Review for z-wave plus indoor siren

Price was $25.95. Paired easy the first time on vera lite and works great. I wish there was a way to have it show up as a siren as it shows up as an on and off switch but works fine.

Paired 2 of these to add onto our adt pulse system. Very straightforward. They work. Not super loud but great addition to make the overall system louder. Added one in the master bedroom to help ensure we'd hear the alarm in the middle of the night. And added the other in the garage to help neighbors hear it. Inexpensive easy way to bolster your system. Zooz z-wave plus indoor siren zse01 Review (zse01)

After receiving my zooz zse01, i was unpacked and paired with my smartthings hub in less than 5 minutes. The backup batteries were not required to to use the product but i will definitely be placing an order for some asap. Sound level is comprable to a smoke alarm, enough to wake my family but i don't expect the neighbors to notice. I will likely be adding another device to the other side of my house. Bonus, the are ac powered devices and will double as zwave repeaters to help with mesh signal. Overall very satisfied with this purchase. . Update1: lost power while the siren was alarming, and the sound stopped, despite having backup batteries. Attached video in hope manufacturer can assist. . Update2: the customer service team was outstanding in working through my reported issue. Appears there may have been an issue with my backup batteries as the unit worked for them. They sent it back to me with a set of batteries they tested with and the unit is working! back to 5 stars! -V. Edna

  • This siren is a great addition to my z-wave network. There really isn't much to say about it other than it works and it is loud. It takes standard batteries which is nice. You can plug it in via usb, which is also a bonus. The only thing that i don't love about it is its size & color. Not sure if it has to be that large to get that much sound out of the speaker, but it is bigger than i thought it was going to be. Also, the color makes it stand out quite a bit. Plain white would make it a little more inconspicuous.
  • I purchased the zooz z-wave plus indoor siren as a secondary siren for my adt pulse system. It works great! . . Install is simple. Add aaa batteries to the zooz (i did not have to plug it in to connect it). Log on to adt pulse website and click the manage devices tab. Add the zooz as a switch. Follow the prompted instructions. Make sure you have the zooz device right next to the adt gateway. . After connection is complete, use the automation tab and program in when you want it to turn on and off.
  • Sometimes it's difficult to stop it.
  • I am pretty tech savvy but had a difficult time setting this up with my smartthings. I got this alarm to sound. But not able to turn it off without going to the device on my device list to turn it off. My other siren turns off automatically when i disarm system. This didnt work for me so i returned it.
  • Connecting to smartthings was a little tricky as it shows up as a switch instead of a siren, but easily fixed. My main issue with the siren is that it is not very loud - i think my smoke alarms are louder.

After living with this device for just a few days, i'm impressed. To get the full functionality with smartthings, you need to use the available custom device handler. I use this device to add a chime to signal the start of the entry/exit periods for my alarm. I've also set a different chime to indicate that the alarm has been deactivated. And if i ever decide to replace my doorbell, there's a whole suite of other tones i can use for that purpose, too. It's so much more useful than the other two sirens i tested.

- C. CarmenVery good item. Loud, small, and easy to configure. It is battery operated so you can place it anywhere. Highly recommend.

Set it up with smarthings and did exactly what i want. It gave me an alarm if the door opens and i want to arm the house or if a door or window open, it gives me a different sound. . With a 4-year-old and a 2-year-old , it's important that we always know when the doors/windows open. Now we always know.

Samsung SmartThings Smart Home Hub

Samsung smartthings wins the smart home battle! there are so many different items by various manufacturers that work with smartthings. You still need to be careful because some items will only work with wink or another hub. But so far, i am very impressed with this hub. I use it for my clients for smart home monitoring. The app for smart phones also works well (i do wish they had one for ipad). And the website and support are so helpful. It is open source so there is a large community of developers and others with creative solutions. If you are new to smart home automation - start here with smartthings. Buy your hub first! then buy different components that are compatible.

