Review for version outdoor amplified digital

Price was $34.99. I to decided to cut the cable. The first antenna was a flat digital deal that quickly disappointed the second has mounted outside and had 70% efficiency . This was going to be my last effort. It was relatively easy install and we are pulling 21 channels with 6 1080i . I am 28 miles from the transceiver park and i have not used the rotating assembly . I incorporated maybe 75' of the cable companies coax used a coupler and the provided cable . The mount assembly i bolted the bracket to a piece of 22 ga stainless and mounted to a fixture. My frustration with lesser antenna's irritated the heck out of me, problem solved.

Preface

5 stars for functionality. 4 stars for build quality of remote and control box. 3 stars for the manual. . I am using this indoors . I live in an apt. Building so i cannot set it up outdoors, but so far, even in it's temporary spot just leaning up against a wall, it's picking up all of the channels that i want except one, and that one is 30 miles away and facing the opposite side of the building, so i was hoping it would get it, but i'm not surprised it doesn't. . The move to digital broadcasts have ruined a lot of peoples' reception, because, as you may recall, with analog, you could watch a station that was slightly fuzzy and it would still be very good and enjoyable. Some of us routinely watched very fuzzy stations because we had no other choice. Sometimes so bad that it was basically audio with some fuzzy blobs moving around on the screen! lol. . But now with digital, if the signal isn't strong enough to be perfect, then you get nothing at all. In my case that means no cbs. But, once i get this setup properly, i'm hoping i might be able to get it. So i am happy with the reception. . Now the remote and control box, as you might expect, are super light weight and 'toy like' and really show that the company put as little money into the casings as possible. Of course, as long as it keeps working, that's the main thing, but i generally prefer some weight and ruggedness to the housings for electronics. . The manual is basically your typical 'overseas manual'. It's not awful, but certainly could be better, including using larger print and having things more defined and explained a better, but you can get through it. . Now a couple of tips for people. . * don't forget that there are two versions of this, one with a metal pole and one without. Unless you're the hardware/builder/tinkerer type and want to rig up your own pole, then you want to get the one with the pole for an extra $10. . * in case you are wondering when you are setting it up, the control box provides power to the motor through the main antenna cable. When i was first putting it together, i wondered if i was missing a separate power cord, but no, it uses the antenna cable for that. . * i contacted support because i thought my remote and control box were defective, because the remote has a left and right button on it, but it will seem to turn in random directions each time you press the same button. Support told me that this was by design to prevent line tangles, because if you turn it too far one way then the cord will just wrap around the pole and hang up, so again, this is by design. . * it comes with a mounting bracket for mounting outside, but i'm going to mount mine to a 1x10 or 1x12 for in house use, with the board sitting flat on the floor. Viewtv 2018 version outdoor amplified digital hdtv antenna - 150 mile range - motorized 360 rotation - 40ft coax cable - wireless remote control - uhf/vhf 4k 1080p channels Review (wa 2608 antenna)

Very solid antenna. It seems to have improved the reception problems i was having. Be aware that when you open the box, the installation might look a little daunting, but it is very simple for anyone who can use a screwdriver. Documentation isn't particularly clear, but of course it isn't very complicated to figure out. . I easily mounted mine on a 3/4" galvanized pipe screwed into a floor flange mounted to a crossbeam in my garage. Cheaper than buying an official mounting pole. -. Lawrence

PROS
  • I installed one of these on 25 ft poll on south end of house and another on a 32 ft poll on north end of house. Both are easily moved by the slightest wind, which requires too much reconfiguring to get channels. Neither picks up channel 6 from portland (18 miles as the bird flies) but do pick up all the other portland channels (must be a poor engineering issue? ). There is no feature to lock the rotator in place; frustrating at best. . The reception, once beamed correctly, is terrific on all 43 local channels. . One other desire is for some type of feedback indicator telling us within the house where the antenna is actually pointing (direction) so we don't have to go outside in the weather to visually see which way it is pointing.
  • I'll start with i ordered this in friday afternoon thinking this would be next weekends project. It arrived sunday (easter) morning! impressed! i'll second that with this was way easier to setup then it looks or what i expected. This isn't like a satellite dish where a mm the wrong direction kills your signal. Acording to yourfreedtv. Com my zip code needs to be at 36degrees nw. I pointed somewhere near there acording to my iphone compass app. Screwed this in the cable that was hooked to my satellite dish and boom 51 channels in high def! nba playoffs whaat! . . Directv $90 a month plus thousands in screw you fees. This antenna $35. Telling directv to go f themselves thanks to a $35 antenna and a hours labor. Priceless. . Best $35 ever speny
CONS
  • Don't waste your money on this. I have a $8 set top antenna in my kitchen tv, it gets 15 channels. I bought this, mounted it on my roof, ran all the cables, etc. It gets 8 channels. It does not rotate as it is supposed to. It's very cheaply made. I'm sure it'll be laying in the yard after the first strong wind. They don't even give you an inline surge arrest fitting, so you can fry your $1500 tv if you don't know to add one. It might get more channels, if the rotate feature worked, but it does not.
  • I cannot understand why this is so highly rated. Claims of being 150 mile range is bogus. I cannot pull in a station that is 65 miles away. The remote control that allows you to rotate the antenna has two buttons. You'd think that one turns it one direction and the other button turns it opposite. Nah. They both spin the antenna whatever direction they feel like turning at that moment. Makes aiming an antenna frustrating. This is probably a fine antenna for $50 but the claims of 150 mile range are absurd. Returned for refund.
  • Ordered this product on two occasions, the first one worked fine for a while and then the power unit had to be tilted just right to get a signal (like something loose inside). I later ordered a second unit just for the power box and after using it only a couple months or less it started doing the same thing. Had to move wires and tilt box just right to get it to work today i get home and twist, turn, tilt, tap, . And nothing! moral, if you buy this product get the extended warranty! i haven't even taken the newer unit out of the box as all i needed was the power box and now neither seem to work. Oh well, maybe my online store prime feature has some of the "free" t. V. Shows i am trying to watch lol. . Now back to the drawing board for something else unless someone tells me there is a high quality antenna booster that may take the place of the unit that comes with the antenna!

The day i got this antenna i told my wife lets save our time and return it as i don't think it is any good. She said lets put it together and take it out to the front yard and see if anything comes in. So that we did. Boy was i wrong. She did the scan inside the house while i held it pointing it toward portland oregon. The window was open and i heard her say! it says we have 17 stations. We get 13 of the 17. After the scan she said it works. She came outside to hold the antenna i went in to see how the picture was. I could not believe my eyes. It came in as clear as if we were on dish or in portland. I would say it is about 70 miles to portland. To top things off we are in a valley. We never could pick up anything with an outside antenna. I give it a 5

Click to see NoticeViewtv Version Outdoor Amplified Digital (wa 2608 antenna)"I live about 40 air miles from tampa and about 60 air miles from orlando. Counting the digital sub channels, i'm receiving 70 channels. I installed it myself, on one end of my house, so that it rotates freely just above the peak of my roof. The only negative with my installation, is that it is impossible to see, what direction the antenna is pointing, from where my television set is located. The antenna would be perfect if it had a direction indicator in the control box. I'm sure that could be added, and for not much more than an additional $10. . Update: this antenna just survived hurricane irma! we had gusts of up to 100 mph. It worked the entire time all though the storm. Apparently, the antenna windmilled during the high winds and only needed to be re-aimed slightly to put it back on target. After a hands on inspection, i just re-tightened the knobs. Good to go!"

