8350, even after reading the warnings from other reviews. It's a universal and very customizable mount, so i was expecting lots of parts and pieces. I'm mechanically inclined and can assemble most things without instructions or with poor instructions, so assembly wasn't too bad for me. However, assembly could be a very confusing and tedious process for the novice, so consider yourselves warned. . Now that it's installed, it's doing its job holding the projector to the ceiling at a steady position, when you don't touch the projector, that is. The weakness of the product comes from its advertized strength-universality. It is so adjustable and has so many parts that it's impossible to get everything tightened up solid. Even with torquing the screws to the point right before stripping, it still has wiggle in it. This is not to say it's not securely holding the projector on the wall, it's just that it shakes if you touch it. Makes using the manual adjustments on the projector a bit tricky. Wouldn't be as big of an issue if your projector has electronic adjustment. . All in all, not too bad for under $40, but prepare yourself to spend some time installing it, probably double what you think it will take. If you are considering this mount, go ahead and get the extension arms available from the manufacturer on online store when you order this. They are very cheap and will help you avoid having to get "creative" during installation. This is especially true if you have an epson you are looking to mount.

P. Candy, Indiana

I hate this projector mount more than any other product i have ever purchased. It is the worst. Ugly, hard to assemble, doesn't stay put. It's just awful.

. Sherry, Milton Keynes says

I have a optoma hd142x that i mounted with this mount. The ceiling anchors that came with this mount do not hold the weight of the mount with extension and the projector. While mounting it to the ceiling with stronger anchors from the hardware store, i noticed bolts holding together the assembly as packaged were loose and i had wasted time trying to use the adjustments. The adjustments have to be loosened and tightened on both sides of the mount which makes adjustment clunky. I think the cost of the mount makes sense, which is why i rated at two stars, but ultimately for as much of a luxury as a home entertainment projector is i wish i had gone with a better mount.

K. McCarthy, Wisconsin

This came as recommended from others who bought the same projector which was the optoma 141. Hanging it from my ceiling and says 3 or 4 screw mount universal hooray! not true. I have a 3 screw triangle and it wouldn't work. Re - read instructions and oh, so simple just take out two of the top legs (there's four 1 in each corner of the square bracket). Now put 1 of the legs u rook out in the center hole on adapter. That hole does not exsist. Also they provide lag bolts and anchors for brick install but tell u to get your own wood screws for joint install. Screws to attach mount to projector did not work or fit. Might work for some projectors, def. Not mine. Overall missing wood screws, missing adapter plate with 5 holes, missing screws that fit into projector. Boo

H. Audrey, North Carolina says

The design and features seem really nice on the outset. Telescoping extension pole, fits any projector, under $40. However, my experience with this particular mount was one of frustration. Since it is "universal" the directions themselves are not very detailed most being one sentence long, and i did not find them to be much help. . After considerable work i was able to get the extension pole put together, and through some creative use of the mounting bracket included actually mounted to my projector (not recommended for an optoma projector with three mounting holes). Before i mounted it to the ceiling i checked its position, only to find out that the 15 degrees allowed for the roll was not nearly enough. After much work and little success i have decided to purchase a projector mount designed specifically for my projector and that has a much better degree of roll. Hopefully others will have a positive experience with this mount.

J. Sandra, British Columbia

This cealing mount was difficult to set and keep even, but it does work once you get it just right. But if you bump it all, you will have to reset it. I'll keep this one but i wont buy another one like it.

. Hurst, Western Australia says

This mount is alright. I mean, it's held my projector to the ceiling for about a month now with no issues. It's not a very good fit, though, and i was only able to use two of the four "arms" to anchor into the projector. But it hasn't fallen yet, so that's good. Assembly was confusing, and took a while. The included instructions weren't much help, as they're not aware of what specific projector any given user may be attaching. Having said all that, i like it alright. It does what it's supposed to, and so i'm satisfied with it.

S. Bertie, Hackney

This thing was really overwhelming at first. The instructions are pretty vague. Nothing is actually marked (as it states it is in the instructions). . I basically sat with it like a puzzle for about 30 minutes before figuring out the initial configuration of things. . You'll need a second person to help actually put it in the ceiling. Unless you're some kind of wizard that's installed stuff like this a million times before. . Once you get past the initial phase of wanting to kill yourself for signing up for this project it becomes easier and there is clarity and success on the other side. . I have nothing to compare it to, i managed to configure it to do exactly what i needed it to do. . I don't care what anyone says, if you're a normal person that doesn't install mounts as part of your pay check then it's going to be a process. A doable process though.

. Wade, Centre says

Everything was fine until i realized that the nut-bolt that ties the ceiling mount and the rod below was absent. The nut didn't even have treading. Went to home depot to find a similar nut-bolt. Bought one, didn't fit. Then went to sears hardware, the guy helped me with one that finally did fit. It gets really frustrating when major parts like this is missing. This was really a show stopper for us.

O. Campbell, Bath and North East Somerset

The title of the review says it all. Generally i am good at diy stuff. But this projector assembly took so much time, still not fully assembled because of the incorrect hardware. I made a mistake of not reading all the 1 star reviews before buying it. Lesson learnt. There are no correct screws to attach the extension bracket to the projector assembly. That just wasted so much of my time because i kept trying different things - making the hole bigger, trying different screws that i have. For now i am using the hex wrench to hang it until i get the correct screws. The inner rod of the extension rod shows one hole in the pictures here, but there are two holes to the one i got. And the ceiling mount plate is designed just to work with studs running in parallel to the direction of projection. My studs run perpendicular to my direction of production. So now i have these rotate and tilt options that are useless. Whoever designed this must be having a pea-size brain, can't they just put another plate in the other direction. And regarding instructions, i think i would be better off if i didn't read those instructions. I am sending this back. Now after going through all that pain of trying to assemble it, i have to disassemble and pack it to return it. Waste of time and money.