Smartthings lets you easily control, monitor, and secure your home from anywhere in the world. The heart of your smart home, the samsung smartthings hub will connect all of your different smart locks, lights, outlets, thermostats, and more and let you control them from the free smartthings app. Receive notifications about what's happening in and around your home and use your smartphone to remotely control your home's security, energy usage, lighting, and more. Since smartthings is compatible with a wide variety of smart devices from different companies, once you have the smartthings hub and the free app for ios, android, or windows, you can add as many additional smartthings sensors or other popular z-wave, zigbee, or internet-connected products as you want to enhance your connected home. The samsung smartthings hub works in the us and canada. If the honeywell programmable thermostat was not detected, you may need to reset the device through a z-wave exclusion before it can successfully connect with the smartthings hub. To do so in the smartthings mobile app: 1. Tap the menu 2. Tap the hub 3. Tap z-wave utilities 4. Tap general device exclusion 5. When prompted: 1. Press the system button on the left side of the thermostat's display 2. Press and hold the blank center button until the display changes 3. The first set of numbers/arrows is the "function" section - scroll until you find "rf10" 4. The second set of numbers/arrows is the "setting" section - select 0 5. Press done in the lower left corner to save and exit after the app indicates that the device was successfully removed from smartthings, follow the first set of instructions above to connect the honeywell programmable thermostat. Note: please reference user guide and specification sheet below under 'technical specifications' for instructions on how to add devices and troubleshoot connectivity issues

Samsung Smartthings Smart Home Hub (f hub us 2) FAQ.

Best thanksgiving investment by far. Using it for controlling lights and security so far. Works well with ifttt and has plenty of out of the box automation features that you can use. Example: change home status to "away and armed" when everyone leaves. Disarm when someone comes back (it uses your phone as your presence sensor). Slowely turn on a light over 30 minutes in the morning. . My only complaint is that it does not send voice output to google home speaker. It only works with bose and samsung speaker. -Notice from X. Excellent product. My first smart home hub product was the wink. While i was able to pair it to my garage door sensor (zwave), front door lock (zwave), a couple of outside lights (zwave) and the nest thermostat. It had a huge delayed, the problem was that it was a wireless device only (it had no rj45/ethernet data port). So whenever i send a command or request status update of a device, it would take up to 20 seconds to respond. I return it for a full refund. I got this one instead because it has a rj45/ethernet data port. It connects directly to my router. Also repairing the devices from the wink to the smartthings hub was no problem. All devices work perfectly. Also i am able to set specific tasks to perform whenever a device gives up a specific status (such as my own cellphone, when leaving the house, make sure the lock is set) and a bunch of other tasks. In addition, it is open source and there is a community that is growing and building custom tasks/apps that solve specific problems (wink doesn't have that). For example, nest thermostat support is not officially supported but through the community, you are easily able to add it. Great product, easy to use, lots of features, easy to configure, it had a rj45 port and it has a compartment for backup with aa batteries which even comes included!

- F. ConnieI bought this initially to monitor two sets of gocontrol door and motion sensors. Since then i've connected this to my honeywell thermostat, two connected light bulbs, and a garage door opener. If you have the time to tweak everything you can make this do a lot of great stuff. . I recently tied this in with ifttt so that i can control the lights and garage from my pebble smartwatch.

This is my first shot at home automation. There was a great sale around thanksgiving and i picked one up. So far i have connected it with three wemo switches and two ge zwave wall switches, and 3 first alert smoke detectors. It works flawlessly. It also works great with alexa. One thing to consider, it doesnt not work with lutron caseta products, i am ordering a few and going to try and link them via ifttt. It also doesnt work with myq garage door openers, apparently it used to but they cut support, and doesn't work with nest, although alexa does to a limited extent. Overall i like it. I went with it over wink based on a great sale price and so so review on wink even though it has more support. I think its a great start but just the tip of an expensive iceberg.

AnonymousAt first i did not know how to work this product and then i bought my window and door sensors and installed them figured out how to pair them with my securifi router and now it works like a charm. Very loud inside but can be heard faintly from out side if door is closed. I suggest you also set one up outside the home if you want to alert neighbors. Product is not outside compatible but if you have a screened in porch with and electric outlet and cover it will work like a charm.

A great alarm that has options for different alarms for different alerts. The alarm volume can also be controlled.