(0) Question: Where can i get an additional controler box and remote if my neighbor wants to use the same antenn

(1) Question: How far from antenna will the box turn the rotor? i am in a 48 foot motor home the antenna is in the rear the tv is in the front.

(2) Question: Does it need to be pluged in to work? i do not care about moving

Drill and then secure the lag bolts into the pilot holes. 7. If necessary, you may adjust the direction of the mast by loosening the two lateral nuts on the mounting base of the j-pole.

Viewtv At 300 Converter Recording Composite (Consumer Electronics) FAQ.

For the money it is worth it. I am using this to record news when i get busy and one of the sources to my home theater receiver. I think the hdmi is a better picture then the analog out. I had a spare 500gig laptop laying around and purchased a usb case, formatted it for fat32, and plug it into the front usb port, easy. The recording quality is excellent. The record and playback of shows is a little confusing so read the book, it works and i am pleased with the results. I wish you could record and watch another station at the same time but i couldn't find any in this price range, they jump to $150-$300+ and it just wasn't worth it to me. -Notice from R. I have a camp in the mountains of west virginia. I had called direct tv to come out and install a dish. The guy got out of the truck and said sorry you won't get service. He didn't even try for a signal. There are 5k sites here and several people have a dish. So i got mad and got smart. I did a lot of research and after reading reviews decided to try this antenna. First try without even aiming it, just setting it on my patio furniture i got 11 channels. I didn't realize i would need a pole to mount it to and get it higher but that can wait until next weekend. Every channel is crystal clear. I can't wait to see how many more i can get when it's mounted.

A number of questions have been asked here.

Wow, was i surprised. I live way out and i pretty much figured that this would do nothing but i figured for the price i had to try it. With a rabbit ears style indoor antenna i got 3 channels. I tried the rabbit ears in the attic and got the same; no improvement. So i bought this figuring that it could do no worse so why not try it. Hooked it up indoors in my attic and immediately i managed to get 13 channels! i am writing this right after that test. I have not even had a chance to try different directions or any other adjustments yet. . If i could get that kind of improvement without even fine tuning it i'm hoping i can do even better once i have a chance to really play with it. I'm happy.

Other than not knowing which way it would rotate when you pushed the remote buttons, it was a really good antenna and picked up a lot of channels in my rural area where as other antennas would not pick up any channels. But. This was purchased on september 29th, 2016 and as of today july 28th, 2017 it has quit working, it will no longer rotate or pick up any channels. We could deal with the no longer rotating because we did not need to rotate it as we found the direction to point it to get all the channels and just left it there. But obviously the amplifier is broken also because it will not pick up any channels anymore. I am very upset because this is not even a year old! this should have a year warranty, i don't know. I emailed the sellar super deal and am waiting for a reply from them. Maybe i just got a lemon. Like i said it was a very good antenna till it stopped working and i would like and need a replacement amplifier box and rotor motor for this antenna. At the moment we have no tv and are not happy at all. . Update. I changed rating to 5 star because of the awesome customer service in replacing this antenna quickly & with no hassles. This antenna has a 1yr warranty and i received a new one quickly and it works awesome! i live out in the country, in hilly terrain, far from tv stations and with this antenna i can receive all 11 available channels in my area. Abc nbc cbs fox comet ion pbs etc. :) i am very happy with this antenna :( . Without this antenna i can not get any channels :(

I mounted this antenna outside on a 20ft. Pole and it works famously! i live in a remote area with poor cell phone signals so imagine the tv. I would recommend this product above and beyond those square flat types anytime. I had a major storm and was able to rotate the antenna with no loss of signal. I consider this purchase as money well spent, even the additional pole for outside i had to pick up at the hardware store.

B. Anonymous, Staffordshire

I am getting about 50 channels without paying for cable. Most are unimportant to me (shopping, old tv shoes, latino, foreign, etc. ) but the clarify is great. My home was built with pre existing coax so i just hooked it up and everything worked. The original had a faulty amplifier. I called viewtv'a customer service and i had a replacement within 3 days. They did not fight me either. Great experience and product works great. Also i read a lot of reviews before deciding on this one. I live 53 miles away from my tv provider i am receiving from and it's great. Some channels have static some of the time, others go completely out, some a mix. But that's is not the antenna, it is the reception i am receiving. Just want to be clear that i get clear reception on all local channels from 53 miles away.

I. Marguerite, North Somerset says

At first sight this antenna looks like a toy. All plastic and cheap aluminum parts. Truly seamed to me that i had been taken to the cleaners. Then i installed it. . At 25' and sitting on a bar stool (in my attic window) i received 25 channels. Once i permanently installed on my roof at approx 35' - 40' i was getting 28 - 38 channels. This is remarkable since i live in 44663, and according to all of the over the air websites that inform you of channels available in your area. All told me i would be lucky to get a few and the majority would be 55-65 miles away and a hope and a prayer for fox. . Pro's. It works. Pulls in channels from 70 miles as if i am on top of them. Crystal clear programing. Fox - cbs - abc - nbc as well as many others. Say yes to playoff games. :). Small footprint. Only approx 2' x 2'. Easy install. . Con's. Must have the "black box" turned on to work at all. This sends power to the antenna through the coax and seems to be a must for any reception. It is directional. Must be pointed in the direction of the signal. In my case, this means i am due north for some and north east for others. Cannot rotate antenna while looking at it. Remote only works pointed at the "black box" and from there (by the tv), you are likely not able to see the antenna. (i used iphone-facetime with my son to watch the antenna move as i pressed the remote to move into the correct position). Each movement requires a new scan for auto programing into tv

Z. Beale, Lancashire

Wow- 70 channels just like that. I received an indoor antenna from a friend who was moving and thought it would work at their home and it didn't. The antenna was one that was like a flat piece of plastic you place on a window pane or the wall. It almost resembled a place mat. I received no channels with it but could see some that were not there before but the were so snowy you couldn't watch anything. When they did come in, they froze and skipped so much i tossed it. So, i ordered this antenna. After a short assembly and installation i turned my tv on hoping to receive just a few channels. To my surprise, the tv started adding channels. It took so long i ended up going to eat and when i came home, boy was i surprised. 70 channels where i had none a couple of hours before. The channels come in just like they do on the tvs i have cable. Now there are a lot of stations i wont watch but it got me all the major networks and many locals that i didn't expect. There were even some cable channels that i didn't realize broadcast a signal to the public. I plan on purchasing more of these in the near future so all my tvs have them just in case the cable goes out in the future.