G. Florence, New Jersey says

At first this seemed like a fantastic product, all of the mounting hardware was included. It has lots of points to adjust all the angles so it would be perfect. After some fiddling i was able to get it to fit my optima hd 20. Now fast forward a month. The weight of the projector started causing it to tilt so i went back to adjust the mount to give a perfect picture. I loosened one of the screws, adjusted the angle, and went to tighten the screw. I kept tightening and tightening the crew but no pressure was being applied to the bracket to hold it in place. I take the screw out only to find that it's completely stripped. Fortunately i had another screw available i was able to replace it with. Of course, a month later, i needed to retighten this one only to have it strip on me again. . If you have a light weight are mounting the projector ner its center of gravity, then this will probably work. If you're mounting anything heavy then get a better quality mount.

E. Zelda, West Sussex

I bought this mount because it advertised being able to fit either the 3-hole or 4-hole mount system. This was not the case! in order to use the 3-hole system, the instructions say to take one of the arms off and move one other arm from the corner hole to the center hole. Only there is no center hole on this product! you can see it in the pictures that they have on the product page. If you look at the first two pictures of the black mount, you only see 4 holes. But it you look at the last two pictures of the silver mount, you will see five holes. The product i received only had 4 holes and this made it very difficult to place the arms in a way that would support the projector that only had 3 holes. . If you have a 4-hole mount system, this mount should be perfect for you and i would've given 5 stars! :)

F. Cortney, Missouri says

If your vaulted ceiling happens to slope in the wrong direction, you cannot aim the projector. It points the wrong way and you cannot change it because it's not a square tube, it's rectangle. Other than that it seems fairly well built.

A. Betty, Shropshire

I purchased the viewsonic pjd7820hd projector on online store. This was recommended for bundling with this particular projector, so i decided i'll go ahead and take it. Afterall, the price was about 2/3rds that of the one viewsonic makes specifically for its projector, plus i wasn't going to have to pay for shipping. Given the low cost, i assumed the risk of how well this universal mount would work on the projector i bought. It turns out, the viewsonic projector uses only 3 mounting holes (you'll notice this mount is utilized for 4 holes, but it's not a problem to remove one of the arms), and they are spaced relatively close to each other. So close, in fact, that this "universal" mount could not be adjusted down far enough. It took plenty of attempts (and way too much time) to adjust for this weird positioning, and finally it was determined that i needed to take out one of the arms and put it in backwards. This looks ugly and overall tacky, but in the end i figure it won't be too noticeable. Also, i went with a flush mount after not feeling comfortable with the extension pole. It seemed that the pole was holding on to the projector using only tension as opposed to having a guard to protect against the tension loosening and the projector sliding right out and crashing onto the floor. Perhaps the tension is good enough, but i didn't want to risk it. It turns out, i liked the flush mount anyways, so in the end, i have no complaints. . So overall, the question becomes how much is your time and effort worth? in hindsight, i would have ponied up the extra $20 and gone with the one designed specifically for my projector. It would have looked nicer, and would have been much easier to install. I am rating this overall as a 3 out of 5, but if i were to break up the ratings into categories, i would rate as follows:. . Overall: 3. Price: 5. Quality: 3. 5. Ease of installation: 2

Do not recommend for a optoma hd141x. The supplied screws that fit the threads of the projector were too short. I should have just stopped and returned the item, but i didn't want to wait till a turn around. I went to the ace and spent another $3 on the correct hardware. Then i noticed that the adjustable arms are too long. I spent about two hours last night and i still don't have anything mounted. I'm going to attempt to turn the tabs around, but i might end up having to cut the arms down too. . Aside from it not being a good fit for my projector, the whole thing feels awkward and clumsy and the supplied hardware feels cheap. If i could do a do-over, i'd choose another product. I'll probably just end up making this one work one way or another because i don't want to wait to mount my projector.

Y. Theola, East Riding of Yorkshire

I'm one of those guys who like to get all the nuts and bolts and washers in the correct place. If you follow the instructions step-by-step you won't get that result because they leave things out that are on the back side of the image. It's fairly obvious they belong, but not always as clear because the diagram and numbers are written so small. My projector has three holes. This mount was able to adjust, though it wouldn't really appear to be that it's necessarily designed to. It came out a little funky looking and off-center. It works though, it looks fine and it feels sturdy. Adjustments aren't too difficult. For the price, compared with others i've seen, i'm not disappointed in the end-result. Besides the instructions, the washers can be incredibly difficult to place, assuming you want them in the correct location. You might want to use tweezers to hold the nylon washers in place during assembly. You will know what i mean when you get there. I'm rating this only three stars due to that difficulty, the poor instructions and the fact that even though it works, it doesn't go together nearly as well with three holes as it would with four.

I. Melissa, Kentucky says

Junk. Brackets don't fit holes for optoma gt1080 projector. Had to cut with hacksaw. Still fits dodgy. Too many adjustments to tighten. Poor design. Don't buy. Spend the extra and get something half decent.