Samsung SmartThings Arrival Sensor

These work great for people who don't have a cell phone capable of being used for presence or for those who would only be visiting once every month or so in which case the presence sensor on the phone would likely have stopped working correctly by then. However the two i have used so far are both down to 50% battery after only 1 month which isn't impressive.

The smartthings arrival sensor can be used in a child s bag, a car or around a pet s collar to monitor when they arrive or leave home. It can also emit a beeping noise to help you find your keys. It requires the smartthings hub.

Samsung SmartThings Multipurpose Sensor

Notice: i know a lot of people might complain about this so i want to bring it up first. You'll notice that after not very much time, maybe a month or less, the battery life will drop to 88% or something like that. Don't worry. That's just because of the formula they use to calculate the battery life. I have some door sensors that have been at 88% for months. When the battery gets down to around 50%, i recommend replacing them as they start to become unreliable i have found (based on 1 case so far). . I love these things, and i'm constantly thinking of new uses for them. I have one on all of my exit doors on the house as well as a few internal doors. These provide so much peace of mind for me, not to mention very useful for automation. . Just some examples:. I have one on my office door because i have a couple guinea pigs and i also have a couple of huskies. The huskies and the pigs don't really get along so i have to make sure i keep the office door closed, especially when i leave for the day. It's nice when i leave the house that if i'm unsure if i closed the door, i don't have to run back in, i can just check smartthings. . I also have automations set up to turn certain lights on and off, move my security cameras, send me notifications when i'm not home, etc. . I haven't had any reliability issues, except for one time so far (i have 6 of these) and that was because the battery was too low, so i replaced it. And this was the first one i've had to replace the battery on in nearly a year. Batteries are cheap people, so if you're investing $40 in a door sensor, don't complain about replacing a cheap battery once a year.

The most versatile device in the samsung smartthings family, this sleek zigbee device acts as a movement, vibration, orientation and temperature sensor all in one. The smartthings multipurpose sensor can detect whether an object like a door or drawer is open or closed; sense when valuable or off-limits items have been moved or tampered with; offer temperature readings; and feel vibration. It requires the smartthings hub. Smartthings offers a one-year limited warranty on this product. Troubleshooting steps: if your device doesn t connect after removing the "remove to pair" tab, hold the connect button while inserting the battery. Release the button when the led is lit. The led will blink blue while attempting to connect. Then select connect new device in the smartthings app. Note: check user manual in technical specification before use.

  • We recommend placing the hub in an open area well away from other devices transmitting and receiving 2. 4ghz signals (like wifi routers). if the signal needs to penetrate walls or floors, we generally recommend sensors be placed within 30 ft of the hub, or that a device that can act like a zigbee repeater (such as a smartthings outlet) be placed between the two devices to boost the range.

VISION ZM1601US-5 Z-wave PLUS Wireless Siren & Strobe Alarm, Battery Type, Gen5

Update (1/7/2018). I was able to get the siren to work with smartthings. Not sure why but i tried it again a couple days later and it worked. I highly recommend using the custom device handler gocontrol multifunction siren. Works fantastically and the siren is actually really loud. It is a perfect addition for a custom home security solution. . Old review:. I was really excited to get this as it would work really good for my setup. However, i am rating it 2 stars to hopefully get some visibility and answers as to what might be wrong with mine. The instructions say that the led should be on when it is in inclusion mode but my leds never turn on. I have even followed the directions online about creating your own device handler and it smartthings still does not find it. Other people have said that it is usually seen as a z-wave light or switch and mine doesn't even show that. I tried to exclude the device but that doesn't work either. . The odd thing is, if you hold the program switch for a couple seconds like everyone says, then push the button again the device starts alarming and flashing because of the tamper mode. But i am still yet to get the device to pair with smartthings. I have the smartthings hub v2 and many other people have confirmed that this device works with smartthings. If anyone has some insight as to what is going on i would really appreciate it and if i can get it paired i will most definitely give it 5 stars, otherwise i will have to return it as i may have gotten a defective unit.

I returned though as it was slow reacting even with device handler for smartthings. . If it was to go off as false alarm for awhile , more than likely give pets heart attack and hearing loss and probably people. . Strobe lights nice. Good quality. . Be prepared for loudness while setting up and removing cover with tamper switch. . Put under a pillow when testing etc!