V. Nielsen, Minnesota says

I've been using an old style 6ft x 6ft triangle antenna in my garage attic for 24 years. I have had a tivo ota dvr'ing the signals for a few years now. In recent years the fox signal, and sometimes the nbc signal would get weak and start to pixelate. I've tried 6 amps and pre-amps. Even 2 amps in-line. Even major brand name cm. And under some weather conditions those 2 would still pixelate (sometimes on clear days ! ). My tivo channel strength was at 50 tonight with the old antenna, and luckily green bar. I placed this new style antenna system right next to the old one in the attic, and wired it's box output directly to the tivo ota (with an f-coupler in one spot) and now i'm getting 74 on fox ! i've never hit that high ! also the other normally stronger stations are not over driven, they right around their typical happy strength on the meter. I am 21/22 miles from all the towers in milwaukee. I am guessing the funky uhf elements on this antenna are doing a great job at getting fox's signal. It rotates fine, does change direction sometimes not based on what you want. I'm guessing it's a cheap ac motor that goes whichever way the ac wave is when you hit the remote. I am guessing it would flap around a bit in the wind outside since the motor doesn't hold it solidly in place, so i would recommend keeping it in an attic like i do. At this price, it was the best thing i could buy on earth to solve my signal strength issues (so far. Hopefully keeps working this well over all weather conditions). Daughter is happy for agt live show now tomorrow !

We cut the cord. This antenna works well. We live 30-40 miles away from the broadcast stations in our area. The picture quality is excellent. There is of course some interference at times. Not excessive. Watching much less tv now. That was the goal. . My first review (above) was a little hasty. The more i use and learn about this product the better it gets. Just by using an rg59 cord on the tv1 connection on the amplifier instead of the supplied tv2 connection i picked up 14 more cannels and get much better reception. I set the antenna in my attic. It works well. I got a nice e-mail from the seller with tips on using the antenna. I asked a question and got a reply in less than 12 hours. Not bad. I suggest that you go to different websites for tips on improving the antenna signals and try some different things. My next step will be trying different directions to see if i get better reception and more channels. I am so far pleased with this product and will. Update this review as i learn more. . I moved the antenna outside. The attic just didn't work. It's about 17' above ground. I'm about 25 miles from the broadcast towers and we get 21 channels (which is plenty imho). We get great reception. We're running through about 60 feet of rg6 coaxial cable with one in-line straight connector. The interference is gone (so far). This antenna worked for us after trying different locations. I recommend putting outside for best results. Hope this helps.

So far review. . First i got my antenna in record time - one day. Not bad. . This is an incredibly well designed package. I've been working with ham antennas along with military antennas for years. This product exhibits some great enginuity. The idea of using plastic as a structural form, then lining it with lighter metals is genius. You could make any profile in this manner at a very low cost. . It went together precisely. Everything slide together well, all holes were predrilled with precision for good power gain on radio signals. . So far great, tomorrow, we get it up on the roof and will tell you just how much power this puppy really has. . Great job viewtv. . Doug

I lived in a pretty good area and i have picked up 80 channels some in spanish which i have deleted i slowly rotated the antenna manually as i auto search the channels and found to pick up many more as i did this instead of just pointing in the direction and leaving it there to auto search the picture quality is excellent  and as you can see  in the pics. You don't need any special kind of stand for it i took an old lamp and took the top off and hooked it up it works great and yes from time to time you have to readjust the channels by remote and i will tell you this not everybody is a antenna kind of person you need patience from time to time

Now this antenna is the best and i say the best one i ve bought! it is amazing! i live in the center of cities, where the closest city is 60 miles away, i have even gotten channels from 180 degrees with out even moving the rotor! i live on the eastern shore of maryland and have picked up philadelphia, lancaster, wilmington, baltimore and washington channels and it s facing baltimore only! moving the rotor i get salisbury, rehobeth (i didn t even know they had a tower) and alexandria virginia plus baltimore and washington stations (not even pointing that way) i have this thing only about 18 feet off the ground too! i m amazed! i had 75 channels, counting sub channels of course, the last time i checked, and these were just with it sitting stationary. I have bought two other antennas and one of them was good but not as good as this one and the other one only picked up major channels when it was pointed directly at them. I ve recommended this antenna to everyone i know! it deserves 6 stars! if i could get it higher (but i can t because i m a 55 year old female who hates heights) it would probably pick up norfolk channels for sure, norfolk is about 120 miles but over the cheasapeske bay mostly as a crows fly from my house. I don t put it past this little darlin to pick the channels up there though!

Great antenna. Purchased a cheaper one from a discount store that was the same style and was supposed to perform similarly. They did not. The cheaper one had a very thin coax cable which i think allowed in a lot of interference. This model has a proper coax and is shielded very well. This model also has a standard screw type coax connection on the antenna housing itself, whereas the other antenna, the coax was soldered inside the housing. With the viewtv antenna, if my coax ever goes bad, i can simply unscrew the old coax and replace it - a very nice feature. This antenna pulls in many more stations than our old original outdoor antenna that looked like a huge sputnik - you know the style. The box that controls the rotation is a very nice feature as well, and comes with a remote. The remote has two buttons on it, but as far as we can tell, they both do the exact same thing. Which leads me into the only (minor) con of this product. . When you push any button on the remote or push the button on the box to rotate the antenna, it begins rotating. When you release the button it stops. However, when you push the button again, it starts rotating the opposite way. This led to much frustration the first night getting it set up. We were rotating the antenna and almost had a channel dialed in, so we stopped the rotating. We needed just a little more, so we pushed the button for just a second, and completely lost the channel. This is because the antenna was now rotating away from the source instead of towards it. Many many back and forth attempts later, i decided to go stand in the yard and immediately saw what the problem was. The remote is very misleading with the two buttons. It would seem that one button rotates it clockwise, and one counterclockwise. This is not the case. Both buttons function just as the single button on the box does. They rotate until you release, then rotate the opposite way when you press them again. We always point our antenna to where we get the most channels the best, and just leave it alone. The antenna works great for this. If you have to constantly rotate your antenna to pull in different channels, this unit may be a little more aggravation than it s worth for you. . Overall, still a five-star antenna, especially for the price. Just be aware of the manner in which it rotates and maybe you ll have less of a headache getting everything dialed in than i did.

We decided to cancel cable. I looked into the individual antennas (e. G. Mohu leaf), but considering we have 4 tvs, $30-60 a per antenna was out of the question. After some browsing and researching, i decided to take a chance on this antenna. I'd never heard of the brand, but thought that for the price (35. 99 at the time), what did i have to lose. According to antennaweb. Org we are 30 miles from the tampa towers and 65 miles from the orlando towers. I chose to do an attic installation. I put it above the garage. As you can see in the photos, i used pvc pipe (4ft, 3/4") to mount the antenna. And attached the pipe to a piece of plywood. To get the signal to the 4 tvs i used a standard splitter, i thought i was going to need a amplified splitter but i didn't. The antenna worked for the orlando and the tampa stations, but i chose to orient the antenna towards the tampa towers. We are getting a great signal on all of the tvs, and even though it's facing towards tampa, we also pickup a few orlando stations and they're in the opposite direction. Between the antenna, netflix, and online store, we are saving $120 per month compared to cable.