I got this zooz siren to pair with my zooz motion sensors. It s loud enough to scare someone off. It flashes red when alarm is sounded. I tried the included instruction to pair, but it press the button 3 times didn t seem to work for me. After including/excluding many times i found the magic number was 5, so try pressing the z-wave button quickly 5-times and make sure you are close to the hub. 4-aaa battery are not included but needed for battery backup. Keep in mind you will need to use supplied usb power supply/cable for constant power. . For samsung smartthings hub:. 1. Go to add new device/thing. 2. Insert 4-aaa batteries (not included). 3. Press z-wave button 5x quickly (cover the siren with your hand, because it loud). 4. Device will be found as a z-wave switch. 5. Name switch siren . 6. For smartthings security you will use alert with light and select switch named in 5. . For advance users you can install device handler by robert vandervoort found here:. Raw. Githubusercontent. The siren came in a nice black box with another red box that slid out of it. I thought the packaging as a whole was attractive and well put together. . This siren takes 4 aaa batteries (not included), but they say it's only to be used for backup power. A microusb power adapter is included in the box. . To pair this thing is easy, but the directions don't seem to be accurate. The directions say to press the button on the side of the siren three times to put it in inclusion mode, however you have to press it five times for that to happen. I'd recommended you cover the speaker with your free hand when you do this because the button toggles the siren on/off and it is very loud being so close to it! you'll also notice that a red light flashes on/off when the siren is sounding. This makes it possible for someone who is deaf to see the siren alert. . I use smartthings and it detected the siren as a switch. I'm not sure of the reason for this, but i went in to the smartthings ide and changed the device type to "zwave siren'. It works perfectly after that. If you aren't sure how to do this, don't fret. It's easy. Google smartthing ide for the website or email support and ask them to change the device type for you! hopefully smartthings continues updating their device list for all the new devices coming out so they can work properly out of the box. . The siren comes with a wall mount, however the power cord is not very long. This was not a problem for me, but may be something to consider. The good thing is this siren uses a standard microusb cable, so you could use a longer cord to power it if you want it to be really high up. . Even though there is an extra step in setting this up with smartthings, i blame the hub and the lack of support for the newest products coming out. This was a great buy for my smart home!

H. Emily, Manitoba

Wasn't that loud but for the price it did the job.

M. Tracey, Quebec says

I was looking for non-battery powered a z-wave siren that's not bulky and ugly but that could be installed a few feet above the ground. Got the zooz siren since it came with a usb cable and power adapter so i got to mount it the way i wanted with a simple usb extension. It connected to my smartthings right away, showed up as on-off switch though so i emailed seller and they told me to change. Device type to siren in their online portal. It works great now, has everything i need:. - it's loud. - its small (easily fits in the palm of my hand). - comes with power adapter but will work on batteries as back-up. Pretty good price too!

Y. April, Bayern

I first paired the unit with my samsung smartthings and it was configured as a z-wave (light) switch. I figured it'd still function the same as a siren, but i was wrong. Because it's considered a light, when the security alarm was triggered and i disarmed it the siren stayed on. Also, when the leak sensor was triggered, the siren would go off too and i couldn't turn it off unless i went to the "things" and clicked on the "off" button. . I went back to reread the reviews and found out that there's a way to change the type of the device. Basically, i had to change the type from "light switch" to "siren". . First, go to samsung smartthings ide and then login using user username and password for the st hub. This is the ide site where you can basically control all your devices and settings and customize everything. It was all new to me, so if you are in the same boat then i suggest you read the "quick start" doc for device handlers from samsung's ide page. (apparently i can post links here). . Once you get the general idea, then you can follow the instructions from the other reviewer nathan; thank you nathan! ). If you are going to use it as a siren for your security settings, then you must change the type to a "siren" otherwise it will not work the way it's supposed to! i don't know whether it's zooz's fault or samsung's, but regardless i wasn't completely satisfied, thus i removed 1 star. . Also the sound is rated at 110db from another site i found. It measured 91db using my iphone app, but who knows how accurate that is. For my house i'll need to buy 2 and i'll also have to figure out a way to run it to my ups, so that it'll work even when there's a power outage. I may even have to extend the cable using usb extension over ethernet cables.

J. Jackson, Iowa says

Works as advertised! nice design.

X. Suzanne, Maine

I purchased two of the zooz z-wave plus indoor sirens to compliment the adt pulse primary siren. Do not expect adt to assist you with setting this up, because they say "it's not one of our supported products". However, it does work on the adt pulse system. . I can confirm a few things from others who have reviewed this product: it requires you to press the pairing button five (5) times to get the pulse system to recognize it (as a switch), not three. . Once you have the sirens on your adt pulse web portal, it's easy to create an automation telling the siren to turn "on" when the "security panel" is activated (i. E. Alarm, smoke, fire, carbon monoxide, etc. ) and then program the siren to turn "off" when you disarm the adt system panel. . Although not recommended for outdoor installation, that's what i did. Here's how: i purchased two of the "6ft usb micro-b male/female extension cable manhattan 307420" from online store to extend the mounting distance from the siren to the actual power source. . - i caulked the connection points both on the extension cables and between the plug and the siren (to prevent rain/water intrusion); i also thin-caulked around the power supply seams just in case. I mounted the siren underneath the roof overhang (photo posted), where there is reasonable protection from the rain (because the siren is underneath). This area is in my fenced-in backyard, so the siren is intended to supplement the rest of the adt system, not be the primary siren. . - i added an "l" bracket to the provided mounting bracket and used stainless steel screws to prevent possible rust. . - nail-in cable clips hold the micro-b extension cables against the house trim and unless you're looking for it, you don't even see the cable running from the power source up to the siren mounted high up. . For the second siren, i have it mounted, hidden underneath the front porch which has a roof overhang, and hence, protection from the rain; the siren is pointed towards the street which should give some type of warning to either a neighbor or the police. . Considering the size, the sound output is not bad; wish it was a little louder but it's better than nothing.

F. Sheila, Enfield says

Paired very easy with the trane xl824 wifi thermostat/z-wave controller. Its a siren and strobe light. No really loud, but is ok. The strobe lights are kind of dim. The doggies got interested on it while i was pairing withe controller.

W. June, Newham

This siren is loud! you know how some things are so loud your ears get distortion? yeah, that loud. No idea what that means in decibels, but don't be holding it when you set it off the first time, or hold on tight! yeah. Anyway, i made a device type for it in smartthings so you can use it. You can find it here: . And all my device handlers here: . Just grab the latest version and follow the standard instructions for adding a device type to smartthings from code and then switching the type over if you've already paired it up.

A. Florence, West Berkshire says

This did just what i needed, and sounds an annoying and loud alarm if any door sensors or motion detectors are tripped and my smartthings is set to armed (away). It's plenty loud within a few rooms, but you likely need at least a second unit for a 2 story house. I think the price point is about right as it's much cheaper than other models so i don't mind buying two. As noted in these reviews, you have to set it's device type in the smartthings ide to a zwave siren from a zwave switch, as it's recognized as a switch, but that takes all of 5 seconds to do so no big deal. Only change i'd wish for is to have the wall plugs be a part of the unit instead of having a wall wart, however this isn't a big deal as i'm not placing them out in the open where i care as much about the aesthetics.

U. Gloria, Kentucky

I returned a competitor's product after it failed (actually two of them) within a few months. This was super-easy to install, and my samsung smartthings hub recognized it quickly. Gives a good loud siren, and the red light flashes brightly. The only catch, is that the smartthings hub reads it as a light, not a siren. No biggy. You can still program it for triggered actions.

I. Erin, Bedfordshire says

Works well with smartthings hub. love it.