I originally purchased an equally priced indoor antenna from walmart but i was unable to pick up a few main channels such as fox and found out they were out of range. I purchased this antenna and took about an hour to install and run the cables and use tar to cover the mounting holes and everything. I now pick up two fox channels along with every other channel i was hoping for. The only negatives in my opinion is that you have to have a line of sight for the remote especially since all the coax lines are in the attic it would have been much easier to just place the box in the attic and attach to the coax cables going to each room. Instead, i had to run one wire down the wall from the antenna to the box then another wire back up the wall to the coax lines that feed the rest of the house. The only reason i gave it four stars instead of five is since i then went outside and tried to use the remote to turn the antenna and for some reason it only moves a couple degree then go a couple degree back the other direction and just does this back and forth and no matter what buttons you hit it never goes any further around even though it says it can go 360 degree. So not sure if something is in the way and preventing it from turning but haven't had a chance to go back up on the roof and try to figure it out yet. . Thank you

Full package- everything you need except your mount- you'll need a 1" mast post- shown in the photo but not included. Might seem intimidating when you open the box but assembly is simple. A 1 phillips is the only needed tool. Be careful attaching the rotatory motor base to the antenna. Be gentle attaching the 25' coax cable at each end. There are two tv outputs, one is hard wired, don't use a terminator on the other output. There is a red power led on both the controller box and on the bottom of the antenna itself. This antenna is highly directional especially at uhf frequencies. I'm getting twenty or so stations 60-70 miles away via a simple garage attic mount. Meets my needs. Good price. No remorse!

Unit arrived slightly damaged since it was placed in a protective outer box. Unit was still functional and picked up all the channels i wanted to view. I was going to replace a fairly new antenna that i had recently placed in the attic because i was having a problem with ch 11. While i was testing the viewtv antenna, i turned on the lights in the room and ch 11 went away. Turns out that the only problem with my attic antenna was the led light bulbs in my second floor ceiling. The led bulbs must be generating interference in the 200 mhz range, but i'll have to check with a spectrum analyzer to verify. I replaced the bulbs with cfl bulbs and there was no more interference. Perhaps one of my neighbors will be interested in cutting the cord and taking this antenna off my hands. On a side note, after placing my order, the seller emailed me a list of do's and don'ts, which would have been nice to know before i made the purchase. Their don't that potentially would have effected me was a warning to only use the white cable that comes with the antenna and not to use any splitters between the power supply and the antenna. The amplifier is in the antenna and gets it's power from the power box that you sit next to your tv. Their reasoning is that you could potentially block the voltage to the antenna and motor control signal by using a splitter. I used the channel plus 2512 two way splitter/combiner and it worked like a charm. I didn't lose power to the antenna, the motor still turned and i had plenty of signal to the tv. Hope this helps. Watch out if you have led bulbs installed in the ceiling or in a ceiling fan near your tv antenna (i had both). . Supplemental - examined the rf output from the led bulbs and there was significant rf emanations coming from them in the frequency range that i was having reception problems. The blue line was the rf chamber with the led off and everything above the blue line is coming from the led bulbs.

Installed this antenna in my attic and connected it to a hdhomerun. I connected that to a netgear wifi extender plug to make the channels available on my network without worrying about running cable to every room. The streaming quality is perfect. . I have tried all of the sheet type antennas, and never was able to pick up abc from 40 miles away (even with 70ish mile antennas). This one works perfectly in my attic, with a house blocking the angle needed for this channel. To install, i mounted the base to a 2x4 and it easily stands on its own. . Long term goal is to connect the hdhomerun to plex so that i can record dvr and watch tv outside of my network.

I purchased this hoping to get stations from seattle, wa, channels 4, 5, 7 and 13 so we could get local news which is not available on sling. We are 100+ miles away with mountains between us. Pointing the antenna due south we get all of these plus more, 30 some in all. If we point the antenna north into canada we would get even more. The rotor is the only thing i have issues with, you basically have to be outside with the antenna and control box both in line of site to get it where you want it. It has already gone through several wind storms and 2 ice storms and it has held up. Reception can be poor during these storms but so can dish antennas. The reception quality from this is much better than direct tv ever was, with clear picture quality and sound. No more $80 monthly fees. Works good on two tvs.

I was incredibly skeptical of this product due to the pricing, and when i recieved i found it to be incredibly light and kind of cheesy as it's mostly made of plastic. I originally put it on the mount that online store recommended for 20 bucks. Now i have a 20$ paper weight because i drilled an additional hole in it and obviously can't return it. With that mount i didn't have very good luck and was disappointed. I actually tried to rig my old rca antenna to it and just make use of the rotator (the rotater remote has a 10 ft range if your lucky) but it didn't work. So i gave the antenna one more shot. I bolted a piece of 3/4" black schedule 40 iron gas piping about 5 ft long into my old antenna mount and put this antenna on it. Once i got it pointed in the ideal direction i have not moved it nor have i had reception issues. I'm picking up all available channels in my area around 25. I live in north dakota where it's always windy and that has yet to interfere with the signal. Coulds haven't posed a problem yet either. I can't say weather cold will break it down as we have only had about 2 weeks of near 0 degree weather. Overall i have had it up for around a month and have been satisfied.

I don't write a lot of reviews but this thing blew me away, literally. I set it up a day before hurricane irma here in naples, fl. It survived 100+mph winds flawlessly. Obviously i mounted it well but structurally it survived the winds and continues to work great! anyone saying anything negative about this item either installed it wrong or is flat out lying! great item! great price and it qualifies as hurricane resistant. Big plus in my book!

Installed this antenna on my rooftop this week. It has surpassed my expectations in its ability to receive digital channels. My house is located between chicago and milwaukee, i have lots of large tall trees nearby as well as taller houses, and this antenna still picks up over 50 channels. I have pointed it in the direction of where most of the milwaukee tv transmitters are, and to my surprise, the antenna not only picks up the milwaukee channels great, but also picks up the chicago stations when it is not pointed in their direction. I highly recommend this product. The difficult part of the installation is running the coaxial wires through the walls and floor of the house. The stand for the antenna is sold separately. The antenna comes with a decent length of coaxial cable included, but in my case i needed 100 feet of coaxial cable so i ordered that separately as well. I use roku devices in conjunction with the hd antenna to provide my household with a massive array of free quality television. I am very happy with this antenna.

The antenna arrived on time and in good shape. Would be nice to have more directions included, but i did call the company and they were helpful over the phone. The rotation part is strange, in that sometimes it goes clockwise or counter clockwise but in no discernible pattern. However it was fairly easy to determine where to direct it based on the fcc. Gov listing of hd tv channels. Unfortunately i was not able to pull in channels that are about 40 miles from my location, but evidently this is a terrain based issue. I am located in hutto near the dollar general, and cannot pull in austin, tx channels with the antenna about 20' in the air. I can pull in the leader channels, but they are in spanish which i don't understand, and i can pull in the channels in killeen, but they are not of much interest (old b&w shows, or again, spanish) the channels that i got where very clear, so no issues there. Good try by the antenna, but no dice for the channels of interest in austin.