Disadvantage and Critical reviews

S. Bertie, Florida says

Does not go on and off with adt as it should

M. Mary, South Dakota

Pros: 1- comes with a charger so you don t have to worry about the battery life. 2- nice packaging. . Cons: 1- not loud at all, and can be silenced by covering it with your palm. No way this thing is 60-decibels . 2- does not connect to smartthings hub as a siren. It connects as a smart plug! this decreases the functionality of the device, not even able to specify how many minutes this thing needs to scream. 3- absolutely not loud, i know same as point one. 4- it is advertised to work as a repeater. My butt can repeat better than this thing. It can t even identify itself as a siren to smartthings. . I recommend the utilitech tse07-1 that i have in my smart things family, it has a piercing loud sound, and no connection issues. . Update:. 6-25-17: now the siren's status is "unavailable". I triggered an intrusion to test the security system, and it went off. I couldn't shut it off since it still shows unavailable! not sure how it went off with the unavailable status. Problematic siren.

T. Taylor, Illinois says

Returned it - couldn't get it to work with wink.

E. Delgado, Tennessee

Siren was really easy to set up, just as expected. However, compared to what i wanted, its not quite meeting expectations. Others comment how loud it is, but i want this siren to be noticeably audible when i am outside my house, but this one is not quite there. Also, the led is not very bright either, not sure the help there but if it was an led strobe light, that would be helpful. Something that would catch a neighbors attention at night. I guess i will have to rely on my outdoor flood lights that will go on automatically. All in all, its still 4 stars until i get to the cord. Its battery back up w/ a micro usb wall outlet plug. Unfortunately, my expectation is the siren would be mounted up high so its not easily disabled. I'm not realistically expecting the police department to show up before most burglars would be out the door with valuables, so i wanted this to help deter. However, if cord limits how high i can mount it, someone can just grab it and smash or muffle it.

Not really that loud and a robber can just grab it and throw it down to the toilet and voila the alarm sounded only for 5 - 8 seconds and unless you are in the house, no neighbor will care and the robbers will have a great laugh thinking how much money you spent. So robbed twice!

This z wave siren works ok sometimes but there's a very long delay going from enable and off mode. Also the distance is very limited from your z wave enabled hub.

I tried everything to get it to work but it never paired. When worth custom device handlers. Maybe mine was just defective, but for just a little more money, the d-link at least works (wifi) and the fortrezz (z-wave) works great and is very loud. I will not be trying this one again.

The good: i mostly wanted this for the z-wave repeater function. This seems to be working fine. If using samsung smartthings hub, run "repair z-wave network" (under hamburger menu / hub is online / z-wave utilities). . The bad: the "siren" isn't really very loud. Probably loud enough to alert you if you are home and to let a home invader know he has tripped an alarm. My wife was sleeping upstairs while i was installing. When she came down, i asked her if she had heard the siren? she said, "what siren. ". . The awful: the "instructions" are in almost unreadable fine print. They don't mention that it won't work unless you install the "backup batteries. " it doesn't mention how to install the batteries (remove small screw on back, pull off back and put in 4 aaa batteries, not included. ) i almost wore out my fingers pressing the pair button before i noticed found the "batteries are only a backup" comment and went searching for a way to install them. After batteries were installed, . . After just 10 months, it stopped working from the power supply at all. I removed it and threw it in the trash! . . Btw: after my adventure, i noticed one of the other reviews has very good install instructions for samsung smartthings including install batteries.

While the product works eventually, it was a pain to get it working with smartthings as by default, smartthings does not recognize this as a siren. Therefore, it was somewhat useless until i looked online to see if someone had already written a device handler for this siren that i could then add to my smartthings account and then re-pair it. I hope that zooz submits a formal device handler to smartthings soon so that you don't have to go through the whole process of manually adding the handler and then tweaking some settings in order to get it to recognize as a siren. . Once i got it all working, it's worked well. It's not super loud compared to other alarm sirens i've used from professional alarm companies, but it's plenty loud to get someone's attention and very loud when you're right next to it. . If zooz were to fix the issue with the smartthings pairing, i'd gladly rate it a 5.