For more than10 years my husband and i have been on cable and recently dish network. Now that we are retired and on fixed income, we had to make a change. After searching on online store and reading reviews about view tv, we decided to give it a try. We live in a gray area in forrest city, arkansas about 50 miles from towers in jonesboro, ar and memphis, tn. We are now able to receive 7 free channels that we enjoy watching verses 500 paid channels we had no interest for or very seldom watched. There are a few basic channels i would loved to get but can't seem to. That being said, i'm glad we cut the cable! p. S if there's anyone who can give us tips to receive more channels i would appreciate your suggestions.

My frankenstein. . * my setup is marked below for quick reference *. . I live in palm bay, florida (south east of orlando) and wanted to drop cable, the phone line and keep the internet. I have a pretty high expectation of what i want from my ota antenna setup. I want abc, cbs, nbc and fox. I want my nfl games and the good prime time shows these stations provide. But i do not live in or close to a city and i want to run four tv s off of my ota setup. So i picked up this antenna based upon reviews and its range. I put it up in the attic and i faced it towards the orlando towers to the north west. I got around 40-46 channels depending on fidgeting around with this directional antenna. I am 50 - 60 miles from the main channels i wanted to get; abc, cbs, nbc and fox. When i first setup this antenna, out of these four, i initially picked up abc, cbs and nbc. Fox was nowhere to be found. Abc and cbs came in great and nbc had a poor signal. . I moved this antenna around, i lost nbc and i continued to move this directional antenna around for days and i never got a signal from fox and nbc's signal never came back. I did still get a lot of channels with this antenna. So i decided to do some more research (note, this is a uhf ultra high frequency and a vhf very high frequency directional antenna) with hopes i could improve my channel count and the signal strength. After weeks of reading tech blogs, antenna installation webpages, dish installation blogs, websites of knowledgeable people, reading and researching how to understand tvfools website and various other free websites where you plug in your location and get your signal readout, i realized the common theme. Everyone's situation is unique and each person builds their own frankenstein monster and compares notes. Furthermore, keep your receipts so you can return what doesn't work. . Gear information. . After this research i understood the difference between single directional, multi-directional and omni-directional antennas, indoor/outdoor antennas, when and how to ground properly, changes in local code through the years on grounding, what is a preamplifier, which ones are good for certain situations and when you should use a distribution amplifier in conjunction with a preamp. When considering having two antennas combined, never use a splitter get a coupler/combiner, buy new quad shield coaxial cable with solid copper cores to run throughout your home, do not have too much excess coaxial cable between your connections and ports/devices, buy a set of tools so you can cut your own coaxial cable to proper lengths and get f connectors to properly terminate your ends after cutting. . Now, this is important, all of the free antenna websites where you plug in your address and they give you a graph of your location and the towers around you, i did not get a specification (or i never noticed them) of which specific tower was a uhf tower or a vhf tower. But i eventually did find one website that did specify the frequency of each tower. Antennas direct (they sell various antennas and the gear to go along) has a location finder, or what they call a transmitter locator . Plug in your address and it gives you your towers and signals read out like tvfool and the rest, but they give you each towers frequency too. This is how i found out my nbc station tower was running on vhf . (note: some of these couplers/combiners/joiners have 2 ports in and one port out, with 1 port in on the left side stating uhf and the 2 port in on the right side stating vhf . This means that only ultra high frequencies will be received on the port on the left side, while the other, right side port states it will only take very high frequencies. They will then combine a uhf antenna signals to anther vhf antenna and its signals to the out port. I have read that very few today can take a uhf/vhf antenna on each side and join their signals together. I could not find one that was clearly stated for this purpose, but i did find one that was commented on as being able to run a uhf/vhf antenna on both side ports in . . Grounding information. . When grounding the coaxial cable outside, do not get a grounding block, get a lightning surge protector instead. You are going to ground both outside in your cable box to your homes copper grounding rod in the ground (outside you should see your cable companies green coated copper wire going from the cable box into the ground to the grounding rod), the difference is the lsp has better protection from surges. If you are going with an outside antenna, the antenna mass must be grounded too. It must have a grounding rod connected to it no more than 20 feet away. So if your antenna is on one side of the home and the grounding rod is on the other, you must install a new grounding rod to meet this requirement, here where i am, it can be fully buried. It must have 6 awg or thicker copper wire attached to the grounding rod via a grounding rod clamp. Then you must run the 6 awg (4 awg is thicker and preferred more often) copper line to the homes main grounding rod and clamped bonded there. The industry uses the term bonded/bonding in reference to clamping the copper wire to the grounding rod. Also my current code says to have the grounding rods separated by a distance of twice the size of the grounding rod, 8 feet apart for a 4 foot rod, 16 feet apart for an 8 foot rod etc. . Conclusion. . After all this i found my frankenstein i wanted to build. I decided to begin my trial and error process with two antennas, a coupler/combiner, a preamp, a lightning surge protector and a distribution amplifier. I bought a second antenna, the db8e bowtie. That antenna is from the antennas direct company i spoke of before (the transmitter locator with the uhf and vhf tower specificity). I had called and spoke with a lady there (an american company and an american customer service line too, no foreign customer service people). She saw my location and their transmitter locator too as we talked. She asked if i am going indoor or outdoor, i told her in the attic; she suggested the two most expensive antennas of course, the db8e bowtie antenna for the range/distance for uhf and combine it with the clearstream 5 antenna for the vhf . They have a 90 day return policy if bought directly from them. But i bought a db8e bowtie uhf from my local walmart for two reasons, a) i can inspect this costly antenna at the store as i pick it up, b) walmart has a decent return policy. . I got the db8e home, set it up and coupled it with this antenna and i got 46 channels, and most importantly i got fox. I now have fox. I know some people near me that can t get fox no matter what they do. They don t think about it anymore and they gave up on obtaining the fox signal. But i got it. Since this db8e uhf antenna gave me a channel this current antenna never could (fox), and other people can t get this channel with their setup, i was impressed, with this company and with their equipment. Since i was impressed with the db8e bowtie, i ordered the antennas direct vhf clearstream 5 antenna (from online store) that the saleslady suggested. I disconnected this antenna from the coupler and added the clearstream5 vhf antenna with the db8e bowtie; i now get 54 channels including abc, cbs, nbc, fox, cw, ion channels, pbs channels, movies channels and more. My channel signals are also stronger. Granted the ota channels are mostly different than what one gets from cable, such as fx, syfy, history channel etcetera. Those channels i do not get from ota. But for a $150 savings a month, one way or another i can stream those channels. . * my build *. . Short version. Antennas x2 combiner preamp coax to outside cable box surge protector coax back into the attic distribution amplifier/splitter coax to 4 tvs. . Actual products listed below. . * (antenna 1) db8e bowtie + (antenna 2) clearstream5 winegard cc-7870 antenna coupler winegard lna 200 preamp tii 212 broadband cable tv and satellite lightning surge protector 75 ohm 5-1500mhz pct 4 port cable tv/hdtv/digital distribution amplifier *. This thing is the cheapest looking piece of junk that i have ever seen. But after trying 3 more expensive antenna's, this one really worked. I set it up in the livingroom on the end of a broom handle! i instantly got 60 locals after playing with the postion. Rotation control kind of sucks, but that is a non issue. I live about 20 miles out of houston with lots of trees, previously had dish, first day i used it we had a storm. In my dish days i would have lost signal, not with this one. I cancelled dish the next day after 16 years. They had a hard time understanding that tv used to be free. Use online store firestick for movies.

This package deal is quite remarkable! as a broadcast engineer i was a little skeptacle on what i would find in this $35. 00 box ? to mu surprise i was very impressed with the design and workmanship: it is built to the upmost design specifications and the preamp design directly in the dipole makes it a true high gain device. My geographical location is such that there is no lign of sight to any tv signal reception i. E. Antenna looks at tree cover in all directions. I tested this antenna on my back porch 10, above ground level and to my surprise i got all digital tv stations some with low power 50 miles away. Most tv stations have at least 3 additional channels and in my case i have 28 choices to watch, you could say " good buy cable tv! " needless to say this is not mate for heavy and ice conditions as you would hint on mount washington nh but for all of us in normal wx conditions this is a great deal.

Disadvantage and Critical reviews

This is actually the second antenna i purchased within 4 months. The first one was for my home and worked great! this second one was for my dads house which is next door (down the road). It did not pick up a single over the air tv channel. He does live down a slight hill so that is probably the reason but still, the box says 150 mile reception and i can get about 15 channels at my home but he gets zero. Not a single channel (not even the gospel channel that always seems to come in! ) very disappointing. But. The online store team easily let me return the item for a full refund. I didn't even have to pay return shipping. Fedex came right to my house to pick it up. Very convenient. My dad ended up buying a more powerful (professional) outdoor antenna that isn't much bigger than this one a d is able to nkw get about 10 channels.

S. Erickson, Hawaii

I think the antenna works fine, it did for a while i bought this in august of 2016. Within 6 months the black box attached only works sometimes. The red light on the antenna is only on once in a great while and the antenna will not turn and we have no channels available. My son works with police and fire equipment and said the black box is faulty. I wrote the seller and received no response.

M. Olga, Sunderland says

Don't let any bad reviews fool you, this antenna is awesome. I live about 50 miles from la about half way to santa barbara and i stuck this antenna on my roof and just pointed it in the general direction on los angeles. I ran a scan, boom, 117 channels. Granted, most are korean, religious, home shopping, and spanish, but that's no fault of the antenna. I get all the football games, all the sub channels, and everything is crystal clear. I plan on adding an hd home run from. Silicon dust to the mix so i can watch on other tvs, tablets, and phones too. For $35 this antenna is well worth it. Have recommended to friends. . Update: well, the antenna has stopped working now, and the motor has also stopped turning the antenna. Now that the motor has stopped working the antenna just freely spins as the wind blows and isn't usable anymore. I have now purchased another antenna that is hopefully higher quality. For $30 i guess you get what you pay for.

E. Elida, Coventry

Just took it out the box and installed last night only to find that the amplifier doesn't work. It won't even power up. Tried searching for channels and got 12. I got 30 with the flat indoor antenna i bought with the last fire box. I don't know who the manufacturer is, but i think that i just wasted a lot of money on this.

Z. Guest, Stoke-on-Trent says

I'm under a mountain shadow for half of our local ota channels, so i thought it might be worth a try to put this on the roof since it's supposed to be more powerful than the leaf style antennas. Even though it looks like it's all nice aluminum or steel, it's actually mostly cheap plastic. And the signal booster is not that powerful. So don't expect it to live too long on your roof, nor do i suspect it to help you get a better signal than the basic leaf style antennas. If you want to give the roof antenna thing a try you're better off spending a bit more for something sturdier.

T. Nicole, North Dakota

"150 mile range" not hardly. I have my antenna on a pole attached to the top of my house, it is approximately 20ft off the ground. I live within 65 miles of several tv stations. According to an online antenna guide, i should be able to get around 25 channels, i get 6. A booster dose not help. It interferes with the power for the antenna, and i get no signal at all. I get the same channels from a home made coat hanger antenna, $5.

N. Candy, California says

This is definitely going back. It is very cheaply made and there is no way it's 150 miles. I live smack in the middle of 2 major cities, about 65 miles to each. I can't get anything more than 4 channels, i was never a big pbs fan. The only thing left to try is get it at the fcc ceiling of 40', it won't last in the wind.

Decent antenna performance. Able to pick up stations 60 miles away from the attic at 33 ft elevation over ground. However the rotor did not work properly. There are two buttons on the remote to operate the rotor to turn left or right. However the rotor would turn left or right without any rime or reason. In other words pressing the left button would turn the rotor right or left randomly. Same story for the right button. If you plan to use this antenna to receive tv from transmitters in opposite directions you should consider installing a cheap camera pointed at the antenna so you can tell which direction the antenna is in. . Ps viewtv's marketing department must think all their customers live on top of mountains and all the tv towers are on top of mountains as well. Promising 150 mile range! . Come on guys get down to earth.

W. Alexia, Solihull says

Allows for tv entertainment and news without having to purchase more channels than a person can watch in a day without the upward cost of dish type channels. . Additional info: i have degraded my rating for this product. After having it for a year, wind juggled the positioning. Trying to adjust for "signal" receipt is a very tricky issue. The antenna moves way too fast and it is not possible to determine which direction it is rotating from the remote. I would suggest a stand alone antenna that you need to adjust manually as opposed to a motorized antenna. I am very disappointed to say the least.

. Neva, Georgia

So cheaply made. Lots of plastic. It works okay but for my application i would not buy it again regardless of the price. 150 miles - not. If you have an absolute clear sky in the direction of the broadcast station then probably. It does somewhat better than my $10. 00 paper thin indoor antenna. The antenna rotator is flakey and there is no indication of what direction your pointing except the channel your trying to tune in.

U. Melissa, Kentucky says

I was very happy when i first set this antenna up. I had a huge old style antenna that brought in about 34 local channels. The first day i installed this new antenna i got 38 channels. After a couple days the number dropped off to about 30. I checked direction and cable connections, with no improvement. I've been busy so it's been 5 months since installing, quality of signal has continued to degrade. I thought this had a one year warranty, but online store says my service has run out on this product. Too bad

I. Adrienne, Bradford

It's on a shelf in my garage, in case someone else wants it. I have an 80 mile omni-directional antenna that picks up 40 channels, this one picked up 9. I realize it's directional, but when i placed it facing the direction i wanted to receive from, it still failed to perform to the level of the 80 mile omni-directional. So i ended up taking it back down and sticking with the omni directional. It was missing some screws for assembly as well. Wasn't happy with the purchase and boxing it up is too difficult to return.