I have not included this item as a node or determined if the siren has appropriate volume levels. I have just opened the box. The item is well packaged in an expensive looking box. The box contained 2 very short screws for mounting which cannot be used for sheetrock and no sheetrock mounted hardware is included, the screws may be ok for paneling. In my opinion the screws supplied are worthless (not long enough). I measured the power adapter cord and it is approx 41. 5 inches long. Plugged into my standard wall outlet the siren will be 57 inch from the floor which is lower then my chest. That is not a very good place to mount ones z-wave siren. The cord needs to be at least 8 - 9 feet long so the siren could be mounted approx 4 to 8 inches from the ceilings to put it out of the way and to maximizes the dispersion of the sirens sound throughout ones home. If placed low to the floor the sound will not be dispersed as well and could possible be blocked by furniture, damaged accidentally or by vandals easily, etc. Maybe a little less fancy box could result in a longer power adapter cord and also include longer screws with sheetrock hardware. Paulina who is a csr for the smartest house had already told me that i may have to lengthen the power adapter cord when we were discussing z-wave hardware. Sure i can increase the length but that is a unnecessary task plus i do not have white shrink nor do i have white two wire cable. Who has these in stock. This means i have to spend more time and spend more money to make the work for me better. I think for $39. 95 one should receive sheetrock hardware and a usable power adapter that does not have to be modified. I find paulina to be an excellent csr. The smartest house told me that the zooz siren was made to their specifications. Smartest house please change you specs as described above on the zooz z-wave siren, your customers will appreciate it.

I purchase this product a while back 6 months ago along with some zooz motion 4-1 sensors. It took me working with support approximately 11 weeks and multiple emails to get the motion sensors connected and somewhat working working with a vera plus controller. I was so fearful of opening this package for the siren after that paring experience. My fears were not disappointed when i finally opened the package and this device is unable to pair with the vera plus. While i start the multiple month process of getting this device to connect, the pairing button fails to click rapidly the three times for the paring. Needless to say i will not be purchasing any zooz equipment in my future, and i will be sticking to certified compatible equipment that is guaranteed to work with my vera plus controller. This items sucks and i do recommend it to all of my enemies.

If you are considering this siren because it's the cheapest z-wave you can find, then we found it for the same reasons. If you have installed this device before, and it configured as a siren you should be all set. If not, you will have to add the device handler (like a small code snippet to communicate with your hub). . By reading the reviews i saw that many had trouble setting this up, but i knew i could always return it if i had to. The two reviews you must read are from hd, and the other by nathan back in june / july 2016. . My setup is alexa dots, a smartthings hub, and android phone. . Since the documentation is incomplete / inaccurate you should know that i believe it took me 6 taps on the siren pairing button not 3 like the instructions say, or 5 like some other reviewers have noted. (your results may vary! ). . Last thing you should know is that there was still a missing step in the instructions from those other 2 reviewers. Once you feel you have correctly loaded the handler, and enabled it as a siren, not a switch, it still appears on your smartthings app as a switch, and it does not work as it should when you run your smart home monitor. If you go back to your smartthings ide / api console and click on hub you may see something that says "go to your smarthings app and enable your hub" i could not figure out how to do this. . Here was the missing step i figured out. There are 2 smartthings apps for your phone! go back to your play store and load samsung connect. Add your hub with the welcome code that came with your hub. This registers the hub. Who knew? now go back to your ide / api set the device handler as siren, add / discover on hub / alexa. Now run your smart home monitor, and all is good! . . I just ordered two more. Will have one in the basement by the duct work, one in the attic, and one in the barn because they are not very loud at all. (cover them with you hand when you are pairing them though). This way, for about $75 i'll have a bit of redundancy. If a burgler disables one or even 2 sirens, i'd like to see him find all 3. By then, i am greeting him with a bat after getting a backup notification on my phone, and all my lights have gone to 100%. Run cockroach! . . 3 stars because it took me most of a sunday morning to figure this puzzle out. But, i am new to home automation. I recommend the product only to the experienced, or diligent types, but it fills a niche well. They need to work on native, plug and play, installation with your hub like all of the other 33 devices i installed before it. Good luck, and happy 2018!

The pairing button kept sticking. I got the button to operate properly by pushing across the button, rather than pushing directly down on it. . Additionally, it doesn't work as a repeater. Products beyond this siren were back and forth between online and offline. Perhaps the frequency of the repeater wasn't satisfactory to the hub (wink). Regardless, the siren function works. . For wink, i paired it as a generic z wave switch. When it paired, wink identified it as a siren.