. Helen, Warrington says

This is the fifth antenna i have bought in four years. For the price, you cannot find a better antenna. I live 80 miles south of one metropolitan area and 60 miles west of another. This antenna will pick up a total of 40 stations from those two areas, which includes just about every station transmitting over the air from those areas. There are several reasons why i cannot rate it any higher than three stars. The antenna is very cheaply made. It is fragile and can easily be broken resulting in reduced sensitivity, or non-functional. You must be very careful when assembling the item and placing it on a pole, else you will break something. Another (major) issue with the antenna is operation in low to moderate winds. There is no mechanism for keeping the antenna pointed in the proper direction other than friction (antenna control off), or the motor at-rest torque (antenna control on. ) neither force is sufficient to keep the antenna pointed in the proper direction resulting in almost constant adjustment. Also, moderate wind (20mph and higher) can damage the antenna due to its design and manufacture from very cheap materials. Having said all that, i still buy another when mine breaks because for about $35. 00 a year, it beats paying for cable.

A. Taylor, Pennsylvania

This is a none starter at 6 stations (3 keep winking out), none being the major networks. Most of the stations we need are within 35 miles (per multiple antenna sources) and include 29 stations. When we first moved in 1995 there was a very small vhf antenna 20 foot off the ground which got abc, nbc, cbs, fox pbs. We went with cable yo get more and after 20 years, there are cheaper options and better ways to spend $180. 00 per month. The unit was tried at multiple heights, locations, & directions. I am sure it works for some, but not in the dc/baltimore area. Just for fun, i checked and there are another 36 stations at 50 mile mark for a total of 65 stations if it just got 1/3 of advertised range. We may return or give as a gag gift, cause the joke is on us.

C. Evelyn, Rutland says

This antenna works well enough although the range figures are extremely optimistic. Don't expect more than 30 mile reception unless you have some kind of ideal conditions. I thought this machine seemed too cheap to have a rotater and it is. The rotater is worse than useless. It has no brake or other lock so, if there is wind, it weather-cocks around and will not stay put where you want it. There is no indicator so you have to go outside to see where it is pointed and the receiver has to be positioned so that you can point the controller through a window from a place where you can see the antenna. The control is so crude that it is maddening to use and it is almost impossible to point it accurately. I am going to bring it down and put a screw in it to jam the rotater so i can go back to positioning it by rotating the pole as i had been doing with the old antenna.

Q. Linda, Arkansas

I have had this antenna installed inside my attic for a few months now. My home is located about 50 miles from most of the broadcast towers for my area. This antenna could pick up most of the channels, however it struggled to maintain reception of abc, which is somewhat notoriously difficult to receive in this area. I have tried adjusting the direction and adding another signal amplifier in-line, but very little improvement was made. I discovered that it could pick up the station just fine for a while but the longer it was tuned, the signal would continuously degrade until it was no longer detected at all. Eventually, i added a remote controlled power outlet that i could turn on and off so that when the signal got too bad to watch, i could power off the booster + rotation control box and power it back on from my living room. After several weeks of frustration with this, i added a mohu air 60 antenna and used a signal splitter backwards to join the two antennas. This configuration made a substantial improvement, however abc still chops up and gets scrambled about every 2 minutes or so. It's now watchable, but only barely. I also tried eliminating this antenna and using only the mohu air 60, that gave me pretty much the same results as having both antennas connected. I am now considering pulling this antenna down and finding something else to put up in its place.

Y. Wimbish, Dorset says

Worked okay for 12 months then failed. Green light on signal booster stopped lighting. I opened the housing of the antenna and found significant corrosion on the small circuit board inside, including one component (a resistor, i think) who's lead was eaten through & through. Attached are 2 photos showing the circuit board corrosion on the backside and the front side resistor. . This is supposedly an outdoor antenna. And i live in socal where is doesn't rain much. This unit is poorly engineered to allow such corrosion in such a short period of time. Don't buy this antenna unless you are installing it indoors. Wish i could get my money back now. Unfortunately, the whole unit is going into the trash. Bummer.

L. Rowe, Sheffield

Well for us it doesn't work. It get fewer stations than my standard fixed mount antenna . Were in winter here and can't get on the roof to get this down to put our old one up. We have trees here in our neighborhood however the old antenna had fewer problems. I would pass this up.

G. Pamela, Camden says

Update 8/31/2018: if you read my review below, you'll see i did not have good results using this antenna for tv. After i wrote the review, i was trying to decide whether or not to return the antenna, and i decided to try and use it for tuning in fm stations. I have a very good fm tuner with switchable dual antenna inputs and digital signal strength read out, so i was able to directly compare the two antennas for fm. Out of 41 possible fm channels, the viewtv antenna received stronger and/or better sounding fm on 18 stations. The 1byeone antenna received stronger and/or better sounding fm on 11 stations. The remaining 12 stations were tunable on at least one of the antennas, but the sound quality was unacceptably poor. Note that for this fm test i pointed both antennas in the same direction, i did not rotate the viewtv antenna to see if i could improve the reception because rotating and monitoring that 41 times seemed like too much of a chore. But, now that i know that the viewtv is pretty good at picking up fm, i will experiment with rotating it to see what improvement is possible. . My original review: this antenna seems to give you a lot for your money. I got the antenna with an inline signal amplifier, motorized rotator with remote control, and a mounting mast for about $45. The main thing i was interested in was the motorized rotator. A year previously i installed a very similar antenna in my attic, but it was stationary. I decided it would be useful to be able to rotate the antenna to see if i could pick up more stations, or increase the signal strength for the few stations i did receive. . I mounted this view tv antenna in the attic, just a few feet away from my current antenna. My tv has a signal strength meter in a sub menu, so i was able to make direct comparisons between the two antennas. These two antennas were a good comparison, they are almost exactly the same shape and size, and the price was within 2 dollars of each other. . To make a long story short, my current antenna (1byone amplified outdoor digital hdtv antenna here on online store) significantly outperformed the viewtv antenna. No matter which way i rotated the viewtv antenna it always produced lower signal strength than the 1byone antenna (which i did not adjust from it's current guesstimate direction . ) on my strongest channel (the local nbc) the 1byone was 10 points higher than the viewtv. I have no idea what the signal strength numbers mean, but for example, the view tv shows around 58 points at best, compared to 68 points for the 1byone. Most important, out of 11 channels received by the 1byone antenna, the viewtv only could receive the 8 strongest, and couldn't tune the 3 weakest channels in at all! . . No matter what bells and whistles i got with the viewtv, it doesn't produce a stronger signal, so i won't be replacing my original antenna. . In my view, the performance is the only thing that really matters, but i do have a few other negative observations about the viewtv antenna. First, it is very lightweight, it does not look to me like it would survive very long if it was installed outdoors. Second, the way it is wired is not very flexible, the signal amplifier and the rotation receiver are the same unit, so if you wanted to try a different amplifier you would lose the ability to rotate the antenna. Third, the way it rotates is awkward. There is a single button on the rotation box. Hold it down, and the antenna turns, but you won't know if it is going clockwise or counterclockwise, it keeps going till it reaches the limit of travel, then if you hold down the button again, it goes the opposite way. The rotation remote control has two buttons, and you would think that one would be clockwise, and the other counterclockwise. Sometimes it does work that way, but most of the time, no matter which button you push, the antenna keeps going in the previous direction until it reaches the stop, and then if you push it again, it reverses and goes the other way. Trying to make small adjustments to the direction the antenna is pointing is a slow process, because nearly every time you try to move it just a little, it goes the way opposite of what you intended, and you have to wait till it goes all the way to the end and then you can reverse it and go back to where you wanted to be.

. Joanna, New Jersey

Item is all looks and no function. I installed it on the peak of my roof and did not receive a single channel. I received 5 channels with my older indoor antenna. After taking a closer look at the unit i realized most of the parts are just for show and the actual antenna is inside the plastic housing and nothing more than a cheap low range indoor loop type antenna.

P. Hayward, Michigan says

So-folks, this is not high tech. Comes packaged nicely, assembly is required. I bought this because hubby is a die hard football fan and is tolerant of my need to go camping. So, while he went and enjoyed biketoberfest, i decided to set this up and test it out with our camper tv on the back deck at home. Now. We live close to downtown orlando proper, where there are 3 major networks: fox, cbs, and abc. I m clearly expecting to find every channel i need that carries live sports. . But wait-there s the assembly part. Was easy-except i was shorted a screw for the remote motor assembly. Got it put together anyway, headed out to the deck only to realize i did not get the power supply to the rotator box (the part that makes the antenna move via the included remote). It s okay-it ll work without this, but i suppose sometimes it might be handy. . I have a few trees, and i m about 10 miles from the cbs and abc stations. Probably 12 from the fox station. Was able to bring in only cbs, a ton of random stations, and fox. I m excited about this actually- i thought it d be less. All total, my tv found 35 stations. . I ve got it mounted approximately 8ft up using an umbrella base and ¾ pvc conduit. The base has screws that will accommodate up to a ¾ pipe of sorts. . Overall very satisfied. Just wish i d gotten a power supply to the box.

I bought this with the mounting pole. In hopes the rotor would help me dial in signals, since i'm in a valley and tv is hard to get. First off, it came to me as a used/returned item. Not new as advertised. The mounting pole didn't come with it, that i paid for! so, after a call to online store customer service. Nothing was addressed to the fact the antenna was used, and didn't work at first. But i figured that out as being the cable supplied was no good. So, i put my own cable on it and it rotates now. Now the mounting pole. What a fiasco that was, just to get the operator to understand i paid for the pole when i made my purchase. After almost an hour on the phone, i finally got him to send me the pole "free of charge" umm i paid for it! it took 2 days to get the antenna. It took an additional week to receive the mounting pole. As far as an improved signal. Yeah, not so much. If anything, i get less channels now. And if you don't have it mounted where you can see it, you don't know where it's pointing. In other words. I'm still looking for a new antenna. Maybe in a different area, this antenna will work great? but in my area, it didn't make an improvement. Good luck

. Brendon, Alaska says

We have no idea how this works yet as the the screws to put it together weren't in the package and my husband has to go find the teeny tiny screws today. Hooked it up today to one tv. After my husband was able to find screws to fit. We have attic installation so we didn't expect 150 mi range and we didn't get it but we have enough to satisfy us and cut the satellite dish off. Only all of our so called local stations( we are 50 miles away at least from all) came in except the cbs station. . Its transmitter is probably in the same place as the others.

. Veronica, Northern Territory

It works as long as you get it up high enough, above houses and trees. Mine is on a 20' pole and is barely marginal, and i had to raise it twice to get a signal. Anything in it's path will interfere with the reception of the signal, trees, houses, that's just the way the signal works. The "150 miles range" advertised is somewhat misleading. The only way you will get that kind of range is if you have it on top of a very high mast or tower, such as a 50'+, although at that height, almost any antenna will work. Yes the antenna rotates, but there is no direction indicator telling you which way it is pointing from inside the house. Unless you have someone assisting you, you will need to rotate it, then go outside and look at it, then repeat if necessary, very annoying. It has a remote, but sometimes when you press the "right" button to rotate to the right, it rotates to the left, very frustrating. I, personally, do not use the rotator because i live in a metro area where most all the towers are in the same general area, and i have it directionally fixed. If you can get it up above the tree/house line with nothing in it's path, and point it in the correct direction then it works good. (note: there are websites that can tell you where the towers are located. )

O. Patton, Delaware says

This is a bad purchase and if i hadn't thrown the box away i'd return it. Had better luck with a cheap $10 antenna inside that picked up twice as many channels. Do not buy this item. I'm 20-50 miles between 4 transmitters and only get 10 channels. With my cheap one i had right at 20. I have it hooked up properly and the antenna doesn't turn as it is supposed to with the remote.

R. Kellie, Sachsen

What a piece of garbage! i should have listened to the one star reviewers and passed over this piece of crap! it is made out of very cheap looking plastic and there is a lot of play in the motor attached head. I doubt it would last very long at all, a good windstorm would blow it apart. Anyway, i installed it on my roof and it did work fine for about 2 months and then it started dropping channels. Channels would fade in and out and pixelate constantly. I took it down, threw it in the trash and installed the rca ant751 antenna instead. It works perfectly and is made in the usa!

B. April, Saarland says

This antenna did not reach even a 1/3 the advertised distance. It does feel a little cheap, but i would have been fine with this if i could get reception for stations up to 40 miles at tops. Unfortunately, i reinstalled my old antenna since the new one took me from 16 to 6 channels.

. Nees, Shropshire

I was dubious about the reviews thinking it might not work in my location, but figured i could return it if it didn t work. For the price this works great. Seems a bit cheap and light but i get great reception 60miles away with lots of mountains between me and the tower (mt wilson, southern california). I get about 30 channels, most of which are foreign language or shopping network but as far as quality tv i get cbs, nbc, ktla, a few others and 2 pbs channels. I might try a higher pole to get more ( current pole is only 2 feet above roof peak). My only complaint is the poor english in the sparse manual, but i m satisfied with this. My main goal was backup if fios is out and to satisfy the radio nerd in me.

X. Megan, Northwest Territries says

I give it 3 stars because it works, but it is no better than any other digital antenna. It does not get 150 miles range, it gets more like 25 to 30 miles. It was cumbersome to put together. The weird thing is, you are not allowed to screw the antenna into a different amplifier. For some reason it only works when it is screwed into the power supply box it came with, so if the power supply box fails then the antenna is junk. The truth is all of the digital antennas give the same signal strength because the broadcasting stations intentionally provide a weak signal to try to force you to subscribe to cable tv. It doesn't matter what over the air antenna you buy, they will all give you the same signal strength.

D. Guest, Hamburg

I took this up to upper michigan this summer thinking it would improve the antenna i have on the house. The stations are at least 80 miles away. The remote rotation works, but you have no idea what direction the antenna is pointing without physically looking at it. I didn't mount it on the roof outside as the roof is a 12/12 pitch and didn't have ladders to safely get up there. I did mount it in the attic, which wasn't as good as the radio shack antenna we put up there when they were changing to digital. The worst part was couldn't see the direction it was pointing.
